Honey :( be nice to your mama!

Norwein

What a stunning page! There's a lot to unpack here and I love how Honey's outburst is portrayed. As readers we might think that it came out of nowhere, but I feel that this anger has been bottling up inside Honey for a long while. They're disabled, don't have the best health, and I think they also know that it all makes them somewhat different from their siblings and mother. Until now we've seen Honey reflecting on how they have less to offer, how they're seemingly left behind and without gifts by their kin despite how hard they try. Judging by how the writing is stylized, it seems like Honey is in their head a lot, having this observant inner self and somewhat bitter inner voice, circling back and forth between various thoughts. And many of those, especially about being left behind, are frightening! From Honey's perspective there doesn't seem to be any cat to share them with, and so Honey is left with these thoughs alone, drowning in anxiety and feeling like they aren't ever enough. Does it excuse they way they behaved? Absolutely not. But honestly? As someone who has disability, I find their way of thinking and the amount of inner thoughts very relatable. Maybe they're projecting their fear of abondonment onto mother, thinking that new babies will somehow replace them within their heart. For Honey it might be very real even if their momma has loved them all this time, because it's what they grew to believe in due to the built-up anxiety. It's what anxiety does. It can make you think of a worst-case scenarios, make you lash out and then make you even more guilty, bitter and closed-off because of what you said. It's a tough spiral ot break out of, but I hope that Honey will find their way. At least that's how I see and interpret the story so far. Very intriguing!

Ahh thank you so much! There indeed has been build up towards this, as vague as it is. I'm very into writing characters that turn their sadness and loneliness into anger to protect themselves, making them look unlikeable and needlessly cruel because they lack the skills to work through those obstacles healthily.
