Gosh poor Usma. One thing is to see your mom dying but having to see her again, in that position, with that dead expression... My poor baby, I don't understand how in the first pages she was smiling, if I suffered what she does, I'll never smile again.

Poor Oudia, and poor Usma for having to be traumatized over and over again. The twine necklace around Oudia’s neck and the one around Eve’s neck may be how Antaras plans binding the two of them together?

Im guessing that she froze in that position being propped between Antaras and Usma. I remember the storm scene had them huddled together for warmth.

She looks so eerily beautiful here - a glittering statue. I remember her head being lowered during the storm scene, so I had this heartbreaking mental image of her raising her head and pleading with the storm in her last minutes. :( how awful for her - especially with her knowing that her fawn will die with her. We’ve only known Oudia for one chapter but she has impacted me more than any other character now. fantastic writing!

Runny nose, tears flowing. Tissues blowing. I can’t believe how hard this hit me. I didn’t realize how hiding Oudia from us was building this tension because I was distracted by getting answers about the gods. Well done, Ratt. My gods, I wasn’t ready.

I can't help but think back to Usma walking alongside Antaras in the blinding snow with her eyes shut and how much she trusted him -- only, here, to be doing much the same but with her eyes shut out of dread. Wonder how often she walked like this with him in the days and weeks that followed?

that is so freaking sad. what a heartbreaking visage. I notice the "blind" appearance is here and my theory is that it carried because her eyes froze.

Oh lord, she froze to death in that position. Not a peaceful lay down with your eyes closed, but mid-embrace of your loved ones, trying to hold onto their warmth, eyes half-blinking.

Y'know.. Something I was thinking about. I wonder if Bones will be the one to kill Antaras(If he dies or isn't smited by the Gods) since the StoneKrovn were technically created to hunt down Mousara and his descendants.
