Let's make biscuits with the local depressed single parent.

Cats may purr but I don't think kneading is something they do in distress, but it's a thing here. Kneading is a self-soothing behavior, reminiscent of the time with mommy when things were simple and safe. Doing so as an adult is of course embarrassing. 😔

Self soothing behaviours are good for healing, provided there's no 'shooting' behaviours involved (the typo made me giggle)

And the red is draining from him… Embarrassing or not, if it helps, it helps!

Cats will indeed make biscuits while distressed (usually against something familiar and soothing, like "their" person, bed, colony-mate, etc.), but unlike purring they will not make biscuits while in pain. So this is actually (sort of) accurate! Also, fuck me the colours on this are gorgeous.

My cat makes biscuits and sucks on my clothes. She purrs too when she does it

I work as a vet tech and we actually have stressed out kitties that come in and start making nervous biscuits fairly often!! Some will even go so far as to start purring to de-stress, but stay very tense and alert most of the time. Makes it very difficult to hear their heart beat and breathing with the stethoscope haha I always feel so bad for the poor babies doing that tho 😭
