Let's go EGGS 🥚🥚

My son is in the 96 percentile and I think he’s going to be around 10 pounds. His dad is tall and I’m average height. I was planning on doing unmedicated but after finding out he’s huge no way am I going through birth without medication. I can’t even imagine pushing out a 10 pound baby without some type of help.

Autumn Baker

And you should be proud of doing it regardless 🩷 no shame, all glory Mama. Congrats & good luck! Trust your body & trust your Mama gut. Edit to add: I believe that part of the reason birth death rates have lowered it because of pain meds!!! So long as you can still feel it a bit youre good. Get some help, w/ no shame Mama. You deserve it & will still be just as much of a Mama

Jade

Hi friends, hope you all have a wonderful day ❤️

Autumn Baker

I dont know why its so funny to be so anti modern medicine but to shop at shein.

hope ryan

I had an 8 pound baby and he came out with his elbow/arm around his neck and his elbow is the whole reason i even tore, i had probably what they would describe as a first degree tear, put him on my chest and the next doctor came up and stitched me right up (so waiting a extra day is confusing to me) and then maybe a hour later or so the nurse came in for me to go to the bathroom but i had to be helped there since i was still numb from the epidural ( only time I needed help walking) and that's when i could tell how swollen everything was down there, then i used cushions for sitting on hard surfaces for maybe the next two weeks and then i was fine, so the fact that its still not okay for her is really concerning.

Former JW here who is married to a sometimes Mormon... both religions definitely use traditional OBGYN Dr's and hospitals for pregnancy but some individuals choose to use a midwife or do home births. It's really just a personal preference. She could have been influenced by people in her church who had also used a midwife, but it's not a religious doctrine or anything. I dont personally know any JW's who have used a midwife or done a home birth, but they can if they want to.

Saranoid

well if she had Diabetes during pregnancy that makes the baby dangerously large.. so if anything she did it to herself that he was that big

Shantayvia-Janeé

Also the midwives have to examine the placenta just alone to make sure it’s all been pushed out

Merandalorian

Was the baby 10.6 lbs or 10 lbs 6 oz?

Bee

Midwives and if they count as modern medicine depends on where you live. In the UK a midwife is a trained medical position and is who you see for your scans and checks. A OBGYN will be there at the birth, especially if it's complicated, but midwifes are also there and will be the ones helping you through the labour and getting the doctor when they need to

K

Ugh I tore so badly in my hospital birth that I lost a ton of blood that it caused me to have hypopituitarism. My son was under 7 lbs. I couldn't imagine if he was 10 lbs! They sewed me up for like an hour after his birth.

Samantha Michael

There was a cult leader that ingested colloidal silver, a lot of it, she did pass away, she was very silvery blue when she passed. It was such a messed up situation. And when I was going through labor 26 hours and 2 pags of pitocin, I only had a mid wife bc I was at an army hospital, but they nearly killed me bc they refused to admit that they needed the doctor. I was 2 weeks overdue, he wasn't coming, FINALLY called a doctor when we were in danger and the doctor ripped into them and I had to have a section. My baby was 10lbs and he said there's no way he would've came out natural without the shoulder getting stuck. She really needs to go to the doctor. -_-

Samantha Michael

Edit: I never wanted a mid wife, this was unfortunately not a choice I got at the time bc I was at an army hospital. I kept begging for one. It was awful.

K

A deep red placenta can indicate preeclampsia too

Bee

Also I had a kinda traumatic birth with my kid. I was torn in both direction (9lb 2.5 ounces baby whose head was an extra centimeter wider then average for their percentile. Also kid was born 20 minutes after getting to hospital because the whole labour took 4 hours) I lost 500ml of blood and had to be on a catheter for the first night after giving birth because I was ripped forwards. I could still walk as soon as that catheter was out and was pretty healed fairly quickly. And I have fibromyalgia Something is very wrong

Alaskha Matta

JW still use traditional medical care. They are to use sound mind to make decisions. So in this situation she would need to go to see a physician to help her.

Destiny Briggs

Besties I had 2nd degree tears and was up and walking within 20 minutes after giving birth. I was in labor for 3 days and really wanted a shower😂 nurse told me in order to do so I had to walk and I immediately told her let’s get to walking then.

KatieMay

I had to be induced at 39 weeks due to my babies size (9lbs at birth). No health conditions, just a big baby. Thank GOD I was! I can’t imagine having a bigger baby vaginally.

Emily

Having untreated gestational diabetes can result in a big baby. I had it with all three of mine. They don’t want you to go to term bc babies can get huge even if treated. I never considered a home birth but they made it clear that women who have gestational diabetes should be in a hospital in case there are complications.

Emily

In the US, midwives have medical training and work in hospitals. My first baby was delivered by a midwife. If everything looks good and should be a normal vaginal birth, a midwife is a great option. It also allows the doctors to help women who need a doctor. Very common where I live.

Samantha Michael

Girl same, I was induced too, but after the first bag of pitocin I still wasn't having any progress so they gave me another bag and boyyyyyy it came on like so intense. Then the hospital didn't have any pain drugs bc of a car accident, they had to drive to a neighboring hospital to get me iv pain meds, took forever. Alll of that suffering to have a c section, that I begged for, and the doctor would've suggested to begin with, so idk how she managed this at home. I wish she would go to the hospital 😣 bless her heart

Arsena Shavon

She could've avoided all of this if she had went to the doctor from the beginning. I had a big baby-8.12 but I was up and walking the next day. A little sore but that's about it. Two days after I was fine like nothing had happened. So to be 7 weeks postpartum and still in pain is insane. I hope she actually went to the doctor.

Rydermuscle

Just listening to this podcast and then watching it, as a man with no kids, none of what she did sounded safe. And looking at her physically, she should have at least gone to the doctors either right before the baby or after. It just seems like she put herself at a ton of risk that could’ve easily been avoided

Brittney

I had a 3rd degree tear with my daughter. I didn’t tear ALL the way through, that’s a 4th degree. But I had torn into it enough that I had stitches in my asshole for a hot minute😅 Even then tho, I was up & walking around as soon as my epidural wore off

Kayla

When I was in highschool our across the street neighbor was pregnant and she went into labor. It was her second or third child so the baby super quick and she ended up with a surprise home birth. It was crazy!

Allison

Midwives are amazing and I will def hire them for my next pregnancy so I wouldn’t discount them fully. Where I live they have degrees in Midwifery and it’s very specialized. A lot of people I know in my area prefer Midwives over OBs. Anyways, my preference was always to have a hospital birth in case something did go wrong (which it did) and I was glad I was there for the resources. Home births are and can be so beautiful (and more power to ya), just not everyone’s preference ♥️

Allison

I had a rough birth, so I didn’t feel normal 2 days afterwards. Everyone’s definitely different in terms of how long it takes, I don’t think there’s a set timeline of when to feel better. Hell, I’m 3 years postpartum and my body never truly went back to before lol 😂

Linzi Emerick

Lily, you look so good in this shade of orange

That Jessica

I had a man as a neighbor whose skin was blue all over. Like greyish blue. I'm pretty sure it was from silver poisoning. He was fine, but people would stare. So I wouldn't recommend risking anything with the silver thing.

Amanda Bailey

I was overdue at 42.5 weeks with my last and it was the most traumatic birth I had (out of 3). I was prepped for an emergency c-section when they finally got the baby out but I had an episiotomy and a 3rd degree tear with no meds as he came within 45 minutes of me being 2cm dilated. Yeah it was scary and rough. I was in a lot of pain for a couple of weeks after and I still have many pelvic floor issues almost 11 years later. If I wasn’t at the hospital I can only imagine how that would have gone.

lejla

Soooo, I’m a physician assistant and as a student I was present for multiple vaginal births and C sections and not once, did we ever have trouble assessing a patient’s anatomy to detect the presence or absence of tears. Super concerned for her 😬

Laura

Just based on the fact that a hematoma formed and there was no visible tearing, I would guess she tore internally. Swelling and pressure from the pooling of blood could help to slow bleeding enough that she doesn’t bleed out, but without surgery there’s many ways that could lead to death. Also, as someone with eczema on my face I can tell you that using a normal makeup wipe is such a bad thing for dermatitis. It irritates the condition and makes it worse. They dry out the area, cause tearing and cracking of the skin, and move makeup into cuts that can cause infection. She’s using a makeup wipe in that video, so that must be how she usually removes her makeup. That dermatitis is only going to get worse. On top of everything else.

max

nope! 10.6lbs is 10lbs 9.6oz

P BM

The placenta has a shelf life. That's why being overdue is so dangerous. I'm diabetic and had to be induced 2 weeks early because diabetic women's placentas stop functioning earlier than non-diabetics. Horrendous experience since I had to go through hard labour and then have an emergency C-section, where they cut me vertically instead of horizontally.

Caroline Mitchell

Not sure if you get to this but…to be fair to his family re: the cancer treatment - in the YT video that I watched (and I’m sure a lot of people did) it was mentioned that the family was correct and their son did not have cancer. If that’s true, I don’t know that we can blame them for not subjecting him to chemo.

Mercedes

Canadian Midwifery student here! I’m not too sure how the regulations work state to state, but there in Canada midwives have a 4 year degree in medicine. They specialize in all things pregnancy related and majority of people see their midwives exclusively. As we can order and do all the prenatal testing necessary. I’m wondering if Emery is just missing points in her communication or if the midwife here was not being a responsible provider.

Merandalorian

yeah, I've just never seen the weight of a newborn listed like that

starmamma🤍

Hi loves! No hate, as a jw we accept modern medicine just no blood. ❤️

Adrianna

I am a c section mom times 6…. My first was emergency after 48 hours of labor. I so badly wanted vbac with my second to where I considered a home birth. I didn’t since he had IUGR and wasn’t sure if he would have any problems (he didn’t). During that surgery my Dr said he didn’t think I’d ever have a vaginal due to something about my hips. Idk. I was on drugs when he said it

Katie

In the US you need to be an NP before becoming a midwife! School is mandatory but people loveeee to pretend to be medical professionals here 😭

Kurtis Waldron

Okay this makes me nauseous. There are soooo many things she could be doing. I’m scared how the baby is truly doing. She needs medical attention! This is so sad!

Kurtis Waldron

The baby was big cause it was in too long!!!!

Lena Rose

re: home births, I desperately wanted to keep my last pregnancy as hands-off by doctors as possible, but my OB stuck me in the hospital one day after a routine appointment at 28 weeks. Boy was I glad I was there when my baby had to be born by crash c-section the next day, and we both almost died. I was in the ICU two separate times after he was born and he was off to the NICU on a vent. While I get the appeal of a home birth, I can't imagine ever trying it after my experience. Most births are routine sure, but when there's an emergency you're REAL glad to have immediate access to a hospital.

Adriana Martinez

When my sister in law was pregnant they told her that gestational diabetes can cause both preeclampsia and large babies…. and speaking of her baby, can we assume that the baby isn’t going to be vaccinated 😒

max

i’ve seen both, it really depends on who’s giving the wt. medically tends to be lbs & oz (more accurate) hence the 10lbs 6oz but family tends to be quicker hence the 10.6lbs. i’m not sure which it is here as i haven’t watched it yet

Chris

You guys look like prison inmates in the thumbnail in your matching orange sweatshirts

Katee Knittle

I grew up Mormon and Mormons 100% should believe in modern medicine and doctors. A lot of the leaders in the church are highly educated doctors. I also had my first daughter in Utah under the supervision of a Midwife. BUT it was at a hospital and my midwife’s were all certified/RNs as well and ran out of the OB/GYN office where they can get a second opinion from doctor if needed at any point during the pregnancy. I’m pregnant with my second and I’m going the same route. Hearing her experience makes me so sad for her

Tatyana Anderson

obviously am not a dr and cant diagnose her now but with the context clues it sounds like she had gestational diabetes. she had many of the symptoms, including the large placenta, and large birth weight. gestational diabetes babies are often induced early or birthed via csection due to their extremely large size

Jessica L

Off topic but Lily looks amazing in that orange color 😍

Lk

Hey, sorry if it is wrong to ask, I've heard c sections births are very limited, to like 2 or 3 babies. How it came to be you have 6?

Adrianna

I mean they can’t truly “limit” them. In the sense they can’t force you to get on birth control or anything. They can highly suggest not having them. But if you’re pregnant they need the baby out somehow. And c section would be the safest at that point. For my 1-3 they would say you can’t even tell iv had any. My 4th I went into labor before which was dangerous but it went ok. 5 and 6 they had me have the surgery by 37 weeks. I got my tubes tied this time however. And my dr did say my uterus was thin.

Dana Craft

I work in healthcare and tbh sounds like some type of pelvic floor prolapse or herniation - obvs not a formal diagnosis or medical advice, but it’s consistent with the self-described signs/symptoms she provided

Elizabeth Darling

omg y'all have to watch the dead woman wrapped in Christmas lights colloidal silver cult documentary.

Toni Perez

This is my first bonus episode as a clout goblin! I feel like a real "girly" now 🥰

michelle mel

Intellectually immature is now my favorite way to say dumb lol

Ruth Hudson

Love you guys to death and always will but really disheartened by this podcast. I’ve been a silent watcher for forever and am a huge supporter of the pod. I wish you would have done more research on natural birth. I gave birth at 41 wks and one day after taking castor oil with a midwife only at a birth center. Potential Medical complications were heavily monitored and a safety plan was in place. If you do it right it’s an incredible experience. I got to take my baby home 4 hrs after giving birth in the most comforting space I could have. It healed wounds in me I didn’t know existed and showed me how incredible women’s bodies are. I wish you would have not treated this women like she was extremely dumb for the choices she made. I didn’t watch all the way through so I can’t speak to her post birth choices. However, the light you shined on natural births and medical care during pregnancy that is not the traditional medical model made it clear you didn’t do much research and didn’t take the time to understand the other perspective to some extent. Wish you would have truly, I think both the medical and more hands off model have a time and place.

Uhh_For_Why

I think you need to watch it all the way through. I feel like they came from a place of concern.

kendralicious

Ruth, I think you might feel personally defensive of your choice to have a midwife. I’m glad you had a beautiful experience, I’m sure the girlies are too. It is, however, not everyone’s reality and it is also true that some people romanticize at natural births too much, to the point where they may be harmful to mother and/or child. They never said that it was inherently a bad choice, but this is not a suitable choice for all women. If you watched the rest of the video, there were a lot of medical issues that went untreated or were downplayed that would not have been handled that way in a hospital.

Sara DiMaggio

I think this was such a good way to do this episode. I agree with everything you said! And she’s post partum so for sure fragile- this was a great take.

Loula

If you watch the whole episode you will see that they are not shaming anyone who makes the same choices you did and I'm sure Lily and Jessie would celebrate your birth story and glad you had such a positive experience. The problem with this lady did not have a positive experience and is having extreme post-birth complications that she is not seeking medical attention for. The main focus on this episode is concern for her health and how she got into the situation she is in

shayla pitts

I had pelvic floor pain through my pregnancy and my baby was literally half her child size. I was overweight and out of shape so I was surprised that had a weak pelvic floor. But I could imagine having a baby double my baby girls size in there 😩

Monica

Anyone else ever have it pop up telling you to sign in to confirm you’re not a bot?? My YouTube account is logged in, and obviously I’m a member so idk why it won’t let me watch the video 😭😭😭

Lauren Cahoon

That is insane…I had shoulder dystocia with my daughter and I am so grateful that I was in a hospital. It actually took several minutes to get her out after she got stuck and they said that the general rule is that they need to get them out within a minute if at all possible so I was incredibly lucky she didn’t suffer a lack of oxygen. They were literally about ready to break her collar bones to help get her out when someone just took scissors, cut me, and practically reached up to pull her out. It was extremely traumatic and if we had done a home birth I have no doubt whatsoever that she would have died

Kayleah Cole

Somehow missed this one, but alas here we goooo 👏🏼🥰

Cassidy Savage

It sounds like she could be dealing with a prolapsed uterus which is….i don’t have the words. I’m late to this video so I hope she’s gotten medical attention by now. If he’s encouraging/demanding/ requesting no medical care, prison.

Katie

I worked at an OBGYN office and the biggest difference in providers there is as follows: Nurse practitioner: Gyno information, no birth, no pregnancy, no surgery Midwives: Gyno information, birth, pregnancy, no surgery Doctor: all the things I don’t know if this helps, also after a vaginal birth the mother should see her doctor 4 weeks post birth and after C-section mothers should see their doctors 2 weeks and 4 weeks postpartum appointments

Katie

Also the midwives I worked with deliver in a hospital with doctors on call incase there’s a complication and surgery is needed, but they still stay with their patients

Katie

PLEASE do research about the medical professionals you see

Sam Avery

I also immediately thought Pennywise the Clown when I saw those creepy ol balloons!

Caroline Trader

Coming from someone that had a midwife in my second pregnancy, this midwife sounds neglectful. She sounds like she possibly had gestational diabetes due to the size of the baby. Also with my first birth in a hospital I had pelvic floor pain and required pt after, however it was not the pain she's describing 😬😬 I wonder if she has a prolapse

Evanjuleen

Not in the Forrest too! I just saw welcome to Derry. That was a red flag.

Evanjuleen

Everyone's opinions are valid here. My best friend died doing what you did and her baby never met her. It was yrs ago and I'm literally crying now...

Evanjuleen

Bless you baby. Take my love w you

Evanjuleen

She looks so tan and glowy

Evanjuleen

Diarrhea is a medical sickness. She made herself sick in order to give birth. Diarrhea is an immune system response to poison! To toxic substances your body is try to get ride of... 😢

Evanjuleen

I am so sorry. I hate her. I'm so livid... She put herself and her infant in sooooo sooo much danger. I am disgusted. My stomach hurts

Evanjuleen

Angry because I do love her and this wasn't necessary.

renata avignone

LDS whilst not part of the religion per se, are far more susceptible to the crunchy-alt right pipeline. Because they have a distrust of the government and an unbeatable belief that god will save them, they are far more likely to believe that modern medicine is a scam.

Shanna Hart

I came out blue because my shoulders were stuck. Glad my mom was in the hospital or it could have been really bad.

Bizzle

Its so sad that she is going through so much pain and struggles needlessly. Also, strange for her to vent on the internet and not care about the comments at all

Lottie

Dragging/ pulling pressure when she stands up sounds like a prolapse of something. There’s been a few 10 lbs babies born in my family and whilst there were some LONG labours there were no serious complications (‘cause hospital birth!). This is the crunchy edition of ‘play stupid games win stupid prizes’ at its finest. Glad the little one is ok.

Brittany

Coming back to this episode after breaking my back and her struggles are extremely similar to my current situation

Samantha lloyd

I have dealth with prolapses, and while it does feel like a dragging/pulling pressure, I can't imagine why she would not be able to walk due to a simple prolapse. They aren't typically painful in that way.

Jolie Shultz

my mom is a labor and delivery nurse and when i was younger i was more into the “crunchy” lifestyle (not saying that’s what this is but it connects) and said i wanted to eventually have a home birth and she was like “absolutely not.” i look at people like the duggars, jessa in particular, who i believe had a home birth in which she nearly died. i just wish people would adequately educate themselves on home births and the risks.

Krystil Smith

Placenta is Magical looking?? You lied to me Jessie I’m perturbed by the images Google showed me!!!!

Mandie

Gestational diabetes will cause a bigger baby. Which they will also MAKE SURE you’re induced by a specific point so that the baby doesn’t get that big - CAUSING ALL KINDS OF PROBLEMS!!! I have no sympathy for her at this point as I feel like she knows what she’s doing & rage baiting but I do feel bad for the baby because he could have some significant problems if she did have GD & was never treating it 🤦🏼‍♀️ Some people really should never procreate 😳

Mandie

I learned that on an episode of grey’s anatomy, never knew if it was real or not. That’s great to know. So not even in an emergency situation?

Mandie

41 weeks isn’t out of the norm, especially for a first time mama. However, one of the main reasons for a baby to be that big (unless it’s a genetics thing ofc) is gestational diabetes. There’s a reason they now test every single pregnant person for it, even if you don’t have any history of diabetes in your family it can still happen during pregnancy. If you do end up having it they extra check on the baby because the main side effect of it is a large birth weight! They will even schedule an induction early to ensure the baby is at a healthy weight that’s not going to cause so many complications for mom or baby. I whole heartedly believe that’s what she had. So sad that she just didn’t care enough 😢 😳

Mandie

Exactly what I believe too!! The fact that it was never treated properly breaks my heart for that baby 😔

Mandie

How can you form an option without watching the whole thing? Had you actually done so you would’ve seen that Jessi clarifies time & time again that she’s NOT shaming anyone for doing the natural route. The issue is that this girl NEVER got proper scans or anything done. And she ended up with massive complications & still never actually saw a dr for it! She was putting hers & her baby’s life at risk. THATS the issue here!

Mandie

I’m so sorry for your loss 😢

Mandie

My best friends daughter got stuck in the birth canal for too long & ended up having a seizure. She now has many problems including Cerebral Palsy. Her entire left side works at only a fraction of what it should. Like her left leg turns in & goes limp sometimes, and she’s about 50-75% blind in the left eye 😔

Mandie

Ya, sounds to me like this midwife needs to be investigated for negligence. Sounds to me like Emmare had gestational diabetes 😔

Mandie

My thoughts EXACTLY!!! Definitely sounds like gestational diabetes from my experience. Also fully agree that that midwife needs to be investigated for negligence 😮 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mandie

Ya it was Jessa. It was terrifying just as a viewer, I couldn’t imagine actually being involved in that! 😔

starmamma🤍

Blood fractions and the use of one’s own blood during surgery are conscience decisions. However, yes we don’t use donated blood from other people. But again using one’s own blood during medical procedures is a conscience matter. In the bible it talks about not consuming blood and so that’s the basis for it. ☺️💕

Mercedes Moore

I did castor oil with my daughter ( I was in the hospital when I did it and my water had already broken so we were trying to get her OUT since there's risk after so many hours). My son I was induced (again in hospital), no castor oil, and he pooped in the womb. You just never know what's going to happen with birth, but I can't imagine having done any of it outside of the hospital.

Rae6666

I came here to say this. She’s also very lucky the baby survived because after delivery, the baby’s blood sugar can drop significantly. These babes usually have a NICU nurse in the room during birth and it’s not uncommon for them to spend the first night in the NICU to be monitored.
