This video has been a long time in the making (my entire life, in fact 😅). For readers of the newsletter, you have already seen a lot of photos from and heard about my love of these cheap, fun cameras, but here are a few more photos for the folks in the back:

So, what's your favorite camera of all time?

Nikon Coolpix S3000

This is a lovely little cozy video, and for once I feel a little bit of equal footing because the only film cameras I have ever shot on were these cute plastic things. I only signed up for a month of your Patreon, and it expires tomorrow, but it's been really cool to support you at least a tiny bit. You're doing cool shit, keep at it :)

Justin Bennett-Cohen

This was such a great introduction to film while still being short. I have a roll of film that I still haven’t developed since I’ve been picky where to take it

Kyle

Of course you’re from the imaging capital of the world 🔥

David Klein

Favorite camera of all time must be the Canon S200. My first digital camera that I took everywhere with me.

Becca Farsace

Thanks for being here, Rachel! Feel free to send any ideas for what you would have liked to see more of. Appreciate the support!

Corbet

This inspired me to pick up a few 35mm half frame cameras for an upcoming music festival I'm attending - I'm going to give them to friends as gifts at the festival and develop all of the photos for them afterward.

Pronichkin

(continuing my embarrassment from the comments under the previous video) I never saw a half-frame camera before, but when I read about them previously, I somehow always assumed that they roll the film vertically (like movie cameras do) instead of horizontally (like full frame photo cameras do) so that they still shoot in landscape orientation by occypying half the normal frame.

Becca Farsace

this is making me want to break my Bolex out, which I think I'll be doing soon!

Phil Knall

I love this so much. Btw if you want a quick and dirty negative conversion for those film strips, invert each color's curve individually. I can send you a screen cap if you want. There's a tutorial in this old vid of mine... But it's in Japanese and I haven't checked the subs 😂 https://youtu.be/tSBrM4h8JFc Anyway, favorite cameras are the Fuji gs645 folder and the Leitz-Minolta CL!

Cory Zanoni

100% gonna get a couple of this for a music festival my partner and I are going to <3

Becca Farsace

YES! not mentioned in the video - bring an extra AAA battery (or whatever it takes) for when it does eventually die.

Becca Farsace

that is soooo easy! I often take a photo of my negative with my phone then put a "negative" filter over it... ahah

Phil Knall

Haha yeah I figured! Negative conversion is a bottomless pit, there's always room for improvement 😅 I don't know if this hack works for video but it might?
