Loved the entire season, not a fan of the harem-like direction though. Weakest part of the story for me personally

Comments

Malik Allen

Shit why not ? He’s his daddy sonnn

DocGreen

Well get use to it. Because the story was literally from season 1 set up for this.

2026-10-26 09:00 I agree roshi but that is where it is headed so heads up for next time

FreshxEli Tv

That Evil Ass MAN GOD About to beat RUDY Ass All that work & plotting he did to prevent this link up for 2 Whole seasons I KNOW He Sick 😭😂😭😭😭

Lildreezy

Itz normal in they world so I don’t have a problem wit it

ElswSwine68031

Stopped watching after season 1 cause YouTube shorts randomly spoiled and ruined the whole story for me

Lildreezy

I’m juss saying nikkas ain’t gaf bout tengen having 3 wives🤷🏾‍♂️

Fernando Perez

I wouldn’t really say it’s weak. I think it’s fairly well done. It’s been kinda set up for a while now and polygamy isn’t as taboo in their world. Plus it’s not the only show you’ve watched with a character with multiple partners. But I can understand if you just don’t vibe with it.

Thev2g

The story been kinda leading up to having a harem ever since season 1 so it’s not too surprising tbh

Risk

i also dont like the harm thing but it is a normal thing in that world so i cant really say much\

JJ

Tengen is also a side character that was only a focus for one arc. you not cooking

Fernando Perez

I guess probably cause Tengen isn’t really a focal point of the story as much as Rudeus is. Plus, Tengen married all of his wives at once. Rudeus did kind of cheat on Sylphie. I don’t mind either, but I can see why some might be ok with Tengen and not this.

BZD

They did watch a show called 100 girlfriends.

rudy

relationship sucks in this show dosent make it better when mc is pdf also

Krype

She’s a whole cuck lmao also why did everyone else look a little bit older except Rudy

FreshxEli Tv

Brother Rudy Lost His Arm Saving Dad Right 😔 ALSO Her : You LOST Your Arm & Still Had Time To Fuck !!!? GET OUT 🤬😭🤣

Jamie See

To me I'm not surprised how the story is going the harem route because since season 1 I could tell they were probably going to do that with how they were make the 3 girls significant in Rudy's life. It was just a matter of time.

Nikan

Doesn’t make it any less ass lmao

Luhbabytay

So you okay when the show start off as harem but don’t like it when it build up to a harem?? Cause the reason for it was weird🤔

Ettan

The harem thing is really putting me off, i've skipped so much of the past episodes. If the red haired girls ends up as number 3 i'm gonna be mad. I really enjoy the story but the harem-like stuff is just boring.

Tsuki

Bro got reincarnated as a newborn to a new world. I wouldn’t say he’s a pdf. Besides, he can’t get into relationships w people around his “age” in his past life when he’s 5 years old in the new one

Drakuse

Weakest part of the season was anyone who was genuinely mad about the decision, in either direction of hating or defending it. It’s a a fantasy show in another world, get over it.

ArtsySpecter

its been a harem since the first 3 girls showed up wdym lmao its a very poly world

ArtsySpecter

why is it ass though? poly relationships exist irl as well

Smitty Werbenjägermanjensen

I get it. I'm not a fan of Harem shows because I wanna see relationships develop, but the show is still a 9.5/10 for me

Nah I’d win

Me too man it sucked. MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD! Had the whole thing about how Rudeus will have this huge family tree branching off of him not only impregnating and having a child with Sylphie, but then with Roxy AND Eris as well. That plus some stuff about the man god and Geese sealed the deal for me to not care about this that much anymore.

King of New York

Beautiful show. If you think about it, they've now finished the original objective they had from S1, which was to recover everyone from the mass teleportation of turning point 1. I have a feeling next season will feel very fresh and return to the more fantasy and story focused plot points, but I really loved how character-focused both parts s2 was. I may go read the light novels thought, got spoiled on a few really big things and I don't want it to keep up. Also the sequel LN series is starting this fall!

Omar

Based off this episode, unless Eris dies, she's definitely gonna be wife #3. Might as well wife up Sara while he at it. And before people begin to cape for this show, it's ok. I don't care about harems, though this show was already pretty good without it.

2026-10-26 09:00 I would have been less of a fan if it came out of nowhere. Thankfully it was foreshadowed from S1 E4 (the Paul incident) in addition to the three key women in his life. I'm anime only, however I highly doubt it will not have implications further down the line in the story. Things in Jobless aren't random at all.
2024-07-02 22:44

Lawlach

"i really enjoy the story"... "ive skipped so much of the past episodes" bro just stop watching lmao

Nah I’d win

Where the whole premise was degenerate to begin with. It’s the whole shows shtick. With Mushoku it really isn’t, for the longest it seemed like Rudeus was going to become anything BUT like his dad. It seemed to emphasize how bad of a person Paul was despite being good at heart & that Rudeus should’ve learned from his mistakes.

ArtsySpecter

You and sheera litterally watched "100 girlfriends" but the 3 person relationship in this anime is throwing yall off? I understand not liking harem but that doesn't make much sense to me lmao especially when this harem (which in reality is just regular poly) is actually semi well done

King of New York

DUDE ME TOO. There's literally these few channels that spoil everything about the story though shorts and thumbnails.

Ara Araragi

Mushoku Tensei is one of the series that popularized a lot of the standard isekai tropes, including a loner/shut-in MC, death by truck-kun, OP abilities in the new world, and harem-building. The show has always been isekai trash at its core, just with much better writing and production than most isekai.

ArtsySpecter

Dude what? it showed that paul was able to keep his family happy even while sleeping with other women even sylphie said she wouldn't be surprised if rudy slept with another women lol

Ettan

I dont have a problem with it either, its a fantasy world do whatever rules you want. But i dont want to watch that, its boring hentai shit. I want the story to progess instead i get to see Rudy and the rest come up with some bullshit with why its fine. Make the story move forward instead what the fuck.

Dionysus

I love the harem thing because in the world they built doesn’t seem like a uncommon thing there is at least one religion that is against it also people act like relationships can’t grow just because there is two of them

Grelk

Agreed

Stevetheiguana

Yeah the idea that Roxy "sacrificed her feelings" to help Rudy in a time of need falls flat when she herself admits she took advantage of him in a weak state. She already wanted him, and this was an excuse to do it, even if helped Rudy in the process. Sylphie's fine with it, whatever, but Norn was right in her criticism tbh. I disagree that Eris wouldn't want to marry Rudy though. It's been a while since S1, but if you remember at the very end of S1 she's screaming to the world proclaiming her love for Rudy. She never left because of ill will towards him. She better not pull back up assuming to just start back up a relationship with him after pulling that shit and being gone for who knows how many years now though.

danial javady

I read this in a crunchyroll comment, but apparently there was an audiobook? Or something? Where it showed what his father was thinking in his last moments, and how he felt regret. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZLAgy-aAa8 ^ someone's edit of it

Devin B

I'm curious but what do you not like about the harem direction because if they're happy about it then why push against it, plus it's not like you don't like the harem troupe in general because you guys watched 100 girlfriends and liked the show

Kingmakaii

Chill yall yall gonna get why this harem needs to happen by like the middle or end the picture gonna get painted for yall i promise the author cooked when wrote this shit watch 😂💯😭

Metweet .c

I don't know why you guys are confused by the harem Dynamic for rudy but cool for Uzui. It's not that crazy

Akademic

Suuuper light spoiler for season 3 ahead. They sorta butchered the reasoning behind Rudy's idea to marry Roxy btw. In the light novel, Roxy actually got pregnant from their only night together, and that was the real motive for the whole proposal. I guess they didn't have the time to properly set it all up in the anime for it to go like the LN, that's why it turned out kind of weak. The more I think of it, the more I realize how awfully they messed up some stuff about the story tbh. Some stuff that was supposed to set up seasons 2 and 3 were cut out from season 1, and it's just pilling up. Season 3 still has plenty source material to go off of, but It'll probably end up being weaker than Season 2 regarding the story.

Metweet .c

Well it's certainly not trash. Not many other shows have allowed people to genuinely care about and grow empathy towards a character like Rudy that has genuinely developed and changed his behaviour. This story set the standard because unlike isekais now they actually take the time to develop their characters who do imorale or inhumane acts.

Sum1s0mewhere

You guys realize, if the shit god didn't mess things up, Roxy would have been his first wife instead of Milphy, are you also gonna blame it on Rudy for how things went down with Eris? The harem thing is kinda annoying but can't be worse than 100 gfs or rent a trash so 🤷

pp clapper

100 girlfriends is a comedy anime, this is a story driven one. The harem theme takes away from the story AND character growth and feels more like a lack of decision making from the author. It doesn't even make sense in the story itself since the multiple wives thing is part of a religion........he doesn't follow himself nor his parents nor his girlfriends. It's not realistic

Deshawn Smith

MT is one of the few series that actually makes the polygamy aspect make sense and it's insanely well done.

THRAX117

its important plot to the story which will come to light in season 3 for the harem which yall aint ready for how dark this is gonna get

Mervyn Larrier

She was trying to assuage his guilt by saying that she took advantage of him. Ergo, he didn't cheat on his wife and had nothing to feel sorry for. But he did, regardless of her saying that. The show did a terrible job adapting this section of the story. Because Rudy was despondent not for a few days, but for almost a month. Wouldn't talk to anyone and barely ate anything the whole time, which is why he looked so gaunt. They only started moving again once Rudy got back on his feet. And Elinalise talked Roxxy into it, because she did plan to stand aside since he has Sylphie. That said, Norn's criticisms were in fact valid, because Rudy never got Sylphie's permission and was still there enough to reject her proposal to go out on a walk.

W-Fox

Well, Rudy's not exactly ladies man material, plus he's a creep so the romance comes off pretty cringy.

Metweet .c

It's crazy you light novel readers enjoy spoiling stuff when the show time and time again brings up the information at a later point.

Mervyn Larrier

I have no issue with the multiple wives thing. I wouldn't have problems with multiple husbands either. It's the cheating that bugs me

ConquersAll

You guys literally watched "100 Girlfriends", the Monogatari series (multiple love interests), Shield Hero (multiple love interests), Eminence in Shadow (multiple love interests), love Tengen and had no issues. Rudeus and Tengen are the only ones actually standing on business and locking shorties down. Don't be mad lol. This show is literally a more realistic OP MC, Harem Isekai anime.

Guav

i honestly dont understand how having 2 wives in a fantasy world where poly is a regular thing "too much"

Ultra Lit

I love how everybody is bitching and moaning about y'all rightfully not liking the harem BS, It wasn't handled well at all. Rudy cheats on sylphy (whos pregnant) fast asf right after he said he'd be faithful, I don't care what excuse was used and then sylphy was conveniently fine with it cause it was someone rudy always talked about, smh.

Vinh Le

I think my problem with it was how they implemented the Harem, at least for Roxy's case, the transition and build up to it was pretty scuffed imo. Especially when learning about the cut content. Like I would've had expected Eris to enter the relationship before Roxy would tbh since at least with Eris, what happened with them after was a misunderstanding.

Kevs rey

I agree with roshi with not fucking with harem. I appreciate Norn character cuz she was me during the whole thing. And the guy was working on puppets is probably going to give Rudy a replacement arm o

Stevetheiguana

Oh yeah I agree with that, Rudy is absolutely at fault here too. Doesn't matter if Sylphie had offered the option of a concubine previously since Rudy rejected it and promised to be faithful. I've heard of what you said before with stuff that was skipped in the light novels. Picked up the series earlier last week to read through myself to get the full experience, looking forward to it!

y0ungship

Not just fantasy, this happens in real life i don't get why people are so mad about it. The only thing they shouldn't like is Rudeus cheating on Sylphie

ArtsySpecter

It literally takes nothing away from the story or characters though? Each character in the poly relationship is still their OWN person and it doesn't show a lack of decision making at all when it's a clear plot line lmao. Just because a story is driven by plot doesn't mean it needs to have normal stuff lmao. Like this nigga literally slept with his COUSIN but yall are throwing more of a fit about a poly relationship like it came out outa nowhere the signs have been there since season 1

Oliver

Please delete. Info like this is just something they put in later usually, but this is just spoiler m8 please 🙏

ConquersAll

Don't forget Misfit of Demon Academy too

Vinh Le

I still find it funny that Norn is talking about Rudy cheating on Silvie and everything but she was the one that Guilt Trip him (quite literally) into going to the Belgarit continent in the first place. Especially when she said Silvie would've saved Rudius had she been there with him, but Silvie couldn't have been there since she was pregnant, and Norn was the one that essentially that made him go away from Silvie

Justin Hearst

If you hate the harem now, you'll def hate it in the next season.

Chad

fking with Uzui but not rudy is kinda crazy

Drakuse

Yeah I can agree with that, I’m just annoyed at the dumb commentary.

ArtsySpecter

bro lost his father, his hand, didnt eat for an entire week and was in solitude and Roxy came onto him while he was under all this mental pressure its not an excuse its a very valid reason. it doesn't make the action any better but there was a good reason on why it happened

Mari

lol that’s how he feels about it, don’t know why everyone is going crazy 🤷🏽‍♂️ it has been a harem since season 1 though, it’s just has been building up to it.

Nick Vaughn

I loved every bit of Norn going in on both of them. Was 100% on her side. I get that this is the story but I just don’t care for that aspect personally

Stevetheiguana

If Rudy sees a man with a beret show up, you know it's gonna be trouble. The beret stays on

BentStraw

To be honest could never really get into the show, completely dropped it when the ED arc started lmao

Lildreezy

Nigga tha story not over with either wait for next season or stop watching

Drakuse

Facts, and “rent a trash”, talk about giving me bad memories

Metweet .c

Just you saying ladies man is cringe in itself

MrOuijaII

First Bulbasaur, then Squirtle, gotta go find a Charmander to complete the trifecta right?

ShaquanVirse

Rudy fell in love with all three of them in Season 1 - Eri was the only one who broke his heart - God if she's part of Harem, it better be a good reason - If that happens, Can we have Both Wives jump her in 😂😂😂

Jamie See

Bro it's a fantasy world. What's realistic to us in our world isn't the same as what is realistic in the mushoku tensei world. That's the whole point of a fantasy/isekai world.

Ultra Lit

Last time I checked rudy is in control of his own dick, I don't care how depressed he was. He still knew he had a pregnant wife at home so don't give me that bullshit, not to mention how the fuck did having sex instantly make his situation better? When someone is as depressed as he was sex ain't doing shit for that, it was so stupid.

Guav

worked out in his favor is a crazy thing to say, when his dad died saving him cause he wasnt fully paying attention or that he now has a mom is pretty much a vegetable

Sum1s0mewhere

As long as they don't go the Oreimo way I'm ok with it lmao I was so young back then but still get mad af when I remember

jared zavala

to bad he couldn't catch Pikachu because his poke ball was broken 😂

pp clapper

They are their own person? At this point even if Rudy shits in Sylphies lunch she's going to be okay with it. Cheat on me? No problem. Take another wife? Not worth having arguments over. None of the characters have any real pressure on Rudy. And also, where is the character growth for Rudy himself? How is he any different from Paul right now, the guy whose fuckups he's supposed to learn from?

Luhbabytay

Sheera: I don’t think she be into that Me:😏 She his cousin and she was okay with sleeping with him. (Never say never)

Luhbabytay

Cause he started off with them Roshi just don’t like how they building up to it

Ara Araragi

Agreed. I wasn't trying to say that MT is trash, just the isekai tropes themselves. MT shows how you can still make a compelling story even while using those tropes.

ArtsySpecter

not really both relationships are poly and consensual whats the difference?

YaBoyFree

guessing yous forgot that eris loves him so much she left to become the strongest swords women to protect him from getting nearly killed again from the dragon god soooo you'll see and rudy sees roxy as a godess/ has her on a pedicel( mans got the underwear in a box XD) so kinda destined for them to be together so let season 3 cook.

Luhbabytay

It started off as a harem since ep one this is slowly building up to it

ArtsySpecter

this is the best way to showcase this oml

Smitty Werbenjägermanjensen

That's cool. No one needs to like a show just because a lot of other people like it. All comes down to preferences

Albionestt

Aside from 100 girlfriends which is a comedy/gag series, all in the other shows you mentioned (no idea about misfits) the main character is not in an actual relationship with multiple people, and if he is it's just with one girl.

danial javady

I'm gonna disagree, I don't think Rudy would've been okay at all. If Roxy wasn't there he probably would've became a dead beat. It's not even about justifying his actions, that is the reality

Mistico

I’ll say it, the anime changed so much in order to cater to a “ wider audience “. There is so much context that’s being left out that I can’t even blame anime onlys for having this opinion. I think anime onlys will understand why this marriage is important when we reach turning point 4. I hope we get the sword sanctum arc before the year ends. There is this YouTuber by the name of Aninews that does a good job on explaining the cut contents, if anyone is interested. All in all, decent season and hopefully we get more episodes per volume for next season, especially for volume 14. El.. psy… congroo…

Luhbabytay

They most likely don’t remember especially sheera and Lupa. They think she just ran off for no reason 😭

Risk

also in the first season he told roxy he would marry her when he gets older and he really meant it LOL

Joshua Vail

This is where I think the adaption suffers from being just a (tiny bit) rushed we didn't have enough time to really get into rudy's emotions after pauls death as in-depth as we got in the light novel so especially due to that it seems just a bit wack. besides that I'm really excited for season 3 and I hope it doesn't come any sooner than late winter 2026/2027 and that they don't adapt as many volumes as they normally do. Ideally they only adapt 5 volumes rather the standard 6 so for any light novel readers I think it would be best to only adapt volumes 13 through 17.

Luhbabytay

But you watching them react to it so technically you didn’t drop it

Spiky

Ok I will give my opinion about the harem situation, I was against it at first but I will only say one thing : mushoku tensei is 1 of the 2 harems I respect in ficition, witch says a lot because I usually don't find them interresting or well written.

Devin B

Even when Eris left him, it took the help of Sol to get him back on his feet because when he was by himself he was just empty. He's the type of person that needs help to get over something traumatic and Roxy knew that best because she helped him get over his fear of going outside.

Luhbabytay

It started off that way, it didn’t build up to it 🤦😭

King of New York

I think a big difference is that Uzui married all 3 at once with everyone's approval but Rudy cheated on Sylphie with Roxy. Sylphie's response was basically "Yeah I figured it'd happen sooner or later, honestly I'm surprised it took this long". We also know a lot more about Rudy and what type of person he is, so that also plays a factor.

Luhbabytay

You think after hearing that her dad needed help that she was thinking about what if her brother cheat or not? 😭

Theo

You’re just unnecessarily spreading misinformation with this comment man.

Devin B

I'm mad you brought up Rent-A-Girlfriend, I attempted to read the manga to see if there was any progression but little to none. I'll never get back that time.

ArtsySpecter

also lemme add onto this that this STILL was a great reaction I respect anyone opinions on this anime since peoples feelings are valid and that's the point of a reaction channel

Luhbabytay

Tengen started off with the fact that they already his wives. It didn’t build up to it 😭 what do y’all not understand about that

Kreative

I think Sylphie was okay with it because she daw herself in Roxy. They both saved Rudy when he was at the lowest points in his life. They kind of breezed pass that part with his new state of depression from Pauls death. Rudy has already shown us how he reacts to people saving him from depression. He married Sylphie mainly as a thank you for saving him from the emotional issues he has that caused his ED. Just like Roxy saved him from his new Depression, she got him to start taking care of himself again. I think since they only showed the sex scene and the rest just as a montage, it was missed. They did a pretty bad job portraying that.

Fernando Perez

@W-Fox So polygamy is only morally ok when the dude has rizz? 😭

King of New York

Norn Norn-ing as usual. If I was Rudy I would have been like "Hmm y'know what, maybe I shouldn't have stopped you from going to help after all"

Wiggly Gecko

For me the whole thing is more like polygamy and not a harem. Its not like all the girls love him and he has an easy time. These are all long build deep relationships that makes sense. So imo calling it a harem is wrong. polygamy =/= harem

YaBoyRoshi

You literally cannot compare this to 100 Girlfriends which is a comedy anime and thats the whole gag lol

DocGreen

Y'all forget Rudy was on the verge of killing himself last time when he still had sylphy and his mom to find. He would've starved himself without Roxy. That isn't an excuse that's what happened

Nicole

I'm a harem hater but I could tolerate it for MT. Only thing I didn't like is the cheating part but whatever. Not justified but understandable

Luhbabytay

Since you said Sara I guess you didn’t read the light novel?

Eric

Sylphie knows who she married and what to expect. She was around Paul, Zenith, and Lilia all the time after Rudy got sent away. Hell, even when everyone was teleported she was at their house playing with Aisha. So she knows Rudy would probably follow in his fathers footsteps.

Bria A.

Unfortunately for me I got so worried that Sylphie was gonna lose the baby that I ended up looking it up and spoiled myself on his parental status…so at the very least I can say I was deeply unsurprised by these developments

Godrick

I totally get why some people dont like the harem thing, but TRUST they just paced the story wierd. It is actuallly important to the main plot of the story (that has been hinted at, but not revealed yet)

YaBoyRoshi

Yall acting like I said the show is ass 😂 still the best isekai thats just the singular aspect im not a fan of. The tone of this is completely different from 100 Girlfriends and whatever else yall comparing it to. 100 GF is a comedy and we are introduced to Uzui with his 3 women. I already said I have no issue with poly relationships. Its LITERALLY the way this whole thing played out Im not a fan of. I see some people saying a lot of buildup was cut and that makes sense, im approaching from an anime only viewpoint

danial javady

Holy fuck I remember that now. After Sara(that was her name right?) got mad at him, Rudy was miliseconds away from killing himself if Soldat didn't stop him. It's important to temper your expectations with Rudy, he's really one or two steps away from depravity.

Parampreet Singh

I just don’t pay too much attention to the polygamy stuff cuz the rest of the lore is dope af

King of New York

This season is definitely a filter for some of the audience lol

Krype

Sylphie is boring that’s the only reason I’m chill with it haha

Kd

Facts, hence why I commented bring a tomato last episode for this reaction could’ve threw it 🤷🏾‍♂️

King of New York

Comments were bitching so much that dad had to come and intervene

YaBoyFree

nah thats valid and all good i just said my peace to make it a lil better to understand going forward

melloburner

i feel like it this was written wayyyyyy better, it wouldn't have been so divisive. roshi has valid points

DocGreen

It wasn't even the cut content because some reactors got it some didn't. But elinalise word that Rudy would be okay doesn't mean much in comparison to Roxy. He would've died in his room or on the way back home. That's something the anime didn't portray well enough. So Roxy had too do it but at the same time wanted to do for own reasons as well.

Arturo

y'all this is not a spoiler but something that was left out, Elinalise told Rudy that Roxy had missed her period when she told him to marry Roxy, Rudy tells Sylphy that he got Roxy pregnant but Roxy tells us she isn't Rudy realizes elinalise lied to him to push him into marrying roxy

Cory

He has been in love with Roxy since the beginning, so it's not that weak in that regard, and even though the anime came out after so many other shitty Isekai's, it started ALOT of the tropes that shit that came after used poorly and it did them well. It definitely has its problems, no doubt, but the multiple wives part isn't one of then IMO.

E

I agree the reasoning can seem weak however let's remember what went down with Sylphie. Bro met her again, spent some time seeing her as one of the guys, finds out she is a girl, finds out who she is, follows her on a false quest to maintain Aerial's honor (during with they did such things as changing the weather making him think something was off with himself), found out he had ed, let's her into his room where she gets him drunk and gives him an aphrodisiac under the pretense that it was medicine. After all that the primary reason he came up with the idea to marry Sylphie was because Aerial asked him what he planned to do, from all accounts it seems like the line being drawn from rudeus pov has been quite thin. Jusy now instead of being drunk and drugged he was depressed and grieving. Also to answer your question Rudeus said he would have been furious if Sylphie did the same thing so bro's double standards are legendary.

Kd

I genuinely still don’t understand why he married Roxy it’s obvious the love for slyphie is way stronger but he wanted Roxy for sexual desires only from what we seen idc bout him having sex bc he was depressed ts still don’t make sense. He loves Slyphie Mentality, emotionally, n physically. I really don’t fw Rudy his old ass

Arturo

The anime left out Elinalise lying to Rudy about Roxy being pregnant in order into pushing him to marrying Roxy.

DJ_Pendej0

idk why they are even surprised season 1 literally showed 3 love interests and they know what type of character rudy is especially how paul was with the maid and his mom

Jmoney

Imma keep it a bean. The fandom uses the LN as a way to discredit any criticism of the series. Nothing super important was cut out that would change your views. The introduction of the harem aspect is handled extremely poorly in both

BentStraw

Yeah I skipped around in their reaction so see if there was anything to bring me back to watching the full anime? I'm paying for their patreon and watched everything else I wanted to. So might as well. I probably watched about 10-15% of the reaction.

E

Tldr, Rudy to Sylphie: you cured my depression over Eris let's get married Rudy to Roxy: you cured my depression over Paul's death let's get married. Rudy has legendary double standards

JJ_loves_日本

I get what you’re saying but the cut content and the time skips don’t help for Rudy’s seemingly quick decision. Also Roxy was gonna be the regret if Rudy didn’t go save his mom.

BentStraw

True, and did I knock anyone for liking it? no I didn't. I just stated my opinion on the show in a comment.

Arturo

rudy thinking Roxy is pregnant is something BIG that was cut off it explains why he choose to marry Roxy, Roxy informed him she wasn't and whoever told him that she was lied right after he confessed to Sylphy

JayPack

I totally understand what you guys are saying about this part of the season, this season had a lot of really important character building and dialogue skipped which took away most of the meaning behind Roxy and Rudeas's actions from the plot

Kd

🤣🤣🤣🤣

Arturo

Elinalise even goes as far as telling him Roxy would have a trash life and end up like herself if Rudy didn't marry her, this all happened when she tells him to marry Roxy

Minaeri

I really wish they made the season (Cour 1 and Cour 2 combined) 25 episodes long and made Rudy's depression in Cour 2 episode 11 longer further going into his mental state at that time. Watching it in the perspective of Anime Only, it makes sense why Rudy's reason to marry Roxy felt extremely weak. Now I personally still think that the entire situation is very messy and I would have preferred if Rudy was faithful no matter what, BUT the light novel does explain the situation a bit better than the anime. Everything underneath this line is from the LN and sorry for the long wall of text During Rudy's depression after Paul died he went for I believe a week where he didn't drink any water or food and just stayed in his room. There was a cut scene where the group were discussing on what to do with Rudy as they needed him to get back home, but all he did was stay cooped up in his room. To everyone in the party Rudy actually looked like he was on death's door and that he was just gonna die. I believe Geese mentions how in the Mushoku Tensei World, male adventurers struck with grief would go have a passionate night with a woman to feel better. Geese actually tried to convince Elinalise to sleep with Rudy, but she said no. Eventually they all gave up on the idea because in the party's eyes, Rudy was an extremely capable mage and a strong person. Because of this idea that Rudy was a strong person they all agreed that he would be ok and get back up on his own. Roxy hearing this hard disagreed with the party in her mind. She remembered the Rudy that was extremely scared to go outside his house (she still thinks he was just scared of riding a horse) and that until Roxy pushed him to ride the horse, Rudy could not get up on his own. This made her believe that although Rudy is a very capable mage, he can be extremely fragile at times. This realization for her pushed her to try and cheer Rudy up and at first just like in the anime she tried inviting him out and such but Rudy rejected her. I could be remembering this part wrong, but Roxy remembers the conversation about male adventurers bedding woman to get over their depression and after multiple failed attempts at trying to cheer up Rudy, she felt like she had no choice but to offer her own body up. She truly at the time did feel like Rudy was going to die if noone did anything. Now cut to the trip back home. The conversation with Rudy and Elinalise. That entire conversation Rudy kept rejecting the notion of marrying Roxy. He was very torn and although he already cheated on Sylphie, he wanted to at least keep his promise with Sylphie that he would only marry her. Elinalise wanting both happiness for Roxy and Sylphie then told Rudy that Roxy was pregnant. Because of this Rudy basically went o shit, I have to take responsibility. This was the primary reason why Rudy decided to marry Roxy. It wasn't as simple as Elinalise telling Rudy to marry Roxy and Rudy just immediately agreeing. Now cut to after the entire family conversation and Sylphie accepting Roxy. Rudy up to this point still believed Roxy was pregnant but when talking with Roxy, he realized Elinalise was lying to him and that Roxy wasn't actually pregnant and was just trying to push Rudy into the direction that would hopefully make Roxy and Sylphie happy at the same time.

Luhbabytay

These ppl are sensitive lol. Glad you spoke up lol

Jamie See

It just sucks they cut out context that would help said buildup. As someone who has source material knowledge in my opinion the last two episodes were still good but in some aspects things especially with the relationship with roxy and why rudeus decided to marry her were butchered. Again in my opinion. At least we got season 3 confirmed.

Sum1s0mewhere

I watched almost the entire first season of trash a gf to see if it would get better towards the end. But immediately realized it wouldn't. One of the worst MCs for me.

Stanley

Sherra made you say that didn’t she Roshi

gingerswag7

Man I would’ve told norn to take her ass up stairs so that the adults could talk it out. The only persons whose opinion is relevant in that situation is sylphys anyways.

Luhbabytay

Same I watch only the videos I’m interested

Sum1s0mewhere

Roshy says tokyo revengers is peak so I wouldn't be surprised if he says stuff like this lol

Sum1s0mewhere

Look at it this way, back in season one, he wouldn't leave the house cuz of his past trauma. Roxy was the reason he overcame that and he sees her as more than just sexual relief tbh. She was basically his first crush before silphy

Certifiedan3

Its how the anime portrayed it. There are several key scenes that would help contextualize. Most viewers would have missed how think Rudues looked, showing he was in his room for at least a week if not nearly 3

Fuji

idk man i dont see the multiple wife thing to be a big deal in this fantasy world, but i respect yalls opinion

Sum1s0mewhere

Roshi getting cooked lmao I can see why he said it tbh but once more stuff is revealed you'll understand why things happened. If you decide to drop it, it's understandable really

Kd

Then look at what he’s done with Slyphie he’s showed so much more love towards her n been with her since jits as well n got her impregnated and lives with her basically have soul ties by now. What he’s done n been through with Roxy is simply not enough to change my mind. Clearing one’s anxiety n clinging on to infant sized panties is not enough for someone to get bent head over hills n cheat n want to marry it just don’t make sense

Wiggly Gecko

I agree that it should be longer dont get me wrong. But the studio do not get to decide how long the season will be and how much money they get for the project. So imo they did a rly good job with the adaptation. Obv it could be better but adapting a LN is never easy and will almost always come with shortcomings at some point.

William Zavala

It isn't that complicated in the source material either. The polygamy aspect of the story is without a doubt the weakest aspect story wise of the entire story.

Certifiedan3

Well hopefully they’ll learn from this season and make sure to add key scenes that will help put things into context. Because I can see them blazing through a certain point

Six Paths

Sheera, Rudy absolutely was not getting better on his own, that was literally the whole point. Rudy was holed up in there for over a week not eating or sleeping. Didn't you see his skeleton looking face? He was absolutely not okay and was not getting better. His dad got sliced in half in front of him, Mom a vegetable after going through all that to save her, and lost his arm, yet everyone but Roxy is sitting there going "oh yea don't worry about it he'll get over it". Literally Rudy's entire character is based around struggling to overcome trauma and breaking out of that shell. We've known that since episode 1. He literally said that he stopped caring about living, plus he had already tried to commit suicide twice this season. Just like at the start of the show, Roxy helped him overcome his trauma yet again. It's okay to not like it, but don't just reject everything the show is telling you.

Kenyon

"Rudy wouldnt off himself" ... he literally did THIS season

William Zavala

Season 1 was a while ago. I wouldn't have known if I didn't see spoilers

Kenyon

I mean even in the anime rudy did give pushback to the idea that he should marry roxy so idk why people are saying he just went with it right away

William Zavala

I think multiple love interests is a hard thing to write and make it half decent in regards to the story. I have actually never seen it done right, Japan is obsessed with Harem and I never really got it despite growing up on animes that had it, in the end they always end up with one girl. This one is just straight up not that and I can't lie it is so polarizing, I fall onto the side that doesn't really like it because I do not relate to it at all.

Kenyon

Also i genuinely cant believe people thought this wasnt going to be a harem anime, that shit was so obvious even when paul and zenith stayed together after the lilia incident

Chance branch

Think this is the biggest flaw of the season tbh, A LOT of the relationship stuff got cut out, so justifications seem really weak in the adaptation.

William Zavala

harem is polygamy, polygamy isn't harem. at this point its polygamy but it gets so whacky that it becomes a harem.

Lil Pickle

Hey as long as they happy, im happy that's why I have no problem with this, and its ok to not like a harem, but don't let that ruin a masterpiece like this for you.

Alexander S

“Paul added Zenith to the roster”? You mean all the way back during his adventurer days?

Delinda Arts

wanting to marry Roxxie just bc she gave Rudy anti-depressant cheeks is insane to me lmao. What is this show thinking mane.

damein brown

I agree with Chance Branch! I tell everyone to read the light novels for better context! I love the channel!

David Schultz

I think apparently in the LN they showed Sylphie thinking about Paul's relationship[ with Zenith and Lilia. Sylphy hung there a lot and was use to seeing a family where a guy had two wives and kids with both of them. Obviously it's a fantasy world and shit like that can happen. It's not everyone's cup of tea, but at the end of the day. It's just a piece of fiction written by someone.

Moon Man

The difference is that we know nothing about Uzui's inter-personal relationships, and everything about Rudy's because that's kind of a mechanic of the narrative in Mushoku. And also the fact that 2 of his future partners were kids when he was first interested in them really doesn't make the whole harem thing feel right, at least in Uzui's case they're all similar ages (all 4 of them within 4 years of each other).

Jay Norris

Bro, this is a different world in that world men have multiple wives all the time. See when you watch shows about fictional worlds we can’t put our morality and our moral values into that world. She was OK with it because it’s not something that’s extremely uncommon in that world they live in. Tell you the truth it’s not really uncommon and all world. It’s just uncommon in this US American bubble we live in.

Jay Norris

It’s not about him harming himself it’s about they need him to get back. It was a brief flash, but they had to fight a lot of monsters to come back, and if they didn’t have Rudy 100%, they wouldn’t have defeated all those monsters on the travel back. And they had to escort, his mother back. So yeah they needed him at 100%. That’s the reason they didn’t leave immediately because he wasn’t 100% in the book. They explained that they needed him to be 100% for the dangerous travel back.

Jon won

To be fare in the book he thought she was pregnant to shame they cut it out

Jamaal Ellison

If you're cool with the incest in House of The Dragon and Game Of Thrones I don't think it should be that difficult to get your head around this. My man worshipped her panties.

Jon won

In the book he was also under the impression Roxy was pregnant at the time. It's a shame everything they cut out just made Roxy look worse and worse

SolarPaul

Shera hit the nail on the head about how Sylphy feels and the Roxy/Rudy dynamic. I think the reason Roshi (and a lot of people) aren't buying the Roxy x Rudy relationship is because ya'll are focused on what JUST happened rather than the story as a whole. Rudy didn't just fall in love with Roxy, remember he has had a huge crush on Roxy since he was literally 4 years old lol, he's always had immense love for her the dungeon situation was just the catalyst to trigger the actual romance. But yea keep in mind this is the dude who was worshipping her panties for 10+ years, writing to her every day before the teleportation disaster, and turned to worshipping her to try and get over his ED, the feelings were always there. The anime could have done a better job of reminding people though, because without that context it does feel a little rushed

Jalen Holmes

He's joking when he says that tho lol

Alexander S

How is that double standards lol. Nothing hypocritical about that.

Alexander S

Rudy literally tried offing himself earlier in the season like what. If Zoldat hadn’t been there, Rudy would be dead

SolarPaul

The anime could have done a better job building up to it for sure, but I think people are so focused on Eris/Sylphy that ya'll are forgetting Roxy was LITERALLY Rudy's first love and he has loved her since he was like 4 years old. This isn't as :out of nowhere" as people think, if you go abck and rewatch the series you'll see Rudy gushing about and praising Roxy constantly even more than Sylphy and Eris

Alexander S

“Season 1 was a while ago” is a poor excuse. That’s like saying the Saiyan saga was a while ago so I forgot Yamcha died.

Jamaal Ellison

Goddamn the voice acting was exceptional this episode.

SolarPaul

Bro, are you paying attention to the show? No not everyone is ok with Rudy doing whatever he wants, only Sylphy because her ENTIRE character is about supporting Rudeus NO MATTER WHAT which is what he needed when he was depressed BUT ALSO it enables his worst attributes (like cheating), that's what we call a FLAW in Sylphy's character. Wait until S3 and you'll see why, people are acting like this is the end of the series, it's not even halfway over....trust me there are repercussions for all this shit Rudy is doing. Also no, Eris doesn't fuck with Rudy doing whatever he wants she is the disciplinarian who keeps him in line.

Jamaal Ellison

Yep just like when Rudy was purchasing a slave.

Nick

this shit was only 2 episodes is that a long time lmao

SolarPaul

You are incorrect, Roxy did not get pregnant, Elinalise LIED about it so Rudy would take responsibility. And honestly cutting that out was a good thing because now it makes their relationship more genuine rather than just "Rudy being forced to marry her by Elinalise"

SolarPaul

1. Thats not how it works, people in extreme depression like that literally cannot think straight and are vulnerable, YOU and everyone else would have done the same. That doesn't make it right and its not an excuse, but thinking otherwise shows extreme immaturity. 2. Watch the show, Sylphy explained why she was fine with it, even as far back as S1 this was foreshadowed when Sylphy learns Paul cheated and says "I guess Rudy would do the same", she's accepted that he would cheat on her since they were 5 lol. Sylphy's entire character is about being Rudy's biggest simp, yes she would accpet and encourage through almost anything...that's a FLAW of hers that will come back to bite her very badly in S3.

ArtsySpecter

when did i say eris lets him do what he wants? also I never said there wouldn't be repercussions nothing you said refutes what I said. Also I never said everyone is okay with what he does that's clear I said the SHOW was constantly showing how paul and rudy are similar lmao even in this episode it shows that so again nothin you said refutes anything I said

Solemnity

Roshi's problem with it was how it happened. We don't even know the circumstances behind Uzui's marriages, so how can you expect him to have a problem with it?

Ultra Lit

No the fuck I wouldn't and don't ever try to claim what someone else else would've done in real life just to defend a fictional series that does a poor job of trying to justify someone cheating on their wife. Yep everything is magically OK cause sylphy knows rudy is prev and that absolved him of any consequences for his actions lol, what a fucking joke. What was the point of rudy even mentioning he'd be faithful if he was just going to turn his back on his own word just because he got depressed? Yeah I'd never defend BS like that.

Six Paths

Fair enough to not like how it happened, and last episodes adaptation did cut a lot too. Please just keep in mind that Rudy was not getting better, and even if what she did was wrong, she literally did save him. He was starving himself to the point that he looked like a skeleton and had stopped caring about living. The whole point of Rudy's character is that he struggles to overcome trauma, and Roxy was the only one who understood that. As for the weak reasoning, cut content didn't help, but Rudy has worshipped and loved Roxy since the beginning, even praying to her panties every day for years and using it as a comfort object when he was suicidal. They just spent months together trying to save Zenith, culminating in her saving him from his trauma yet again. Right or wrong, he wanted to make the person he loves and reveres happy, and live his life without any regrets. I don't think that's weak reasoning at all.

Mad4Life

Okay after watching the whole reaction, Roshi you got a point.

SolarPaul

Remember what Elinalise said about it being possible to love more than one person? It's not a competition, he loves both in very different ways for different reasons. Paul also said the same thing, he loves both his wives in very different ways. Rudy has been OBSESSED with Roxy literally since he was 4 years old, she is his actual ideal women and first crush, those feelings have only gotten more intense since then. i mean he was literally worshipping her used panties....it's fair to say he likes her quite a bit this doesn't come out of nowhere. As for the cheating, he normally wouldn't have but he was in an extremely vulnerable and compromise deposition and desperate for someone to comfort him. Hence why Roxy took advantage. Rudy loves Sylphy the way Paul loves Zenith: as a wife in the most romantic sense possible, they are soul mates. But his love for Roxy comes from an intense respect, admiration, and idolization of her, he views her as his savior and someone he should be devout to in an almost religious way.

Kurumi

i mean a harem in a isekai is like the MOST common plot thread lol. If anything I thought this was one of the more well written one's even with the anime skipping over details in between

Devin B

His trauma from is old world still followed him to this world and Roxy was able to get him through it. Even if you don't see it as a big deal it's obvious that Rudy worships her to the point of having a shrine with her panties in it. It's just a different kind of love from Sylphie's.

JotaroDrake

I like Roxy more idc lmaooo

Luhbabytay

Why would he drop it? He never said he didn’t like the show

Rakudai

I get you do the laziest type of content on the platform, but I would expect you to understand the story a bit more.

PsilocybinJunky

ill just briefly say why cuz i doubt anyone actually cares but the anime changed it massively rudeus spent weeks without talking or leaving his room before roxy did the only thing she thought might help elinalise lied to rudeus and told him roxy was pregnant to entice him to marry her elinalise pushed roxy to fuck him in the first place He told roxy the truth in a "hypothetical" question about living a life before this one there's so much more, idk why the anime changed it in a way to make rudeus and roxy both look bad but they did and leave out so much context/buildup they could have included if they really wanted to lol keep in mind this was his hero that helped him break out of his shell and leave the house whos panties he started a religion around and worshipped the whole time doing all that and being told he got her pregnant......it kind of makes more sense with all that instead of "we fucked so now marry"

Kidhavac

Oooooo more comments then likes this can’t be good😂😂

Sauceless

I understand what your saying I also don’t like poligamy but I like the story

Minaeri

Yea unfortunately thats why its only a wish... the anime would have benefited a lot just from that extra episode tbh

Pan Cakes

LMFAOO BRO WHY ARE YOU GOING AFTER THEM 😭😭

HawaiinHercules

Roxy not only helped save Rudeus during the aftermath of Paul's death, but also is the reason he went outside in this world in the first place and was the reason he was able to find the courage to try living life again. Remember, Rudeus was still not over his past trauma in the beginning of his reincarnation and was too afraid to leave the house still. He also clearly looked up to Roxy and adored her since they met, but I understand their relationship being hard to buy into considering the time gap in their relationship + cut LN stuff + it not getting as much lead up as his relationship with Sylphy

Gran_Air

Tengen: Flirting Rudeus: Sexual harassment

Luhbabytay

Wait was you replying to me? Or the other guy? lol Patreon so confusing

earthphoenix7068

This meme and Always has been is the sum of this entire series

earthphoenix7068

That’s what Roshi gaming is for dawg chill 😭

Seraph_Dalgon_

Fantastic season, fantastic reactions. I look forward to seeing you guys for Season 3

danial javady

y'all gotta chill with the 100 girlfriends comparison 😭😭that shit is meant to be troll. The tengen one is fair though. Take a step back, the gang is probably disappointed in Rudy in cheating. It also hits personally, nobody likes that shit, it can be hard to get past. I couldn't ever get past the last episode of s1 berserk, it ruined the entire series for me because I just couldn't do it(extreme example) But for sure y'all have too much faith in Rudy. I genuinely can easily see Rudy crashing out and becoming a deadbeat again, or villain/anti-hero, all it takes is one tragedy. That's what i like about this one, and rezero - the main charactrs aren't immune. I'll also end this off with the fact that Sylphie admitted to LITERALLY doing the exact same thing Roxy did had she been in her shoes.

Oh Alone

I don’t expect this seriousness. Actually I think after this EP ending Roshi is gonna slowly look at Sheera and say “Sheera let me ask you something ?”

Cameron Robinson

I kind of like they cut out, seemingly Elainalise’s meddling, because I kind of think that would’ve ruined her as a character for me.

Drake Chuckle

I don't know man, isn't it refreshing that an isekai with a harem in it is actually commiting to the harem instead of just having no one ever get together while the MC blushes and runs away from everything?

Danger Tomato

My guy it's fine to have multiple wives

Stellarnut

Roshi must really hate Tengen Uzui then. Dang I never knew.

Arkan Matlub

Not trying to be rude or offensive but it doesn't say a lot since you're just a random guy on the internet

earthphoenix7068

Lupa covering his mouth in shock. Roshi with his hand pressed on the side of his face. Sheera looking at Rudy Sus. A B S O L U T E C I N E M A

1mikeap4

The way the polygamy came about isn’t the best, but I think there’s plenty of room for it to develop into a functional relationship. Paul’s situation with Lilia was way worse, yet they still managed to make things work. And once you have a child like Aisha born from the result it becomes hard to look back and call it a mistake. Overall I think Mushoku Tensei does a better job than any typical harem series at trying to portray the issue of polygamy in a grounded and respectful manner.

Sum1s0mewhere

No like actually, he even said it on Twitter and on another video reaction here. He's excited for another season.

Sum1s0mewhere

Well they cut this part but silphy's grandma lied to Rudy about Roxy being pregnant

Stellarnut

Dang, people really be doggin on Rudy acting like he went on a spring break and banged random hoes and not like he went to a death dungeon he didnt want to got to and watched his dad die while losing and arm and retrieving a brain dead mother, crazy out here.

Sum1s0mewhere

They showed how uzui got his wife's didn't they? But maybe cuz he's cool and attractive which makes it ok I guess. Kazuma could have a harem too but he too scared to actually go for it

DocGreen

You could tell that by his face

Hi How are ya

oh brother...these future reactions gonna be so fucking funny..imma come back to this episode in a few years haha..

DocGreen

No its not. It's literally one of strongest. You just don't like it

Clasher

While Elinalise did say she thought that Rudeus would be alright, at the end of the day that was her opinion. Her views on death and understanding of rudeus are a lot different from rudeus himself. She has never seen Rudeus in a vulnerable state previously whether it be Rudeus' past life or the immediate aftermath after his falling out with Sara. The only vulnerable state she had seen Rudeus in was him being depressed with his ED but still managing to move forward, progress and live his life. Roxy had different views in that her opinion was that Rudeus wouldn't be able to recover on his own as she had seen him in a vulnerable state when he was scared to leave his house in buena village. In my opinion, I also don't think Rudeus would have been ok or be able to recover on his own

NovaVortex

I get where Roshi is coming from. Don't mess with the story or character development for the sake of fan service

DoctorOS

A few things, the greyrat line is pretty promiscuous and its known very well so it’s pretty much expected. Also Nobles that don’t follow millis commonly take multiple wives, something Sylphy would have seen in the years working for Ariel. It’s less that she had less faith in rudeus but that it was an expected behavior because of who he is. I’m not going to spoil anything but the other aspect we need to look at it from is norn is clearly the stand in for the audience in this episode in regards to the Roxy situation. However Millis isn’t the only religion. And we’re in a medieval time setting where it would be more commonplace. In the series the few times multiple partners have come up the only ones with issues have been mlllis followers, both of which Rudy and Sylphy do not follow.

debo

I def don’t like it either but it was expected not only is not that uncommon in that world but Rudy has 3 different love interest there was no like main love interest knowone he was gonna obviously pick out of the 3 there was no plot tryna figure out who he would choose or nothing so when he got with sylphie it woudnt make sense for the show and Rudy to just fg about eris and Roxy romantically idk if ik making sense but yea

Kevin Fernández

They cut the reason of why he really decided to marry her in the last episode, a lot happened that they cut.

Stellarnut

yeah they kinda spazing out lol like what show have you been watching? and now, I already know they bout to hate the rest of this story lmao

Xavier Baker

nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, tbh the only reason why i let this harem thing go for this SPECIFIC situation is because when you face a life and death situation ,you tend to retrospect and be like "Damn i almost didnt get to this or that" so i get it ,it was just kinda weird

kristian

Roshi stop cock blockin

Caleb Gaming9099

Norn said everything I wanted to say, I do not mess with this

kristian

Personally none of this shxt matters where is the goat Eris

radeb

calm down bro it's just a show, idk why are you taking it like it's trying to teach you life advice.

radeb

Lil bro is still blushing to this day seeing Chizuru underwear in the washing machine, the manga is so trash lmao.

DocGreen

That's not what happened especially if you paying attention

NovaVortex

It feels like it. Though there are many complex things happening and that have happened that make the nuances a bit muddy to break apart.

Jonathan Sessoms

lol welp they about to hate season 3 cause yeah

OnceUponABowl

oh poor roshi he has no idea how right he is lol

DocGreen

Not true at all. He deemed Roxy to good for him at first. Also she is the one he was thinking about the most during season 1 and when Eris left him. He loves them both equally but for different reasons.

Gunny

I'm ngl that's just how they are which I could care less, but they tend to unironically double standard most situations.

Charcoal

I get what you're saying Roshi but you also have to think back across the whole series. Rudy has held Roxy in VERY high regard since the start of the show. While he didn't have romantic feelings he always felt incredible admiration for her as his master and only once Roxy displayed her own romantic feelings did that admiration turn into romantic feelings on Rudy's end. Polygamy is hard to do well but for the most part I think this was done in a mature and understandable way. Now, if it goes down that road which I feel like it will, bringing Eris into it is where shit will be hard to defend.

Smitty Werbenjägermanjensen

Ngl I meant the other guy but it's whatever. Patreon gotta make this a bit more user friendly 😭

KElz

Spoilers There is no regret. Hitogami is evil. Orsted is the good guy.

Sum1s0mewhere

Glad I didn't read it then. Saved some time lmao

Arima kana

Reject Paul, understand Paul, accept Paul, become Paul, surpass Paul

Anime Overview

tengens wives knew he wanted 3 wives. Rudues said Slyphie would be enough and then went and cheated

Lildreezy

Tha Roxy shii felt way more fleshed out in the light novel the Eris shii was tha definition of forced and rushed

Bighusky

“It follows the isekai harem trope” no it created the trope 😂

DocGreen

Wrong. Rudy was in there for over a week. He would be dead if it was a month. Also the writer works with the staff closely. He chose to have Roxy be the aggressor because he wanted as much responsibility out on Roxy as rudy

Cain Olivares

its only weird because of the world you currently live in

SirFappington

In the show he was technically assaulted. He never agreed to it and had to be convinced that it was OK.

Ginger Dwarf

The jesus consent meme. Rudeus, Slyphie and Roxy: "I consent" Sheera and Roshi: "I don't" 'Isn't there someone you forgot to ask?

Gran_Air

It’s obvious that cheating is wrong but there’s so much more context than just “Rudy cheat so Rudy bad” it’s like you’ve watched the whole show so far and still don’t understand what it’s trying to tell you

JJ Gilmore

All of them is a follow of Millis and just like Cliff and Norn and it’s okay 😂😂 but for me I would like to have two wife’s like Roxy and Sylphy

Ginger Dwarf

I gotta stop judging the whole reaction off just the description. I keep seeing it and going "Oh boy here we g o" then it's just a normal ass good reaction. Clapped myself

Unlucky Trandon

I think my only problem with the whole Roxy thing is that there doesn't seem to be any consequences to Rudeus cheating on Slyphie with Roxy, maybe there will be in the next season but from what it looks like, there doesn't seem to be one. Still an amazing show tho.

Umbra_Nex

I dont think the emotional aspect with Roxy is weak. Ya gotta remember, he has basically been worshiping her memory the entire time. Hes been holding on to really strong emotions for her for over a decade. It makes sense that they could morph into romantic love after they slept together.

DJ_Pendej0

deadass did they forget rudy kept roxys panties and prays to it every now and then lmao like come on yall knew what rudy was about

Lildreezy

That’s facts😂😂

DJ_Pendej0

not to forget rudy kept roxys panties and prays to them lmao

DBJXXVIII

Aye I felt the same way as you Roshi, just not feeling the harem shit

ERRORCODE616

Though the harem shit just makes me laugh, I like that you guys care enough about the story and Rudy/Sylphie/Roxy as characters to have strong opinions about their relationship. I will say (without spoilers) that at least to where I am in the light novel, the harem shit just kinda becomes an occasional goofy aside and doesn't really affect the main plot arc of Rudy/the Man-God/etc. So you don't really have to worry about the integrity of the story being ruined. As someone who used to be into harem anime/manga as a teenager, I'm just glad they actually fucking talked it out, and the main plot isn't just a bunch of girls constantly fighting over the MC with no other substance. It's still goofy, but its a level of goofy that's on par with the rest of the comedic character interactions.

Six Paths

Agreed. I don't think they realize how much Roxy has meant to Rudy throughout the entire series. They even foreshadowed it as early as the second episode. Rudy told Roxy that he likes her, and she told him if he still feels that way in 10 years to say it again. Sure enough, 10 years later, he tells her he loves her.

Six Paths

They completely forgot the reason she left lmao

Panda

@errorcode Small spoiler to Anime onlys but ill avoid anything specific to anyone who didn't read the LN(shit pretains to season 3), there is a reason why rudy ends up with multiple wifes and we find out why in s3. It's the consequence of someone else's actions to keep rudy away from them.

Seibahhh

Season 3 is gonna be the most hype yet. MT is truly the top1 Isekai

Panda

Imo it's not the best reason for the relationship itself, but for what it pertains to the plot. It's a pretty interesting reality that happened, and elevates characters depth, specifically the one who made the mistake.

Fenpai

I think people just see the cheating and just stop thinking at that point. I've never had this happen to me, but I think I can sympathize just a little bit. Buddy had to watch his bisected dad's final moments, burn his body immediately, lose his hand, and come to dark discovery his mom is a vegetable. Just because someone says "he'll get over it, he's the him after all" doesn't mean that's manifesting. Obviously he has his kid to think about, and maybe that would of helped, but everything I said above is the reality. If anyone can pull themselves up from that the next day, congrats your mind is an unbreakable palace.

Ocean⭐️

He gotta kid onna way bro i garentee he wouldve thought ab his kid he wouldn’t have killed hiself

AbstractDread

Not gonna lie the anime did a terrible job this season of explaining people's feelings and thought processes. For example in the LN when Paul died Rudy almost lost his mind and gave up on life even with a kid on the way hence even it being a little fucked up, Roxy saved him. Another thing is hoe Elain explained to Rudy that if he let Roxy go she would live the rest of her life like it wasn't worth anything since she loved him and couldn't be with him. these small tidbits and some others would have helped people understand the circumstances of this season better. Hopefully the do a better job next season.

CentipedeKid

Fr like this entire plot line is fucked up.

CentipedeKid

Norn was spitting how the fuck are you gonna cheat on your pregnant wife and bring the bitch home.

SenseiDbo

Dang my boy roshii did NOT consent

SenseiDbo

Yea roshii just doesn’t remember the bond Rudy and Roxy shared in the first season man… Rudy literally worships her panties and claims her to be his goddess bruh… like it’s not just some random chick he met in high school… plus at the end of the day it’s a fucking isekai harem anime… it’s just that in this anime he actually Marries the women instead of leading all 10 of them on the entire show and never progressing anywhere for 5 seasons

Fraudkuna

Damn, bro really got his feelings hurt over a reaction.

Whyyeezus

Norn was spitting, Roshi was spitting, harem trope is so ass but I was expecting it to go this way so it's w/e.

Panda

You guys gotta remember one thing about Sylphie, she def in a way had no faith rudy was gonna stay loyal. The anime showed us that but it was mostly cour 1, when she was considering how many other women she would allow in their life if he turned out like paul. So i wouldn't say she was forced into this situation, because we have her perspective. She defiantly knew this could end up how things turned out. Ngl, i think the show could work as a non-harem, if rudy had to choose here. It would just require A LOT more drama to be added to the show, which might also turn people on or off to the show. In the end the harem route does allow the plot to progress more smoothly i guess, to give it some credit.

MGC

At the end of the day it's a fantasy world where its been established that marrying multiple people is accepted in a lot of circles. If you're thinking he should still stick to his old worlds standards regardless, then realize he's been in this world for almost 18 years now, and grew up with a dad that ended up with 2 wives. If that still isn't enough to convince, then idk what can. Even IRL there's people who have the capacity to love multiple people equally but for different reasons. If you don't believe that to be true or possible, that just means you're not someone who could do it. Most people can't, myself included.

Israel Magana

It became a trope after this? Wasn’t this the first Isekai and all the others followed it?

Seibahhh

its not as simple as bland harem -rudy got his strength to go out into the world from roxy in episode 2 and 3 -sylphie was his first friend and helped him with his ED (rudy didnt think he would have any friends) -and its normal in the MT universe to have multiple wives as long as you dont follow the teachings of millis, having multiple husbands is not normal there (just like medieval times in our world so i dontget why yall see that as a problem and as a "weird dynamic") -plus its all about living without regrets. Roxy wouldve most likely never been happy if she didnt marry rudeus and that wouldve been a regret on his site

GJ

Yeah

Its an anime. its harem.

Seibahhh

i never said the opposite lmao

about what sheera said about him not being likely to off him self. im not so sure, he was pretty quick to try and end his life just because eris left and if it wasn't for soldat he would have been dead. this is also rudy's third time falling into depression. *his old life, when eris left him, and paul dying*

Acen Yang

@Ultra Lit When you're speaking logical facts and a Mushoku Tensei Gooner tells you "Pussy is the best anti-depressant"

Rudeus Love them all, Without going into details that will spoil things ahead, who he ended up with 1st was just a matter of luck.

Fizzy 🐉

Don’t know why people were on Roshi head lol his reaction is completely warranted the fact that he stated that he is happy that Rudy happy goes to show his investment into the show and character, he never said he hated the show it is a criticism every anime ain’t perfect and that okay.

Fizzy 🐉

He doesn’t lol he explained his reasoning on Twitter.

Fizzy 🐉

Ngl Roshi stance properly would of change if the anime actually showed how detrimental Rudy frame of mind at time was when Paul died he literally, in a deep state of depression for weeks to the point Elinaise thought he was gonna kill himself.

Fizzy 🐉

Not even that lol the cut out a lot of stuff

Fizzy 🐉

@ocean buddy in the novel he was gonna off himself you gotta realise how weak mentally Rudy is

Dune

I haven't watched their reaction but I have seen the episode and just based on the description I gotta say I agree with roshi. I didn't really care for Rudy and roxy. if anything I hope it doesn't get to a point where he meets back up with eris and she somehow becomes a wife as well. If it's just sylphie and roxy that's fine I guess.

Step Joe

I think this is the only anime Ive watched where they dont scream in your ears that it will be a harem anime.

YungZeus

Me when I lie

DocGreen

MT has never done anything for just fan service unless it's some background character

Six Paths

They even foreshadowed it as early as the second episode. Rudy told Roxy that he likes her, and she told him if he still feels that way in 10 years to say it again. Sure enough, 10 years later, he tells her he loves her.

fili0938

Because it undermines MT's attempt to not be total wish fulfilment. Now Rudy is superpowerful and he gets a harem. And worst of all Rudy gets a harem through cheating on his wife. The story is supposed to punish such behavior, not reward it.

Nyarlathothep's nyaughty discord kitten

That's actually a better answer than I expected but I still do not understand where you are getting what the show is "supposed" to be and do. So you are basically saying that part of the reason you watch Mushoku Tensei is to get a fable-like morality clause, am I getting that right?

Oni Tyrone

But Paul was able to do it with multiple women, be forgiven, and even have a whole other kid around and he still managed to live a good life until the mana disaster. Maybe his death was karma for how shitty he lived but it also showed how shitty a person can be and still be rewarded with happiness.

kale k

Lmao

kale k

Just because it "feels like it" doesn't mean it's what's happening. Don't blame the show for your inability to follow plotlines

MrxPresident

Exciting can’t wait for season three relationships is a big deal. There is a reason for everything. Everybody that knows you know. I don’t think this is to much info though.

OllyOxenfree

Just want to point out that cheating and the culture around it is very different in Japan than it is here in America. Just watch abba and preach reacting to Jp cheating culture to find out about it.

UNI

if only she had the energy towards her dad but I guess we gonna act like she was spitting for whatever reason.

Jose silva

Terrible job at adapting this part of the light novel, i get they dint have the budget but damm they made this whole affair seem so cheap,

fili0938

I watch Mushoku Tensei for its promise of turning a POS into a decent human being. I'm a sucker for self-improvement in anime. So yes on some narrative level cheating should be punished. Even Rudy's relationship with underage Eris was punished with his ED. The ED stuff happened as a direct result of Rudy having sex with someone who wasn't mature enough for it yet.

Nyarlathothep's nyaughty discord kitten

Let's say then that we have different ways of and reasons for watching media, I guess. While I do not agree too much with it, your opinion is at least respectable, so thank you for elaborating and making me understand a little better.

Clinton the Bingethinker

I feel like when Eris makes her return next season, at least initially, she’ll still want to be with Rudy. Unless I’m misremembering, one of the main reasons for why she left in the first place is because she wasn’t able to protect Rudy from the dragon dude that killed him. She left with Ghislaine to get much stronger which, in her view, will make her a worthy protector and partner for Rudy. But also, it’s been years. Maybe she won’t want what she used to want. Either way, made me happy seeing her in the closing credits—she’s by herself, though, wonder where’s Ghislaine?

CentipedeKid

The situation with Paul was completely different. She was born into that mess and if you are referring to when he cheated after the man's event he didn't even know if his family was still alive and she was 5. She's old enough to understand that Redeus and Roxy fucked up.

NovaVortex

Thanks for your feedback. I may not understand certain scenarios but that doesn't mean I actively want to hate the show or judge it's audience. Edit: I confused this show for slime, which is actually the one getting dropped. I also saw other comments saying there was some material left out which might've helped me understand the situation better. In any case, onwards to season 3

Seibahhh

you guys had a question about if he the story was going to go up to if he was like 50s or 60s so if you want to know I will say now if you dont just stop here....yes it will go past his 70s so we will see a lot.

Mohd

if you have an issue with what roshi said you are a degenerate lol

Skelerew

The content for season 3 is be so good. I really hope they adapt it well. A lot will be revealed, as well as questions from both seasons 1 & 2 will be answered. Lets just say you will understand why some things have played out the way they have since turning point 3

Offw0rlder

Nah I’m repping Rudy like Roshi repped Bill back in the day 🤣🤣🤣

Candy

i feel like these 3 didnt see this coming , theres still one more girl left eris

Arsean Wilbon

you could tell the harem route was the route way early on. His dad has two wives then Rudy meets and falls in love with 3 women who have significant value to the plot. Only one way that can end.

Shahbaj Mohammad

Well rudy wasn't mature either, age has nothing to do with maturity, specially in his case. And physically he was younger than Eris. Ppl in real world get ED too. Its not exactly a punishment either. U might as well say he was stripped naked in school and bullied to depression as a divine punishment for standing up for a girl. U started strong but ended with a L.

Shahbaj Mohammad

He is an incel who can't read. Don't mind him.

Shahbaj Mohammad

Its not exactly troupe if u made it, it's troupe if others follow. Isekai harem was started by Mushoku

AutumnOnFire

Thank you! Good explanation. I've read up to volume 24, and a lot of content was skipped unfortunately. Season 3 has the potential to be absolutely historic, just hope they adapt it well.

envy

I find harems extremely annoying to watch so I usually steer clear of them to begin with. Polygamy is not something I personally favor, but I get how it can work for some people and situations. For example, I fuck wit Uzui and them. HOWEVER, CHEATING??? Absolutely unacceptable. That’s so trash like… Roxy knew he was a married man and took advantage of him. Even if she was somewhat doing him a favor, that’s so disrespectful to Sylphie. 💯 home-wrecker behavior. And Rudy? I don’t even know what I expected from him. Was hoping he might be more devoted after getting married but 🤷🏽‍♀️ He’s far too indulgent and just making excuses for himself while disregarding the ppl around him. “I just wanna make Roxy happy; she picked me up when I was down” Yea ok nigga, that’s real convenient🙄 She’ll get over it, I promise you. Absolutely no self control 🤦🏽‍♀️

Kelven_140

in the novel there is more build up for this... the anime did it poorly here. Slyphie know what kinda of man she married to and she said it to Roxy. Plus this is isekai so I don't think people should take it too seriously overall. I understand your point btw. That's how I feel about it.

Darksteel78

No friend zones in anime? No friends with benefits? Every love interest must requite Rudy's love? I think the plot would have been fine if he had a Paul x Elinalise x Ghislaine-type relationship with all 3 of these love interests: hanging out on occassion, doing business together, plus the occassional freak session. 😂

Darksteel78

I just started reading the light novel after the last episode. Some fun times ahead for sure. The motivation for Rudy to marry Roxy was built on a long standing affection Rudy has had for Roxy since the beginning of the series. The light novel adds another piece of motivation to make Rudy want to "make things right" by marrying her, but I think the anime could have spent a bit more time getting into Rudy's mind space after Paul's death since they decided to cut that part out. This show definitely shows much more than it tells, especially for these finale episodes, but I think a bit more internal monologue would have better positioned the plot and viewer for the harem.

OceanPhantom

Messy messy messy messy all I can say 😂

E

Him saying he would be mad if Sylphie did the same thing but hoping she wouldn't be mad at him for doing it.

ZOOM

s3 is where the plot begins

y0ungship

I guess roxy fixes that since she should be older than him both lives combined lol

y0ungship

Bro them kids had no business being a part of that convo lol.

Dud3 itsj3ff

I don't know anymore than yall do, I haven't done anything but watch the anime... that being said, he's 100000% going to marry Eris. ain't no way he doesnt XD

UselessAssassin

Im just gonna say this. Whether you agree or not, the normal of the world is polygamy for those who do not follow millis. I don't think that really makes someone bad or good, it's just normal over there?

Dud3 itsj3ff

also, it's not like Rudy only wanted to marry Roxy because of what happened in the dungeon. he loved her ever since she was teaching him... She's the one who got him to leave the house as a kid. Before her, he was deathly afraid of the outside world, but she got him over the trauma from his past life. I mean the bro held on to her panties for a decade!!! ofc he had feelings for her. If he had met Roxy before Sylphie, he would have married her for sure and then been in the same situation with Sylphie being the second wife... or Eris for that matter. He's shown he loves all 3.

Mr. Glasses

One of the major reasons I loved Attack On Titan is it managed to be insanely good without sexualizing it's female characters or doing any trope-y female anime character stuff. I don't think this show(Mushouku) benefits in any way from having the MC take on multiple wives. It doesn't contribute anything meaningful to the plot or character development. It literally just feels like some weird fantasy ish.

Jun Rivera

Idk if anyone on here has said it. I haven't read the manga or anything like that but I think they probably cut out a bunch of stuff from the season and from my understanding of the situation the way he was talking to his sister in this episode. He fell back down into depression into a hole he couldn't get out to the point where he was not doing anything and am pretty sure he was not eating cause it looks like he lost weight. So a small timeskip happen after they burn the body and they didn't explain that part enough 🤔 am not defending it. But at the same time I can see the reasoning when he worships Roxy and then she kinda saved him from falling back down into the depression

Jimmy

I see what you all are saying, but if Rudy and Sylphie are happy there really isn't a problem. Had she not been ok with it, Rudy would have squashed it. LOL

soul keeper

Gotta remember there still an isakai. The originator, so probably gonna see a lot of that

Denickart

Since when were harems a trope in isekai? Honestly I can't think of too many anime in general that actually go through with a harem ending. They usually just float the idea.

Vinny Deluca

That wouldn’t contribute nearly as much to his character or the story.

Denickart

Kinda early to make that judgement since it literally just happened. Unless you're spoiling

AKAustin

Gonna be real, I thought you guys would be way more aggressive with your opinion on the whole marrying Roxy plot point but you guys were more or less tame to a degree. The whole reasoning behind the entire situation is a bit out of context since the last episode was trying to rush through the material, but essentially, some key dialogue and information was left out that would have reduced the dislike of the whole thing. But pretty much in the LN he was told by Elinalise Roxy was pregnant during their trip back home. Thinking that, he would take responsibility and take care of her. They kinda went around that tidbit and just had it that he was unsure of how things were to go. It's a pretty mixed moment that I understand how people would feel about the whole situation. Sylphie also like she said knew that someday he would do something, it was hinted earlier in the season that she was fine with him getting someone else but they didn't show a lot of that dialogue either which had more of her feelings on the whole matter. She knew Rudy truly loved her regardless of other women popping up and she didn't let that stop her from loving him all the same. Personally, I don't mind this event and really it serves as a bigger role in the future that I won't talk about but in that moment it showed that even as messy the situation is, Rudy is REALLY fucking lucky Sylphy is the woman she is otherwise he would have met his dad 6 feet under in no time. I'm glad they showed that Roxy being apart of the family didn't hinder their relationships in the end and show that they could all be happy together. I really enjoyed this season but tbh, this is only the end of Act 1 and we got a whole lot more coming after this so get ready for maybe 2026??? Some rumors said that it is planned for that year since Studio Bind has picked up a project in between now and then. Loved the reaction and see you guys in the future :)

FatCat

here's what mind boggling for me with these whole hating on cheating/harem thing in anime. normally if its harem or if its something to do about cheating people let it go cause we focused more on the story. now the boggling part is we watch anime where people kills, steals, glorify demons and a whole lot of more mortal sin. but when one popular anime does take cheating seriously, we're so fast on hating and abandoning a great show. the difference about mushko tensei and other anime is that mushko is aware. like realistically if you get teleported to a new world you just dont carry on with your day like its nothing? you do tend to think about your past life and compare it with your current one. the things that hurt you, traumatized, gives your nightmare, and makes you cry. i go hard defending mushko tensei because it is a great show and yes this part of the story might not be the strongest part but further a long the lines we will be able to see clearly what direction the author wants to go, whats the purpose of rudy having 3 wives. it aint the best plot, but it creates controversy, controversy leads to curiousity, curiosity leads to views. people tuning in to the next chapter and the next one and the next one. unlike a certain anime that creates a whole season of anime and just do meetings 90% of the time.

FatCat

also we all that he was burnt by charmander first, played with pikachu, married bulbasaur and dabbled with squirtle. so we shouldnt really be mad if charmander gets back and tries to fry him all the way right?

Mr. Glasses

I was going based off other shows. What show featuring a harem has ever had the plot benefit from it? Aside from pandering to teenage fantasies.

Caius

now we just wait for the hopefully inevitable Eris OVA and the peak that will be season 3. For the roxy stuff a lot was skimmed over in the anime, I really would recommend eventually reading the Light Novels. But I think one of the main reasons Sylphie was so willing to accept polygamy is she spent a lot of time with Paul Zenith and Lilia and saw at least all the good sides of their relationship. Thats without even looking at the absolute scum of the earth the Ashuran nobility she experienced in her time with Ariel in the Royal Palace. But outside of that its ok just have to see if the author can convince you with his writing going forward.

Mr. Glasses

Comparing this man having multiple wives to catching Pokémon is wild. XD

Mr. Glasses

Bro no one said it was a trope specific to isekai. Quit twisting words.

Mr. Glasses

Literally google it and you'll see damn near 40 anime featuring harem endings. It's an anime trope that's been around forever.

Luffy_77

Yeah I felt a lot of their dynamic on the LN was just completely removed on the anime

D'Angelo Alvarado

You don't have to do a reaction to it but if you guys get a chance you should watch aninews YouTube videos about the cut content from this season. Saying there's alot cut is an understatement. There's alot more context for everything that sempt weird through this season. I also think they were trying to rush through this arc since volume 14 and 15 are the next novels being covered in the anime and those are some of the best volumes in the whole series imo, it's where everything really starts kicking off

Denickart

Roshi literally said "the isekai harem trope" at 1:14 and I did Google it which is how I know it rarely happens. There were maybe 10 animated examples of the trope that weren't hentai and none of which were isekai in which they actually went through with it.

ogking31

because one 100 girlfriends is actually a gag show. There's difference between the two, when u realize that Rudy bringing Roxy to his wife who is pregnant and actually telling her that he likes Roxy is not the same thing

ogking31

slowly building up to a weak writing doesn't make it a good writing at all...

ogking31

it's the weakest part of the story in MT... the build up and then how it got to the execution of it is a terrible pacing

Devin B

But if Sylphie is ok with it then why push against it. Yes it's messed up how Rudy went about it but if it worked out in the end then I don't see a problem with it. The only reason I brought up 100 girlfriends is because Rentaro would just bring a new girl to his current girls and catch them off guard with the new addition but they accept it because they know his character, just like how Sylphie knows Rudy.

Devin B

He didn't have enough badges when he got burnt by Charmander so I doubt he has to worry about that problem now

NECOdes

Lol, If you watched some more isekai harems like me, you'd see how bad they are, lack actual development for characters and their reasoning for making it harem is just whatever. Mushoku Tensei is where the “trope” you mentioned was originated from, but still is way more fleshed out and makes sense comparing to your average isekai harem.

e10

Yeah they really didn’t show it at all but it was just as bad or worse than when Eris left him. He wouldn’t leave the room, talk to anyone, or eat for over a week. I’m not excusing him cheating but Roxy saved him like Sylphie did, which is why he fell for her too.

Wrëck

Yes, eris did leave rudy and yes it did fuck him up but yall forgetting her reasoning for leaving was positive in her eyes she didn't leave to be malicious it was to grow strong so that if they got together she would be able to protect him. She acknowledges her love for him at the end of S2 so that whole reunion is gonna be all on Rudy frl and his willingness to forgive her.

Mr. Glasses

You're saying it doesn't count as a trope because it's in hentai isekai. I don't even know where to begin with the flaws in your logic.

Oliverson

Roshi blasting Rudy but cheering for rentaro (100 girlfriends) is crazy

Myst

Nope nope nope, my guy was devastated and depressed for 2-3 years because she didn't clear the whole misunderstanding to him, her fault. All that could've been resolved if they just had a casual convo before she left but nah, fuck him and leave.

Myst

Well mostly those are just comedy with no sequel, mostly mc is a wimp but somehow gets all the women cuz he eats to get stronger or some shit, this one has been in writing since 2012 with deep asf plot

Wrëck

That’s what I’m saying though she gonna be completely oblivious when that reunion happens and it’ll be up to Rudy to a. Bring that up and address what she put him through and b. Forgive her for it

Wrëck

I was thinking the same shit lol

Denickart

Learn to read. Who said anything about "hentai isekai"?

Taiwo Aileru

Bro Subaru got way more flack for rejecting Rem and the Harem imao

Mr. Glasses

You alluded to the fact that it's a trope featured mostly in hentai. Or you're just gonna pretend you didn't see those google results? Either way. The fact it's primarily in hentai should tell you something.

Denickart

The fact that harem endings are a trope mostly featured in hentai only tells me that it's a trope mostly featured in hentai. My question was specifically regarding the trope in isekai. Anything beyond that is irrelevant.

Mr. Glasses

I just realized. If you're just gonna pick and choose words that are convenient for you and your argument, without care to the overall point trying to be made, then you are not worth talking to. Have a good day, sir.

Pan Cakes

HOLY MOLYYY, THE PARAGRAPHS IN THE COMMENTS LMFAOOOOOOOOOOOO

y0ungship

He always liked her, he just never thought about marrying multiple women until he had the talk with elinalise

Denickart

I mean I guess that's one way of saying you don't have anything valuable to add to the conversation. Happy I helped you realize that.

Arturo

Yeah I also don't rock with the multiple wives but yall make it more bearable with your jokes 🤣 They should've named the baby Paula too!

Osborn Malakhov

They did skip a bunch of important details but it was not so badly done overall. Also, Roxy is actually the first woman he loved, if things played differently she would have been his first wife. Hopefully, they will adapt the explanation as to why things went the way they went as I got spoiled big time... They could have added an extra episode with the LN details but they didn't feel like it, that's why the resolve seems weak. Hopefully, they will adapt the anime to the end at least, it's such a good show.

Meeseherd

We are only expected to take one of them, seriously.

uneedrambo

different expectations lol

DocGreen

26 novels. It has spinoffs and a prequel which are all cannon so if they choose to adapt that. Than they have 40 plus novels to adapt

Joshua Burns

Yo imagine if Rudy’s kid was also a reincarnated person! Also I get Norn being upset but stop speaking up in my house so much that you don’t pay for

Ali Reza Jaffery

People question the harem here but are fine with Uzui Tengen having 3 wives?

Shaquille Hinds

I can understand why they're upset even though there were clues from beginning where the story was going. The way Rudeus' grief was portrayed after Paul's death was weak. It's very easy for viewers to say "control your emotions" given that portrayal. Also the anime did even a worse job of portraying Roxy's guilt and internal conflict/sacrifices. However, Rudeus doesn't go about picking strays, his connections have significant weight to them. I get many isekai's like to throw harem in there for fun but the concept of poly is that humans can form many deeper genuine connections regardless if it's romantic, sexual or platonic at the same time. Not saying you have to marry everyone you have a deep connection with but it is an option. Rudy's first love was Roxy, his second love was Sylphie and his third love was Eris. Also keep in mind that even though Rudeus looked up to Roxy in admiration, Sylphie and Eris also did the same to him, even though Rudeus' was more extreme. Like there are a lot of layers to the bonds the MC creates in this show but it will be difficult to fully understand and accept something that's so different to the social bias of monogamy. I think the series could've portrayed the development of the complexity of human bonding and emotions a bit better but the novel in my opinion did it beautifully. I like that Roshi does acknowledge the happiness of each individual though cause at the end of the day, no matter the type of relationship you're in, it has be worth it for you and that you are happy in it.

MethodTKT

idc idc I'm w Rudeus. LIVE HOW YOU WANT KING! man didnt get nun in his previous world and now he has the option of not 1 but TWO. Mannn we all could dream so big.

Andrewinplaid

We seen so many "harem" anime where shits done so bad its become lame & annoying, cliche.. But we should let this one slide & see it from a clean slate perspective since it is the first to do harem in an isekai-ish setting, arguably the first to popularized the trope(novel wise).

Krype

My boy literally couldn’t get it up cuz of her screw her 😭

Sting

yooo there might be something to that. Norn and Aisha both came into the world crying and Rudy and his kid didnt... that would be a crazy plot twist

THRAX117

it will make sense and come to light on why the harem makes sense for the plot season 3 Turning point 4 will make your jaw drop and make you realize OH now the harem makes sense

Lūthér Hölâyèãhmé

Sylphie is very empathetic and selfless. Very few people would allow their spouse to take another wife.

Mansa

I hate the harem trope in anime because there are never any consequences. If Sylphie left him because he cheated and wanted a second wife, or if she got a second husband to make him go through the same thing it could be an interesting plot point. But instead, it's always "I completely accept this absolute lack of discipline and loyalty because I'm a doormat love interest who only exists to worship you."

kuroihana

could always end up as an OVA

Smitty Werbenjägermanjensen

This is exactly how I feel about harem stuff. I feel like the anime cut out a decent amount of context since what Rudy did seemed random, but I still dont appreciate what he did. Sylphie already knew this was gonna happen, and she accepted it so im like whatever, but I never really enjoyed harem. Shows still a 10/10 though

Yellow_Flash

They dont care enough cos hes a side character i guess 🤷‍♂️ i dont get it though, let the man have his wives

Jeffison

i at first also didn't like it but after sitting on it i got over it. sylphie isn't just a doormat lol, she has MANY reasons on why she thinks it's fine: 1. the world itself doesn't really practice 2 people marriages, that's basically only a thing in 1 (or few) religions. 2. especially the greyrat's are known to have multiple wives and such 3. sylphie was appreciative of roxy for helping rudeus at a time where she wasn't able to because she wasn't there. the only thing speaking against it was rudeus' promise to only love roxy, which yes i do agree they should've focused more or atleast talk about soon, but again, rudeus was kinda in a vulnerable state, and after really appreciated roxy for helping him out of the depressive state.

Keynell Smith

I don’t get y yall feel so strange towards it yall got over it really quick when Paul did it. It’s the same exact situation this ain’t earth lise sat there and had sex even when she was with cliff. It’s obviously acceptable and not that big a deal there

CocainCowboy

The only religion in this world that is against polygamy is the Millis faith. That’s why the only person that was mad was Norn, she’s the only ‘believer’, oh & zenith that’s why she was so upset at Paul when she found out he got Lilia was pregnant. It is kinda lame that they’re going the harem route, either way Eris is best girl he shoulda waited for her or looked for her.

Yaboiroshi

My dad got out of prison, had a wife and a girlfriend who knew about eachother. My mom was with multiple people at once. And I dated a girl who was dating me on the side. I was ok with it. I've met a decent amount of people who were ok with multiple partners

vavedev

Well the Harem route already existed way long ago, and was the cannon one. He had 3 wives and multiple children. The main story of this novel/series is about the children of Rudeus, Rudeus's story was just the start of the whole series.

Shawn Oxley

I really hate anime especially isekai always going down the harem route but for once I'll admit its tough because they built up multiple good partners for him he could've ended up with any of them the only issue was timing

DocGreen

Mushoku Tensei is clearly different from those other shows

Mr. Glasses

Yeah. Don't get me wrong. I love the show. Just not a fan of the whole harem thing. To each their own, I guess.

Tay

I get why people may hate the harem part but its not bad in mushoku tense tbh

I don't really want to blame her, but Elainalise really is half responsible for Paul's death. It was her job to shield him during the boss battle, but because of the wild actions that the hydra started taking, literally everyone except Paul was too caught up in the action to get to Rudy in time.

thatNEET_

I'm less surprised that it showed a clip of Eris at the end and more surprised that it showed a clip of Badigadi and Ruijerd walking together. It's been a while since I watched this season, and I totally thought that Badigadi ghosted Rudy because of some grudge he had against Ruijerd, but apparently he just decided to let go of that grudge and join him on his travels.

Polygamy for the Win

Narluga

i really hate that they changed the sequence of events. it left everything confusing and less impactful. im glad i read the manga

Conk

The cuck gene runs in the family

Krype

cute pfp

Daniel Borrego

to be fair, they were fighting a mythical creature that hasnt been seen in 1000's of years and they kinda just winged it. had they sent for ghilaine at least and waited a few more months they more than likely could have beat it without losing anyone.

ZOOM

the manga is ass too. light novel the only correct one

esxiil

I just wanted to say that the anime directors decided to only show Rudy's point of view this season, which is why Eris basically doesn't appear. In the manga, she appears occasionally training. Honestly, I didn't like the way they did it because it distanced us from the character.

ERRORCODE616

Rewatched in preparation for S3. Definitely agree with y'all's criticism of the harem trope, even if polygamy is a common thing in medieval-set stories. I just hope it doesn't affect my liking of each of the characters individually going into next season, or the quality of the writing for the overarching story. As long as that stays consistent, I'll deal with the harem shit, and clown it right along with you.

ShaquanVirse

The reason the anime version is hated is because they cut so much context out

ShaquanVirse

Okay here's the thing!! Harem & what is happening in the show are two different things. Also the series cut a significant part of the story which adds context for Roshi. The series supports Poly relationships which is entirely different from the Harem trope

Kermit

This is the only reasonable take. Grown adults getting seriously heated over anime plot about a guy with a literal RGB panty shrine need to take too steps back, look in the mirror and figure out where they went wrong in their lives.

Senjioh

Zenith is clapped but not in the normal sense, being trapped in the crystal gave Zenith the ability to read the minds of anyone or anything around her her Son, Daughters, Grandkids and animals for example but she cannot talk anymore as a result but she is still very much aware of everything happening in the area around her, she still has all her memories as well but again just cant speak anymore

General Grevious

I held off watching the last episode until the next season released because of this last episode😭

Hate Rudy, Hate Roxy, and Sylphiette's a Bird ! TEAM NORN FOR SPEAKING TRUTH

Krohv

He needs to grow a fucking pair and accept the world he fucking chose to live in. Stop defending his fucking weakness

Krohv

It's not the same fucking thing you retard that's like saying porn is real because people have sex. All you fucking fetish dispshits need to keep it to yourself

Krohv

"Well get used to it" Okay bitch how about I make you eat a shit sandwich every week and see how you like it.

Krohv

Someone as weak as he is should off themselves

Krohv

Their relationship is entirely inappropriate and this is why anime fans have such a shit reputation.

Krohv

All of you fucking retards who support the Roxy shit are pro grooming. She not only knew him as a literal child but she was his teacher which means a relationship is out of the question. But of course you anime dipshits like that shit so no surprise that you are defending it.

Krohv

No it is mostly trash written by a Dumbfuck who can't keep his fetishes to himself

Six Paths

It's not defending it, it's explaining it. He obviously SHOULD have moved on without needing Roxy to do that, but "Grow a pair" in response to someone being depressed and traumatized over losing their father and mom being a vegetable is an insane thing to say and bottom of the barrel surface level thinking. He also didn't choose to live in that world at all. Not everyone is as good as dealing with trauma, that's just an unfortunate reality.

Caleb Surratt

Good thing you can just not watch lol
