I read like 10 chapters of this manga a couple of years ago but I didn't think it would get this big and get an adaptation by the Oshi no Ko studio damn! Nice anime so far though. Kuze is a chad romcom MC which is pretty refreshing

And yeah, Russians usually have diminutives of their formal names (“Alya” for Alisa, “Dimka” for Dimitri, “Misha” for Mikhail, “Sonya” is sometimes short for Sofiya, etc. — this isn’t strict, two people with the same name could go by different diminutives). As a native speaker, the pronunciation and some translation is very off, but it's not that big of a deal.

You never gonna beat native language and translation errors are not necessary on the VA part. No matter what you do, unless you take a native Russian that learn japanese, it's gonna sound off. But then doing that the japanese gonna sound wrong too. I definitely cringe every time I hear the russian but in my opinion it's to be expected and people are overreacting

I can see the argument but I'd just rather they start making college animes then, I'm sorry but it's just weird to sexualize underage characters even if it's fiction because actual kids and teens might see it and be influenced, it's just a maybe even unlikely but still possible, it makes more sense to me to just do college year animes

High school kids are probably their main target demographic and most Japanese people can relate to high school experiences but not always college ones. It just becomes weird when you're like 30 watching anime and seeing 15 year olds get sexualized, but a 15 year old watching a 15 year old be sexualized is natural teenager stuff. And I never really see stuff like 30 year olds dating 15 year olds and leering at them in anime, it's hormonal teenagers ogling one another. But yeah, it's weird when you're an adult, and the thought of grown people drawing/animating sexualized teenagers is offputting. Also, I find it strange to concerned that teens might be influenced into being sexual by watching anime. As if teenagers (at the very least most guys) aren't just inherently sexual in puberty, but they see flesh-colored spheres bouncing in an anime and suddenly they're complete degenerates.

To piggyback off of this. There’s no reason you can’t look passed the sexualization because it’s not there for you as an older adult. I barely notice because it doesn’t appeal to me, but that doesn’t mean I think it shouldn’t be there just because it doesn’t appeal to 32yr old me. It appeals to Japanese teenagers. The story is great and any ecchi that’s involving these teenagers goes completely over my head and if it’s too much for me I skip forward. No reason that people get so outwardly butthurt about stupid stuff as that.

That scene was at sunset. Look at the clouds they are golden as well. If that was Alya, her silver hair would also be reflecting the golden light. The animation even highlights the reflective quality of her hair. Notice the faint band of tint in her hair around her ribbon. Of course her identity won't be revealed till near the end. we're meant to have fun guessing.
