Don’t get me wrong, this show is real fun and enjoyable but goddamn, the writing is like a book of cliches. I get that it’s not that deep and they’re cliche for a reason but is all you do as a story is what everyone else is doing then it feels very unoriginal.

like sheera said it would be too much to introduce a whole language system a whole new magic system. imagine to fully explain that they would need a whole season to explain shit and people would be "WHAT IS WITH ALL THIS INFO DUMP" we want action. by using cliches they save time for the animation, and they assume the people watching it have some understanding they know about anime words. we are following will's path to the top so we dont need to know about the magic system. also the magic tools we would also need 1 or two eps for those and if they just said how it works vaguely, people would hsaming it for being lazy and what not. by using cliches we have seen in other media we know what are magic tools and as basic info need for them to work. not need to stop half way the ep to do flashbacks and info dump for the audience on what are magic tools, no need to waste money on things like that

To be fair, you don't need a whole new language system or magic system to make the anime less generic. You can use a magic system that's easy to understand and have a unique story. These two things are not mutually exclusive. And personally, I love shows that are simply fun action. But if that's the goal, why not double down on the action instead of using screen time to feed us a story of forgettable clichés.

Sion is literally just there for points, they don't care about him and IF Will solo'd the entire tournament, none of the scouts would look Sions way and he would be even more ignored. Fighting Will is the only way to both show off that he has actually accomplished something AND to prove to Will that he would be a respectable Rival (hence why he constantly push Will into hating him, to make him fight back because he hates to see how sorry he is) Yeah I like Sion now he's aight

In Sion's defense, he was never actually a villain. He always wanted to be cool with Will. He's just a noble and Will is some dude. His societal standing wouldn't allow him to befriend someone of a lower social status. Literally, the best Sion could do was offer Will to be his gofer. I like the show so far, but man the "person that can't do what everyone else can do" trope is getting old and repetitive lol. I've guessed everything that's happened so far but they do it in an entertaining way so I enjoy it but no one is putting a spin on things

Maybe being 'called out' has a negative connotation to it, but being called out just means being mentioned for your words or actions, en masse or singularly. I'm gradually transitioning to leaving behind positive comments and not saying negative things without positive things sprinkled within. Because being purely negative is just stressful for yourself and other people, and after learning that I decided I don't want to stress other people out.
