The TV announcement at the beginning is about a real life case that happened in 2014 timeline in which the drama is set. It was about the death of Private Kim who was beaten to death by his seniors in the military. That’s the real footage that we see btw of the reconstitution.

so not that long ago korean military service was two years its now one and something months and severe bullying and assult was and probably still is a problem in the military. Idk how it is in the US but bullying is so bad that they had to have D.P soliders to bring back victims or people who just escape. It is very common for soliders to ecape so that they can commit self death .

saw you guys say you liked physical 100 a while ago. theres a new show thats popping off in korea atm. i mean literally everyone is talking about it, making parodies, memes etc. its called culinary class wars on netflix they just finished releasing all episodes. its like physical 100 but with professional chefs. you might like it.

Not anymore. if you try to bully in the military someone you will get in trouble. things have changed a lot. it's much better now once soldiers were able to use cell phones. They've developed a very solid NCO corps and their officers have gotten quite good, too.

Most things in the show are very dramatized (because of course it is, it's a drama). And It's not just Korea. The military is an absolutely terrible place to end up in. In every country. It's built around hierarchy and violence. I've heard some truly horrifying stories from them. Bullying, harassment and suicide attempts are frighteningly common in the military. The Korean military has absolutely changed for the better in a big way. Abuse, harassment, and outright beatings - especially of conscripts - were very common. Not as much anymore.

So I want to just let anyone who comes across this know, the things that happen in this show actually happened in the Korean military up until 2014 (the year this story takes place in) and things only got better because a soldier was beat to death by his higher ups.
