2026-10-17 05:00 If you guys are wondering, Subaru was not suppose to say "waifu". He was suppose to say 'bride' but for whatever reason, they changed it. Just thought I'd type this out, since this makes him look like his old arrogant self back in season 1. Edit: I understand that this makes him look arrogant still, even if he meant bride, even though they aren't around that level yet. That's my bad, and I guess my point was that it looks like hes treating her like if she were a anime character, and not a real person (I know, she is an anime character, but you know what i mean lol)

Wild

Yeah classic ol translators being dumb

Imari

This is already one of my favorite seasons out of the three the story telling seems to have cranked up

King of New York

Someone's probably already mentioned it before but apparently, they cut scenes from Season 1 where Al (The knight guy who is the knight of Priscilla, the red-dress girl who is one of the other royal candidates) told Subaru he also got isekaied from Japan.

Cheesecake

"ma'am this is walgreens" - roshi 2024

Gregery stunt double

why are they hiding it? it seems like too important of a detail to just omit

Zeklo

The anime is bound to bring it up when the time is right.

King of New York

I got no clue bro I'm not a novel reader but I heard it before so I thought I'd share in case that plot point happens to go somewhere. It may also add context if they interact this season.

BZD

And Subaru shows that if he hadn’t fucked up his gate he would have been OP with magic. It took him a year, working with Beako to make a magic that lets him just walk through things.

Kingmakaii

Man get me out this fucking city bro it’s like 5 arch bishops here at the exact same time 😭

Mollywopper

"nah, kill me" would definitely be how I deal with any minor inconvenience if I were subaru. "Yo I forgot to put on deodorant this morning shoot me in the head real quick" type beat.

13

Garfiel and Frederica. Fred and Rafiel

Cameron Robinson

The Garfield stuff always make me tear up man

Cancel

The glow stones on the towers are how they tell time in the ReZero world. I don't remember the specifics, but days are divided into four time periods, each represented by a different colour. So the stones turning red signified that it was a certain time of day, presumably the time when the Gospels had directed the archbishops to start their attack on the city, hence why they both started to leave at that time. Everything up until now, funnily (and horrifyingly) enough, was just them doing shit in their free time before they had to start whatever the Gospels told them to do.

Cameron Robinson

Frederica and Garfield have the same Dad not mom, right? And Regulus was seen in Emilia’s flashback?

TChang23

I love this show

BZD

Just to clear something up. Garf got closure about his mom last season he originally thought that she abandoned him. But then through the trials he saw that she was actually planning on finding his father. But then he found out she got caught in a landslide. But he thought she died. So really, this just ruined Garf’s closure. Now that trauma is back open.

Merfhew

I learned that the other day on another reaction channel, and as an anime-only fan, I wish I hadn't. Not everything from the light novels will be adapted, but I feel like certain information that was skipped could be brought up later. It's not unheard of for anime adaptations to rearrange things due to time constraints. Maybe the director thought that wasn't relevant enough to the immediate story, so if something had to be cut, they might as well cut a plot point that can be added to the anime later. As much as I want to join the comments section to discuss the show I love with other people who love it, every channel that watches Re:Zero has comments sharing information from the light novels that I'm trying to avoid. Nobody has bad intentions when they share their fun facts, so it's not like I have the right to criticize people, but it certainly makes things difficult when you're trying to stay "spoiler" free. I'm using quotes because whether or not it's a spoiler is subjective and kinda depends on future episodes. If the anime mentions this later, I think it was a spoiler. If the anime doesn't mention this later, then it WASN'T a spoiler. Kind of a weird situation.

Taiwo Aileru

S1 of the show ended with "that's all the story wrote" because it was only intended a singular season to promote the LN as the author wasn't sure if it would be popular, so multiple details for later seasons were cut.

Modiveram

Frederica and Garfield have different dad's. Both had beastman dna. Garfield his dad had way more though. That is why Frederica can only grow claws, fangs and a tail. While Garf transforms his whole body.

Andrew Fimbres

No they got different dads same mom, and yes regulus was in emilia's flashback

Cameron Robinson

OK, thank you because I knew their beast forms were different because they had different dads but the chances of their mom having two kids from different relationships and both of them being beast men seemed unlikely but I guess in sanctuary it makes more sense

Mollywopper

I kinda like the decision. I don't think that detail is important now but it'll probably be important in a later arc. And waiting to bring it up could recontextualize some of their interactions from earlier seasons, which would make for an interesting rewatch. Gives you that "aha, I knew Al felt different" type of moment. Thats why i've never been a fan of telling anime watchers about details from the LN if they're not integral, even if they should have already been revealed. I prefer to just let the show cook, and if there's a detail left out that would cause confusion, then clarify.

Franklin Saint

Regulus corneas is my goat and my favorite villain in rezero series I always loved when he talks about someone violating his rights 💀😭

Sean Don

That's wild it wasn't mentioned. Thanks for the info and non-spoiler since it should of been added. Though the Japanese building and food was kind of a give away that Subaru wasn't the only one reincarnated or teleported to the world. Whatever that culture is called in his new world.

Jazko Exclusive

watch a recap on Season 2 and come back to this show lmaoo yall completely forgot most of the season edit: Rewatch that recap before yall get clapped in the comments 💀

Joni

I mean, wouldn't calling her bride still make him arrogant? lol they ain't married

Jazko Exclusive

how they forget who some characters were off rip😭

Isaac

Bride and Waifu is the same damn thing. They put Waifu there to make it more cringe to the English audience because he's still the NEET loser we knew him as. He's grown but he's still cringe. That's the point for us. Still saying bride makes him cringe but that's for the JP audience.

Mad4Life

I swear anytime we in some deep shit this nigga Reinhard out buying groceries or something.

Andrew.50c

Yeah but waifu is cringe lol

jacob foti

your right but they make a joke about it in season 2 where garf says his mom had a type (or poor taste in men something along those lines)

Orendi

Regulus was in emilia's flashback, but the reason she doesnt recognize him is kinda a spoiler that likely won't be mentioned in the anime, as it requires a "narrator" lmao

Tre Staples

Must have been a shitty recap lol

Orendi

its cool how in this arc subaru doesn't see any minor inconvenience as a "ok I'll just die and reset" thing. he really did learn from the last arc.

Orendi

my theory is that Tappei (the author) is going to change how Al is introduced in the story. in the light novel, subaru knowing Al comes from japan never really matters in the middle arcs. not to mention his introduction was kinda out of nowhere and had nothing to do with the arc at the time. considering how important to the story Al becomes, chances are the author is using the likely (at the time) rash decision to leave out Al's introduction as a way of making his character more engaging and memorable later on.

Ambridge

They prob watched a bad recap, I've seen some and they completely skipped like actually important moments

Ambridge

Why are you fucking spoiling jesus fucking christ, Im actually getting annoyed at fellow novel readers allowing the author who heavily involved in the production to actually put it in when it needs to be

Cameron Robinson

I’m pretty sure she did a full beast transformation in the anime at least it’s just that hers looked way more lioness like while Gar’s is more tiger

King of New York

I'm not a novel reader...I literally said that. It was cut content that was supposed to be in S1 which came out 8 years ago so yeah I've heard of it. You gotta relax you rage in the comments on every Rezero reaction.

Ambridge

@Taiwo ("""S1 of the show ended with "that's all the story wrote" because it was only intended a singular season to promote the LN as the author wasn't sure if it would be popular, so multiple details for later seasons were cut.""") Absolutely completely and utterly false. Tappei did not have the title "thats all the story wrote" It says "thats all this story is about" and it has absolutely NOTHING to do with the anime. This is what "thats all this story is about" is mentioning at the end of arc 3 (season 1) When Subaru and Emilia reunited and he says he loved her. It's about what the story is really ABOUT and most likely how it will end. Under the sky of the approaching dusk, a boy from another world and a silver-haired half-demon drew close to one another, sharing their mutual feelings. There had been repeated tribulation and despair continuing for a very long time. Having overcome these, they had finally earned a quiet, tranquil time for them alone. This was a tale about earning that time, and nothing more. This was a tale about missed opportunities, continuing along different paths, remaining lost, and nothing more. Everything had happened so that a single insecure boy could share his feelings with a single insecure girl. This was a tale of striving to do exactly that one thing— —and nothing more.

Ambridge

Subaru saying "thats my bride" is still arrogant and cringe just as much. Emilia is NOT his girlfriend Emilia is NOT his bride Emilia is NOT his wife Emilia is NOT his fiancé There not in a relationship right now because Emilia has to figure out her feelings (hence why she never said in s2 she loves him), so him saying that is just as cringy and arrogant because WAIFU is still the samething as "wife" or "bride" just a cringe slang term westernized. But I agree, Waifu is by far the worse of the 3 and it just makes it worse and Crunchyroll should be ashamed of even using that and then promoting Subaru using that on their own youtube video.

Cory

@Wallet I might be misremembering, but didn't she say something about the man she loved in regards to Subaru last episode?

Huemon_Nottabear

My brain trembles. What if Garfs mom remembered that she had a son and daughter, saw 2 cat people, then turns up later to save them.

soul keeper

If I was in this universe I’m crying for rienheart like Superman the second I hear witch

Ambridge

I dont care, im tired of people trying to spoil that hasn't been revealed yet, AL being from our world is a spoil for anime only. Stop it. Author is aware it's cut content and clear reason why he hasn't had it added it in yet.

Huemon_Nottabear

sloth is dead, lust in center. Wrath, Greed, Gluttony in towers. So if Jealousy is a replacement for Envy, Does that mean the organ eating lady is Pride?

Huemon_Nottabear

Just looked up literary history of sin. Pride is the strongest, (also most associated with the devil), so that's Emilia's husband, and organ lady was Greed. Also there's an 8th sin that has a bunch of different names, but it's basically "Smart Coward". It's the sin of doing dumb things for the wrong reason. Which kinda describes early season Subaru, just doing dumb shit because, "I love Emilia"

Merfhew

@Wallet - Um, wow. As someone who really tries to avoid learning about cut content and spoilers, I understand your frustration, but that's no excuse to be so nasty to others.

jimbo

To be honest, Al's isekai origins doesn't have significant plot relevance and they probably want to scrounge up any spare seconds they can to cram the important story stuff into the anime. It's never some kind of grand reveal. Plot-wise you haven't been spoiled on much if that's any relief to you.

Ambridge

Sorry to tell you but no. That was an actual mistranslation. She said the "people I love" hence Subaru, Fortuna, Petelgeuse, Puck, Archie etc etc.

Mustardy Boi

Some random person will breath in his direction and he'll recite a 9 page dissertation on why their stank-ass breath is a violation of his rights before violently murdering them

Ambridge

@merfhew The reason Im being nasty in this particular case is because i have been seeing alot of fellow novel readers running around like chickens cut off throwing that out there so everyone knows because they butchered al character sooo bad to them. Despite the fact AL being from our world hasn't had any direct impact nor any relevance in the story so far and only reason they cut that out in Season 1 is because in 2016, Season 1 was meant to be the only Season! So it's not needed and people who just trying to go around all anime only's and comment sections on Patreon and twitter and youtube comments without giving like actually cut content type of spoilers before reading it are just as obnoxious in my eyes.

Skebaba

You're wrong smoothbrain. Regulus is Greed, just as his intro says, Capella is Lust just as her intro says, Lye is Gluttony as his intro says. Also no such thing as "smart coward" Sin WTF is bro yapping about? What fucking bullshit list did you just read???

Skebaba

Correct. IDK what the smoothbrain above is lying about, we've already seen her full transformation since S2

Wild

What sort of fan fiction did u just wrote, are you talking about the guy that stole Emilia? That’s greed, organ lady? You mean Elsa the bowel hunter? She was just a nobody, a assassin for hire not a archbishop, pride has been lost, the seat for pride has been vacant as it’s been mentioned, although many people speculate that he just doesn’t care about the archbishop stuff and has been hiding away, many people speculated that Subaru was pride because of how much pride is mentioned around him

Wild

He’s probably in town but protecting his girl, remember last time Subaru called for him he got there immediately

Brody
>>152544508

Meanwhile regulus is insulted that your stepped on his rights as a human being of being the sin archbishop of greed and you no your not

Daniel

Capela lagunica, sin arch bishop of lust. Lagunica… lagunica…. Why does that sound familiar Idk, random thought, what if gluttony ate Garfield’s mom’s memory’s????

Milkman

@Wallet Jesus nigga you're so whiny. He obviously didn't "spoil" it on purpose. Half the recap videos include that shit as cut content anyways. Every time I try to enjoy anything to do with this show, the incel fanbase shows up and ruins it. Gotta be the worst community in anime. It's literally a cartoon. Grow up and stop insulting real people over drawings of things that don't exist.

Goomba
>>152536507

Honestly, looking back at it, it is still arrogant of Subaru to say that. But I do think Waifu is still worse imo, since that would basically be treating her like if she were an anime character. (Which, funny, because she is, but you get my point) But yeah, I agree, calling her his bride was still arrogant lol (Oh shit, I completely forgot that they haven't officially started dating yet. Thats also my bad for assuming ough)

NecDW4

If they do it well, this season is going to be so fuckin peak... and next season will go just as hard if they do it.

Unknown

For just the archbishops to be this strong, does that make the witches monsters lmao

Isaac

Ya know ... thank God Subaru doesn't have e the mindset of "oh no Emillia-tan got kidnapped. Lemme just die and make it so that doesn't happen." That would be the Greed way of using his powers that Echidna was real close to making Subaru be in that mindset of before proposing her contract to him. He's gonna try and do it without dying, letting the reset death only be a convenient last resort if shit just happens to result in his death. Proud of him. Plus if he did do that ... it'd get rid of what's going on with Garfiel kinda? Like we just went on an emotional journey with our boy so let's not get rid of that by Subaru selfishly killing himself and possibly altering that because that happened once with Rem in season 1 I think ( this did happen right? I need to refresh myself lol ) where he made big progress with her only for him to suddenly die out of nowhere and negate that whole thing with her.

Unknown

I sense these opponents, specially the first two archbishops to be EXTREMELY dangerous in Subaru’s case. Only because they both don’t resort to murder when it comes to Subaru. And if the crazy chick captures him it’s game over. No death resets….

Isaac

I mean Gluttony ( Daphne ) made those rabbits so and can make you eat your own hand by just looking at her eyes ... yes yes they are monsters.

Isaac

I also remember Lust ( Carmilla ) can cause you to stop breathing because you become so down bad for her that you forget to breathe.

Ambridge

That is a spoiler, It's just people trying so hard to spoil something because they didnt like it hasn't been mentioned yet. What you think Al being from another world isn't gonna be brought up sometime in the anime version? Also those "recaps" dont spoil cut content so I dont know what the actual fuck you are on about. There is "cut content" videos and recaps and I know for a fact the recap videos do not include cut content. Al being from our world is not cut content, that became now a spoiler for the anime. Cut content is when a scene isn't brought up again, Al being from our world is clearly something that will be brought up so it is a spoiler. Go fuck yourself thinking im some incel fanbase. Calling people incels you people are actually the one who need to take a step outside calling people fucking incels.

Ambridge

It is worse, I'm not going to disagree on it, I think waifu term is just cringe slang term. But for people to say it's a literal mistranslation and trying so hard to defend Subaru saying well "achtually he said shes my bride" even though really means the samething in the end and acting like that isn't any less arrogant for that matter considering their situation in the relationship. Subaru in that scene is being Regulus. He getting mad over someone else saying the same shit he say's despite both their situations are really the samething. There not in any relationship with her at all lol

Isaac

Props to Garfiel's voice actor, forgot his name but he does Bakugo ( mha) and Nishinoya ( haikyuu ). The crying part sounded so real with how his voice got all ugly. Choked me up.

Deshawn Smith

Garf is goin through it. People need to remember, dude is only 14. Elsa was his first kill and he clearly has trauma from that experience. Everyone should know his personality by now but, he's a softy. All of the times he's killed people in subaru's failed timelines, Garf has always gone in his beast form and let it take control over him because he couldnt do it otherwise. So him killing elsa repeatedly was alot for him. That's why he's having all those hallucinations. On top of all that, he's finally out in the world free from the sanctuary where he's always been considered the strongest so the reinhard encounter had him feeling some type of way. Finally, finding his mother alive and learning of her memory loss. Garf is one of my fav characters tbh. cant wait for the rest of the season

ERRORCODE616

There's a Greed "What If" short story in the light novel about a version of Subaru who does this and ends up dying over 100 million times, sometimes for basic shit like just being able to tell Petra the day's weather.

ERRORCODE616

As someone who just started reading the novel after this season premiered, Subaru does a lot of internal monologuing in the novel. And pretty much none of that seems to be making it into the show. Every time he loops, he starts thinking about how to approach each problem that's come up in previous loops, and who to connect with that might help. So he's got plans, he's just out of his depth fighting against four whole ass Archbishops this arc. Shit's wild. It's the most hopeless it's felt thus far. Also random thing they don't show for some reason, the little brother is calling Garf Gorgeous Tiger because that's how he introduced himself to them so as not to give himself away to his mom.

ERRORCODE616

I have such a soft spot for when tough guy characters show raw emotions like that.

ERRORCODE616

And Typhon, the Witch of Pride, broke Subaru apart just by touching him because he felt guilty, and would've inflicted extreme pain if she had judged him.

Krype

I wonder why the Archbishops seem so evil, while the witches appeared neutral at the tea party. Not all of them ofc, but it makes me wonder how they became that way.

Mustardy Boi

I'm pretty sure he called himself Gorgeous Tiger in Episode 1

ERRORCODE616

Ah, if he did I totally missed that. Probably got lost in the madness of everyone’s heads exploding at the end there.

Mustardy Boi

Daphne created all the Mabeasts, and her most infamous beasts were the White Whale, Great Rabbit, and Black Serpent

ERRORCODE616

Makes sense, people who idolize others (gods, celebrities, politicians, etc.) can be pretty insane sometimes. Whereas the objects of their idolization can be blissfully unaware.

Papi Martini 🍸

Lusts last name is Lugunica? I have no clue what that means but I feel like it means something

King of New York

Yeah, this was a great episode. I swear Gluttony and Subaru are in a contest of who can rock the worst drip.

Milkman

Daughter name "Rafiel". :)

Isaac

Think of it like this. Beyonce is a Witch and the Beyhive are the Cultists. Beyonce didn't really make the cult herself but they formed on their own idolizing what she stands for. She's dead for over 400 years and her cult and their interpretation of what she stands for gets warped beyond recognition because humans do that human thing where they weaponize their beliefs to justify doing really fucked up things. It's kinda like that.

Dune

Well the name of the kingdom is lugunica so I was assuming she could be related to the royal family possibly.

rakka

Mimi was such a real one...

Arima kana

Want to pick up mimi and use her like a sex toy😞

Sonny

I think Sheera was right in a way, I think Sirius could be of the elf or witch race like Emilia and I think she covers herself up in bandages bc she is reminded of the Evil Witch Satella.

Keondodge

That's a really solid summary and analysis of his story so far at least the relevrelevant bits.

King of New York
>>152558742

I was literally thinking "Damn that guy hasn't been spastic about Rezero at all." Jinxed that shit into existence 😭

NovaVortex

🔥 episode, nuff said.

E

Go ahead and keep that in mind

JotaroDrake

17:08 nigga living there hearing some kid screaming and having a breakdown on his roof confused as shit

E

51:49 of your first reaction for s3 they say the sisters name is Rafiel

Ambridge

Ya, Garfiel in episode 1 said "im gorgeous tiger!" (while doing the Subaru/Emilia pose)

WillGlacier

I was gonna say how the fuck did that guard mistake gluttony for a kid considering bro is built like a short Olympic swimmer, but then I remembered Garf is like 13 so I'm not even gonna question it anymore lmao Also god damn Garf is 13 years old and he has to deal with his mom basically forgetting he exists, that would suck for anyone but a 13 year old kid? Damn

AP STP

Hearing Garf cry got me tearing up man... The VA did an amazing job.

Malcolm Washingon

So did garf's mom run into gluttony or the whale, cuz that's typically how ppl memories be clapped

Clinton the Bingethinker

Is it at all possible that the bandaged wrath woman is a revived, corrupted Mother Fortuna? It’s a theory I had when I first watched this episode, solely because of her hair, eyes and ears, and her love for Petelgeuse

Daniel Borrego

i gotta give it to the re:zero guys this season , no opening, no closing. thats hardcore man. they are using every second up. great stuff.

Doughboy 1027

Once she called Subaru Betelgeuse, and how she calling him her love, I was like, "OH, Hold on I think I know who that is!", which would make sense because of the silver hair and why her eyes look so much like Emilia's.

baja

and yet they decide to keep everybit of the annoying dialogue from characters that kepp repeating the same thing. weird producer

Champion Bescos

The VA behind Garf is the GOAT. Like, I know he killed it last season, and he’s iconic as Nishinoya from Haikyuu and especially deserves praise for his performance as Bakugo in MHA, but the one that really drives his skill home is how different he sounds as Himmel in Frieren. Like, genuinely has to be a different person entirely, yet it’s somehow not. Very talented VA and he handled a really emotional scene wonderfully. My homie Gorgeous Tiger is really going through it this season. Got PTSD, got his identity/pride out in check, and then all his past familial trauma ripped open after finding his amnesiac moms. 😔 Yeah, this season has been straight gas so far. Glad to be out of the confines of the sanctuary/mansion from last season, and the pacing is really bookin’ it, what with FOUR Archbishops showing up. That’s insane. Sloth was dangerous enough by himself, but with such a stacked group of allies nearby, I didn’t think there would be much tension this season. Boy, was I wrong. This shit looks awful for Subaru.

Ledish

Nobuhiko Okamoto... also Accelerator in Toaru, and Karma in AssClass. He does seem to enjoy playing crazy and violent guys. Then now and then you get something from him like Sengoku in Horimiya, Adachi in BokuYaba, etc.

Hey Hey Me

I still can't get over the fact that they have paper bags in this world. Crazy.

Diggs

I'm thinking she ran into Gluttony and while escaping a mudslide happened due to the weather which caused her to be trapped and for them to think that she died.

CentrisAce

IRL, they've been around since the 1800s. In Re:Zero, they have some level of industry, so I can see them making it.

Joshua Hoerner

Gsrf can't be 13. If his mom has been missing for 15 years. He's probably 15 or 16. But you're totally right.

WillGlacier

just checked, he is currently 14. Pretty sure he was 13 when they first met him in season 2 but since MONTHS have passed since then he probably had his birthday and is now 14

Krype

I understand that, but this is a bit too much. Not only are they extremely strong, but they are also insane.

JustThatOtherDude

daaaamn... I should get back to watchin ToAru again O.o

Hate

That dude against all of them, imagine him bodying them all at once, damm our hero is OP as fuck!

Hate

And that right there is why he is my fav!

derek

ong me too gang

Niuwah

I took a break because this show stresses me out, but came back to more stress 😩 I'm tired. I wouldn't know what I would've done in Garf's situation knowing my mother who I thought died when I was an infant, is actually alive with a whole husband and two kids she named after my sister and I. That's crazy. Would've been mad, sad, and throwing up. I'm really hoping he tells them though because they're still his family.

Daniel De Lira

bruh when finding out all archbishop one at a time is there Im like aww fucken no this is gonna be rough.

Lsg_Lani

The 4 sin archbishops are Gluttony, Lust,Wrath and Greed or is it someone else? I don’t remember if Regulus is considered an archbishop. Cuz it could be Subaru as the 4th 🤷🏽‍♂️

The archbishops and witches are the same thing just different names in different eras. Like I’m pretty sure Regulus is top 3 just behind Reinhard and Satella.
