Tatsuki Fujimoto the goat!

bleach

Amazing movie! I love how the animation style is just like Fujimoto's art

Chibi

Watched this in theaters. Whole room was sobbing by the end of it

Copycat

Don't look back in anger is the true title with the first and final words you add on to the title. And true lesson to learn

PJ Rivera

If the art style looks familiar its fujimoto the same guy who does chainsaw man. Fun fact for some reason anyone who works as his assistant is blessed with talent as the creators of SpyXFamily, Dandadan, Hells Paradise, and Centuria were all former assistants. This is also a tribute to the tragic kyoto animation massacre where some lunatic set fire to Kyoto animation studio 1 killing 36 and leaving 33 injured. Kyoto animations anime are Silent voice, Violet Evergarden, K-on, Clannad, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Love, Chunibyo & Other Delusions, Miss Kobayashi dragon maid. RIP to all those who lost their lives in this senseless tragedy

King of New York

ABSOLUTE CINEMA. This is definitely top 5 or top 3 anime of 2024 for me

KiriyamaRei

Honestly this is one of the greatest films i've ever seen in my life and as an artist, i can really connect with it. I'm so glad this film exists. I love creators, I love creating, and anyone who has made so much as a sandwich with their own hands will be moved. This is the type of art that will continue to impact people's lives far into the future. Glad you guys took the time to watch it. When i first read the oneshot back in 2021, i had to take a step back and just process the whole thing. More people need to tap in and i hope this films success sparks interest in a Goodbye Eri Film

Theo

Don’t look back in anger.

TheMilkMan

Fujino and Kyomoto represents the two halves of the author, Fujimoto, right handed Fujino draws characters and writes stories, left handed Kyomoto draws background art. I believe the art school massacre is based on a real event that happened a few years ago, it was an arson attack on Kyoto Animation where the suspect claimed they stole their art.

Prime

It was an arson attack at Kyoto Animation. This one shot was released on its anniversary.

KomodoughDragon

Look up the Kyoto Animation arson attack for more context. A man believed that someone at KyoAni had plagiarized his work and so he set fire to one of their buildings. The building had a single exit which was blocked by the fire and no sprinkler system, 36 were killed and 34 more injured. The perp was sentenced to death. Look Back was published two years later.

Fernando Perez

Didn’t know sadness was on the menu? Nah bro it’s Fujimoto. This man lives on torturing his readers lmfao

RF

Between this and Godzilla Minus One you guys should definitely watch "This Corner of the World"

TheMilkMan

"Is she dead?" "Yeah? This is not that kind of show" Roshi's famous last words

Red Death

Peak. Also Goodbye Eri and Chainsaw Man door references?

Fernando Perez

Real shit tho I can’t wait for the rest of CSM to get adapted cause I feel like anime onlies didn’t get the chance to see what Fujimoto is truly about with how short s1 was. I think Look Back really shows why people like his stuff so much.

Parampreet Singh

Damn movie got lupa silent in the later half 😭

Soso

one of the best fictional pieces I’ve seen. cinematography, animation, storytelling, emotion. Fujimoto cooked something crazy🔥

Chibi

I dont think the alternate timeline was real. It was just a way for Fujino to cope. But it's up for interpretation

Anon7524

Want to share this somewhere, and this is probably the perfect place since the first half of the movie is very in theme. I hope you **all** watch Bakuman at some point as it's a really chill and beautifully written story, made by the authors of death note. It has practically the same story/theme & motivations as the first half of this movie just with romance added🙏🙏🙏

Anon7524

I call them the Fujimoto class, and I hope we get to continue the succession with their assistants also being widely innovative and talented🙏. My sincerest sympathys to anyone affected by the Kyoto Animation Tragedy 😔

RBGTalk

not a lot of people mention is, but the OST in this is absolutely immaculate

Chibi

Just realized that if you combine Fujino and Kyomoto you get Fujimoto which is the name of the Chainsaw Man author

Jarek Mirowski

*Lupa, in tears* That was good. yeah mate, i cried like a river too.

Delgado

We need Terror In resonance, long overdue

HessianX

I was reading this manga when it first came out as a one shot in jump a year or so ago and I was in the hospital waiting room. I started balling my eyes out to the point I got multiple random people worried for me, asking if I was alright.

dani lizano

Lupa felt it, I'm with you man!

Metweet .c

You patrons who recommend these movies got me fucked up. I just came from Zzavids patreon watching the climax, which ruined my day, I come to this patreon not knowing what this movie was about thinking it'd be some laughs and now I'm sitting here crying. Damn it!

Haaa?

I love how Fujino continued to use "Kyo Fujino" as the author name even after she stopped working with Kyomoto. Fujimoto knows how to write immensely sad and compelling stories. "Look Back", "Goodbye Eri", CSM are all so so sad but beautiful.

MrOuijaII

I hope it gets animated as well, but highly recommend another of Fujimoto's one shots "Goodbye, Eri" If this was an ode to Manga and Mangakas Goodbye Eri handles the same with Movies and Film (which mean hopefully it should be an easy get for an aadaption)

Didier

It's *Bakuman, not Bakumon. Don't get sued by Nintendo, bro.

Liam Wave

Small fun fact, the composer for Look Back, Haruka Nakamura, was mentored by Nujabes!

speedy

this mf love these damn single doors, regardless animation was fuckin top tier

sim

I thought it was the missing strip from the window that fell from the wind

Bria A.

Fujimoto, when I catch you… 😭😭😭

gr2ves

Didn’t know a compilation of someone learning how to draw could make me cry, the music is unreal in this movie

Username TakenB

This was a rough one. Lupa's reaction especially got to me. I love when you guys watch something and it leaves you speechless, easily my favorite reactors.

Rimuru

Yea that’s enough for today

Didier

Yeah Roshi, it was a parody of that meme with the black kid screaming while writing a test. For some reason, this meme seems pretty popular in Japan as it has been parodied in the Attack on Titan manga too.

Kingmakaii

Yes a double dose of depression that’s what I asked for I hate everyone who recommends this shit 😭

Hwiyeop Kim

why did i think that this was gonna be a side story movie of chainsaw man lol am i mixing this up with another movie?

Delinda Arts

Man seeing another artist's work, getting motivated to improve, then seeing that they been getting better too, is so real.

Delinda Arts

that skipping in the rain scene ruined me man. it was so beautifully animated and conveyed her excitement for being acknowledge by her peer...Fujimoto was spittin bars fr

SavvyAlloy

This reminds me of a manga Im currently reading called "The Summer You Were There". I recommend it to anyone who's willing to read it.

lyssa

Fujimoto never misses 😭

Didier

For me, the most striking detail is that the story starts with Fujino drawing alone in a room and ends with Fujino drawing alone in a room. And everything that has happened in between just became a part of her now. Just like in real life.

Didier

It's because there is supposedly a Chainsaw Man movie coming up.

Casually PS

As im watching this im just waiting for the sad shit to happen and its making me go crazy 😭😔

Aniki Pft

This gave me I Want to Eat Your Pancreas vibes.

Zoe

yes you are, You're thinking of the creators other work

Roxy Rezerina

This all hits harder with the history about Kyo-ani

Andres Holguin

bruh what is fujimoto's deal with doors 😭 Brings back trauma

Arkan Matlub

What do they even say on the outro they speak so fast

Nashty Doud

I had to look it up and saw creator also made chainsaw man, so that makes sense lol 😂 I love this story, so beautiful.

Johnny D. Wicked

Let's make it happen. Makes sense since Roshi and Sheera are parents cuz the movie has themes perfect for them.

Osiris Cage

Maaan if I was Fujino, I would've changed my name to The Dark Knight. Cause I would've found that man and gave him the Arkham Knight beat down.

원 지

rip blue box

Keenan Taylor

I remember reading this when it dropped idea a movie was coming out , this is fire .

Guav

seeing future chainsawman scenes was great, also the goodbye eri lmao

JotaroDrake

39:17 a spider the size of a quarter ran up on me in the dark in my bed during this part and had to take a few hours off from my room 😭 was so locked in

AresReborn

The movie they watched in this is the ending of the other manga one shot but tatsuki fujimoto called Goodbye Eri Hope it also gets animated it’s really good

Reckless Company

damn 3 sad updates back to back can we get some comedy my heart hurts

JotaroDrake

Really happy this got animated. Fujimoto never miss

Michael Kaiser

y'all should add the fable on the schedule for some comedy anime

lyssa

I have been advocating for this for some time. 🙂‍↕️

Reina Garcia

Recommending Yakuza Fiancé it just came out and it’s great so far I’m only on episode 5

Bob Loblaw

Have yall ever seen Saiki K?

stun bat

dam crazy that this is how I find out the fable is getting an anime

Rishad GB

they should watch ORB

zILovePelmeni _

when they went to the movies they actually watched "Goodbye Eri", another one shot from fujimoto

Shiroja

Currently at 16:10, this kid must be a future mapa employee. They start training young.

Verna69-08

If the penguin don't bite the curb in the New batman I'm gonna go to Gotham and kill Alfred myself.

Nita - Kento's Widow

Just paused and stared out my window for a moment when I realized where it was headed... Had me silent like Lupa was second half of the movie.

Quinn Balsam

Really cool that their names are split up versions of Fujimoto's. Fuji-no and Kyo-moto

RBGTalk

that makes sense, the music is extremely well thought out 🔥

gr2ves

lupa being quite for more than half the movie shows u how good it is LMAO

Sage Yggdrasil

this made me pick up the sketch book again

QualityFreak

Sheera scares me with how accurate her casual predictions are 😭 She'll be joking about something and it's actually true

Henrique I. Pereira

I pray with every inch of my being that this same studio adapts Goodbye Eri (another one shot by fujimoto), it's even better than Look Back.

KingdorismHD

Why does fuji look like reze from chainsaw man?

KingdorismHD

With all those still images slides I almost thought we were watching blue lock

Masneomlock

Me when I don't pay attention to some of the greatest character acting animation ever done because one sequence was still images

Icyking

At 10:02 there's a little drawing everyone should recongize

PayTheRent

Throwing this out here for a trio movie reaction when schedule clears up... Have yall seen The Lighthouse movie with Robert Patterson and Willem Dafoe ? It is distributed by A24 and Universal Pictures

Harry

when is the kdrama poll goat

RevealingStorm

I know right? The vast majority of it was absolutely amazing animation and It was done by one person which is even crazier

Ziggy

sad aah one shot, exactly why I avoided it

Kale

literally one of the most flawless movies ever made just from a structural and acting standpoint, plus shows Battinsons range fr

Iraaj

damn im probably late as hell, i just realised both their names spell fujimoto, fuji-no and kyo-moto

Caiden Hill

This is based on a true story, a arsonist set a fire to the animation studio he worked cause of plagiarism. Look up KyoAni Arsonist attack

The Anime Dude

First word you see in the manga is “don’t” written on a chalkboard, last words you see is the title “look back”. Idk if that was intentional or not, but knowing Fujimoto & how good his writing is… I’d guess so.

ComeTseMe

This one shot fucked me up 😭. It made me think about my middle school friend back in 2001 that I would hangout with and draw characters and comics together after school and on the weekends, at each others houses. He and I grew apart after middle school after moving away to different schools, and I lost my passion for art as no one in my new school was as dope or into art as him like I was. I tried to look him up but he doesn’t do social media I found out. I say this that you should never give up on your passions, I’m going to the store to pick up some composition books, and try to reignite the spark I had when I was younger. Enjoy the little things.

SmittyWerbenjägermanjensen

I didnt watch this yet since it got spoiled for me. But this story kind of reminds me of what happened to kyoani with the arsonist. Its really sad how innocent people lose their lives to stuff like this...

MGC

gotta keep moving forward

Thad Ziegler

I personally always like to interpret that alternate reality sequence as Fujino imagining what would've happened if she never got Kyomoto out of her room, which makes it hurt even more that she still met Kyomoto and started drawing again. It's almost like she can't even imagine a world where they don't meet and work together. I also feel like she always sort of held out hope that Kyomoto would come work with her again because why else would she keep using their duo name to publish her stuff

PhaedrusRumple

Roshi: “this isn’t that type of movie”

Offw0rlder

Ahhhhhhh I’m hurting nigga why am I hurting???? Medic? Help? 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Runawayjinx

21:33 "Give me head top"💪

Jojo_avena

" I can draw a fuck out of a house, but I can't draw a person to save my life." - Lupa Quoting Kyomoto. Be carful with your words HAAHA I died laughing hearing that omg now Im sad again. . .

Leaky Peach

The manga was actually released as a tribute to the KyoAni attack (it even released on the anniversary of the attack)

V STAN

Almost all of Fujimoto's works are Goated...I also need Goodbye Eri now

Brandon Acevedo

I dream of making my own comics and animation, and this movie really lit a fire in me. I hope it does the same for other artists.

Aaron Posey

I feel like Roshi fundamentally understands what obsession and dedication to one’s craft entails whereas Lupa doesn’t. There isn’t anything wrong with that though. Not everyone has a passion that would dedicate and sacrifice everything for however “unhealthy” that mindset is.

Xavier Baker

and thats why we have billionaires and multi-millionaires ,most of those ppl are obsessed with their craft to an 'unhealthy' extent but its just how they live life,or that fire ass food you get at those restaurants that arent doing too well profit wise, pure obsession

godUsoland

Funjino (Fuji) + Kyomoto (Moto) = Fujimoto, the Author of Chainsaw Man. You can tell large parts of this one shot come from Fujimoto's life. We can never know, but he might have known people at Kyoto Animation (Kyo in Kyomoto) who died when the studio was attacked by an Arsonist. Also, if you look at Fujimoto's art, you can see that while he isn't the best at drawing people, his background art is usually amazing. It makes you wonder if he wanted to go and pursue art as a Degree but didn't in order to continue making manga. The arguments Fujino gave Kyomoto about there not being any money or use in an Art Degree might have been words he was told himself, or thought about himself before he focused on manga over Fine Art.
