Y'all always come through for us!

Jamaal Ellison

Logan the richest person out of all the characters seen so far was comfortable just eating a cheeseburger from presumably McDonald's yet tom swore up and down he knows how rich people are supposed to eat. Even Ewan was comfortable just eating at a meager Ramen shop.

Aaron Posey

Goddamn Sheera chill LOL. Roshi understands the show. Kendall not being there fucked up the dynamic of how this was going to play out. Frank is a real one because he genuinely seems to love Kendall as a father figure and therefore stuck his neck out first to get things started. Gerri and Stewy are smart. They back whoever was going to win and due to Kendall’s absence in the room and Logan’s presence they understood what stepping out of line and backing the wrong horse would result in. If Kendall were able to trust his own instincts they would have won. He would have gotten Gerri’s loyalty and Stewy’s vote and it wouldn’t have come down to Roman who is both terrified and in awe of his father.

Yh Kendall being late to something that important made him seem unserious, they can’t have full confidence in him as the new CEO despite him running the company for a while. Like Lawrence said Logan air lifted himself into the office when he had a broken femur just to get in on time

Fred_D3

Calling your son a terrorist is hilarious

Aaron Posey

Yeah, Sheera underestimates the hell out of Logan and doesn’t quite grasp how much power he exudes. Everyone in that boardroom is absolutely terrified of him.

KomodoughDragon

Yes, firing the people who voted against him (which is a perfectly legal proceeding and likely a protected action within their company) is considered retaliation & wrongful termination, and they could pursue legal action assuming they have proof that the firing was directly due to their vote. The issue with pursuing cases like this against very large companies is that they often have enough resources to force you to spend obscene amounts of money on legal proceedings, which could bankrupt a normal person. So companies will often try to settle out of court instead, as very few people are willing to spend the time or money it takes to pursue any meaningful action. This way the company avoids negative attention, and the accuser is silenced. Your mileage may vary depending on where in the world & even where in your country you are located, of course.

Yes he does when Roshi mentioned the call from the president in the discussion after the episode. I said he's got it. Earlier in the episode the trio were discussing how kendall was going to make it from new york to long island and back in time for the meeting. They forgot that kendall was rich and hadn't considered he had a helicopter connection. I look at the president being Logan's helicopter.

It also is career suicide in a lot of jobs to sue the boss/company you worked at, you can become known for that and not hired at other places after your lawsuit, even if you win

KomodoughDragon
>>157231401

100%. If you work corporate for a large company (think on the scale of Apple, Nike, etc.) and you pursue legal action even if you were truly done wrong, you can pretty much kiss your career in that sector goodbye. It's just not worth it most of the time, which is a large part of how terrible people climb the ranks and stay in power.

Kozmo

The vote of no confidence does not legally require the leader in question to be removed from the room. It is expected but not illegal to have the person in the room during the vote. Worst case they can ask for a re vote but in this scenario anybody that wanted a revote was fired. Logan technically cant directly fire board members but he can squeeze them out since he's the majority shareholder which is effectively firing them just a longer process but the show took liberties with that.

Delgado

this going to be one of the shows that Roshi's logic outshines Sheera

Logan told Ken in the very first episode how it all works. “You make your own reality. And once you've done it, apparently, everyone’s of the opinion it was all so fucking obvious.” Succession is about rich people, business, politics, and family. But what the show is really about is power. Who has it and how it is used. Imo Succession is about how the world really works irl. Logan isn’t supposed to be in the room for the meeting let alone bullying votes in his favor. Yeah it’s “illegal”. So what. The board could sue, they’d settle out of court, it would be over. Meanwhile Logan is getting an apology from the president himself. Logan is a bastard but he’s also a force of nature. He wins. Ken has his graphs and analytics and buzzwords. Does anyone know if he’s actually good at business? We just hear people talk about it, and people talk about a lot of bullshit in Succession. If Ken hadn’t freaked out and flown out of the city to lock up a vote he probably would have won. The woman who called in to vote said she voted against Logan “after speaking with her family” (aka daughter). Ken basically had it locked up when he called the daughter, but he just couldn’t seal the deal over the phone. Because he’s awkward and desperate. Ken blinked. He loses. Roman is different. He got Lawrence before the meeting, but Lawrence saw how things were going in the room and made the smart choice to bow out. Roman knows how to handle people. But he doesn’t want to kill his daddy. So doesn’t win but stays in the game.

Nick Vaughn

Number one thing this show tells you about the world of business is that it’s all literally a d*ck swinging competition. Logan is a d*ck but above all like Roshi said, he’s good at getting what he wants because he’s an initimidating figure. Roman and Kendall are stooges in comparison to Logan and that’s been shown several times in the past few episodes.

PetersThimble
>>157231401

Exactly! None of those people are going to purse a legal battle against Logan Roy like I think they forgot how rich this guy is. Especially considering we was calling the mf president in order to get his company out of the muck.

Purple Haze

This whole episode stressed me out and I watched it when it originally aired. And on this rewatch Roman definitely was the weakest link. Had he voted against Logan they’d be celebrating Kendall as the new chairman. Kendall should’ve just called and explained his plan over the phone because without his presence to go against Logan they were all terrified and couldn’t vote how they should’ve which was against him. But you guys see why it won best drama(the highest award there is) at the Emmy’s for all 4 seasons lol.

Anthony Lazarin

Just to be clear Shiv and Nate didn't hook up. He was sleeping on the couch

Jaylen

study for finals or watch succession?

Jamie

King_Karimu

When I first saw this episode I thought Kendall made himself late on purpose after having dinner with his dad. I still think that’s the case.

Hwiyeop Kim
>>157237215

Maybe, but i think he looks 'too desperate' to be late on purpose. He was trying to get on his helicopter when he's not allowed, walked all the way to the company because of traffic, etc etc.

King_Karimu
>>157237215

I was thinking the same thing but when frank told him not to call the lady with cancer because it would mess up the vote it looked like he had thought of a way out. But you’re right he was literally running through the streets

Enyinnaya Igwe

Lupa know ball, I’m wearing the same color satin-lined beanie on my head🙏🏿🔥

Mali Howard

Sheera really turning up for Kendall😭 IDC Kendall and Roman are not up to snuff to run that company. I haven’t seen one thing Kendall has done that has made that company better. Yes he knows how to speak well and give speeches but everything else that matters like being intimidating and commanding the room his horrible. And Roman is just clueless. They both come from money that Logan built from the bottom. He understands the game better than anyone of his kids and they just can’t seem to play at the caliber he wants them too

Kozmo

Sheera is right! Logan’s plan will sink the company, TV is a dying business. Kendal and Roman’s plan is correct if they want to save and transition the company to a better future. The issue is Logan is too stubborn to realize this and Kendall and Roman are to inadequate execute their own plan.

Delinda Arts

Kendall: ROMAN??!! Roman: I- ....I'm tryna eat!

Yamin Aqeeli

In retrospect it’s crazy how this show has all the dynamics set in place from episode one. Any predictions you make can be valid because that’s how good the character writing is. Any comedic scene, one liner or what you might think isn’t much ends up adding or explaining a character. What’s even crazier is that to the core none of there people are good, of course that is very vague and they are more nuanced then that but you gotta be a di*k to survive in that world

Kingmakaii

Him firing everyone ion even blame bro yall niggas just tried to do a rebellion and yall think I’m finna let yall do it again nah yall niggas fired get tf out 😂

Sekraan
>>157235566

The funniest thing is that Kendall screwed himself by reaching out to Ilona's daughter in the first place. Ilona probably wouldn't have attended if he hadn't psyched himself out and panicked. He got stuck in traffic as a result of his own neurosis.

Sekraan
>>157231401

Realistically, the main way this could so south is if major shareholders were affronted enough to take legal action. Kendall and his siblings could definitely sue as they partially own the company. Stewie and Lawrence abstained and don't have a dog in this fight. Other major shareholders could sue, but are probably better off waiting to see if Logan can turn the tanker around, considering that the stock price only crashed because of his incapacitation.

Bro is out here telling everyone that he’s the man before he steps into a puddle filled up to the ankles with his own flop sweat

Sekraan
>>157231401

@KomodoughDragon great point as to why rank and file employees aren't incentivized to take legal action in most cases. The risks outweigh the rewards in most cases. Suits under discrimination laws like Title VII of the CRA are one possible exception, if they are winnable. The other big one is qui tam actions by whistleblowers who reveal fraud against the US federal government, since they can recover a big percentage of any penalties against the wrongdoers. In the case of someone like Frank denied exit package, he just sues or threatens to do so and the company settles.

HBK 713 🏄🏾‍♂️

That's the problem with old rich men, you can kick'em down the stairs and say it's accident, but you can't just shoot'em 🤣😂🤣 John Ruth The Hangman

anna

roshi’s reaction to the vote and kendall is so funny bro😭😭

Lamaree Jackson

The more I watch this show the more it seeps into other shit I watch. Can’t watch wrestling no more without thinking about how Triple H is a Wambsgans headass dude. And with the current WWE situation that only cements my thoughts that Tom is gonna “win” this show.

Lamaree Jackson

I think this was around the time Brian Cox started narrating McDonald’s commercials so that was some good product placement lol

Jamaal Ellison
>>157263382

Yeah every time I see a McDonald's ad hearing Cox's voice i feel like Logan's telling me to eat McDonald's or else.

Imari
>>157241980

I think all the kids are terrible choices for running but in that same breath their father is a very prideful man and when it comes to his way or someone’s else’s he choices his every time. Even when the odds are stacked against him and even though he wins every time it’s still very clear his not fit to lead.

Pablo

Roshi only one realising Logan is HIM

Rayanh LaNansha

Roshi's reactions to this show has made it so entertaining, I'm now laughing at almost everything going on when I didn't on first watch 😂 . I also felt the same way Roshi does about Logan. Everything seems so dire that it's easy to underestimate Logan and the fact that he can pull through at that juncture. My take was, regardless of what everyone has to say about Logan's decision-making, he's ultimately the one who built his company into what it is. At the end of the day, there's a reason why he's in charge and they aren't. And while his mortality could F them over once more, as a viewer, I wasn't at all worried about it happening again so soon after it first happened. Wish you guys posted more than one episode per week!

anna
>>157236384

did it win best drama for season 1? i thought it was only 2-3

Jigga Man

Roman is bottom barrel scum bro. Couldn't seal the deal and when he has the deciding vote chose to be his father's bitch than get standing in the company. What a loser.

kalood7.

Oh Romulus ohhh.

Z.A.C.H
>>157241980

Same, though, I’ve always held the opinion, that Kendal would have a good shot, if he had the chance and the respect of his father.

bleach

Roman needed to stand on business

ME

Just finished watching this show as y’all started your reactions, so it’s really fun being able to go back immediately to the beginning and see how the writing and storytelling influences the future episodes. Looking forward to “Austerlitz” tomorrow, probably one of my favorites.

AllanJ

Roshi's favorite character is definitely Tom, the subtle humor is something I never expected from this show 😂

Benny

Suing one of the richest and most influential man in the world will not work out. He has the money to drag that case out until your penniless. The board is already rich asf, mind you. The thing about this show is that it's showing you how the ultra rich operate; Logan was able to personally talk to the president of the US to waive away any issues with the FCC. There's no way in hell you can successfully sue that man with that kind of power. The amount of connections he has with other people over 60 years is insane. Logan mentioned in EP1 that it's about who has the biggest dick in the room, and it's true.

Fizzy

Roman got me heated this ep all that talk just to crumbled under pressure

Daniel De Lira

yeah that ortolan bird dish is real and that is actually how you eat it

I.C.Y

They are wildly rich and powerful and can break these people at any time. Roman has always been weak and is dumb just manipulative. Kendal is smart but lacks confidence

Oliver

9:45 Notice how it says LIRR (LIAR) on the wall when Shiv lies. 51:15 Kendall looking like a scared boy in front of his dad

LiquidXGravity
>>157237215

No he really wasn't trying to be late he only got there late because of the terrorist threat that he didn't know was happening

janelle

the final song in this episode, “which side are you on?” is a union song from the 1930s, back when union membership in the US was higher (it peaked in the 1950s at one-third of the working population). quite an ironic use here, for CEOs fighting over who gets a slice of the pie.

janelle
>>157230940

i think succession fans make the mistake of treating logan like he’s infallible. sure he’s a beast, he has a lot of experience, he’s often right. but he’s also an egomaniac, convinced he won’t die, and set in his old ways in a sector that’s actively dying. these facts about him put the company in jeopardy repeatedly. it’s not smart to over OR underestimate him.

Azzy V

Shiv is selfish . Tom is a great significant other to her and shes being shady and basically cheating on him . #whoresinmenfields (jk still fuck shiv) 💀😭
