This show goes hard not just in sci-fi but with existentialism and philosophy. For instance, the argument of if David is still human in the game, is something highly debated about in philosophy for decades, while also being known as 1 of the 3 most likely next stages in human evolution (alongside Mutants and Cyborgs). "The Ghost in the Machine" is a long standing exstistential problem that doesn't exactly have a clear answer and shouldn't either🙂🔥

Did Cary like the woman he was working with?. I guess thats what the flashback implied so maybe he is actually going to miss Caspian. Maybe he was living a fantasy in the beginning where they were together and Caspian was their kid even though he knew it was a fake situation. I think roshi is right with him being another copy of holstrom and thats why the fake mom is all in to make him the same as before.

The things with Cary is yes he does care for Caspian and got attached, especially since they raised him together but that mom was always on that bs, like even thought it's her job she has no care for Caspian at all even tho he's not her child. Cary actually took the role of being his dad to heart until he had to act abusive. He never harmed either of them on purpose cuz that's not who he is.

The 'mom' was the one mostly in charge of the experiment with Caspian. She's the one who kept Cary on task, the one in contact with the guy at headquarters, the one who made the hard decisions. Cary was showing hesitance constantly, even in the first episode.
