Someone that Andor killed off screen in between the last episode and this one, because the soldier they showed in her nightmare with Dr. Ghost was the soldier in question, and it wasn’t the same one that tried to SA her in the last one. This show did a couple of REALLY cool things with Star Wars canon. One of them gets talked about in this ep, but you get more details soon in other eps so I won’t go into TOO many details. No spoilers! The main thing that’s so cool that they did was this deal with the Tarkin massacre. Before Disney bought Star Wars, the canon was broad and often contradictory to itself, so rather than pick and choose, Disney just said “aight everything that hasn’t been seen onscreen was Legends. Only the movies made before now are canon.” The Tarkin massacre was in a book so it was deemed non-canon. There was something else that replaced that event in canon in the show Rebels. But this show said “nah you know what? BOTH them shits happened. They’re BOTH canon.” And then they set out starting in this ep to explain them both and how each event helped shape the other event. Genius writing. A lot harder to do well than it seems like it would be.

Another sign of how deep the production on this show went: they didn’t just build that whole city set practically, they ALSO created a whole fake language for the Ghormans (based on French, German, Scandinavian languages, and others) and then they hired all French actors to play the Ghormans. The French actors all learned the FAKE language so well that the actors spoke the language to each other on set even when not filming. Just an INCREDIBLE level of production in this show.

Yeah it’s been a year, they’re talking about a different soldier. The guy who was a vegetable in her nightmare at the beginning of the ep. There are things that happen offscreen between arcs in this season and the show deals with those events without always explaining every little detail. It doesn’t really matter what happened offscreen or who the imperial soldier kid was, what matters is showing that Cassian is getting harder and colder while Bix is really struggling with the guilt of whatever it was that happened.

D’qar is actually a base they use in the sequel trilogy. It’s old and been abandoned for a long time when they use it in the sequel trilogy. So now we know it’s an old Partisan base that Saw and his crew used in this time period

ya the locals as someone mentioned are based in large part what the French Resistance of Nazi Germany looked like and then of course mix in whatever resistance in history and you can see parallels. pretty cool and if I was a teacher and kids enjoyed shows like this, this would be a cool way to introduce groups like that.

So the imperial soldier they keep talking about is the boy that they mention afterwards of Cassian shooting because the boy saw her face. I believe this is also the boy we see in her PTSD in the beginning getting tortured. They are just discussing that a lot of things have happened in that 1 year time jump, including doing more missions together with Luthen.

This show reminds me of BCS because it's a prequel. We know who lives already, and when there are new characters who aren't in the movies, it's because they either die or go away for whatever reason, so it makes it compelling to know what happens to them I love it.

Ok so I haven’t finished Andor and decided to wait to watch with these guys. 15 mins in and I already suspect Syril is doing what’s called counterinsurgency without needing it to be confirmed. he’s intentionally acting in ways to attract rebels who will invite him to their cause so he can fuck it up. That combined with what Dedra said in episode 1 about “rebels you can depend on to do the wrong thing” The Black Panthers were infiltrated the same way by the FBI.

This is the most polite way to call out Lupa. I've tried many times before, suggesting that he still keep his jokes and talking throughout the show, but at least keep his eyes on the screen (it's possible to do both). But habits are hard to break, so we just have to accept that sometimes they may miss major parts of episodes. It is what it is.
