I wonder what she saw. Did she see Hikaru as a creature or was he already put together and it looked like they were going to kiss so she left. She was too calm and put together if she saw what Hikaru looked like for real. When she was talking to her friend in class she thought it was weird that they were skipping together.

Small thing, but they cut out a line near the beginning that I wish they wouldn't have. After Yoshiki & his dad finish talking, his sister & mom notice them, and his mom says "he's always quick to put on a good face for you kids". In the manga, there are a couple more lines where she then says out loud what she's planning to make for dinner, and Yoshiki's sister notes that it's their dad's favourite dish. Gives a totally different feel to the scene.

Asako's mentioned before that she can only hear impurities. So either she heard something crazy was going down, or it looked like they were about to kiss, or because "Hikaru" is some sort of entity beyond an impurity maybe she actually saw him. Or who knows, maybe all three tbh.

Yea. She also mentioned her hearing has been off since Hikaru almost killed her, that something was wrong. I wonder how much can she still hear. She was way too calm for me though if she did see/hear anything. Although I dont blame her for silently leaving if saw demon hikaru and just noped out of there lol

That's fair. I thought she looked more like she was in shock rather than calm/unbothered, but I can see how it looked otherwise. Definitely a lot to process when she doesn't even know that Hikaru's been dead for like 6 - 7 months at this point.

Kouhei and Toshi were just another doomed yaoi, sadly. Just like Yoshiki and og-Hikaru. Honestly if Hikaru didn't die, Yoshiki would end up exactly like his dad, married (or alone for life ) , unhappy , dead inside and painfully masking.

Roshi is right. Everyone is very much in their own feelings. Being extremely selfish because of how alone they feel and wanting someone they love to stay near, even if its a hazard. Lord know Toshi would do thr exact same thing if Kouhei somehow came back as a monster. Tanaka clearly has an agenda here for just slicing Hikaru's head and leaving it be. Clearly something deeper on his end is at play otherwise he would've dealt with that issue then and there.

Lmao yeah it sucks for Yoshiki to hear. Though to play a little bit devil's advocate, I don't think his dad sees him or their family as part of the village. I think he really feels like they're a family of outsiders.

Its open ended. I kinda believe its one sided with Toshi loving Kouhei but it wasn't meant to be due to Kouhei being straight and being responsible to marry, have a kid and carrying on the ritual. Toshi had no choice but to conform and be in an unhappy marriage blahnlahnlah. Thats what my headcanon is.

I'm going to need everyone who is tied to this thing to accept this truth: That THING is NOT human! That thing is NOT Hikaru! It's a powerful and predatory yokai that ate Hikaru's soul and is wearing his corpse like a costume. I think once they accept that, they'll start making the more appropriate choices.

tbf, "Hikaru" is the only one that's made any sort of effort to take responsibility and improve things, he's the only one that seriously brought up going back up to the mountain to try to fix things, and is actively trying to become more human so that he doesn't hurt people without realising what he's doing. Yoshiki's accepted "Hikaru" isn't human, but he's depressed and ready to die with him if it comes to that. Kurebayashi is the most at fault imo, because she's been through this once before and has seen the consequences, but she's also clearly traumatized and maybe trying to make things right with her past by helping Yoshiki and "Hikaru" in the present. They all need to start taking things more seriously, but they also have very human reasons for why they're dragging their feet. It's just going to make it worse when things finally come to a head, though.
