To note this is an original storyline from what I can tell. There are short spin off series to Alice in Borderline. The one containing Arisu is definitely different from this. Small similarities but very different. Also anyone who died in the games died. The winners all had varying degrees of memory from the events of the main series. Small feelings of recollection nothing big.

S1 and S2 felt more like part 1 and part 2, now this is a sequel - but so proud to see Arisu go from COD game guy in his room, to going to graduate school - guy inviting everyone to the games is buddy from the chishiya jack game, the serial killer dude that teamed up with the other guy and decided to stay

Yeah Banda won the Jack of Hearts game with Chishiya and Yaba. Banda and Yaba chose to stay in Borderland as citizens at the end of season 2

Sooo am i the only one who remember the dude that gave them the joker cards?? He is from season 2. The guy from the prison cell game with chishiya where they had to guess the card suit on the collar they’re wearing. He was that weird guy who teamed up with the other dude where they tormented the jack of hearts in the prison cell to get more infos about the games. Both of them chose citizenship. The guy who introduced the wheelchair dude with the old maid game is the same guy from the prison cell game with chishiya in season 2 as well. Both of them accepted the citizenship so that’s why they’re there recruiting.

Since there are 2 joker cards in each deck, I’m wondering if it’s just the two who became citizens last time running the show or if there are bigger baddies behind them. Also I was surprised to find out it wasn’t from the source material because half way through season 2 I was wondering when the jokers would come into play.

They're using English subtitles for the English Dub audio channel, instead of the English subtitles for the original Japanese audio channel. Most of the time it doesn't matter if you don't know some Japanese spoken words, but english dubs do very often make very weird changes in weird places. I think because english dubs prioritize mouth synchronization over accuracy. Mostly not plot relevant though. But in season 2 of this show, it made some things confusing when they shouldn't have been, or flat out nonsense. nerd wall of text: For example Season 2 Episode 6 King of Diamonds game is supposed to be called "Balance Scale" as it matches the writing filmed in the scene (hiragana for tenbin) but the English dub and matching subtitles say/read "Beauty Contest". Yet the english dub still keeps the strange line of Chisiya saying "Like a drop from heaven", which I think is a pun on tenbin being in hiragana instead of katagana, which lets you read things like sky/heaven (ten) and I'm assuming something else means drop or fall or something similar. [IDK I don't know any Japanese]. The point is; the English audio dub and it's subtitles don't focus on accurate translation nor a transliteration that is easier for english speakers or english cultures to understand or empathize with. It just makes Chishiya sound like he's had a sudden burst of poetic inspiration, with no effort to explain he's making a pun, same as ther other subtitles, but those other titles are at least an accurate translation. So the subtitles that are for the english translation of the japanese audio might be slightly better, but it mostly doesn't matter at all.

It's pretty good! You'll get why it's beloved if you watch. It's based off a manga, so it'll have some anime-like cliches and a bit of unlikeable/stupid characters, but overall pretty good.

I notice sometimes when YBR cast repeats what a character just said it's quite different from what I have on my screen though, so it could also just be regional differences in subtitle distribution, especially if they use a vpn.

not entirely sure what you mean - in the shot at 16:34, I can see 7 people...and the bodies don't "disappear" or anything, guy's in a coma in the hospital, so 6 dead + one near-dead that was transferred to the hospital

at 25:26 the reporter says that there were 7 bodies found in an office, but we know that the guy in the wheelchair survives because he won that game and he also meets up with Usagi later at the hotel, so that means there should have only been 6 bodies found...where'd they get the extra body? I don't know if its meant to be purposeful, but it's just really eerie, and maybe its meant to show the lengths the game masters go to to cover their tracks🤷🏽‍♀️
