There’s two theories in the last comment section getting traction and I think they’re both onto something, which is that 1. The old and disfigured body is Godolkin and 2. is the real cipher, and Hamish Linklater is just a body that he’s controlling. Okay, so it just hit me like a minute in. So i'm gonna take my guess at what's going on so Spoiler/Theory on what Ciphers deal is...... i'm guessing that the guy in the tube is the guy who started the school, Godolkin, and he got powers from that accident in the lab and he's using the Dean as him puppet and he need Marie for some typer of treatment for himself. It can't be a simple blood transfusion becuase he could just do that with someone else's blood normally that could heal him. So it must be something on a molecular level that he's trying to train her to understand and fix him.. Okay so after watching the ep I think its to heal his real body, yalking about how he's always in pain, this would be his way to heal i'm guessing.

Sage and Cipher need to be taken out. Cipher can be dealt with once they figure out him, but Sage’s only weakness is going to be Cipher themselves or someone like Homelander/Butcher who won’t care to talk if pushed far enough. I think what Marie did, potentially, was not just bring back to life, but syphon life energy from people around her to undo the death. Cause all her buddies were effected and probably anybody in a near by cell.

The cuffs don't inhibit their powers, they can still use their powers with the cuffs on. The cuffs just shocks them if they use their powers. That's why they put Emma in a circular room made of glass with no crevices, she can still get small, she just has nowhere to hide in that glass room. That's why they gave Marie an anticoagulant, to thin her blood and make it hard for her to control.
