This might pissed people off, what I'm about to say, but fuck it, here goes. Gen V did a WAY BETTER job with doing a face turn with two characters, Sam & Kate, than Peacemaker tried to do with one character, Sasha Bordeaux (The Latina Cyborg Woman). Sam & Kate had better character growth and arc throughout this season so far, while Peacemaker wants us to believe that, after one montage that her character suddenly changed for the better. It was hard for me to believe in her character after she was so gun-ho about killing Peacemaker for multiple episodes to have a quick turnaround about him in a single episode. Gen V gave us more time with Sam & Kate to make their turnabout much more believable.

I do understand why Marie did what she did. Should she have done it? No. But having spent all of her life being treated as a monster by family and friends, blamed for killing her parents when it wasn't her fault, and when bad things happen she gets blamed Her wanting to be the hero and her leaving the others made sense. Refuses to heal Cate cuz she cant trust her not to use her powers on them then not even 10mins later not only uses her power on her friends but then tries to force Cate to use her powers on them too. The biggest hypocrite ever. Not only did she do the exact same thing Cate did but she did it for the exact same reason Cate did it, because she thought she knew better and thought she was protecting them. So did Cate. Cate even warned her that telling them theyre so powerful and amazing is exactly how Vought gets you. They gas you up and get you to believe youre the best thing ever. Marie watched how all of Voughts bullshit played out with Cate and then retraced the exact same steps Cate did bar for bar. Greg being an opp confirmed: Greg told Emma and Sam that he found Marie in the Seminar room. Marie was not in the Seminar room, she had just gotten off the phone with Cipher in Ciphers office. But you know who was in the Seminar room.....Cipher. Which is where Polarity and the gang ended up. Plus, Cipher knew about their plan to try and stop the fight between Marie and Jordan because he was controlling Greg. Remember Greg was involved in planning that because Bushmaster is his sister. Also to explain why Jordan shifted from female to male at the beginning when Annabeth came in the room: their male form is their very strong and durable defensive form. Jordan shifts to male when they feel they need to be tough (Marie previously called them out for this last season, they shift to male during arguments to make a point or to appear more aggressive) or when they need to defend themselves. They shifted male cuz someone had just busted in their room yelling and they might have needed to defend themselves from an attack. Also why they used their male form in their tussle with Sam a few episodes ago and why they used their male form in the fight with Polarity in this episode

Not to defend Marie, but to kinda understand her thinking a bit, she is well aware that she is the only one that can bring Godolkin back. What she said to Annabeth was uncalled for, but to be fair, a few episodes ago, when Marie said she just wants to keep Annabeth out of danger, Annabeth told her its impossible, because the danger is wherever Marie is. Marie attempted to do it alone, legit to keep her friends and sister out of danger. The way she went about it was messed up, using her powers on them, but I genuinely do believe she had good intentions, even though yeah, Marie messed up big time. Like Godolkin said, she can't help but play the hero

Marie probably does die (or at least gets very close to it) like Annabeth saw in her vision, but then she probably will heal herself. She's also so gullible for healing the nigga who is basically known as the father of supes. Idk why she thought trusting the nigga who wanted to make god-tier supes was a good idea. She knows based on what Stan Edgar told them last episode that Project Odessa was made to make stupid strong supes, and the only two subjects that survived were Homelander and herself. Marie's definitely letting Cipher's words get to her about being one of the strongest in the world, and now she's responsible for letting a violent, power-hungry supe supremacist loose on the world. They don't even know the full extent of his powers; he was already able to control one person for who knows how long and how far away and then also control a second person remotely as well. Now that he's healed and back to 100% there's no telling how much of a problem he is.

Interesting point I've thought of over the last couple of episodes, I don't think Godolkin is really all that smart. When we were introduced to him, he was portrayed as this sort of all-knowing, super-intimidating character, but we've seen him get very frustrated or angry about certain things. Most notably in this episode, he gets so worried and anxious about his plan not working that he almost kills himself. I think it's notable the way he speaks about Sage and how Saga was the one who told him to just trust her and not worry because Marie would come back. Godolkin fully did not believe it, until she actually did. Now obviously, Sage is a super genius, so nobody is going to look the smartest next to her, but I just mean it in the sense that I think Sage may be playing him just like she did with Vought and the Seven. She interacts with Godolkin in a somewhat similar fashion to Homelander(minus the y'know...}, so I think she might end up screwing him over in the long run. I think Godolkin feels like Sage and him are partners in his bigger plan of Supe culling, but I don't actually think Sage feels the same way. Which is crazy considering that would mean we still don't really know what she actually wants.

Now that I think about it, why didn't Emma tell them Godolkin was a Nazi? She literally found his secret Nazi room with Polarity in the back of the archives. Why would she think a man she's knows is a Nazi would help them? Why didn't they spend any time trying to understand how Cipher had powers when they knew he had no V in his blood? That's at least 2 plot points that if they had taken the time to understand them, they couldve avoided what happened at the end. If they had spent even 5mins trying to understand how Cipher had powers with no V they likely would've come to the same conclusion the audience did, that he was being controlled by someone else. Thats not true, they had the same info we did. They didn't know the old man was Godolkin and they didnt know the old man had powers, sure, but they DID know that 1. Cipher had no V in his blood cuz Marie told them, 2. they knew he displayed powers despite having no V couldn't, cuz Kate literally saw him do it, 3. They knew Kate couldn't read his mind cuz Kate told them she couldnt, and 4. they knew his powers were mind control cuz they literally saw him do it. That is the exact same info the audience had. So if the audience was able to put those 4 pieces of info together and conclude he's being controlled by someone then they should have been able to conclude that as well. Even if they couldn't conclude who specifically was controlling him, they absolutely could've concluded he was being controlled by SOMEONE.

I just wanted to say I really love the way this show is dealing with the theme of how fascist Ideology & white supremacy is linked with heroism. Because the idea of being a "special one" being hero worshipped are things that fascist Ideology like to promote because it's all about the idea of being a superior being, and romanticize made up myths of a being a once great insert x. That's how Cate got sucked in, and now we're seeing it with Marie. The internalizing of "I'm the chosen one" and "it's up to only me to decide the fate of the world." because might is right. I really love the subtext of what they been exploring and unpacking in this series. And I like how it is accurately explaining that the thing with fascist/ white supremacist Ideology is that anyone can be propagandized into it, and it warns of the dangers of not questioning your own power. Like it's not just Marie being flawed in this way, it could be any number of them, that they could be manipulated & indoctrinated this way. And I think often in media it's really easy to flatten this topic, into just a character did these things because they are inherently bad, but that's not the point the show is making, but moreso a commentary on how we worship the myth of an hero and that can and has been weaponized in society.
