Imo Saku didn't want an apology because of what Rintaro said at the restaurant about his background. Rintaro explained why he had a hard time with people in general so even though he kept putting a wall between him and his friends it wasn't because of a lack of trust towards them but rather not knowing how to fully rely on them and that difference made Saku see Rintaro's previous actions in a different light.

I freaking adore this show. I love shows like this one and Horimiya where the guy is the one who has the insecurities and vulnerability and it's handled in a real and positive way. A lot of romance anime have the girl being the one that needs an extra boost of confidence or reassurance and the guy is there for her. It should go both ways.
