While I do think fear of Carol doing more dangerous shit is one reason why they fucked off but I also think there's another aspect people aren't considering: she hurt their feelings. That was my immediate thought when they left. She literally hurt their feelings. They have been nothing but nice and accommodating to her, bending over backwards. Zosia risked her life by taking a grenade blast for her and her response was to straight up almost kill Zosia, even if it wasn't intentional. I think that's another reason they were crying in the moment, their feelings were hurt at what she was doing to them.

My biggest frustration with Carol is that she's just straight up rude. She talks to them in such a condescending and belitting tone all the time and it's so off-putting even for me as a viewer. She is the epitome of fucking rude. The 2nd thing that frustrated me this episode is that she has yet to take accountability for almost killing Zosia. She can pick up the phone to demand they pick up her trash but can't say "hey, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to almost KILL her.". Nope, instead she chooses to act as tho almost killing Zosia is not a big deal and they're overreacting. She absolutely refuses to take accountability for her actions and that for me is also very off-putting. I get the situation she's in but that doesn't make her any less of a bitch and a Karen. Her personality itself is just very unpleasant and you can tell she was already unpleasant before all of this

one thing that I found weird is that - lets say I'm playing a video game like Spore for example, and I control all the creatures myself, I wouldn't call myself "we" or "us", I'd simply say "me" or "I" but out of the mouths of different people, so they're not a single entity, they're still individuals, only working in tandem. I love how Carol claims to be this independent person who wants to be left alone, but she literally relies on the hivemind/other people for everything. "Take out my trash. Stock my grocery store. Supply me with drugs. Send my video out." She hasn't really done a single thing that hasn't involved another person, and she is actively pissed that the entire world is distancing themselves from her now. At least the other survivor that doesn't like the hivemind is actually fending for himself. Carol is simultaneously understandable yet so incredibly privileged, and she probably doesn't even realize it.

It's literally all of the above. They left for all those reasons. Including hurt feelings and fear. Yes, she's a threat to their goal, but she also literally overdosed Zosia and thus harmed her (with more intent this time compared to the grenade scenario). As I once said, Carol is their nuclear bomb, but they STILL want to make her happy, meaning also telling her the truth of the cure. But they can't do EITHER. Lol. So then a cognitive dissonance to occur, and thus create further conflict between them. And yes, they ended up crying and leaving in result. We need to understand the show better - it's all nuanced.

They might have people taking care of them off screen. In the last episode one of the hivemind said there were people in the hospital who were recovering from being drug addicts before they were taken over, so it's not a big leap to think there are people assigned to taking care of all the babies also.

it might just mean you're not paying attention enough. theres a lot going on every second, its just not plainly said to you. every composition was beautifully crafted so far. every sign or word was placed exactly where it would be an added message. lets say for example the part where helen and her are drinking and it seems to be dragged a bunch right? in the background TV you could see the reports on the shut down of the airforce base, as well as an intermission later on that said "join us for tomorrows broadcast", clearly indicating that the pandemic has begun with the "join us" part. it was just slightly blurred since it was in the background. things like that happen all the time in this show, and if it was faster paced, it would be hard to take note of these things.

Everyone thinks human bodies because they set it up that way. Like the writers held your hand and led you down that path. It is too obvious and too simple of a conclusion. "We've all seen this movie", and the writers know you have too. It wouldn't surprise me if they're using up the remaining stock of animal meat and offal, then reducing it down with fruit and veggies into a crystalised/powdered form for better transportation and storage. Because that storage facility isn't a milk bottling plant (that's just where they mix it) but a dog food processing facility. Beyond that, I like how passive-aggressive they were in this episode. It actually gives them personality and makes them seem more human. But I think it's a manipulation tactic, like a scorned partner giving you the space you want, but in abundance. Their love and compassion doesn't work so let Carol know the full weight of how it is to be without them. Also, she's still entirely reliant on them. Even down to letting them hear everything she's doing and planning, then requesting them to distribute said information to the others. How is it honestly possible for her to sneak around anywhere? I've got a feeling this is going to end up with Carol looking foolish with her assumptions, and they'll turn things on their head again.

Like it isn't recognisably human but her assumption the hive are evil leads her to think they're human remains. That was the problem in Kamen Rider Gavv where they were processing the humans into crack. What they did there was similar to crack cocaine, they freed the drug from the base by using acid to separate the materials from the human corpses (yes, I'm talking about a super hero series where drug dealers free base humans into crack, but this is sci-fi and we aren't exactly going with real life science)

I only made it about 15 minutes into the reaction before pausing and moving on. I might drop the show. I like the concept but my major hangup with the show is Carol and I was annoyed with her in Ep 2 and saw the continued fuckery. We even see before all this happened she was a miserable person who couldn't enjoy things. Now she wants to save mankind when she has a double digit millions body count of her own? She doesn't care what the other survivors want or have to say but she's the last pillar of humanity and their only hope of saving the race? Nearly killed Zosia but is moseying along like everything is on track and like she's not dependent on people when we can pretty much see she was dependent on her partner as well before all this. I'll mull it over if I want to continue but Fuck Carol.

This was a really interesting episode. I called it in episode 3 that if the Hive views you as an existential threat they can leave and that's exactly what happened here. That being said there seems to be a lot more going on underneath the surface. -Why use milk cartons? Plastic bottles are much easier to mass produce. So, either they didn't want the humans to see what the liquid was (unlikely since there is only 13 worldwide) or whatever that liquid is it rapidly denatures if exposed to light. (Ofc it could also be that they are just extremely environmentally conscious but I dont think this is the case) -Why serve Carol at all? The Hive has no obligation at all to continue to provide Carol's needs. Yes they seem to want to do no harm but ignoring her completely after abandoning her isnt directly harming her. This leads me to thinking that perhaps the Hive themselves are slaves to whatever alien force created them. They have limited agency and cant disconnect themselves even from someone they dont like. -Is it human bones or some other "bad" thing? I really hope this show doesn't go the cliche route of "the utopia is secretly corrupt all along haha". One of the most interesting things about this show is that it portrays the utopia concept completely straight. Yes, it is indeed a perfect utopia. By playing it straight that makes the central concept of whether freedom and agency is a worthy sacrifice for paradise have more weight. If the Hive is secretly evil that will reduce the impact of the show and drive it more towards generic portrayals we've seen over and over again.

I really like Carol as a character. Part of you roots for her, and another part of you wants to grab her and shake the shit outta her for being such a dumb, prissy asshole about things. She lets her emotions get the better of her all the time and is a clear juxtaposition to the hive mind who are always logical. It is hard to like her a lot of the times, but you still root for her to figure things out since her goal is a noble one (or is it?). Or you can hate her because she's an asshole human that makes things worse for herself over and over. Super interested to see where her character goes. It is about time we get another big moment in the show. We've had plenty of characterization. Time to get the ball rolling a bit faster. I trust in Vince, he lets his writing play out and doesn't rush things.

I think it is genetic but this kind of rarity would require a very specific combination of genes to stop the virus from functioning. But if one of those genes isn't present it might not provide immunity. For example 2 of the immune we've seen have children but they weren't immune. Identifying those genes out of billions of options is very time consuming and complex, which is probably why the hive thinks it'll take so long.

I feel like the substance is going to be something heinous like frozen ground up bones/dehydrated freeze dried people or something. They weren't burying or burning people's dead bodies, but loading them in trucks that were capable of freezing them. Carol only eats frozen food, maybe a parallel or something? And in this episode, like the virus, the wolves came and their instinct drove them to food (and even though Carol removed what she thought was their food source, ie the trash, we forgot the the other thing that is technically food -- her wife's dead body). We don't know what they do to the dead, but I feel like this episode in particular is telling us to think about the bodies.

"Fending for himself" Maaan it's only been like 8 days total and that was Day 3 we saw him, and things were already looking dire for buddy lol. He has maybe a day and a half of self suffiency over Carol that we saw lol. Carol considering herself independent while also being quite fucking dependent on the hive is not a hypocrisy unique to her. That's just being human and participating in society.

Waking up in a vacant building is crazy. Throws me back to when I went to sleep as a kid, my family all doing their own thing in the house, then waking up to find no one there. They all came back later, but I was going out of my mind for a bit there. The pickup may be efficient, but it still takes time to translate, distribute them all to the different people, and then send back a reply, if any comes.
