PS: if you don't want to read this theory then you can kindly skip over it. Ok so I have a theory currently so since that thing above the border is the watchman itself I think it acts like a bouncer in a way. Where if you don't have something from the watchman series you get immediately killed. But if you do have something from the series you can pass through the border easily and that's why rudo didn't die from crossing the border because he had something from the series in his possession.

Also I think the bird would’ve got destroyed. But it’s 50/50 I also have the theory that. Those with the watchman series can pass through. So maybe since tidiness in the bird it wouldn’t have attacked it. That’s also probably why rudo didn’t die while falling. That thing might read the vital instrument then kill once it see’s its normal

Synopsis: It seems the watchman is the protector of the border and allows certain people/things past. Zydol made the trash beast with “protection” to see who would live or die when they reached the border but the only way to test that was the trash beast. I think he knows the trash beast is the best way but the true test to see who lives or dies is the problem. That’s why lightning chick said I have to tell him what the watchman is. Another thing she said the watchman takes what’s precious to you and I think that’s why rudo was able to pass. He quite literally lost everything and had nothing precious to him at the time when he passed. And also we still don’t know about rudo dad or even if it’s relevant. 🤫🔥

Imo rudo was able to pass because he has one of the pieces of the watchman series. The "angels" also probably have one or one of them had one when they went up there. However it is 100% confirmed one of them have a watchmen series at least now because they took regtos book. So whoever came back down probably has it while the other one stayed up there.

I think the Trash beast blew up right above the city so that means trash debris death everywhere.

The top of the bird started reaching the border which is why Rudo saw it flash black. They were getting there and they would have died. You can see the tip of the bird in front of the watchman. The bird could have made it to the border but everybody inside would have died.

Honestly I feel like that's cap. The author herself approved all these episodes so any changes they made or choices that differ shouldn't be considered "messing up" and more the author choosing or agreeing to change things. Like how the anime has new scenes that we never saw in the manga which actually added more to the overarching story (like how we actually got to see a flashback with Gob instead of him just being a silhouette like in the manga)

In the manga, it was very clear in no uncertain terms that there is a watchman logo on the face of this entity, even emphasized. What would the author get out of making this anime frame obscure it when it was obvious in the coinciding chapter? It’s okay to admit Bones dropped the ball with this panel. The episode was still good but they should have made it clearer.

I'm thinking that anyone who has the watchmen series can survive crossing the border. I think that's what Zodyl meant about the bird having the power of protection, because he added Amo's boots to the core. It also explains how Rudo survived crossing the border on the way down, and it's possible that the angels who cross the border frequently may have other parts of the watchmen series.

yeah no i'm ngl that's just basic theorizing from watching the episode lmao. the "power of protection" logically either has to be the boots in the core (ie. one of the watchman series infused in the trash beast) or something about rudo himself. and guessing that the watchman is some kind of guardian of the border...its name is literally watchman?? not entirely sure how the taking what's precious comes into play yet, because it would make sense in the sense of grounders losing their instruments going up, but there's apparently no consequences coming down? idk.

i think that was the test. it would take multiple times though. hypothetically, a trash beast with a watchman series core would protect everyone inside, but to see if it's proximity-based there would have to be other attempts with, like... rudo / anyone alone (with only one watchman series item), someone with multiple watchman items, someone with the full set, and any of those surrounded by people without "protective" watchman items.
