Jamaal Ellison

Requesting For All Mankind on Apple TV.

Conk

The Mighty Nein

bleach

Was that one dude Nathan Fillion?

Kisuke01

All I've got to say that this is the third time I've seen a horse die a brutal death.

Jason Marbach

Nydas is another player character from the 4-episode mini series Critical Role did called Calamity. Y’all saw some snippets from it in Vax’s visions when he became the Raven Queen’s champion in Vox Machina. It takes place like 1500 years before this, and you’ve already met another character from it - Xerxus, who was a devil in Vox Machina. He played a memorable card game with Pike. Suuuuuuper dope that they’re working those legendary characters into the world history. Fingers crossed they give us a calamity movie before too long!

Caleb

one thing i like about this show is that it does a good job telling us how scary trent is. bro could have escaped and not take that beating at anytime BUT didn’t. whatever he’s planning gotta be sinister to require that much restraint

Jason Marbach

I’m gonna need Yasha to save some fck for everybody else 😭

Jason Marbach

Nathan Fillion is the perfect casting for the Gentleman

ccadalin

Seeing The Gentlemen this week after just watching 2x33 of the campaign is wild timing

Jason Marbach

Also, that book (Tusk Love) originated in this campaign, but it first appeared (onscreen) in Vox Machina, the first time Vax and Pike visit Gilmore’s shop in season 1 😅. It’s also a real book now. You can buy it, lmao

Godrick

Big Pyke, not the lil one

Godrick

Nydas from this episode, and Zerxus from S3E4 Vox Machina are references to a group of characters that are eventually gonna get their own movie

Jadon

I literally was about to type is that Nathan fillion lol

PJ Rivera

Yo is that Nathan Fillon?

Jason Marbach

“Ickithon is diddy, bro” Lmaooooo, not Diddython 😭

Chanceg983

The Gentleman was my favorite NPC of the whole campaign. Nathan Fillion is perfect for him

Krype

Why did roshi and me say muscle mommy at the same time when she first appeared 😭

Jaelyn Mcgee

The Gentleman is a genasi, which in game turns means someone with genie/elemental blood. He's got water genie blood in him, hence the sweating

Chanceg983

LMAOO the M9 are not your everday heroes they got their people out and left the guards to die. The treasure flagship is also the same as the ship Essek's mom destroyed and is seen painting.

Ichris930

Caleb: I don't have friends You was in a three-way!

bleach

Orphan Maker is a hard ass name

Bria A.

(Hey Jason -- before I watch, purely because I'm curious, just lmk if they dropped the Gentleman plot twist already or if it's likely coming in a future season lol)

Krype

I hope they don’t set Caleb and Beau on some enemies to lovers

Jason Marbach

Definitely think that’ll be a couple seasons down the road

Dallas

If Lupa was to cosplay any character from this show, it could easily be the Gentlemen with how much he be sweating

Sam

I did not expect to get Lou as a guest character here! That was dope. And finally, here she is.

Bria A.

Without future spoilers, The Gentleman is what's called a genasi, which are an elemental-influenced race. Sometimes they're full-on genie-adjacent (although "genie" and similar things are usually monster NPC races and not playable ones), but sometimes it's hereditary or just an effect bestowed on a previously normal bloodline by a powerful creature at some point in the past -- likewise, a tiefling (Jester, Molly, etc.) is fiend influenced and aasimar are celestial influenced. A fire genasi might have hair that looks like flames, glowing veins, burn the ground when they walk, etc. The Gentleman is specifically a water genasi.

Bria A.

...happy to inform you that's a whole lesbian lmao

Bria A.

Sad, but definitely understandable

Jason Marbach

Watch the scene with a discerning eye and you’ll see some very small set up, though

Geese

This show is so good man. A few fan facts for you all: The Gentleman(blue criminal guy) is a water genasi(basically part water elemental or touched by the elemental plane of water) which is why he is always 'sweating'. Another fun fact for you all is the legendary pirate Nydis was a player character that appeared in another miniseries that critical role did which took place in the past of Exandria, kind of like Xerxes from Vox Machina. The last thing I wanna say is that I'm really glad ya'll are enjoying the show and that season 2 is already confirmed to be in the works.

Grelk

Bitch thinks she’s Guts 😭

BlondeSpud

I can't believe they made it cannon that the gentleman is always sweaty. A running gag through the campaign. Can't wait for the Rest of the campaign to come through. My favorite one they did. So glad you are all loving it.

Lilac Flute

Not me JUST now realizing The Assembly popped up in Season 3 of Vox Machina Episode 7 "Cloak and Dagger" with Anna Ripley's backstory XD

maseken

Yasha being Pike is so awesome, ALSO The Lou cameo for Nydas fuuuh so sick <3

Bria A.

Yep! A lot of past and future characters have very interesting overlap, it's sick (in a good way) how all of the campaigns set in Exandria connect

Narluga

the gentlemen remind of Lupa XD

Andrew

Yo I NEED to know what anime title Lupa was talkin bout in the intro

Ayanda Mpofu

I thought the same exact thing Roshi, that poor horse was just following orders 😂.

Vinne

BRO HER NAME IS ORPHANMAKER WHAT DID YOU THINK SHE'LL DO TO YOU

Bria A.

Two options: "My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's" or "My Gift Level 9999 Unlimited Gacha: Backstabbed in a Backwater Dungeon, I'm Out for Revenge!" Almost 100% certain it's the second one lmfao. Before you ask, I just looked for the most promoted anime on Prime right now with insane names. 😭

Adrian Locke

16:23 the name Lupa was looking for was Nathan Fillion aka Castle & the VA for Nathan Drake & Cayde-6

Jaelyn Mcgee

yeah I think they're definitely gonna do some build up to it with each of their interactions after this, because I genuinely can't remember how early on they meet in the game

Disoma

Strictly work-related

Praxis

And Lupa was kinda close with the Nolan North guess, since while Nathan Fillion didn’t voice Nathan Drake, he did play him in the Uncharted live action fan-film

Praxis

Lupa was kinda close with the Nolan North guess for the Gentleman, since while Nathan Fillion didn’t voice Nathan Drake, he did play him in the Uncharted live action fan-film

Adrian Locke

Ikithon getting Diddy comps is crazy LMAOOOO

Cerin Draco

Bro i dont know bout this story line... like its so cliche now... its still goin to be a fun ride but its goin down such a different path...

Jamaal Ellison

Damn Yasha i really hope this doesn't awaken something in me.

Unknown

Orphanmaker's ghost look like the Traveler to anyone else...? From Jester's illustrations. And I also think Molly is from another dimension and possessed "Lucian" s body. Cus i remember him saying "This looks familiar but doesn't look like mine" when addressing the dimensional rift they saw behind the Demon Toad. And apparently Lucian did a ritual that wiped out his team.

Jamaal Ellison

Yep I peeped that too but I could be wrong.

Jamaal Ellison

The Gentleman!!! How i met your mother reference.

Jjb

Not really sure where you this it was going but its fine to me also its based off the campaign

Gwyn

Lou Wilson voicing a pirate for critical role? Don't tease me with the possibility of seeing Fabian Seacaster properly animated.

StorySmith []

I haven’t watched the episode yet but I believe tusk Love was also an Easter egg in the vox machina show. I remember it being in Gilmore’s magic shop

Jamaal Ellison

I vaguely remember that but I'm sure i commented on that one too.

Jamaal Ellison

I'm not sure what you expected. Or what you want outta this campaign.

Jamaal Ellison

Alright question for the campaign and lore experts how is Caleb, able to use magic so freely now after last episode. He was fucking up left and right two episodes ago. Dropping shit taking forever to mix bug blood and mermaid tears together to fire one spell. Was all that horse shit or plot convenience?

Kyle Garrett

"How do you engineer all this"/"Maaggiiccc" - yall have no idea how CORRECT you are about that. It won't happen til much MUCH later but remember this moment cause uhhhhhh you are in for a TREAT later down the line [heavy spoilers, for those who know how EXCITED are you about it xDxD]

Jamaal Ellison

Also I'ma be honest Beau is my least favorite character so far as of right now. She's too much of a try hard. Is she a badass? Yes, does she back up her tuff talk? Yes, but she's also the physical embodiment of "got a problem? " The fuck are you looking at brah?!" I really want to see her Get humbled or tone it down a little. I read somewhere Marisha Ray was a big fan of Avatar Korra and Beau was based off her. But Korra never this bad.

Tamlin Lafleur

Not every spell recquires components, Dancing lights is a cantrip and so is firebolt wich is likely what caleb was suing here, weaker magic tht can be cast freely. he still uses components for spells like Alarm with the spider web.

Jamaal Ellison

Essek dumb as hell for trusting racist ass Firelord Ikithon he gave the opps their afterlife and they're gonna use it to commit mass genocide. He probably also believes Pennywise is his father.

Tamlin Lafleur

DnD spells: usually needs 1 or a combinations of Verbal,Somatic(gestures) or Material components so when u see Caleb make handsigns or someone speak a spell they are doing tht.

WillGlacier

brother WHAT clichés????

Nikki!!!

he was voicing his own character! have you watched exu calamity? its really good

Ronnie

It was his character in EXU Calamity! It was a prequel mini-series set about 800 years or so before TLoVM

WillGlacier

yeah pretty sure that's ON PURPOSE. She is clearly starting off harsh and is gonna turn into a more likeable character as the story goes on and she starts trusting her companions, aka character development

Kyuubi16

32:00 I love the essence of what was being conveyed went over Roshi's head. The king wasn't downplaying knowledge in general but the corrupted path and needlessly sacrifice of innocent people and starting of conflict for the sake of knowledge and perverse power.

KalkiTheEternity

Is Orphanmaker based off of Guts from Berserk? The two tone hair, the impractical sword that is more akin to a slab of steel, and even the mark on her neck.

KalkiTheEternity

Is Molly a reanimated corpse or something? This is the second or third time he has known how to do something on instinct but not understanding how or why he was able to do it (blood magic) and now he has seeming no recollection of a past relationship with someone. He also said he doesn’t like to talk about his past which might be a sly cover for him literally not knowing his past because he used to be someone else.

Jonathan Hart

I'm literally running from anyone with that devilish name. Nigga out here talking about "it's just a woman."😭😭

Jamaal Ellison

Character development? Yeah Sure I get that and Beau seemingly starts to mellow out towards the end of the episode. But to be fair it seemed like she'd started to mellow out last episode as well hence why I said seemingly.

howwlll

I think it's a mix of component based spellcasting vs. cantrips like it was said above and also a mental block. Caleb has been both scared and also very self-loathing/doubting since the incident with his family. It was probably a bit cathartic (in a messed up way lol) to burn up Owelia. I took it as the show demonstrating him re-connecting with his magic. I felt pretty similarly about Beau early on. Too much of a try-hard, very aggro, zero subtly with her anti-authority schtick. They probably won't do this arc in the show*, but they had a side adventure with a guest player during a mission for The Gentleman where her need to challenge authority and control lead to her blowing up at Caleb (who was asking for caution) and I hated her for it for a long time. She gets better, but was always one of my least favorite members. *I imagine they will skip this arc because it is not important for the over-arching campaign and they have already changed the first mission that they did for The Gentleman.

Joe hustle

Cantrip maybe basically free low level spells

Clinton the Bingethinker

Sweaty dude’s voiced by Nathan Fillion, I know that voice anywhere. Met him at a con once. Well kind of/sort of, he touched me on the shoulder and said “excuse me buddy” and I was like “oh sorry—” I recognized him as he walked past me.

Devialous

Lucien, Nonagon, Molly had a whole another life.

Krype

Except gay?

Delinda Arts

Fjord: *sigh* Uk: nigga you better get out there make that money!

Lik-Sama

Roshi with the Speed emote when he saw the nosebleed killed me 😂😂😂😂

Josue Dominguez

It could be perceived that way, but from my understanding Ashley Johnson created Yasha with 2 things in mind. A) she wanted to play a barbarian because her best friend at the table Travis played one in campaign one and B) she had a really busy schedule with acting and VA so she wanted someone rather quite.

Polygon

The entire Nydas Okiro dungeon, as well as the bits with Yasha, and Trent and Essek, are original to the show, it didn't happen in the campaign! Nydas is actually another player character created by Lou Wilson (he also voiced him in the ep too) for one of the shorter mini adventure series they did that's set waaaayyyy in the past, so it's cool to see him worked into the show retroactively. They did the same for Zerxus, the devil guy that Pike played cards with in the last season of TLoVM. Zerxus was also a player character in that same mini-series, played by Luis Carazzo.

Polygon

Yasha was actually travelling WITH Molly and the carnival in the original game, but her player, Ashley Johnson, was regularly absent from the game because she had to leave to film the TV show Blindspot. As a result, Yasha was constantly leaving the party and then randomly showing up again whenever Ashley was in town. Looks like they've changed her story a bit to avoid that, and keep things natural. Also, Yasha is a Barbarian, and their party role is usually tank/DPS. They're making Yasha look REALLY cool and badass for the show, but in game, Yasha was actually incredibly underwhelming almost until the very end of the game. Ashley rolled pretty terribly for stats, and she also made some questionable choices for feats/abilities to the point where Matt gave her a few gimmies in the form of magic items, so she wouldn't be useless as the party tank.

Michael Kaiser

Very very very good this show hasn’t disappointed me

Gizmo

Jester called Caleb squishy because Caleb has the lowest hp out of the party by far

James Small

That whole gag of Nott taking a dart to the ass made me laugh out loud from how unexpected it was. The cut to the super detailed shot of her getting healed was like something out of Spongebob or Ren & Stimpy lmao

Vinne

Im not dealing with anyone who looks like Kratos' hypothetical daughter fr 😭

ViralCorgi

I was thinking that Molly IS the possession and doesn't realize it himself. That he's an entity that came from another dimension and took over the body of "Lucian" through the ritual which is why his memories are so warped.

Bria A.

I feel like saying Yasha was "underwhelming" and "useless" is doing her a major disservice. Sure, Ashley had some really bad rolls at times, but she also had plenty of badass combat moments.

Bria A.

Nah. Without giving too much away, the mark on her neck isn't even part of her actual character design. Also, much moreso than Vox Machina, all of these characters go through multiple appearance changes across the duration of the story, so assuming they do the same in the show, she doesn't even really look the same by the end.

Bria A.

Ayo Jamaal, something fun for you: look at the very first frame of the Gentleman's introduction and go back and look at the very first frame of someone else's. Same lighting and composition lmao

Jamaal Ellison

Forgive me I might need help with this one what am I looking for?

kai. 🩶

bro got them texas roadhouse yams

Oliverson

Ashley was always the weakest of the cast on both campaigns (player wise not character). I feel like she didn't get comfortable playing to the full extent till Fearne.

Jaime Ruiz

what's crazy is that Beau is less annoying in the show.

Antonio

I think bro is a demon and he’s from hell,I think he’s basically hell boy🤷🏾‍♂️

Raymond Terry

Ah, it's Nolan North. No wonder she said, "Tomb Raider, no offense" to him.

Co

Roshi calling that goblin booty "robust" was not on my bingo card

I VisiBomb I

in retrospective its kinda beyond me why didn't Trent wanna become a lich, he'd fit the role like a hand to a glove.

Antionette.SP

Extra info: The Giants robots are called "The TaxMen" The Gentleman is a water genasi (half water genie) that why he is always wet

Paskowitz

Btw the voice of the Gentleman is Nathan Fillion. Thats why he sounds so familiar

rrrebo

"Time to take her out back." Roshi really playin' the Old Yeller card on Mom?!? Damn.

Nico

Beau’s a monk alright. Didn’t need to worry about a skill check or using grease to turn the dragon lights

Nico

That pirate stole some of the Steel Watch! A true madman
