Man what a beaitiful episode...the driving scenes were so good

Jamaal Ellison

Requesting For All Mankind on Apple TV.

bleach

The driving scenes were amazing

Fini Reus

I see Pluribus -> Instant click

YungZeus

That tree is something out of the new predator movie. Shit should not exist.

J Man

Manousos the GOAT. He wants to save the world!

Shockzz1234

One of your favourite episodes and internet was shitting on it for being too slow smh. I agree with you btw, i liked this ep.

J Man

It's the end of the world, and we know it! And I feel [Invincible title card]!!!

Sean Harding

I'm thinking she's singing to herself out loud so she can hear a human voice 🥺

MBA

Would you believe me if I said people were hating on this episode lol

Honored one

Here, before all the hive lovers flood this chat, weirdos!

Ernie

Even thou it was mostly "travel" throughout the episode, Vince Gilligan and his team is doing so much with so little, if u can take two characters and just have them do mundane stuff and it's riveting! U definitely getting your flowers for that.

KalkiTheEternity

Sheera gassin' it. Called this nigga special ops because he hiking through the woods LMAO.

Jigga Man

The hive has learned to incorporate emotional manipulation

Richard Strong

God forbid there's nuance and depth of writing to a Vince Gilligan show.

Ernie

I get it's morally wrong to use another persons body.... But if i'm trecking from Paraguay to Albuquerque trying to find restoration and salvation for everyone on planet earth, and i'm not getting ANY help. i think I'm entitled to a backrub and a handjob, from a civilian i find on the road.... At that point u would be selfish to not show gratitude to the person who saved the world.

Honored one

Oh hi hive lover how you doing?

kingBD

Justice for Manousos😂 dude has way more willpower and conviction than a lot of people cause bare minimum im asking for food and transportation

MrOuijaII

I really enjoyed this episode as well, I feel like this is a litmus test for some people when it comes to how much you may enjoy this kind of storytelling. Sort of like the ‘Fly’ episode of Breaking Bad, which was also divisive. The episode really captured the loneliness and isolation of these two characters and the ending was a great release, for better or worse for worse. I’m actually excited on how these characters are going to be after these two events, especially Carol.

Mike A

yeah i really liked this episode. I don't necessarily think her roadtrip was meant to focus on things made by individuals. It was more of a situation where now that the pressure of being turned against her will is off the table, what does she do with her life. She had a mission to save the world, she was all gassed up about finding out all that info on the Hive to find out the other Survivors didn't give a damn and moreso didn't want to even talk to her. She's got nothing left so she just messes around until she can't take the isolation anymore. It's gonna be wild for Manousos to almost die making his way to Carol and when he pulls up he sees that she's got a new girlfriend lol

Richard Strong

Vince Gilligan equated the hive leaving Carol alone like someone leaving an abusive family alone. They love them but they keep on hurting them. What people seem to overlook is that Carol's own behaviour isolated her from the other immune, but yet seemingly she never took Koumba up on his offer to phone him whenever she wanted. Literally the only one of them who will talk to her. She was so locked in on her independent loner identity that she almost took a firework to the face before she realised she did actually need people. Someone like her requires people to push against to use as outlets for her own trauma. Without that she can’t let off the pressure and it grows until those behavioural patterns collapse on themselves. It was a cruel tactic from the hive but likely the only one available to them. The only other options were to entirely leave her alone without any possibility of their return or to stay and let Carol shout at them until they died. This at least allows for the possibility of her learning how to become happier.

Nudy Land

Definitely glad to have this show around but the one piece pacing hitting hard

Richard Strong

They're comprised of all the people in the world. Of course they know how to manipulate emotions.

Maleny

Staring at a firework about to blow your head off is some severely advanced depression.

Jigga Man

"Incorporate"... they're avert to causing harm including emotional. Of course the know how.

Ernie

"I'm leaving here with something"

Richard Strong

Manousos is a moral absolutist and those tend to not be compatible with communities because of their inability to comprise or be flexible in their understanding. So him being the last to be found doesn't surprise me. The problem is that what he considers immoral is entirely dependent on his judgement, with there now being no one to hold any kind of authority over him. What happens to the people he considers immoral? Likely anything he wants, and he’ll consider it just and righteous. A confirmation of his moral code. He denounces the hive without knowing anything about them. To the point where he thinks they’re not them. Would he be willing to kill them? Given he was primed to killed one with his machete I imagine so. What happens when he encounters Carol with Zosia? Or sees that Carol steals at will from the new world? For a man that abhors theft, probably nothing good.

Richard Strong

Also, who the hell is this guy? Machete, maps, money stashed away. An incredible amount of willpower and an extreme moral code? That man has a history.

Ginger Dwarf

Fun fact, Some people spoiled the "Come back" message for themselves by going to google earth and seeing where Carols house was.

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

imo this feels like a whole lot to put on a guy who has very much encountered and interacted with the hive several times and simply tried to disengage and ignore them - also the hive arent really 'them' by theyre own admission, theyre simply 'we'

Spencer

Not Special Ops, but he's clearly competent at this stuff.

Spencer

Yeah like, imagine the fucking evolution required to grow literal spikes out of the trunk of a tree.

moné

it just dawned on me watching this episode a second time that she listens to the whole recording every time because it's the only other voice she can hear talking to and acknowledging her after the hive left

Richard Strong

Yeah, that's the point. He disengages and ignores them. He asks nothing and knows nothing. His stance is based on nothing but his own assumptions. What does he think he's saving the world from? You can't start if you don't even know what you're dealing with. At least Carol had the decency to ask what was happening right away. It is also worth noting he is the inverse of her: he's quiet, disciplined and internally rageful (at injustice). Carol is messy, chaotic, and screams at people to death. He abhors theft and Carol steals anything she likes, including the car in her driveway and artwork in her house. He won't even take dog food without feeling bad about it, but she'll phone up the hive to demand ice cold drinks. They could either be the best of friends or he could become a big problem for her. Especially as it relates to her burgeoning friendship with Zosia.

Spencer

I'm so happy you guys are loving this series, there seems to be a pretty loud segment of the audience that thinks this is all boring and "filler" - I say welcome to Vince Gilligan!

Gorrr

It was a boring episode buttttttttt……….We learned this guy is just as stubborn as carol

windyMelon

The Darien Gap is the only land bridge from South America to North America. It's truly is fucked up as they said it was. You just don't cross it in normal circumstances, let alone when the world has ended. Although in normal times you have everything they mentioned, plus militia and gangs either side of it that might fuck you up

Ed

I get the complaints but I enjoy the world Vince Gilligan's built. So I don't mind slow burns like this.

KalkiTheEternity

No, he’s not. He siphoned gas and knew how to use a map. If that’s the threshold for competency then humanity is doomed.

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

im inclined to disagree - its based on a lot more than simple assumptions because he has also observed the hive and the way its changed people, including his own mother, and he seems to have some semblance of whats going on still when he speaks with them, also likely cuz the hive has tried to explain many times even in his isolation. my main point tho is just that its kinda weird imo to imply hes so prone to violence and can justify anything using his own personal moral code when the show hasnt really depicted that so far i do agree it will be intresting to see the ways in which him and carol may or may not clash tho, and i do imagine zosia would be a point of contention

Samoan Thor

Manousos's episode <3 what a beautiful episode man

Pop n Lock

This show is so good. Im so sick of how everyone's attention span has been so ruined that half the internet acts like toddlers when they don't get to watch an entire TV show in one sitting anymore. The public's media and art literacy is maybe the lowest it's been in human history at this point. This show is fantastic and people can't even appreciate it because they need instant gratification everywhere in their life.

Pop n Lock

this isn't even one piece pacing... It's just normal storytelling pacing. Binging and tiktok has broken people's brains into thinking everything has to be told and shown to you IMMEDIATELY.

Richard Strong

Are you sure? Zosia said he refuses contact, and his mother said he must be so confused. He also had no idea there were 12 other survivours. I can only go off what I see in the show. And his mother being a bitch means little as that's all he knows of her. If you remove the psychological basis for hate then why would a person be a bitch? It has a cause and isn't a person's core identity. It is like saying Carol was born depressed and angry, when really she was made into that by her experiences at the hands of others. But Carol loved Helen and she loved her back so that's not entirely who she was.

GrandNubian

Manousos is going to be SO DISAPPOINTED in Carol when he learns how dependent she is on The Others for everything, including companionship.

GrandNubian

way MORE stubborn. Carol literally depends on The Others for every aspect of her life while Manousos refuses even the smallest amount of aid from them

Richard Strong

"hes so prone to violence" He was ready to pull a machete on the guy in the truck. So it is clear he sees them as a physical threat. Have we seen any reason for him to think that? I mean actually and not what he might assume has happened. And burning the car after making his statement is as clear a threat as anything I've seen. He deems them to be inherently immoral and would destroy his own belongings than let them have it. Arson even of your own belongings is technically a crime so his moral code isn't all encompassing, just to what he sees as moral and justifiable. But justifying anything is a general statement on moral absolutists. Not him specifically. But the above covers why he concerns me.

Nudy Land

Brother I don’t even have tik tok…… my problem is the un rewarding conclusions so far snd the boring ass charecters. My gripe is that if you’re gonna do slow pacing, have good bread crumbs to keep the audience interested. This clearly isn’t here

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

he refuses contact and yet weve seen in this episode and the episodes prior that the hive has consistently tried to initiate contact regardless - his mother saying he must be so confused is a natural conversation starter in trying to further explain the situation or get him to open up, but that doesnt mean he knows nothing. at the very least he knows what his eyes can plainly observe and the fact that people are not as they were. the implication seems to be that him and his mother had a very contentious relationship prior to the hive mind, and what would you think if the world turned upside down and suddenly someone u never got along with is acting entirely unlike themselves and incredibly friendly? the hive is not themselves, and its plain to observe in every interaction. u can also tell by his talk with them in the forest that both he and the hive are aware of the truth in what hes saying

GrandNubian

27:00 Sheera is correct -- Manousos was the one living in Panama who they "discovered" later

Richard Strong

Very little of what you just said is based on observable evidence in the show. I see this from a lot of people commenting on the show. It is hard to discuss anything when the foundation of a person's argument is subjective interpretation or a straight up invention (in some cases). I liked him from 2 of his episodes. But this one gives me pause. If the next one shows him in a better light then fine. I'm not stuck disliking or liking him, but I do reserve the right to change my opinion based on what I see in the show.

Magnis

this show coming out in the middle of this ai nonsense couldnt have been better timed

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

he was ready in case he threatened him but he didnt because the man didnt?? thats a very normal and defensive reaction to not only an alien entity approaching u but even a simple stranger pulling up alongside u when u alone on the street and dont know what their intentions could be. having ur hand ready near a weapon in case things go bad is not the same as pulling and actively threatening someone with it. also the car burning didnt even feel like a threat to me, but very much a statement of 'u cant give what isnt urs, and u cant take whats mine' especially because he just continued on peacefully after that and made no actual move to harm or threaten anyone? and who cares if its a crime? the law is not and has never been equal to morality regardless, and the car burning hurt no one. 'just to what he sees as moral and justifiable' is just what a normal personal moral code is...

Richard Strong

I don't agree at all and I can see this exchange is going nowhere. What I have noticed is that the people that see no issue with him at all nearly always see the hive as alien or alien invaders. Like there's no nuance at all in it, and they seem to want a morally righteous hero to kick alien ass and save the day. Like it's a sci-fi action movie or something. Each to their own but I like characterisation in shows like this to be richer than that.

Xemnas27

People need to understand there’s nothing wrong with slow episodes where “nothing happens”. I like that this show takes it’s time to settle in the scenes and is very atmospheric with makes sense considering the world is literally gone lmao

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

what part of that isnt observable within the show? u could say him and his mother having a contentious relationship prior is just inference (though what would be the point of the 'my mother was a bitch' line then?) but what else? and your own argument is also just subjective interpretation? i like him so far, but i mean yeah, its normal to change ones opinions throughout a show

GrandNubian

why continue watching it if the experience is so unsatisfying for you?

Richard Strong

All of your subjective interpretations and assumptions aren't observable. Like: "u can also tell by his talk with them in the forest that both he and the hive are aware of the truth in what hes saying " How is that observable and not just what you think is true? I can't refute that because it isn't based on anything but your subjective interpretation. Also, if they believed they were in fact the collective mind of billions of humans then in their estimation everything they had would be theirs anyway. There wouldn't be a chance of them thinking anything they have is stolen. So no I don't think they were aware of any truth in what he's saying.

Ben Ben Tennyson

I can’t wait for the show to dive into exactly how the hive mind works. Like whether it’s people still have individual consciousness but they’re just connected to an overarching consciousness or if everyone’s consciousness got mixed together into a consciousness soup. If it’s the latter then there’s really no way to reverse it because how would you separate each consciousness and make sure it goes back to the body it was meant to be in originally

GrandNubian

they are merely protecting themselves from Carol who has shown that she is capable of placing their lives at risk to get what she wants. that's not emotional manipulation -- it's self-preservation. By bringing Zosia back, they are again putting themselves at risk while gaining nothing in return.

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

its fine to have differing opinions but i also never said i see no issue with him at all, only that in my opinion hes come across as pretty nonviolent and its a bit strange for one to run with the worst possible interpretation of a characters actions that we just met when hes tried to actively avoid coming into contact and conflict with the hive. also i dont know whether the hive are aliens or some kind of virus or invasive species or what - i meant 'alien' in the sense of being foreign. and i also like nuance and deeper characterization of characters, but it seems uve drawn ur own subjective interpretation of me as well, regardless of how true it is...which is again normal, but strange to imply as fact

Nudy Land

Because I have the capacity to understand that some shows take a while to get better and I’m willing to give the guy who made breaking bad a chance

Richard Strong

You live a sheltered life if you can't read that man as being a potential problem. Certainly so if you can't even see how it applies to his strict moral code, hatred of the hive, and the reality that it will absolutely clash with Carol's new friendship with Zosia and her own willingness to do things that he finds immoral. They are clearly setting it up for an ideological conflict.

I VisiBomb I

Msus is like "STEALING BAD" yet the hive doesn't kill anything, arguably the worst type of stealing there is, the stealing of life, they don't partake in it, while he does as if its nothing.

LaTesha

I figured she said im sorry or something to convince them to come back. But she literally put come back

PJ Rivera

Vince giligan is a genius

Jigga Man

They would stay away indefinitely if it's entirely for self preservation. They starved her of connection to the point that she will now be grateful for their presence. Again, if the entire goal is self preservation then they'd just stay away from her even if she asked them to come back.

Samsaknight X

Or maybe ppl just want the story to progress. The whole attention span argument is tired and ridiculous. I probably have a better attention span than u, but it was boring. Silo is a good example of a show that slowly progresses, but it still gives u enough to keep coming back. Not everyone just wants “instant gratification”

Samsaknight X

She had to listen for the beep lol, have u ever left a voicemail?

Youssef Loubnan

33:40 oh my god I literaly screamed at my laptop screen with you guys

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

'you live a sheltered life' is certainly an interesting conclusion to draw - especially considering one could argue the same for u in thinking its so strange for him to so much as pop the button of the sheath of his weapon when someone approaches him alone on the road, not even keeping his hand on said weapon mind u. i also literally agreed and stated from the beginning that it was likely to cause issues with carol and that itd be interesting to see how that conflict played out so im not sure what ur talking about

Shiroja

Plants are wild there's also a tree that's fruits are basically hand grenades.

Butler

33:33 how did lupa know 😭😭

cornett0

no way carol said "do better next time" 😂😂😂

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

i think its conciousness soup since theyve said things that seem to imply they dont really identify as individuals anymore - but i dont think that means its impossible! id imagine the same consciousness would naturally reside within its home body if they somehow figured out a way to sever the psychic link

Gwyn

12:00 Vince Gilligan saving Roshi from the copyright strikes with Carol's singing lol

Anon7524

This show is really focusing on the spectrum of acceptance vs denial of the hive in a radical way and a non-radical way. Carol to me is in normal denial (understands the hive but refuses to accept it, despite using it and actively trying to change them back), Diabatè is in radical acceptance (take full advantage of the hive), Manousos is in radical denial (refuses to interact with the hive and goes overboard in his attempt to separate), while the rest of the survivors including Lakshmi are in normal acceptance (they understand the hive is here to stay and chose to have their families still around in some fashion)

Ben Ben Tennyson

Yeah I think you’re right with the soup, but hopefully there is a way for each consciousness to return when that link is severed probably by the radio frequency that Manusos found

Alexis Sullivan

To me this proves what I said in the episode when they left Albuquerque......she hurt their feelings. From their perspective, they've been nothing but nice to her, waiting on her hand and foot when she would allow it, they risked Zosia's body by protecting her from the grenade blast and she responded by drugging them and trying to force them to give up info that would end them. It had nothing to do with feeling like she was dangerous or she might snatch one of them again, if that was the case they would've kept talking to her over the phone but they didnt even wanna talk directly to her on the phone. That's hurt feelings! If they truly thought she was dangerous, they also would've left after the 1st or 2nd time she cussed them out and caused those seizures that killed millions but they didn't. They left and cut off all direct communication cuz their feelings were hurt, it was that simple. That's what people do when their feelings are hurt, they give you the silent treatment. They wanted her to show some kind of remorse or apologize for what she did (whether you think she should apologize or feel sorry is irrelevant, thats what THEY wanted) which is what Freaky Man said last episode, he told her that they wanted a change of heart which further points to it just boiling down to hurt feelings

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

ooo yes, i totally forgot about the radio frequency lk! will def be intresting to see how itll come into play or if it could truly disrupt their connection somehow

I VisiBomb I

also I find it extremely ironic how Carol was essentially celebrating "independence day" and moments later she asked for Zosia back, pretty much giving up her independence.

Dark Shogun

I don't know. I think parts of their consciousness is mixed but very specific information has to be pulled from the hive. I think that's why they pause sometimes before they answer a question, even ones that aren't about how to reverse the hive mind. i honestly don't think the human brain could hold the information from 7+ billion other humans.

Honored one

Tbf he did wayyy more than that

Ernie

The prideful and stubbornness is kinda dumb.. U wanna save the world but u would have died in the forrest alone.... why not take the trip to Carol atleast! Kinda reminds me of not wanting to take a life because it's not right to kill, but the person is literally Hitler...

Honored one

She literally did not give up her independence. If that was true she would have consented to them getting her DNA

I VisiBomb I

you're talking about individuality. independence is different. its basically when you rely on someone else.

Chanceg983

This episode was great. The duality of Carol and Manousos is genius. I disagree with people saying Carol is dependent on the Hive. She still has to live her life, which the Hive made difficult (ie. taking food, shutting off power, and removing other people), she wouldn't ask the Hive for help if there was any other way to get what she wants. She definitely not going to hunt for her food or siphon gas from cars if she never had to do that before. She's depressed now imagine if she had to do what Manousos was trying to achieve LMAO

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

i can def see what u mean with the others but i would argue that lakshmi is very much denial as well, just in a different sense - she refuses to acknowledge that her son is not just her son anymore, but the culmination of billions of peoples conciousness and therefore no longer simply a little boy. in terms of a different form of acceptance there is maybe the other survivor girl though - i dont remember her name but the one with the aunt and cousin who is intrested in joining the hive

moné

yes i have so i know you can skip them lol

Diangilo

I hope the twist is that the hivemind aren't malicious at all, just neutral being that exist not good nor bad. Time and time again they've proven that they can be trusted, I hope our suspicions are false.

JavonR92

This episode, just like the entire series so far, is beautifully shot!!

Xylophage

carol was so mentally broken from being left alone for so long that she didn't flinch or move at all when that firework shot past her ear. I def think sheera is right, she knew she had to call them back because that is blatant suicidal behavior and she needed some social interaction to snap herself out of it.

Seibahhh

pacing slower than the snail that still didnt catch me

Jamaal Ellison

Lupa interacting with fans @18:06. Roshi interacting with fans @21:39

PersonaFyde

They wouldn’t know which ticket was the winner, manufacturers wouldn’t be aware of that, so the hive wouldn’t either.

PetersThimble

I genuinely feel like some people just shouldn't watch this show. This episode was beautifully shot and showed the extent of loneliness on both ends with Carol and Manousos. If you find it boring, stop watching. Vince is literally known for slow paced shows so it just feels like people are actively looking to dislike the show bc there isnt a gun lmao

Grelk

TRUE all life is BAD because it requires killing other lifeforms in some way

Manny

27:00 Yes Roshi, He was the one they were talking about

Jamaal Ellison

Alright so how mad will y'all be when Carol and Zosia inevitably starts fucking?

Conk

I'll be mad cause they wont show it happening

Delinda Arts

Bro Roshi yelling “that shit wet!” midst the yelling was so fucking funny lmao I replayed that shit too many times lmao 33:37

Conk

11:35 Goon material received

Dyastro123

Well, I mean....butterfly effect.......so no, don't kill baby or even grown up Hitler before his time. You might cause something WORSE

Uly A O

This is such amazing ep. The build up on how their mentality carried them through the ep in different ways.

Smitty

That piano is worth hundreds of thousands of dollars not just 7

Batison

Phenomenal episode, definitely my favorite so far

PersonaFyde

I mean, it’s pretty much the same as a cactus, no?

Devin reid

I can tell you guys from experience working in a hospital this past 4th of July someone taking a firework mortar to the face will kill you stay safe

Sam

If the hive cares so much about human lives that they force the hive mind on them and are willing to deal with the indirect loss of human lives, why do they not react when carol starts acting suicidal? Even if they’e in need of “space”, shouldn’t they prioritise her mental health? Something about them feels contradictory

R-Jay

why didn't he disarm the organic sonic the hedgehog spike traps?

izk

"Nada... en este planeta es de ustedes. Nada. No pueden darme nada, porque todo lo que ustedes tienen es robado. Ustedes... no pertenecen acá." in this context, is one of the hardest lines i've heard

Carlos

Bro was on that Inigo Montoya time (RIP Rob Reiner) It's gonna be so fascinating when they finally link up.

lackingnames

bro what? Butterfly effect... you gotta exist in fiction a bit less and look at the real world.

lackingnames

Your analysis of Manousos is literally 90% guesswork and what he "might" do, based on literally nothing.

Gilthwixt

The Darien Gap is a really fascinating place if y'all have never heard about it before. People die every year trying to cross on their way to the US, but if you thought the show made it look bad, that doesn't even include the cartels and human traffickers that would be there if it weren't for the aliens.

Gilthwixt

Also I guess the crew doesn't know who Georgia O'Keefe is, because I immediately clocked why Carol was singing "Georgia" and why the paintings looked the way they did 🤣She's famous for painting flowers that look like coochie, you weren't wrong for recognizing that. Bit of a cliche to make Carol a huge fan but stereotypes exist for a reason I guess.

Jeremiah Neely

He's got a point though. Every action has a consequence. Whose to say the assassination of Hitler wouldn't lead to the rise of someone else that's far worse take his place, and the axis powers end up winning WWII?

A L

Yep, and another reference to Breaking Bad. That's the museum that Jane wanted to take Jesse to.

A L

The same people who complain about Better Call Saul's first season being too slow.

A L

Have you seen The Expanse? I'd rather they watch that first.

Alvin Ng'ang'a

Manousos is an idiot bro. I get having your pride but you're one of two people who want to bring humanity back and you risk your life and the lives of billions by going into the 3rd circle of hell instead of accepting help from the aliens. I want them to fix things too but you have to be willing to do anything to make that happen.

fatJahorse

For real, man. Manousos is so damn stubborn, even more than Carol. It's gonna be interesting to see them interact since even though Carol hates the Hive, she at least makes them do things. Sounds like it's gonna be a point of conflict between them when they meet.

fatJahorse

Imagine if he asked the Hive to help him get to Carol, and then Carol would have actually had someone to talk to instead of succumbing to the loneliness 😭

Ayanda Mpofu

I have a love/hate relationship with Manousos. I respect him but i also want him to adapt, it's so frustrating.

Paden Snell

Its wild i never knew that there was a gap of rainforest without any sort of drivable road splitting the americas. I always just assumed it was possible to drive all the way through. I couldn't believe it when this episode made me check that.

Paden Snell

They won't pick an apple even though it means they will all starve to death. Hivemind is not a rational being.

Hybrid10Prime

We are well, Honoured One. Is there something we can help you with?

Paden Snell

The "you cant give me anything because everything you have is stolen" is one of the hardest lines of dialog in any show ever. This is peak television. If you cant f with it. You dont know what's good.

Richard Strong

She had someone to talk to. She could have phoned Koumba at any time. She chose not to.

Richard Strong

What aliens? People keep saying this and it is firmly stated that they aren't aliens. Besides, evil aliens is not interesting. It's is far more interesting of a story if they are exactly what they say they are.

Richard Strong

Are they aware she is acting suicidal? She only displays that once and immediately after realises she can't trust herself anymore, so calls them back. They know she has mental health problems because they have all of Helen's memories. But she won't accept help from them, and will actively try to hurt them. A person has to want help first.

Richard Strong

It is self-awareness. It can reach a state where you don't want to die but won't avoid it if the chance occurs. That she didn't die made her realise how much she wanted to live.

Richard Strong

Vince Gilligan stated it was like dealing with an abusive family member. They love her but she keeps hurting them so they stay away and hope they change their ways. Their feelings were absolutely hurt but they still care about her but they're not willing to die at her hands for it.

Richard Strong

It is clearly not a "consciousness soup". People aren't paying attention if they think that and quite honestly it is getting a bit tiresome. Then only reason people don't know directly is because Carol never bothers to ask so we're left to see it through her POV, and to her they're not themselves. But again, she refuses to ask what it’s like. But… They refer to individual minds through the series, with Zosia referring to the water bottling plant guy saying the water is safe (so not past tense). Zosia herself displays specific and isolated personality traits (her "fun facts" is something she only does). The Peruvian girl, who had asked them what it was like, said she'd be herself but shared. And she thought it sounded wonderful, and not scary. They can also separate Helen's thoughts and memories showing they can identify individual minds whether they're active or archived. So minds aren’t lost in a consciousness soup. They also refer to themselves as "we" and "us". Not a singular global "I". And when Carol asked what they thought of her books they responded "that made a lot of us tingle". What we have with this IMHO is a hive mind comprised of individual minds with no ownership over thoughts and memories. So their minds aren’t limited to the confines of their brains, but instead have expanded across all of humanity. So one person’s thoughts can be multiple people’s thoughts simultaneously but they still retain their own. So they’re themselves but also the entire world at the same time. I look forward to repeating this a million times before this show is done.

Christian R Lewis-Batista

How do you guys still not understand that the Hive mind has agency? They literally showed us they do.

Stale Breast Milk

25:00 FAX Roshi, nigga I am not built for that survival lifestyle 😭. Technology is too convenient and my life has been too comfortable

chris

you good?

Clinton the Bingethinker

Dude’s playthrough set to Hardcore Mode—fun to do for a game like New Vegas, but irl? Na…hard pass.

RYC

adapt to what, i dont follow, apologies

Alex Cook

It's worth noting that at any point the Hive could have mentioned to Carol that another survivor was on their way to come meet her. They chose not to. I think they're intentionally encouraging her sense of isolation to try to Stockholm Syndrome her into apologizing and accepting them.

Alex Cook

Aliens is a convenient shorthand, and even in the show Carol keeps using the phrase "alien virus". We're well aware that they're humans.

camille

This is my first time watching something from this Vince guy. Are all of his shows slow burns like this?

Zanni

Y'all should listen to Vince Gilligan's Pluribus podcast after this.

Tre

Its wraps for him since he dont know about the consent terms for not infecting him SMH they gonna get a real one

Alex

Better Call Saul yes, Breaking Bad no.

GrandNubian

The Others can’t extract stem cells without consent and he won’t give consent while conscious and cannot give consent while unconscious. So, how can they turn him?

GrandNubian

Why would they do that when she has made it clear she wants no contact with them unless she needs something?

Tre

Maybe not necessarily turn him i could obviously be wrong on that part but they are 100% going to give him treatment without his consent so they could take it upon themselves to extract his stem cells during that process without it either which would make this kind of a plot hole

GrandNubian

Also, telling her that Manousos is on his way doesn’t get him there any quicker - she’d still be alone the same amount of time and would have the same degree of isolation.

bron1999

why would you want him to adapt?? he's the realest nigga in history for what hes doing

Ekko08

WHAT

Shiroja

Yeah I don't remember everything about it but it's called the sand box tree. Its trunk is also covered in spikes but not as long as that tree in the episode. If you look it up you should be able to find videos of the fruits exploding to spread the seeds of the trees. Also another name for the tree is the dynamite tree.

Joni

yo shoutout to my man bcuz if u r gonna be stubborn about not using their help, u gotta go to his level of rejection. I think it shows how Carol is somewhat of a hypocrite cuz she's been rejecting them the whole time but was using their help in doing so

Sam

But “saving lives” being a priority is their own logic no? They won’t even let people get a little dehydrated, so how come they’re ok with treating carol like that?

Sam

I mean they probably know everything about human behaviour since they’ve inhabited every psychologist and every mentally ill person ever? They don’t even isolate you in jail for too long by yourself

KiRissa

Lol fr like give me SOMETHING man 😂

john segun doe

That MF annoying as shit, i… get it but this shit hard & tedious to watch with his stubborn ass lmao. Every other scene im like V.G pack this mofo up 💀

Arz.09

I’d say so slow but good

Arz.09

He has no evidence like carol does, that they can’t infect him without permission etc. He’s doing what most smart people would with the information he has provided

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

ive seen a bunch of people shipping them but i hope it doesnt happen tbh :// at least not without a significant timeskip and more buildup + zosia breaking from the hive...carols wife had literally just died in all the time theyd spent together prior, and its only just now been a bit over a month since her passing + itd be pretty hypocritical given her disagreement with koumba over the hives ability to consent

Jamaal Ellison

All these caveats to justify. She could never break away from the Hivemind unless they're cured. I think the show is moving in the direction of shipping them together. My question is if that happens will all the people who hate the freaky French guy Diabatè keep the same energy for Carol or will concessions be made for Rule "8" because it's two women. I think the show was saying that people seek companionship, no matter the circumstances.

KingMarkoIII

It wouldn’t though. Because then saving his life when he’s about to die is different from the action of converting him. By their nature they can’t hurt them or let them get hurt knowingly. There still following their own rules

Alvin Ng'ang'a

The evidence is that they haven't forced it onto him yet. A smart person would use deductive reasoning. There's more of them than you, if they wanted to turn you it would be far easier to just force it onto you. Plus they gave him the same "evidence"they gave Carol which is just an explanation of what happened. Remember they gave all the survivors the same speech and they also passed on her tapes. He more than likely knows he's safe, he's just giving them the finger cause he hates them more than he cares about himself.

Helpy

Adapt meaning throw away his morals for convenience? No

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

not justify sm as i personally wouldnt care much for the relationship to head in that direction otherwise, but it does seem that the storyline is likely in favor of them getting together at some point

john segun doe

Lol exactly, your second point is why i sometimes hate Shonen logic. Like i get its meant to teach young folk (kids) finding another way is always better BUT THAT AINT REALITY. So its sort of cool on that medium but when I see it in a live action (besides Superman tbh) its my pet peeve. Cuz in Irl, where reality ACTUALLY occurs that case of taking the life is the only choice you got and i’d argue and posture its the moral or even righteous thing to do. For surely the sacrifice of one evil human PALES in the comparison of thousands of innocents dying. Its a no brainer frfr

Alex Cook

Sometimes all you need is to know there's light at the end of the tunnel. As far as Carol knows, she is going to be alone for the rest of her life if she doesn't ask the Hive to come back.

Pop n Lock

im pretty sure the point is to show that Carol is basically a tourist in this lifestyle but pretends not to be. This dude is about that life man

Alex Cook

We don't know for sure that he ever got that speech. He spent the first two weeks holed up and avoiding all contact with them.

Alvin Ng'ang'a

We can infer that he did though. He doesn't respond to them but they talk to him all the time. You really thing they would go out of their way to get Carol to understand but not him? Then how would he know who they were from his speech before burning the car? Still, the point is that if they meant him direct harm there are far more straightforward ways to go about it.

Voidking

yall dont know trees hate each other, theres a tree out there that shoots lightning through its roots when its struck in a storm hell their are plants that just explode to get seeds out everywhere

Ron H

gimme a taste - what’s good ab the pod?

Ron H

Davo

Les Thompson

I feel like he's going to turn on season finale!

DsWorldd •

What kinda dark continent bs is that😂

Eren Jaeger

To add to the mouse stuff i believe he is the mouse and the girl is Carol who will save him from the trap

ViralCorgi

27:05 No, Sheera's right. He was the last one they found.

john segun doe

Oh no i get the point…he just pisses me off

Squaler

Some of you in the comments are just made of Ls. lol Don’t like Carol, (I agree on that) don’t like this new guy for being prideful, what are some of you on? 🤣 Hopefully Manousos sticks around to counter the misery that is Carol. Instantly likable character unlike her.

Sham3ful

Manousos moving like Naked Snake or Outdoor Boys

Raider

33:38 😂

lordjaggi

man said tick damage lmao

Sasha

I did not know they had self-playing pianos

Sasha

I feel so bad for Manousos omg

Bear

Bro why does everyone in these comments shit on Carrol so much she literally isn’t bad at all wtf

jim shields

43:05 Carol got her angel wings made of clouds. Manusos' trek through the gap mirrored Jesus' trek through the wilderness where he had to resist the temptations of the devil. Also the painting of the Bella Donna. Oh man there is so much to learn about that flower, that name, what it stands for. A deadly beauty, the lures it's victims into it's trap.

Chris De Kuristof

nah she can be annoying, specially when she reacts first thinks later, she was told if she was told if she sazzes on the hive mind many millions will die like she did the first time, she then proceeded to spazz on them again then getting sad about it like she didnt know it was going to happen, i get her situation but come on now

.jazbati

sheera was right he's the one they discovered later bc he was hiding. i mean im sure you all know by now im just commenting for my own peace of mind lol
