People all love their parents. Love isn’t always a joyous thing. Love is just the connection to another person strong enough to withstand anything, even people who hate their parents can only do so because of the love that exists and is maybe in returned. People who have lost parents or never even knew them, some hate their parents for dying. Hate them for leaving, orphans love their parents even if they hate them for not being there to return that love. At the core there is always love for a parent.

I love the way Time and Night are portrayed. Time is portrayed as uncaring and unloving but you can see deep down, he at least somewhat cares for Dream. While Night is portrayed as caring and loving but it's clear that it's all superficial. Her words have no real meaning. As harsh as Time, as cold as Night.

sheera's emotional intelligence is spot on as always. example: we have this thing in therapy called "the anger iceberg". all you see when someone is angry is the anger (like the tip of an iceberg) but there is so much more underneath that is causing it. a need to be wanted, seen, loved, fear, etc etc. i thought i hated my mother because of her abuse. evil is the word my friends use to describe her when they find out about the things that she did to me physically and emotionally it. i carried that anger with me all my life and focused on that, never looking deeper. one day in my trauma therapy class the teacher brings this up and as she is talking it hit me: i wasnt angry at my mother for the things she did to me, i was angry at her for not giving me the one thing i needed: love. i literally cried in class "i just want my mother to love me". just because someone says on the surface "i hate x im angry at x" doesnt mean its a black and white thing. there is a thin line between love in hate. you have to care about someone for them to hurt you so much that you HATE them. a total stranger does something you dont like? erased from my memory. but someone i like/love? burns with a firery passion. so yes you can LOVE your parents no matter what they do, dont do, and no matter who or what they are, but you dont have to like them, be around them, or submit yourself to their abuse. i love myself more then anyone save my baby brother, so i put me first and choose my peace, so i stay away from mother to not be abused by her anymore. it hurts me when i see people who dont do the same "yeah i know my parents hate my black wife and kid but what can i do? they are my parents, i cant abandon them. just gotta viist them without the wife and kid and hear them bash them everytime we talk" so toxic. thats self inflicting trauma and i just pray they get some healing.
