I am a JoJo fan, so I have no doubt about David Production. Some studios are guaranteed to produce bangers, some may not. Who knows JC Staff gonna make OPM ss3 like that after they produced Food Wars and Danmachi? The Promised Neverland only has one season because of CloverWorks, the same studio that produced Fairy Tails, Spy x Family and Wind Breaker. Aside from a few top studios, you can hardly be sure about anything these days, just cross your fingers and hope for the best.

If this episode truly adapted 9 chapters without skipping anything that happened in the manga, I'd be curious to hear what manga readers thought about those 9 chapters. Fire Force was a weekly series, right? If there were no breaks between the chapters, it means 2-ish months were spent on Benimaru's fight and flashback. That seems like a really long time for something that could be fully adapted by the anime in 20-ish minutes. Benimaru is a fun character, and good fight scenes are exciting to see, but 9 chapters might have tested my patience. If anyone happens to know the chapter numbers and would be willing to share, I'd appreciate it. Don't wanna risk spoilers by searching myself.

I never read the manga, but I think the real human world got taken by adolla during the last collapse and turned it into a cartoon world. Now this new adolla is turning the world into a drawing world possibly, since they saw the water and sky turn into a kind of painting.

Hmmm. Most of 220 (and some of 221) got covered by the previous episode, so this episode covers 8 chapters, not 9. Quite a lot of panels from those chapters were skipped, too, so it feels like only 4 - 6 chapters worth of content was adapted. You can tell they did the best they could with an unreasonable episode count, so I give them props for working within the given parameters. The manga panels they skipped were the least important, so even though cutting them meant streamlining the pre-fight moments and writing out some info dumps, scenes with Squad 1,  fight, and entire characters (including someone I don't recall meeting before), I think they adapted these 8 - 9 chapters the best they could. Don't get me wrong, this was a great episode. On the plus side, because they had to cut so much, they were left with only the best of the best. As others said, the pacing feels good, and I think that's because they focused on only the most important moments. In an ideal world, I think we would have gotten 2 episodes and still maintained the pacing, but I suppose it wasn't meant to be. It's a real shame how, even in 2026, the vast majority of new animes are forced to fit within the 11 - 13 episode, 22-minute broadcasting model.

I’m with Sheera: I also got really teary eyed during the climax of the fight. Just seeing a stoic character like Benimaru have this emotional moment with all these fireworks and explosions everywhere. Just very moving
