Something about this Fate series is strange. It’s almost fake

DIOR

Cleared for anime of the season probably year

Honored one

😐😐......🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Michael Kaiser

My dawg kno ball I never doubted you 🥹

Michael Kaiser

FUCKING PEAKKKKK LIONHEARTTTTTTTTTTTT RAHHHHHHHH

DIOR

Been waiting 10 years for this to be animated brother and it’s exceeding every possible expectation. Us Fate fans might not eat often but when we do we get a whole buffet.

BZD

A lord isn’t allowed to go to grail wars because last time one went he got killed by Kiritsugu and had his families magic crest ruined, I am of course talking about Kayneth. I guess technically Kiritsugu didn’t kill him, but Maiya did.

BZD

Altry is a like a pet name for the King Arthur saber, though she’s more saying Arto-Chan. Technically her name is officially translated as Altria, but that’s stupid and most fans spell it the way it’s pronounced: Artoria or Arturia.

wavyesper

BEEN WAITING FOR PEAK

Michael Kaiser

Facts bro right here with you nd I really hope going forward we get more fate animated with this type of animation style its magnificent 😭I could cry of joy rn

Benaiah Massey

Just to answer one of your questions, the altry that Francesca was talking about is Artoria. Which is King Arthur in the fate verse. The blonde girl saber that is normally summoned.

Bigbommerkev !

Explaining enkidu VERY SHORT VERSION: Enkidu is a weapon that was created by the gods specifically meant to kill Gilgamesh however they ended up becoming friends. They represents all of nature and life. Yes THEY because they are technically genderless. They’re kind of like a doll.

ATPR

To answer another question: The 3 threats that Richard/Enkidu speak of are: Jester(Dead Apostle), Fake Rider(Black Plague), and Alcides(whose corrupted by the "Black Mud" from the previous Grail War). If any of these three got their hands on the grail, they'd cause a ton of trouble for varying reasons.

BZD

She is not King Arthur. They even mentioned that her hair is dyed right now. So it’s not usually blonde. She just looks similar to her.

ATPR

Whole localization issue causes a bunch of misunderstandings. Its crazy too cuz she was referred to as "Artoria" in official Fate media until just a few years ago...

Yoruka

The monster assassin and saber mentioned teaming up against is the Vampire the one in a kid body now, the monster Enkidu (CC green hair) mentioned is the servant of the little girl in the hospital that has just been a black blob so far but they are producing the fog and "waterfall" they mentioned at the end.

BZD

I think that Mr. Black’s identity is still a mystery. Maybe edit your comment to just say Mr. black.

Enrique

A few details that are easy to miss from this episode: That dream scene with Saint Germain was a memory from Richard's past before he was a king and during his search for those Arthurian treasures. Now, Saint Germain was first seen here, but he was previously name-dropped before as one of the few individuals who had killed Francesca before. Also, he's riding a car around in the 11th century. And Saint Germain was supposed to be from the 18th century. That all seems important to note, as in history he claimed to be a time traveller and some other stuff (fun fact, he was in Castlevania as a magician/alchemist too) In the beginning, we can see the people who are flocking to and staying in the city. Tsubaki told her Rider last episode that she doesn't want anyone to ever leave again, so it seemingly took that order very seriously, but in a rather liberal way. You can see those dark spots that are like a plague or disease. Also, Richard the Lionheart famously fought in the Third Crusades, so that's where he met the Order of Assassins (the ones that usually wear the skull mask), like the current one comes from (including the assassin girl we see). If you've watched any Robin Hood movies, Robin Hood is usually depicted as a supporter of King Richard against his little brother, and Robin Hood is the one called "Loxley" here. In this case, as Richard already mentioned that he can ask for the help of certain heroes that decided to come with him, he asked for Loxley's help and gained agility. Lastly, he can use anything as Excalibur, but ofc it will be less strong than the actual Excalibur used by Arthur (or Artoria, the female name used in Fate).

BZD

Gilgamesh got summoned because the guy who originally summoned him used a catalyst related to Gilgamesh. He used one of his keys. And in Fate Zero Rin’s dad used a snake skin from a snake in Gilgamesh’s legend, that stole the herb of immortality from Gilgamesh. As for why Gilgamesh shows up a lot, it’s because he is a fan favorite and authors just really like to have him show up. There is no guarantee.

Yoruka

Ayaka (Saber master not master) is not saber BTW she just has similar hair color lol. (In another series of Fate she was the master of male King Arthur though so her being Arthur nut Richard's master in this is ironic).

Oxalic Acid

None of these are spoilers, just stuff from the current episodes (I watched this one 3 times cause the art direction was mind blowing) or cut content (they cut a lot): The green one is Enkidu, they are genderless, and was essentially sent to kill Gilgamesh, but they became best friends/lovers (the reading is very ambiguous in both the og legend and the series, but the refer to each other as friends). Enkidu is made of clay which explains their earth powers. The woman in the hospital was Jack the Ripper, who, due to never having been identified, has the ability to shapeshift (he could be anyone, yada yada). The black stuff is from the rider that is with the little girl, as the computer said they are the plague/horseman of death. Ayaka is not saber she just dyed her hair. Altry is Altria, the female name of King Arthur (Saber). The name makes more sense when read Arty and Arturia/Artoria. Nasu, the creator of fate is very stubborn about Altria though. Assassin and Saber are both after the Dead Apostle (vampire), Enkidu is after the Rider, as Pale Rider is a natural counter to Enkidu. And don't worry, the confusion is not just you guys, this series (Fate Strange/Fake) is full of references to all the Fate works, including the visual novel, and Tsukihime, Nasu's previous work which part of a seperate timeline to Fate and currently has no anime (good) adaptation.

Anzor Wilson

Ayaka Sajou Is not Saber from Fate/Stay Night/Zero, if you pay attention to Lord El-Melloi II's conversation he even states that her hair color is different.

BZD

Curse you Nasu and your retcons! I’m still upset about Shirou being unable to project divine artifacts being a thing now, yet we literally see him project Excalibur in one of the bad ends.

BZD

My 10+ years of fate knowledge are finally coming in handy again. I get to be a paragraph guy!

Zeke

Honestly, there isn't much to explain here. "Altry" is King Arthur or what Fate calls her "Artoria." As for Gilgamesh, the terms of his contract are always: if you can meet his standards, he'll give you access to his true power. For Tiné (his master in this show), the terms are: "if you want my true power, then find your own reason for fighting in this war instead of being a puppet for your clan's wish." And he's basically helping her find her own reason.

BZD

Don’t forget that Enkidu modeled their appearance after a divine prostitute. That’s very important lore.

Yoruka

Lastly yes Ayaka was dreaming about Richard's memories, this is something possible for masters as it was shown before in Fate Unlimited Blade Works (1st one you guys reacted to)

BZD

It’s hard to call it a series when we’ve only got like an 11 minute OVA. I want more of Fate Prototype

Zeke

He's also just an incredibly flexible character that can basically fit any story

Over Whelmed

That isn't mother nature. That's is Gilgamesh's one and only friend. Referenced by Gilgamesh a lot and found within his myth. Idk if it's different in Fate but initially in the myth he was a man. He's like a homunculus though so it doesn't really matter.

DIOR

Short remarks: • Enkidu is not Mother Earth itself, instead it’s essentially an agent for it (Counter Force). Enkidu’s power pretty much scales directly with the planet because it’s used to directly handle threats to humanity. As far as servants in the war goes it can really wipe anyone with relative ease but it’s nerf is of course the fact it has a personality. The more dangerous the threat, the more power Gaia gives it to stop the threat. Furthermore Enkidu has no gender, its appearance came from a woman called Shamhat who was a prostitute that fucked Enkidu for a week straight in lore which enabled it to gain human wisdom and reason. It wears that look because it thought she was the most beautiful being it saw. Enkidu is literally clay. Yes literally. • Ayaka is NOT Saber. Many people have concluded this for some reason. Not every blonde female character in the series is saber lol, and that’s pretty much an inside joke because the term “Saberface” exists due to the countless versions of her as well as characters that look like her. Ayaka Sajyou is a character from Fate/Prototype, the original version (concept) of Fate/Stay Night that featured a male version of King Arthur. Arturia (Saber) was created from scratch for the revised concept which ended up being F/SN. They have 0 correlation. Funnily enough the proof of concept movie for Prototype was so popular that it more or less became a series within the Nasuverse and has its own respective content. • Red riding hood is a direct reference to the visual novel Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. It’s a story from within it that I can’t really say much more about within the context of FSF since it obviously is related to Ayaka specifically. Narita basically took that one part of the entire VN and integrated it into this story on some inception shit. There’s a twist to it but honestly Ayaka is the most nuanced character in FSF because she’s directly tied to multiple other Fates and had elements of them blended into her character for this story. You literally won’t be able to fully grasp her depth without a lot of other material being consumed prior. • Saint Germain is one of the people who killed Prelati(Francesca) she mentioned that last episode. Not much more to say about him he’s not that developed in the franchise yet. The other person she mentioned that killed her is the old man you see sitting in the chair in some weird dimension at the end of Whispers of Dawn. Then a character from Kara no Kyoukai. Which you should watch since it’s the best thing the creator of Fate has ever made.

Lash

As a reminder we already learned Enkidus(green hair dude) identity in episode 0. Hes not male or female. In The epic of Gilgamesh( the story Gilgamesh and Enkidu originate from) you learn that the Gods created a creature out of mud named Enkidu to control Gilgamesh. Also altry is King Arthur. Lastly Ayaka is not saber, just putting out there so you don’t keep speculating. Master often have dreams of their servants past. We’ve seen that happen with in UBW

Certifiedan3

Altry is just a shortened nickname to Altria Pendragon. Which is official/unofficial name change due to English localization from Artoria Pendragon to Altria Pendragon.

BZD

Is he flexible, though? I feel like he’s such a static and locked in character that rather the story itself becomes flexible around him. I agree with the sentiment that he can fit in tons of stories though.

Kami_Psy

“Drop your paragraphs in the comments” lmfao. Every week of this show gonna be like a book club meeting

Anzor Wilson

Its also fine to refer to Enkidu as he as that is what Gilgamesh uses, and that is how it is in the lore.

BruLee Arts

First “Fake” Servants: - Gil: Archer - Enkidu: Lancer - Mr.Black: Assumed Rider (they said Calvaryman. - Assassin: Same sect as the Hassan’s from Fate Zero/Heaven’s Feel - Jack the Ripper: Berserker - “Unamed Caster of Police Chief” - Watcher Class: Weird asf rn, has master that will turn into a lancer? “True” Servants: - Richard: Saber - Alcides: Archer->turned Avenger - Hippolyta: Rider - “Unnamed Assassin”: Summoned by Faldeus guy. - Francesca Pilati: Caster (summon past self) - “Unknown” Berserker

Thunter

The nurse at the end was Flat’s servant Jack the Ripper, he can transform into anybody and turned into the nurse lady as she clocked out. Flat and Jack are just investigating the hospital where the little girl master is cause that’s the source of the fog that I think is responsible for killing the animals with disease

WITCH_of_AKASHA

Ok first thing Ayaka Sajou is not King Arthur. She has nothing to do with any Arthurian legends, only Richard has some links ties to that since he was king of England for a time. As far a you three know Ayaka is only a normal civilian, not even a mage even though she has an abundant of magical energy to provide for Richard. That Little Red Riding Hood ghost story is obviously link to Ayaka Soujou. She’s a complete mystery. All we know of her so far is that she was forced to joined the war by the Einzbern family, and she has a curse of Little Red Riding Hood taunting her. For now that’s all you need to know about her until the anime goes more in depth to her character. The Clock Tower lords AKA Waver from Fate Zero is aware of Ayaka Sajou, he claims that he knows of her and that’s she has studied under Waver for a mouth. Also it’s important to note that Ayaka Sajou isn’t an official master to Richard, she’s only a pseudo master, they’re connected to a magical energy pact. Either case there is times when a master goes on a dream sequence with there servant past life. What Ayaka just saw was Richard quest to search for King Arthur treasure, on that day he’s meets with Saint Germain The weird part of Ayaka Sajou’s dream sequence was that Saint Germain took notice on Ayaka which is weird because it seems like he’s looking into the future and gave regards to Ayaka from the past. Well that’s a whole other mystery that the anime will explain later on. But like I said Ayaka Sajou is not King Arthur.

Over Whelmed

That Excalibur scene was dope. Love to see the apostle on screen. I can't wait to see what Jack the ripper can do and how that kid in the coma's servant evolves.

Over Whelmed

Roshi did you know the epic of Gilgamesh is one of if not thee oldest recorded tales? It was discovered on a stone tablet and dates back to ancient Mesopotamia. His myth takes place in Uruk which I believe is the equivalent to ancient Babylon.

Jazko Exclusive

The studio is just flexing their skills. Mappa ain’t the only one who can drop S-tier Animation on a dime

tygspeedy

nahhh that trial was peak

Fernando Perez

Green haired Servant is Enkidu, as shown in episode 0. In the Epic of Gilgamesh, Enkidu was a wild animal-like man that was created by the gods to challenge and humble Gilgamesh, but they became very close companions/lovers. In the context of Fate, Enkidu is genderless and made of clay, and they are on par with Gilgamesh in terms of power. Altry is just Francesca’s nickname for Artoria (Saber from Zero and Stay Night). Remember she wanted to summon her and have her kill Ayaka for funsies, but it was Richard who was summoned instead. The reason she calls her Altry is because Fate’s official localization for the name is technically “Altria” for some stupid reason and not Artoria like everyone in the fandom calls her. Yes, Ayaka had that dream of Richard. Masters tend to dream memories of their Servants. The hospital scene is basically this: Flat had summoned Jack the Ripper back in Episode 0 as Fake Berserker. Jack has the ability to turn into basically anything because he himself has no known identity. Flat is a pretty crazy mage, so he sensed that there’s some kind of black fog encroaching around Snowfield that is particularly dense around the hospital. So he sent Jack, transformed as a nurse, to investigate. The fog is seemingly caused by the comatose little girl, more specifically the Rider Servant she summoned (that black figure from last episode). Said fog can seemingly cause disease and death. This being is the “black curse” Enkidu wishes to destroy. Again, many of these things were set up in episode 0, but it’s been like 2 years since you watched it which is why it’s significantly more confusing.

ATPR

You're right. Mb

del

Imagine watching Fate and you don’t have a PhD in ancient Mesopotamian mythology. Couldn’t be me

DocGreen

I don't care what know one says I love this franchise even if I only understand like 20 percent of it if that. I just bought which of the whole knight and I'm gonna rewatch watch garden of sinners

del

The “Little Red Riding Hood” scary story… the first shot of the girls telling the story puts them on the archery range at Shirou’s high school back in Fuyuki Japan. Strange Fake takes place in 2009, five years after the events of UBW / HF, so the girls are just some randos. The show strongly implies the connection between Ayaka and Little Red Riding Hood, since it’s clear from her hazy memories of various Fuyuki landmarks (Einzbern castle in the woods, Kirei in the Church) as well as the themes of guilt and betrayal Ayaka expresses about herself and the scary story itself. And in the dream sequence Ayaka was seeing Richard’s memories of meeting Saint Germaine, who is one of the notable people who killed Francesca in the past, and who actually drove up to Richard in a real car. And it would appear he’s communicating directly to Ayaka who is seeing Richard’s memories way in the future.

Fernando Perez

Some have already done it but just a refresh on the Servants we’ve seen so far: Fake Lancer - Enkidu: green haired, Gilgamesh’s best friend, Servant to the wolf. Fake Archer - Gilgamesh, Tine’s Servant Fake Rider - Unknown name, but it’s heavily implied so far that it’s the dark figure that’s with the little comatose girl, and responsible for the black fog. Fake Berserker - Jack the Ripper, Flat’s Servant, can shapeshift Fake Caster - the writer who’s always on the phone with his Master, the police chief. True name unknown. Fake Assassin - The female Hassan that has teamed up with Richard and Ayaka. Her master is Jester, the Dead Apostle True Saber - Richard I, Ayaka’s Servant True Lancer - technically what the short haired boy will become as he’s guided by the Watcher True Archer - Alcides (Heracles), Cordelion’s Servant True Rider - Hippolyta, Amazon Queen, master unknown True Berserker - not shown yet True Caster - Francois Prelati - Francesca’s previous incarnation and her Servant True Assassin - unknown, likely another Hassan, speaks to his Master Faldeus mostly through written notes.

halcyon

also tbf Fate is a HUGE franchise by itself. they have the money to make sure shits looking good. theres been like 6 different studios that have adapted various Fate projects and they all look fantastic

Gwyn

Lmao but FR tho, the world religions class I took back in college was so helpful for understanding this series

Seibahhh

the mud they speak of is the mud from the corrupted grail from fate zero and stay night. francesca was able to get some of the mud. Enkidu (made from clay by the gods to defeat gilgamesh, but became his best friend) is worried that the fake rider could be fusing with said mud also altry is artoria and no ayaka is not saber (artoria) lmao

Carlo Marasigan

Petition for us to watch Fate Grand Order Babylonia please!!!!

The Holy Grail War has a plot that progressively gets more difficult as it continues, the episode begins in thirty seconds with all Masters lining up at the start thinking they’re prepared, the pace starting slow before immediately accelerating as Servants collide across the city, with a single reality-breaking encounter needing to be completed at each beep, everyone reminded to fight in a straight line and survive as long as possible, until Gilgamesh’s presence spikes the difficulty without warning, Enkidu’s arrival raises the speed again, conceptual weapons and divine authority start overlapping like missed lane changes, someone fails to keep up with the beep and that’s one miss, someone else underestimates a Servant or starts monologuing and that’s the second miss, test over, and by the end no one is pacing themselves, everyone is sprinting at maximum output, the city is the gym floor, the Noble Phantasms are the soundtrack, and you’re told to record your score, which is now just how many characters are still alive and capable of understanding what just happened. This was the Fitness Gram Pacer Test.

P. A.

Quick rundown: - Ayaka had a vision/ dream through Richard's eyes when he encountered Saint Germain. It's similar to when Waver had a dream of Rider reaching Okeanos, or when Rin was dreaming about Archer. There are other examples, but mostly just the masters experiencing something that has meaning through their servants. It doesn't mean that she is saber (artoria) even tho there are resemblances. - The backstory with the red riding hood that keeps haunting Ayaka will be explained later. - The name Altry derives from Artoria Pendragon (Arthur Pendragon). This is just a translation thing, technically the sub should've shown Artry (Artoria), not Altry. - Roshi's close to understanding Enkidu, but u have to read Gilgamesh's backstory in order to get Enkidu's origin. He is tho a divine type spirit, which partially explains why he is on par with Gil and the forest he created there is what obscured Francesca prying eyes. - The monster Enkidu wants to get rid is the "curse of death" mentioned in episode 0 by Gil. He is also fake rider. So that kinda hints who rider is and why he is a problem for Enkidu as noted by himself. - Enkidu talked about the black curse and brown clump of mud. The black curse is most likely reffering to rider since he is his polar opposite in a way, but the brown clump of mud can be confusing here. When he said mud, u'd think its alcides since he has the mud from the 3rd holy grail war infused in him because of his mafia master(mud that derives from Angra Mainyu - just look it up, it was mentioned in Heaven's feel 3rd movie); but its specified brown mud, so it may be from something that would be a spoiler if it's mentioned rn. - Flat and Jack were doing some recon in the hospital where the girl in a coma, Tsubaki (fake rider's master) is being treated. And u can see there's alot of ppl who are being sick/ animals dying and so on, because of the "curse of death", which is rider himself. The "fog" mentioned in previous episode is caused by Rider, hence why Flat is there near the hospital with Jack. Why there is a fog, animals dying, ppl getting sick (black spots), cutscenes with Tsubaki being up and well with animals and what not around her will prolly be explained later on (and hopefully explained properly) because the nature of all this shit happening rn around her and rider can be very confusing if u don't delve much into fate lore. The chick doctor who was swimming in the goo shit is Jack just swimming in the black mass of "death" or "fog" as they wrote. I guess that curse doesn't affect a heroic spirit like jack since he technically doesn't have a body? Not sure how to read that. Remember that jack can be anyone or anything (like flat's watch) since his identity was never revealed in history. - Your friend gave u the minimum rundown on how Francesca summoned her past self. Just remember, when historical figures are confirmed dead, all the info in human history is being recorded in the Throne of Heroes from where heroic spirits are summoned. Whatever is archived from human history is also what defines said heroic spirit's class, powers and noble phantasms. it's not that Francesca summoned her past self that died, but what that past self was recorded to have died in human history. If humanity knew for sure she was still around swapping bodies, she most likely couldn't have summoned Francois Prelati. Also she was the tutor of Gilles the Rais (bluebeard), the crazy caster from fate zero who was paired with the serial killer. Francesca was also the one who gave him the book which was his noble phantasm. - Fake assassin revealed more about her backstory where one of her leaders fought together with Richard. And it shown a black cloaked figure with a white mask (this is why Richard in ep 1 when he was summoned was close to figuring it out who she was, because they are part of the same cult). Keep that in mind for later, hopefully this show explains it more even tho she did reveal her noble phantasms multiple times. She is a very interesting character.

Vlad

You got it wrong roshi, when the contract is formed B/W Master and Servant, masters tend to have dreams of their servant past life

Jeremiah Cobb

To fully understand who Enkidu is, you might wanna watch a video on YouTube about Gilgamesh’s past. An example would be the one titled “Anime's Greatest Chad: The Epic of Gilgamesh (Fate Lore)”. Otherwise their connection can be kind of confusing if you didn’t watch “fate grand order: absolute demonic front Babylonia”.

Mike A

Yeah I'm only following about 60% of what's going on but I'm still enjoying it. The cast is too big and there's too much weird stuff going on. Like it's not enough that you have a Fake War and a Real War going on, but you've got all the weird stuff going on with a bunch of the Servants. It's just too much at once.

JustThatOtherDude

Enkidu attacking with LITERAL BLADES OF GRASS made me sooooo mad 🤣🤣🤣

JustThatOtherDude

Wait.... time travelling conman?? Is that the same saint germaine from Castlevania??

Over Whelmed

I got the epic of Gilgamesh so I could better understand his character after watching Fate zero 😂. This series has made me learn a lot.

PyroPhoenix

Altry is a nickname for King Arthur’s real name. Francesca wanted to summon the Saber we always see and not Richard but guess she got the wrong scabbard or something happened idk

Jin Shim

She used the box that had Avalon inside. And according to Richard wiki, the box itself is what Richard used to store Avalon

Victor

I feel like there are too much going on in that for them to follow. They are mostly familiar with the HGW format, so Fate/Apocrypha would be a better choice imo, if they pick up any other Fate series at all.

salad

correction, its horseman of pestilence not death

Co

LMAO idk why Lupa having to clarify he isn't a creep at 4:32 was so funny to me. Bro, we know what you meant. You're good.

DJ Muldrow

Enkidu is Gilgamesh’s friend in the epic of Gilgamesh right? They’re both half-gods or just really strong humans I forget tbh but I don’t think enkidu is Mother Nature

DJ Muldrow

This is the most confusing show of all time 😭

WackySwacky

LMFAO “drop your paragraphs in the comments explaining shit.” LOL realest thing Roshi has said in a while.

Rob Pait

The green haired servant is a dude, and Gilgamesh's boyfriend. Even in the orignal babylonian text, there is no other interpretation. His name is Enkidu, and was a man made of clay by the gods to defeat Gilgamesh, but he was eventually won over by Gil.

Co

Someone explain this episode without spoilers, please!

Lil Pan

The nurse at the hospital is Jack the Ripper or Fake Berserker. Jack The Ripper has the ability to transform into anyone, they showed it in episode 0. They noticed a weird black fog over Snowfield so they were just investigating potentially the source of it. The black fog Enkidu/Fake Lancer/Green hair dude wanted to defeat is what is causing those black scars to appear on the animals last episode, and on the people of Snowfield this episode. At the beginning of the episode they also confirmed the black fog is the Rider of the 6 Fake Servants. We saw the Rider/the black fog briefly last episode with its master (the little girl in the hospital) in their own little dream world.

Acen Yang

Altry is the Saber you guys knows from the Fate Stay night series. Altry is nickname for her Name Artoria or Altria

Co

@YaBoyRoshi, this is your paragraph ^

Lil Pan

He’s not Gilgamesh’s boyfriend lol. You could argue that but I wouldn’t state it as factual. They are REALLY REALLY good friends tho.

Chinese Cartoons

Enkidu is quite specifically genderless in Fate. They were made out of literal clay and are a natural shapeshifter. Technically in Fate their appearance is based on Shamhat, the sacred prostitute who civilized Enkidu and brought them in from the wilds in the first place, so they are intentionally androgynous.

Abensur

I’m ngl does anyone else find King Richard being able to turn stuff into one shot Excaliburs due to being a super weeb fucking HYSTERICAL

Rob Pait

In the Babylonian epic, it describes them kissing and holding hands, and Gilgamesh's mother refers to Enkidu as Gilgamesh's spouse. Gilgamesh has a dream about an axe, representing Enkidu, and tells his mom he wishes to love it like a woman. Then, there is the matter of his grief at Enkidu's death. The only surprising thing is that it took until 1930 until academics realized, "This might be gay."

Carlo Marasigan

Its just that there we will see part of the story between Gil and Enkidu. I think they will appreciate it.

Lucius Reinhard

Oh, so the fake rider is just straight up Death. Gotcha

Isaac

I kinda laughed that Roshi thinks Enkidu is "mother nature" but I cant blame him for that. Mother Nature is a Greek thing, fake!Lancer/Enkidu is a Babylonian figure who kinda has a similar story to Rimuru from Slime on their femenine appearance. They're nothing but mud and dirt who took the form of a female prostitute who was a close friend of their's who died. Enkidu transformed their shape to resemble her out of love which is why he he looks androgynous. Technically he's a they but everyone refers to Enkidu mainly as male because it ultimately doesnt matter. They're dirt. Literally. A very pretty clump of dirt.

DIOR

No Victor is right. FGO anime are PROMOTIONAL MATERIAL. You are talking about a game with over 600 fucking hours of content. Even if we’re just talking about up until that Singularity, it’s literally not worth it for them specifically to watch. Unless they do a full adaptation which is virtually impossible with how long the story is. Lostbelt 6 is a 30+ hour visual novel alone and that’s one chapter in the game. Apocrypha would make more sense. They’d understand literally nothing at all starting off with FGO Babylonia and they’re going to have questions no amount of paragraphs being posted in the comment section can truly answer in entirety.

Carlo Marasigan

I always skip the story in the game so I wouldn't know 😅

ViralCorgi

Enkidu is technically genderless but the majority of the fandom seems to opt for male pronouns if they do gender them, probably due to some of the official art and merchandise having the character look a bit more masculine.

DIOR

Well this is Fate, not the Babylonia epic. They literally have like 300 different historical figures that are genderbent, not every story/character has identical lore to their respective irl canon or even remotely similar in some cases. So your homoerotic projection of a history lesson was unnecessary.

sotonye ogan

People on here and twitter that are saying this fate strange fake can be a starter anime for newcomers are crazy af I watched like damn near all adaptations bar grand/order/studio deen fate, this shit still turns my head🤣

Kalf97

saber is a die hard king arthur nut that he can turn anything he holds into excalibur. saber, enkidu and fake assassin team up cause assassin wants her master dead, enkidu wants to deal with fake rider, and heracles cause they reference the mud that corrupted him. (the black and red stuff, francesca mentions she gave it to his master because she didn't wanna keep touching it and faldeus mentions she got it from fuyuki. implying it is the grail mud that we saw in stay/night). flat and fake berserker find the source of the black fog (which is one of the things enkidu wanted to deal with. ) But jester is already there in his child form and sensed fake berserker. also ayaka murdered her parents? not too sure.

Grelk

so why not just 'it'

sora

This comment section has me dying. I'm so proud of all you nerds. Please keep helping. Idk what's going on either.

ViralCorgi

Both based on a real person - Comte de Saint Germain, also known as The Wonderman

DIOR

Let’s not start dropping subtle information as spoilers.

DIOR

It literally just refers to it as a plagued wind of death. It doesn’t reveal its True Name. Why tf y’all spouting it when it’s gonna be revealed eventually in more context.

MrC4_Eyes

gilgamesh is 2/3 god

Lucius Reinhard

Skill issue I read the bible as a kid, who else would fit being a Rider and being described as the wind of death? They practically just said it out loud

MrC4_Eyes

because they aren’t an object, you dont refer to personal beings as “it”

Lucius Reinhard

Like they’re not gonna describe some random ass dude as the “plagued wind of death” in Fate, no one has that kind of reputation in history because they’re still based on regular ass people

PhaedrusRumple

Replies don’t know what’s going on either 😂

Just Gene

Masters and servants share dreams about each other's lives. Enkidu is a Babylonian myth, from the tales of Gilgamesh. Other people have explained their nature, but from what I remember they are a weapon made by the gods to kill Gilgamesh but ultimately ended up befriending him. That last scene was a bit strange, but it was Jack the Ripper, because of their myth being that they were never identified, this Jack has no true form, and is a shape shifter.

Just Gene

Also I'm replying to my own comment to glaze the glazer more. I love Fate's King Richard. The ultimate King Arthur fan boy that can convince himself that anything is Excalibur.

Arsean Wilbon

Altry or Artoria is the female Saber aka "king Arthur", Ayaka is not and has nothing to do with the female Saber lol this isn't a spoiler either, Ayaka is literally just a protag we have seen before in Fate Stay Night I believe. Enkidu is not mother nature, he is a genderless man taking the form of a man but can be a women if so desires, is really just sentient clay. Think a magical golem(this is the most simplistic way I can explain him but he is way bigger than that in his history).. He, saber and fake assassin want to stop Fake rider "Mr Black". Mr black is basically Death and Disease, hence why Enkidu during the fight with Gilamesh says another servant is his worst match up in a way because enkidu works with life. The nurse at the hospital is fake berserker aka Jack the ripper, he can mimic anyones appearance or any object hence why he is a talking watch. They went to the hospital to investigate the source of the black fog in the sky affecting everything with those black spots, the hospital is the source because tsubaki(another character we have seen) is there comatose and Mr black is there. this magical mud can be 1 or two things Heracles is affected by it or it could be some else idk .

Stephen D

Can't believe roshi said who is Altry with a straight face. Especially, after JJK.

Chimera134

Enkidu as others have explained and as was mentioned in the Episode 0 is basically a God and should never have been summoned cause of how strong "he" is. Enkidu, Gilgamesh, and Heracles/ Alcides are all basically half gods even though Gods aren't meant to be allowed to be summoned as Servants. That's why those guys are complete monsters above everyone else pretty much. As for Enkidu backstory, some others have mentioned bits and pieces of it. But Enkidu is basically a Primal Spirit of Earth and Mud and Clay that took the shape of a beast, rampaged around for awhile. Created by the Sky Goddess Aruru of Babylonia, Enkidu was pretty much created to be Gilgamesh's fated rival/ chains/ enemy that kept him in check as Gilgamesh sought godhood at all costs. Eventually the giant monster Enkidu falls in love with a prostitute named Shamhat and this tames the creature of clay and rage into a proper living thing. When she dies, Enkidu takes her body and uses it as "his" new vessel. Sort of like Rimuru from Reincarnated as a Slime. Now that he has known love, lust, and other emotions of humanity. Enkidu is pretty much "mother earth" but as a thing/ man. In short short summary. Enkidu is a super-powerful nature spirit that took over the body of the chick it loved, and is in a super love/ hate/ rivalry relationship with Gilgamesh.

So Enkidu Gilgamesh only friend was created by the gods to rein in Gilgamesh after he started to get a Little too Arrogant. They were originally a mindless golem but I Believe it was Ishtar that had one of her holy prostitutes (Priestess) go and lay with it for about a week. After the week passed Enkidu took on her form which is why Enkidu looks like a women kind of like Rimaru. They fought became best buds and in anger Ishtar after being rejected by Gil sent her Bull of heaven to destroy Uruk. It was killed by the combined efforts of both Gil and Enkidu and they threw the bulls ass at Ishtar while insulting her. She went to her dad the head god and since they can't really do anything to Gilgamesh with him being the bridge between man and gods they cursed Enkidu so he slowly withered away. This caused Gil to question his own mortality and after Enkidu died went on to search for immortality in fear of death. He eventually finds it in the underworld but on the way back he stops to bath which lets a snake devour it given it the ability to shed its skin, which is what Tokoyomi uses to summon Gil in Zero, after that event Gil returns to Uruk coming to terms with his own mortality and rules Uruk as a wise king. He does return to the underworld to get the potion of youth to add to his treasury which is what he was going to drink in episode 0 before feeling Enkidu being summoned and instead giving it to Tine. Also fun fact Gil got the idea of firing his weapons from Enkidu which is how Enkidu fought by sending his mud weapons from the ground at him.

I'm going to try to touch on all the explainable unclear parts of this episode chunk by chunk, mostly skipping over the clear parts and the parts we're probably not meant to understand: In the opening bit, we see Faldeus (the spy) investigating the black bruising and unexplained deaths popping up around the city (which, last episode, we learned is caused by the little girl’s servant). While doing so, he discovers a note from his servant (True Assassin) that tells him, and us, that this is being caused by a Rider-class servant, which we can assume is the Fake Rider, based on it appearing in episode 0 with the other fake servants. We’re also shown the text “The cursed, plagued wind of death” as he makes that realization, possibly hinting toward what exactly the bruising and deaths are, and the identity of the spirit causing them. In the next bit, we jump back to Richard’s side, which seems to start not too long after Jester’s fight with the Priest, where we follow their side quest to form alliances. There we learn a bit about Richard’s character and powers, get confirmation that Enkidu (the green-haired servant) is the Fake Lancer, and pick up both Enkidu and Fake Assassin as allies. Enkidu joins them because they want to take out two other monsters: a “black curse” that seems to refer to Fake Rider and a “clump of mud” which is the thing Alcides’ master used to corrupt him after dropping his resistance with all 3 command spells. The “mud” here is actually some of the stuff that destroyed a chunk of the city at the end of Fate/Zero after Kiritsugu had Saber destroy the grail, and is the same thing that corrupted Saber into the dark version of herself in the Heaven’s Feel movies. This section then ties back into the events of the previous episode before finishing with a cryptic dream that I don’t believe we’re supposed to understand yet. The final section of the episode directly continues Flat’s perspective from last episode, where he noticed the black fog covering the entire city. From there, he presumably pinpointed the source of the fog and sent his servant Fake Berserker (Jack the Ripper) to the hospital to investigate using the shapeshifting powers they explained in episode 0. Flat judged it too dangerous to continue and pulled Jack back without actually reaching the little girl, or Jester who was in her room at the time.

Xrathithy

This is more trivia than anything, but at the beginning of Richard’s section of the episode we also find out the most likely reason why he was summoned instead of Artoria (Saber from Zero and S/N). Francesca used the box that used to hold Avalon, the sheath of Excalibur, as the summoning catalyst because Avalon itself (the relic used both times Artoria was summoned previously) is apparently gone. In Fate/Zero we're told that it was actually King Richard who originally discovered Avalon and stored it in that box as part of his obsession with King Arthur, which is why the box connected to him rather than Artoria.

Stephen D

There are terms in fate called "Saber Faces", "Rin Faces", "Sakura Faces", etc. What I am trying to say is they may share a similar appearance, but they rarely have anything to do with one another. You wouldn't believe how many saber faces are in Fate/ GO and other Nasu works.

Stephen D

Makes sense especially since the box housing Avalon wouldn't mean anything to King Arthur. To Arthur it would just be some random box. It only held a special meaning to Richard since he is the one who used the box to store it. Nice Catch.

Lani Serrano

you guys should watch Ne Zha II

earthphoenix7068

Roshi is only sorta right. She was actually Sabers original concept during the very beginning drafts but yeah she’s not saber.

Stephen D

You know I was actually wondering why Richard didn't seem concerned about losing his sword early on. Now I know why. It was just a fancy looking sword that he didn't really need anyways.

SonOfMan

The end segment was just Jack disguised as a nurse checking on the little girl master in the hospital. The kid in the end was the vampire from earlier episodes who's basically in the same room as the little girl

baja

Another thing that seemed weird is that saint germain not only talked to richard but also to ayaka as well through richards eye, presumably since she is experiencing the dream through richards eye. Was it a prophecy or is saint germain actually talking to her live and infiltrated the dream to do it

Monotone Type-F

really hope y'all will react to the Fate Grand Order series

Kris Barnes

The green haired person is Enkidu. A being from the same mythology as Gilgamesh. They gave that info in Episode Zero

Coatl45

Who knows with that guy. Saint Germain is a scoundrel and a conman, but he’s a powerful one, so it could be anything. Let’s just be grateful that he’s not crazy like Prelatti.

Kris Barnes

Ayaka was dreaming about an event from Richard’s life. Masters having dreams about their Servants lives is normal and happened even in Fate/Zero

Kris Barnes

Jack the Ripper, Flat’s servant who’s usually a watch, can transform into anyone and anything because according to his legend no one knows who he actually was. He just took the form of that doctor and went to the hospital to investigate the source of that weird disease that’s spreading throughout town. The source of the disease is that little girl who’s in a coma and is also a Master. That’s why the vampire guy is standing over.

Coatl45

I disagree about it being the Horseman of Death. Everyone generally calls Death “the Pale Rider”, and he has a pretty universal description as the Grim Reaper. I do believe I know who, or more precisely, what that Rider is, though. While not the work of one individual, there is precedent for the way those people and animals have died. Although, I don’t remember the Black Death killing people that quickly, or affecting that wide a range of animals. I guess whatever the ritual did to manifest the most infamous plague in history as a sapient being super charged it. I just wish I knew what kind of catalyst could summon that. Or how exactly a comatose little girl wound up its master.

Coatl45

I find it awesome, and something to aspire to as a weeb!

Coatl45

And Enkidu is a golem who had the breath of Life given to them by the gods, so they’re just as much of a god as Gil.

Coatl45

I really wouldn’t be surprised if all the Saint Germaines in history and fiction were the same person.

sol jam

Oh yeah this is a really annoying part of this franchise

Coatl45

Good! This is why I watch reactors and try to get in touch with the anime community.

Coatl45

It’s supposed to be a mystery? I was able to guess because the way it killed those people and animals was extremely distinctive. There isn’t much else that kills like that.

Coatl45

Enkidu also wants to get rid of the mud, so that’ll put them in opposition with Alcides and his master. Possibly the two Prelattis, as well.

Coatl45

He really likes this kid. Plus, he’s in a really good mood cause his best friend is back and they were able to tear shit up as soon as they met. So he’s being very generous and teaching her the things he thinks someone in her position should know.

Coatl45

Everyone said pretty much what I was thinking, so I don’t have much to add aside from how worried I am that Jester has taken an interest in Tsubaki. That’s all kinds of bad news. And Tsubaki’s Rider getting corrupted by the mud that was used on Heracles is also a very troubling thought. Because that is a very distinctive way of killing that that thing has. It’s already supercharged as it is, I don’t want to think about what would happen if it catches the mud. So thanks Enkidu, I appreciate having a brand new sleep paralysis demon keeping me awake.

Catherine Gray

Yall watched this wayyyyyyy tooo soon there people yall should know from other Fates before this

Rin Okumura

Gil is 100% Typemoon favorite child. This MF has so much contents and each version of him in each separate fate has a different personality. Fate Zero was a cruel but judge tyrant. Fate UBW he was literally an Asshole, this version he seem to adopted Iskandar "Alexander" from Fate zero personality.

salad

ehh, not really, all they are really missing is like case files and thats it

salad

because it was supposed to be name dropped back in episode 0, but they cut it out, even then the hints at the plague should be obvious enough, its not really a big spoiler either, hell one of the least spoilery servant reveals actually, they also removed fake casters name reveal but he has one coming up that works better unlike fake rider

Jalen Holmes

Altry is the saber yall know and the one I know. The one with shirou and has blond hair

chris

Man my head hurts tryna understand all the lore they drop

Denn B

once again. Please watch fate apocrypha

Denn B

also watch fate grand order for Gilgamesh and Enkidu

DIOR

Fair enough, trust me I started on JP and didn’t read the story until someone uploaded them translated on YouTube. I was legit shocked how many hours worth of of text they had in LB6, and were not even talking about all the events too which aren’t all necessarily canon to FGOs story but it just has sooo much content 😭 hate that it’ll probably never get an animation it deserves cuz some of the best Fate fights are in it.

DIOR

Please don’t be a fucking retard and just let shit play out because not everyone has the same context your Neanderthal IQ bottle brained ass is carrying. You’re just making assumptions because you lack nuanced comprehension of other human’s thinking skills. This franchise is literally centered around hiding the servants True Name. If the three people sitting on the sofa hasn’t asked for it directly then you shouldn’t be in the comments being a fucking clown you fake bible thumping dickhead. You not special for having done something the majority of people on Earth have done.

DIOR

Stop spreading misinformation. She was NOT Saber’s original concept. She was her own character. The two characters occupy completely different roles. Ayaka’s design in FSF isn’t even her original design. Nasu and Takeuchi created her original design in junior high school. They created FSN years later and changed the story to have a female Arthur and a male MC. You’d be better off saying “Arthur Pendragon (Saber) was Artoria’s inspiration”. Jesus fuck, she was never Saber’s original concept in any original drafts. She was a raven haired high school girl. This isn’t stated in any of Nasu’s materials and is established largely as the opposite of what you’re spewing nonsensically. You just gonna confuse them even more.

Carlo Marasigan

Yeah its a lot of hours with the story. I usually run out of time to finish it

Lucius Reinhard

Sorry I guess we gotta just handhold some grown ass adults and treat them like dumbasses like you because they don’t consume any literature, what the fuck is your issue do you just turn your brain off and watch the show

Lucius Reinhard

You could have at least acted like I was onto nothing too instead of confirming my guess and turning it into an actual spoiler idk, great job for pulling Neanderthal out of your dictionary though I’m sure it took a lot of effort to find considering everything else you struggle with

The Dude

She is not King Arthur. Huh? lol

Jigga Man

Dawg did St Germaine enter one of them doors in Castlevania and enter the Fate universe 😂😂 he's the exact same nigga

Sieger

17:57 the anime mispelled "received"

Himindabank

So ol’ girl is lowkey on some Raglan James shit?🤣🤣🤣

Lil Pan

Altry is just a nickname given to King Arthur by that Kenjaku lookin ahh girl (Francesca)

redrum.

Ayaka is not Saber / King Arthur. She had that dream because sometimes Masters dream about their servants past, like when Rin was dreaming of Shirou's/Archer's

lackingnames

He's just been hard retconned from the OG Gilgamesh because people liked him, so he was made to be less evil and more neutral over the years.

Preston Bryant

Love the jack ripper awesome concept makes sense

Re_Slayer

so the character that looks like c.c is genderless, they appear in fate grand/Babylonia. Their name is a small spoiler but you can easily find out who they are by looking at Gilgamesh lore. Altry is Francesca's pet name for Artoria Sayaka/ Sabers master had a dream of Richards(Saber) past as its something that occasionally happens between masters and servants.

Woah cool!

Pleeeaase watch Fate/Apogrypha and Grand Order as well! They're as good if not better as this show! I beg!

EclecticSkeptic

Ugh. Trying to suppress my desire to roll for Richard and episodes like this aren't helping damn it!

Slim

Ayaka is not saber she was dreaming about Richard's life before he became a servant, also the woman you guys saw at the end was jack the ripper he can change his form at will since people have different interpretations about him as an urban legend

sip

not really an spoiler i think, it was straight up mentioned in ep 0

Animefreak11369

Do it. I got Richard in one multiply roll and got him to level 90. I ran out of QP leveling his skills.

Archer

Y'all gotta just rewatch your own reaction for episode 0 or a small recap because you'd be saving yourself from any further confusion lol

Archer

Not really, servants are influenced by the era and context they're summoned in, Gilgamesh is a lot more chill this time around because his master is a child and Enkidu (his best friend) is present. His more callous side does leak out though like when he suggests wiping out all of snowfield to accomplish Tine's goal.

Asher Ealey

Your brains are gonna be so fried next episode 😂😂

rYenis

Yup agreed, i feel that gil is essentially the same person throughout almost all of the versions hes been in but his personality changes because of the different environments hes in. Enkidu is here so it makes sense that hes much more stoic.

Royal Lucario

please watch the other fates they are just as good if not better and provide some context to alot of the stuff your missing

Dillon K

They did just a while ago not on yt or patreon anymore

Gravity

Lionheart might be my favorite character

Silent Sage

They watched fate zero and stay night ubw and the heavens feels movies. Should be under the fate tag if you click on it

Royal Lucario

No I knew of those thank you , the previous guy was making it sound like they watched others on their own time like grand order etc , he said not on patreon

meguminis.

Enkidu has been mentioned in this series already, it's not a spoiler.

PhaedrusRumple

All their fate reactions are still there.

Baren Nerab

So Richard is kinda like a millennial, just inbetween the rise of the internet and being outside 😅
