I really love the fights in this anime, not only are they well done and animated it’s very rare to see weapons actually have weight to them. Seeing start and the demon fight shows you that they are fast but shows the drag the weapon has.

Nah they are both awkward but it is mostly on Stark this time. He suggested the date but other than asking for advice from Frieren, he fumbled at almost all possible moments during the date.

As young and inexperienced as they are, I think the date would have gone better had they talked about themselves rather than Frieren most of the time. They are both orphan that are raised by Hero party members, Heiter and Eisen, I am sure they will have some similarities.

One thing I'm liking about this season so far is how much Frieren is letting Stark and Fern at least try to handle the monsters they have fought. Because based on the stuff she was doing against her clone last season, we all know these things would be dead instantly if she wanted. But Fern and Stark need the experience, so she plays support and just finishes things before anyone gets hurt.

They have great chemistry tbh More genuine than seen in most anime where the writers cop out to characters just blushing and stuttering excessively every convo. It's just that they are both orphans, raised by single dudes, and currently have no experience or proper guidance from any adults that can show them how to make that transition from friendship to something more. Frieren can only do so much. They have a bumpy road ahead but they'll be just fine I'm sure.

Honestly, yeah .. I do hate the logic of people staying in a dangerous area because its *home* but you cant just move out. Especially en mass because boarder patrol will keep your ass where you belong. I doubt a lot of places have open boarders like that. As you can see the only reason they could get here was Fern's 1st class license.

Its not really easy just moving out of harm's way. That's why refugees exist and not a lot of places accept refugees. You cant just rebuild a new home from scratch, that's why many people are hesitant to move out however annoying that sometimes is. They'll be risking it eirher way

It's not that deep. I like to call these type of scenario as beautiful BS. If this was real life a good parent would do anything to secure a future for their kids. Even if it mean their kid will grow up in a poor/ hard life but at least they're safe and able to live on the parent would choose to abandon their home and move. Think of immigrant concept. And how will you get them somewhere safe? A three day trek left Frieren, Fern, and Stark exhausted, and they’re strong. Most people wouldn’t have survived a day, and I doubt many adventures would agree to an escort quest. Especially in those lands.

Makes sense the date was bad, while she clearly is aware of him as a guy and potential romantic interest, Stark has not shown much indication he likes Fern in the same way, and suggested the date almost as a gotcha. I actually like that the date is what will jumpstart him feeling differently about her so there’s no boring back and forth of the “is she important to me because she’s a party member or because I like her” variety.

They're coworkers basically. It's easy to be around someone that long and not see them as a romantic partner. Seeing Fern in a different outfit unlocked something for Stark. It went from this is a coworker I see all day to "oh shit, Fern's cute?" It can be that easy sometimes.

i still prefer this kinda romance build-up between fern and stark than most other animes where a character falls in love just bcuz another character says ONE cool line n they be blushing like crazy. i've seen way too many characters be like that when it doesn't happen like that in real life

Fern obviously likes Stark to anyone looking outside but throughout the journey so far she never really tried to get to know him or form some common ground besides how they both deal with Freiren no wonder that's all they had as a conversation topic. Stark on the other hand is completely socially inept, and just didn't see Fern that way at first. While Fern took the date seriously he was utterly clueless on any subtle hints and just focused on doing the "optimal" thing to keep her happy. Heck the date was a joke from his end to start. Honestly, nice decision from the author to have it be "disappointing". We know these two have chemistry when they naturally interact. But now that the "idea" of seeing each romantically is seeded it can actually lead to more intentional action in that direction.

Exactly. I lived through it with hurricane sandy. Many of us didn't leave and people were stuck here for weeks because everything wasn't working. Same thing happened with hurricane katrina but that situation is more complicated.
