what a finale!

Zanni

At the cabin, older Helge literally says, "I've said this before." So actually yes, he remembers the encounter with himself. The same way older Jonas was talking to himself and said he eerily remembers being on the other end of the conversation. And at the end, don't get it twisted, middle-aged Helge did indeed just witness his own attempted murder/suicide💀 He straight up saw his own death happen right in front of his eyes, lmao. But even in 2019, as we saw, he kept pushing forward with the new goal to stop himself, convinced he could change the future…even though he really couldn’t. It's a tragic, endless loop for everyone.

Hanno

Season 1 came out in 2017, season 2 in 2019 and season 3 in 2020

A.

You keep forgetting that Helge has dementia. That explains any gaps in his memory, but even older Jonas is doing things he remembers being on the other end of. It's the constant struggle against fate and pre-determinism.

Ernie

ICH BIN DU 🔥

MonarchXIII

I haven't watched season 2 yet but why are they taking Noah being Ulrich's grandfather as fact just based off of an offhand comment about his grandfather being a pastor? I definitely didn't come to that definite conclusion. Although mind you I could get clapped up after watching more and it turns out they're right lol.

Divinerights

I mean you’ve already answered your own question but it’s clear the show does have a complicated family tree. This is neither confirmation nor denial as someone who has watched the show.

Hanno

Don't forget that he also get his head bashed in by Ulrich and then got into a car accident

MonarchXIII

Nah I get why they would assume that. But they're treating it as fact rather than a possibility.

girlygirl9983

24:59 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 “who’s that behind him”🫣 “it’s a barrel” 💀 32:59 LMAO the music, I love this one

Cuban Macaw

I just finished season 2 and holy fuck this show is peak

Divinerights

Just in case anyone asks and this is no spoiler. What older jonas did was stabilise the wormhole in the tunnels. Obviously we saw them use it but now it’s a clear pathway to travel +/- 33 years without a time travel box.

Hanno

Why is that little tower in 1986 where time travellers sleep 😂 Old Helge and young Jonas both slept there

C

I really like a show that respects its audience and engages you to really think about every detail. Also this is when I put pen to paper to begin tracking my thoughts on each character.

A.

I think there's a correlation between all the times he got his head bashed in and his dementia tbh.

A.

Wer bist du?? the show

Gilthwixt

How much do y'all remember from the end of Pantheon? Because that's where I'm at right now. I don't know what happens but I have to assume the loops work kind of the same way - everything is leading to a specific outcome that must perpetuate itself. Even if people could change the future, it simply branches off into a timeline that won't lead to the show's ending, making it irrelevant to the story.

A.

Yes, he was hoping his younger self would make better decisions! Helge's a really tragic figure.

A.

This is not a spoiler, but just so you know, Helge is pronounced more like Helga and not Helg! Same thing for Tronte sounding more like Tronta, not Tront.

girlygirl9983

i need to rewatch all of Season 1 again before they get into Season 2. i am still confused about a lot where are some Cliff Notes honestly

Araxiel

Bro that line "her husband, who's fucking my mom, is looking for his son, who's my father!" got to me again, made me burst out laughing how great it is. Like it's so absurd and funny but also absolutely a perfect and accurate description of what's happening and also so tragic. And the actor for Jonas is so damn good. It's still mind-bending how great the casting (and make-up) for the show is, where not only did they truly found a lot of good actors, they found actors who really look like older and younger versions of the same characters, and ALSO the children look genuinely like they could be the children of their parents.

Saphthings

Not you having me all scared because of a barrel xD LOL

Delinda Arts

naw this is like a completely different show experiencing it again with yall. Writers were writing like they was at gunpoint 😂

malfunct

crying actual tears at the barrel moment 😭 so much happens and is revealed in this finale but the crazy thing is, you're just at the beginning of a lot of character's journeys (claudia for one). can't wait for y'all to see the rest!

Hanno

Yeah in 1986 Ulrich was listening to a song with English lyrics and Egon walked in, stopped the song and repeated that line he heard Ulrich say in 1953. And to the question of why Egon doesn't bring it up, it's been 33 years

mysterioussfox

Do we have free will ? Is God good ? The writers must be high or something when they wrote this show.

s

roshi actually might be cookin w mikkel not being dead theory. That conversation him n Ines had 13:35, am i lookin too deep into it?

Hanno

I get that Ulrich is upset about his missing son but damn he did everything a time traveller could do wrong. He brought attention to himself, he looked crazy as hell, he left his phone behind and he got caught

Jaze

Best way to re-watch this show! They had me thinking I missed something with that barrel

Anon7524

39:08 He legitimately can't know in this type of paradox, and that's the troubling part😔

ciara

lmaoo the barrel got me too first watch

Mrlanie

I suspect Helge didn’t remember shit because he kept getting into traumatic brain incidents AND then developed dementia to boot lol

KingMarkoIII

Just to remind yall, helge has dementia as an older man . It’s fair though it was mentioned earlier in the season lol.

Jacob Livingston

Btw it doesn’t reset every 33 years. That’s just when the loop repeats itself. Everything that they are doing and everything they are going to do has already happened and will continue to happen. That is the cycle future Jonas is trying to break. And #1 the reason why they don’t remember seeing each other in the past/when they are young is bc nobody has reason to believe time travel in even a thing, it’s not even a thought. And secondly it’s not as easy as you might think to remember someone from 33 years ago. And remember helge has dementia, I’m sure he doesn’t remember a ton of stuff. Certain things seem to slowly come back to him.

Mrlanie

also sheera still getting clapped by time travel plots lmaooo

Delinda Arts

That was such a funny moment bc i thought they planted an easter egg in there too lmao

Denzelwya

See y’all in 2 weeks

Danielle

Killing a kid(well almost) and then walking around covered in blood in broad daylight, after he already caused a scene in front of multiple ppl. Then literally confessing to it outright. A clown

ManoLeBanano

24.58 im pretty sure jonah was behind him. i saw a yellow figure when i paused it.

ManoLeBanano

no jonah or somebody else was behind him. pause it at the right sec and youll see a yellow figure

Murphy

But Egon did bring it up, he repeated the lyrics teenage Ulrich was listening to in his room. And I think he remembered it, that is why he is obsessed with satanism and ask jonas about it.

Oni Legend

Bro the way you can see the stepping stones to how everything builds up and progresses all the way up to the big season 3 stuff. Like everything has a place and fits in but you don’t realize just how grand the game is until you know the full board

Atari

Ghoast of the barrel is crazy

Bleach Calaminator

9 days till The Peak of all Mediums: Steel Ball Run releases Everything that has been and will ever be watched and read is only mere stepping stones for it to run across.

Samuela Shannon

That's how you know this show is at another tier. Even Sheera isn't keeping up well😭And it's only up from here? Oh they finna be CLAPPED clapped

Zanni

Very much so : (

Zanni

It doesn’t ‘reset’ as in everyone magically loses their memories and forgets everything. It's the repetition of the 33-year time loop occurs, where the events of 1953, 1986, and 2019 recur endlessly, driven by the same causes and effects.

girlygirl9983

I went to 25:09, that tree behind the barrel, i can’t be sure but I see what you mean. Irdk it looks like it could be Jonah or just something in nature.

Esteban Morales

I will forever remember this episode as the "Barrel Incident"

Eric

The barrel is the new puppet.

Zanni

Yes, he develops dementia later on in life. But also No, Helge does indeed remember the encounter he had with himself by the cabin. He literally says it out loud as he takes off his hat.

Zanni

Yes, Helge develops dementia later on in life. But he does indeed remember the encounter he had with himself by the cabin. He literally says it out loud as he takes off his hat.

Juan G.

Wow this whole rewatch I thought I knew a spoiler about a character and now season 1 is done and this is as far as I watched and that imaginary spoiler I thought I knew was all in my head LMFAO love this show and can't wait to finally watch rest of it.

Just Gene

No it's not a literal cycle. It's called a 33 year cycle, because they can only travel between points connected by exactly 33 years. It's not as if 1953, 1986, and 2019 are the only points they can travel to, it's just that those are the only years that show takes place in. If you drew a line on a page, and then a circle overlapping it, the circle would cross the line at 2 points. As an example we can call those points 1953 and 1986. Now as time progresses, the circle moves along that line. After a year had passes, the circle would intersect the line at 1954 and 1987.

hokeypokey

Egon didn't repeat the lyrics because of Ulrich saying them, when Egon walks into the 86' Ulrichs room, he hears the lyrics in the music he is listening to and ask him why he listens to that music. Now Ulrich is repeating the lyrics to younger Egon because it was clearly a standout moment to him as he was dealing with Mads going missing and Egon coming across as harassing him. If I am Egon in the 50's I probs also don't remember this interaction with a crazy person 33 years down the line. Try to think about an interaction you had 33 years ago at work and it is probs hard to do xD

Zanni

I'm talking about RESET. By reset, don't they mean the repetition of the loop? I was speaking in regards to what Sheera said about it being about everyone forgetting. Now what I am saying is that when they say 'reset', it does not mean in the sense of 'wiping away memories.' Also, I already know that they can only travel between points connected exactly by 33 years. I wasn't disputing that.

HBK713🏄🏾‍♂️

Mannn I apologize to every/anybody in the chat who was hyping this show up cause I stop watching at Ep6 when it first drop but Dark one of them onez 💯 maybe catching CVID 19 made me lose interest idk 🤷🏿‍♂️ definitely will try to binge season 2 this weekend if I can

Kappa

have they seen the show chernobyl?

A.

I think it's funny we assume Egon is caught up in 80's satanic panic, but Ulrich is why he's obsessed with satanism and hates Ulrich in particular. The past doesn't just affect the future, the future affects the past.

Daniel Jacks

Two things 1. Helge has dementia it was mentioned a few times so he literally doesn’t remember that happening sure older him is on a mission but he’s basically walking through a fog 2. Most people don’t notice this but whenever time switches you’ll hear a clock tick

A.

People in this show have great memories though. I think Egon called out the song because the lyrics are the same as what an insane child murderer said to him. I think that's as much a standout moment to Egon as his meeting with Ulrich in the 80's is for Ulrich.

A.

I think middle Helge and Noah have been travelling back and forth via the cave wormhole though, we also see Jonas take a camping trip to 86 and come back home. It's just that middle-aged Jonas's attempt to destroy the wormhole in 1986 are what created it, but it still exists backwards and forwards through time so people can use it in 1953 or 2019 for example. Unless I'm missing something.

A.

I know, but that doesn't mean he remembers dying in the crash and the futility of trying to stop his past mistakes that way. A lot of things about Helge make sense when you realise he isn't playing with a full deck of cards.

King Medjai

I hope they know to skip and not read these comments that try to tell you what's going on. Let they get clap and figure it out.

Delinda Arts

I wish one of the characters said “strudel” at least once lmao.

Jacob Livingston

Just finished season 2 as well! HOLY SHIT!!!

PolarToni

What are you confused about?

Jacob Livingston

Yup. The decisions everybody makes, they think they are changing the loop when in reality their decision is what causes the repeated loop. It really is just fucking phenomenal writing. I cannot wait for them to through S2, I just finished S2 it only gets better and crazier. I haven’t had this much fun and hype watching a show other than GOT and severance. It’s right up there with those shows for me.

Jacob Livingston

S2 is insane man. I just finished it. It deadass continues to get better and crazier with each episode.

bark

This is like a few episodes back but one of the parents said only prostitutes wear lipstick and then the next episode we see Franziska wearing lipstick as well as the condoms by the cave and her telling Magnus that it's none of his business how she gets her money, I thought we'd get a confirmation or answer this season but I guess we'll wait for S2

George

Minor correction but if you are referring to Helge talking to his younger self, he does remember that meeting. That's why he mutters to himself, "I said this before." The thing that he might not fully remember is that he caused the car crash that he got in.

Iago

Jonas Racoon City

Iago

I just posted this and a guy named “Leon” liked it in less than a minute. That’s crazy

Himiko

By the way, the guy in the black paint Jonas keeps “seeing” is Mikkel/Michael, who was implied to be an artist

@just_benzo

Excellent excellent series

Valentino

They all got clapped by a barrel 😭

Murphy

Yeah It's a loop because if egon didn't quote these lyrics, Ulrich wouldn't have said them later

MBA

To help Roshi’s theory, Houdini was most famous for his death defying magic trick 👀

sol jam

Wow guys for a second I thought you caught something I didn't see on my first watch lol but oh boy season 2 will BLOW your minds

##

egon doesn't recognize the lyrics because he doesn't know English. it wasn't common in the 50s in germany to know English

Divinerights

What older Jonas did was reinforce the three timelines as clear 33 differences, prior to that the wormhole was weak and could take you elsewhere or collapse. Naturally they didn't show this because they want to keep everything in these 33 year periods, and not have one character in 1990.

CurseMark4Life

What we know is a drop, what we don't know is an ocean

Jay Craig

Helge hilarious bro he has people travelling through time constantly trying to kill him and he tanks it each time, then finally dies when he’s the one trying to do the clapping

PennyWhysTV

24:55 Clapped by a barrel 😭

Sam

Helge does remember talking to himself. That's why he said, "I've said that before" Edit: also he has dementia guys

cobra22

Helge does remember thats why he tries to stop himself however the one he is trying to stop hasnt been to the future yet so he has no recollection of being in a wreck

cobra22

his younger self doesnt die tho only the older one thats why he still is present in the jonas mikkel timeline

Alex

Plot twist, it was the barrel all this time

Jay Craig

Yeah ofc that’s what I’m saying that’s the second time someone travelled through time to kill him and he tanked it, the only thing that can kill him is travelling through time to kill someone himself

𝓓𝓪𝓷𝓪

Helge has dementia so yes he did not remember that

Seibahhh

nothing they do is "new" lmao how youre 10 episodes in and not get that also helge has severe dementia he cant remember any details

Sam

I can’t believe bartozs would believe a random murderers word over his own grandma

Chan

Y'all are impressive honestly this is like my fourth rewatch and I'm still figuring things out.

D Nice

1st season done, great, now time to get your brains sizzled in season 2

Hunter

Nah cause I swear I saw a hooded guy 😭

Seibahhh

not really lmao

Co

Sheera is something else. Her favorite line is, "that's what I said...[names something she most definitely didn't say]..."

Jmann

Lmaoooooo fax

Jmann

I’m dead at yall waiting for a headshot and it’s just a barrel 😭😭

blud

one thing im going to say is, they did a remarkable job in finding young versions of the actors. Like those young version actors and actresses did a phenomenal job is catching the vibe of their adult versions bro. Fucking A1 casting. Boris LOOKS like grown Aleksander and look at future Jonas?!?!!? he resembles younger Jonas so good oh my godd

Jamaal Ellison

Bro, that's wild. Martha was messing around with Jonas until his dad died. Then she started dating Bartosz. Jonas made his intentions clear with Martha, so she ghosted Bartosz and started up with Jonas until he dumped her. So she ran back to Bartosz, with him having no idea. It's an evil world we live in. Martha was messing with both of them Bartosz's mad at tge wrong person.

Sleepy Ninja

Yooo this is actually funny bc I thought I was the only one that noticed haha but they’re all hilarious though. Reactions are always top notch! Thats why they’re my favorite reactors 😁

Sleepy Ninja

Is Season 2 super confusing???

Sleepy Ninja

Hear me out… what if everyone in that town are relatives just making babies.

janelle

her brother was kidnapped in the middle of all of this so smart decision making is not to be expected tbh. that’s the actual reason she ghosted bartosz

janelle

what a boring way to watch a show. the joy is in theory crafting

Prune Chips

Helge having dementia is definitely known at this point. It's why his son is so suspicious of everything he says

Teddy McDonald

"I knew he was gonna score 70" - LeSheera

Teddy McDonald

Barrelgate joining egg theory and the bed from Vinland S2 😂

NiyaNii

YESS1 i was literally thinking how Katarina and mikkel's older actors look so similar to them, it's absolutely insane, like they could be related.

Himiko

This is what spurred you to think it’s an evil world and not, you know, the missing dead children…

blud

literally i havent seen any other show do it like this bro fucking crazy

Jamaal Ellison

Jonah got hit with the time tested "excuse me, sir. Does this smell like chloroform to you?!"

Heather

i would'nt doubt that, like a decedent from the future.

5lime

i HATE that shyt

Neji Hyuga

Lmfaooo I’m glad someone else noticed😂😂

PennyWhysTV

i lowkey did too. i had to rewind it lol

Heather

bro there is no way theyre not related in some way

Heather

i'm pretty sure they think he was faking it

Heather

What example do you have from this video, because i feel like sometimes yall dont remember the stuff she says lol

Heather

lol im pretty sure they think he was faking it

Heather

This is creative spoiling

MBA

*Spoiler for anyone who hasn’t finished the series* He’s actually dead and I was just fueling Roshis theory because I thought it was interesting lol

Heather

So yeah I spoiled myself with the show, and yeah I apologize to everyone who said the great clappening will happen and talking about having to rewatch it multiple times, I thought yall was just being pretentious. But i was just curious to see who noah is because he just seems to be the final peice of the puzzle but boy I fell into a rabbit whole, and this has to the most intriquite plot ive ever seen. I'm just more confused by the spoilers than anything, this show is a lot more complex and intersting than i thought, season 1 doesnt even really seem to prepare you for the soon to be upcoming insanity. Anyways, i'm just gonna let them finnish season 2 before i start. They aint ready for this, see yall in May.

SnailSpray

im not entirely sure if theyve mentioned it but this entire season ive just been waiting for the reason future jonas has a huge scar on his neck. i assumed going into their last interaction that jonas would end up nearly dying but ig its for a future season. im very surprised the gang hasnt noticed his scar

DsWorldd •

24:40 yall just watched old helge say “I remember saying that before” showing that this is a repeat of something he remembers going through in his past

Saint

The complexity of the plot is sort of balanced out by familiarity with the characters. If you're not fried by season 1 you can keep up with the rest.

DsWorldd •

Bro this whole town’s relationship issues are messy asf Martha’s situation is just the tip of the iceberg atp lmao

DsWorldd •

To be fair he’s more familiar with the random stranger Noah atp than his grandma he thought was dead all his life😂

DsWorldd •

@Divinerights Charlotte says several episode ago that “helge is old and has dementia” when ulrich is pressing him.

DsWorldd •

Funny enough his dementia probably results from head trauma from the accident

Jamaal Ellison

If someone introduced a strain of a deadly STD in this town, the town would-be fucked over the course of one generation.

DsWorldd •

Yall are a lil fixated on the “existing in the same timeline at once” it’s not shown to be impossible since older Jonas has been talking to younger Jonas time and time again, same thing with Helge. And Michael/Mikkel. So far the show hasn’t given us reason to think the world will implode if this is the case.

DsWorldd •

It’s more likely he doesn’t recognize them immediately cuz it’s been 33 years since he heard it . He picked up on the lyrics or vibe at the very least since he asked if ulrich was a satanist.

DsWorldd •

The 3 of them do that here and there which gets them confused when the show contradicts it since they’ve cemented their theory as a fact😭

Karabo

By the way , that was the Tutorial. Now Dark can actually begin. prepare to not be prepared.

Divinerights

Yes really because it takes Jonas until the end of the last season to figure this out. The entire show is them trying to fight it.

Divinerights

Not sure what that has to do with me

blud

im saying yo

briana

In this show, pretty much everything shown is very intentional as someone who has seen this several times now. There are a couple of things that are just coincidental or small consequences but there's really no one in here who doesn't serve a purpose.

Tulip

s2 is peakk

Emiliano Ruiz Chong

Then, the kid Helge (1) from 1953 got transported to 1986, where the adult Helge (2) works at the nuclear plant and for Noah, both of them existing at the same time. Further into the timelines, kid Helge (1) turns into adult on 2019 while old Helge (2) is at the hospital (senior home?). Then, even further, already becoming old Helge (1), time travels to 1986 to stop the adult Helge and dies at car incident. Wow, CRAZY.

AnnaSama

Martha's actions make more sense at the end of season two, but we know that she was extremely hurt when she was told that Jonas had left after his father's death to go have sex with girls in Paris. When Jonas told her that he was actually in a mental hospital, she realized that she'd been hurt over a lie.

AnnaSama

The barrel! 😂😂 Honestly, the spooky vibes can definitely get to you with this show

Carson

Aye when it comes to a show that requires a lot of brain power these niggas start getting angry it be funny when one of the two say something wrong this nigga roshi be finna kill them niggas on the spot 😭

Warui Yang

ngl idk if im right or wrong but low key im feeling like noah might just might be Jonas's friend, we see future Jonas setting our Jonas on his path and Noah have been secretly telling this kid and trying to convince him and stuff idk if we have seen future Bartosz or not but i might just be reaching idk i feel like Noah is just future Bartosz bc this kid have so many scene and ur telling me hes not important to the plot idk.

DsWorldd •

I hear it lool, show’s already confusing enough without being gaslit wrong info by ur friends😭

Aaron Johnson

That barrel was hella menacing though

Nita - Kento's Widow

Dark one of them ones, sad I didn't watch this series when it was releasing

Rakudai

How it works in most European elderly homes is that the elderly aren't forced to live there. If they want to, they can tell you they want to leave and most of the time no ones is allowed to legally intervene unless they aren't physically or mentally capable. My mom worked in a place like that, they've had issues like that all the time. In the end they chase them sometimes, but they cant stop them since they're legally allowed to leave.

kai. 🩶

i got clapped by the barrel too lmao

Bria A.

I'm not saying "Noah" can't be a pseudonym but it's strange that they would give this character a name (or a title maybe? like the biblical Noah?) but deliberately hide the identity of older Jonas until this very moment. Like based on the way this show is structured they probably would've paired the Jonas reveal with Noah telling Bartosz almost the exact same thing afterwards, but they didn't do that.

Bria A.

I don't think adult Helge exists at all in 2019; the only time we see adult him is in 1986. Fairly sure kid Helge manages to get back home (original 1953 timeline) somehow because it's the only way his timeline makes sense at all. If he doesn't get back then there is no nuclear plant Helge in 1986 whatsoever.

Bria A.

It's also very much not "him having no idea" because she literally told Bartosz she fucked up lmao. If we wanna play Dodging Accountability Olympics it's Hannah all day every day for me. (Also until I'm told or shown otherwise I've always felt weird about however Bartosz spun the story about Jonas's absence and ended up with Martha in the first place. If it was mutual or whatever then fine, but it reads as a "the guy I like doesn't like me and disappeared, and now someone else is showing interest" relationship of convenience. Which I guess is typical of teenagers, but ykwim.)

Jamaal Ellison

Hannah is the living embodiment of the meme "My dick has led me to places I would never go without my gun". Like men really aren't shit. Cause I'm fully aware she's batshit crazy and yet. I appreciate the love she has For Urich he was married and knew he had no business fucking Hannah his adopted brothers/son's wife. I'd kinda love for that love to find me. Just a toxic mess willing to ruin me if she couldn't have me.

L1NG

41:00 he has dementia so j dint think he remembers being in a crash, he remembered meeting his older self it seemed tho

TChang23

That barrel bit was the funniest thing I’ve seen in awhile thank yall for the much needed laugh lmao

Ayanda Mpofu

Can't believe i got dragged into ur barrel bullshit 🤣.

naa

Dark today? 👀

Honored one

I'm fried in season one unfortunately 😭🤣

joshua rosario

so are they going to continue watching dark??

Aby

Martha isn’t that much worse than anyone else in this town lol, affected by grief as she is. What really bugs me is Bartosz’ double standard. Being able to instantly forgive the person who cheated on you while beating up the one she cheated with… I mean, this is something that always seems to happen but it bugs me. Spoiler Especially since Bartosz stays angry at Jonas forever while idolizing Martha even after she stops being interested in him. Like he doesn’t even forgive or at the very least become concerned about his (supposed) best friend after he’s assumed kidnapped for months at the beginning of the next season. This endless grudge while hopelessly thirsting after a girl who doesn’t like him just gives me secondhand embarrassment…

john segun doe

I remember being sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo invested in the Ulrich story as well most initially. Maybe cuz it was the first storyline with the future with the son and shit

firstsinus

crazy to think that the picture of ulrich has been there since episode one ☠️ imagine finding that on accident

Dyastro123

Is the pastor/Noah the same person as Regina's son?

emma

Bro the barrel folded Me and I‘ve watched this shit like 10 times 😭

Rissa2003MM

Whoever directed, produced, or wrote the entire script for DARK is a legend. This show really has me thinking and getting answers when due. I still watch the FROM series but season 4 needs to pick up the pace since we are back to having zero answers and a 10,000 questions to ask. It would be useful if the writers for that show gave more easter eggs or hints to getting the hell out. One thing I do think about now is that unlike other characters in the show that traveled through time or connected the dots. So, Mikkel (Micheal) got stuck in the past right. He didn't just think after leaving the cave and finding out he is in the wrong "When" or "Year". Instead he wasn't like alright I'll head back through the same cave to see if I can retrace my steps back to my home (time period; present)? The thought never occurred to him? Or did perhaps someone or future Jonas (his son) just stop him from changing anything at the moment?
