i will say as a manga reader the directors are TRIPPIN with the narration mid high movement animation, its one thing to narrate this stuff in the manga on still panels, but it doesn't work in anime, at least not to sub watchers, i wish they would take some artistic direction with those scenes to split up the narration and animation somehow, i dont blame yall for not reading that shit, but the info IS important to know so id go back to read it, as these abilities are things u should know for the future (trust me)

TLDR on the yap fest: HWB and SD do not nullify a cursed technique, (like domain amplification does, à la when Jogo and Hanami used it against Gojo in Shibuya), it nullifies the guaranteed hit of a domain. But since Megumi’s domain is incomplete, he doesn’t have a guaranteed hit, so HWB means nothing in this fight

I think the problem with it is that they often over explain certain things that really could just be dumb down and simplified such as with this episode. they really didn't need to spend a minute yapping about the hollow wicker basket and it could have a much simpler explanation.

Maybe unpopular opinion but I love the narration during fights, its a very stylistic choice, like another comment mentioned, this was done plenty by HxH especially during Chimera Ant arc stair fight, except it stretched what was a.. what.. couple of minutes if that in real time (probably shorter).. I have not watched it in years, into a multi episode ordeal, while JJK does it in real time. If your like me and used to fast subtitles (thank you, Mongatari) or just read fast in general then it is no problem to keep up and if you don't read fast it encourages multiple viewings, meaning you get to absorb more information, wether visually with the fights or the explanation, in two different goes. Win/Win for both sides in my opinion.

Same the narration over certain scenes adds a level of gravatas to the fight as if being recounted to us in a far-flung future by Tengen & it allows the scene to move forward without the characters themselves (for the most part) having to stop or internal monologue about what's happening. Never had an issue keeping up with the scene and the subtitles at the same time and on the rare occasion I do miss something, I just rewind lol

100%, best example of the opposite way of doing it this season is Hell's Paradise, which I love don't get me wrong, but the "stop the action - cut to character facing the camera explaining what is happening in a flash back - cut back to action" is not the best. The Malevolent Shrine scene in Season 2 was already great but add the OST and the narration and it's a perfect scene, I could not imagine it without the narration explaining how devastating everything that is happening is, also helps that Tengen just has a unique voice and cadence as well.

I think another problem is, yes while the narration unlike HxH is heavily overlapping with intense actions scenes. JJK in general also has a LOT of terminology and concepts that are similar yet with different names so its hard to wrap your head around what is what. In Hunter x Hunter the details of nen are discussed during training arcs but for most of the show the vocabulary is reduced to the essentials and it is repeated often enough throughout and ontop of that it has uncomplicated names that are distinct from another yet short.

Its just hard to deal with. I found myself having to rewind like 3 times during Yuji vs Higuruma because I want to see the amazing animation but I also don't speak Japanese. I'm sure its more palatable in the dub where you can listen the narration and watch the action. In sub its just too much to pay attention to on one watch which reactors will struggle with because most people don't want to see them rewinding 2-3 times in a video

Completely understandable, but if the alternative would be messing with the actual pace of the fight or flow of the show in general, I think most people would choose this version over a bunch of inner monologues or stop and explain/flashback moments for sure. In terms of dub vs sub, I think having the narrator being Tengen's voice works extremely well not just being pleasant to the ears but also a subtle bit of world building for how powerful and omnipresent Tengen is in general, vs just a generic narrator so that tips heavily in the subs favor as well, but it is good that we have multiple ways to consume this anime for sure.

All in one: Domain = barrier that can be imbued with things Domain expansion= barrier +space space manifest your technique,since its unique to you gives you stat boost. Barrier is imbued with your technique which gives guaranteed hit. Domain amplification = empty barrier making any technique it touches flow in it. Like dropping ink in a ball of water. Gojo turned his drop of ink into a jet thats why jogo and hanami couldnt touch him. Hollow whisker basket = ancestor of simple domain. It doesnt disrupt the technique directly but the barrier itself which in turn disrupt the guaranteed hit. Megumi didnt have a guaranteed hit. So reggie essentially stood there like an idiot

Usually whenever anyone gets brought up it's "They're the absolute best at it, besides Satoru Gojo". Even in other cases like with Yuta at the end, it only says that he's able to rival Gojo in terms of "unusual abilities", not in actual fighting strength

So the way I understood the beginning explanation, techniques like Simple Domain and Hollow Wicker Basket (Simple Domain's predecessor) protect you by nullifying the barrier itself, which protects you from the sure hit but not from any other sort of attack that comes your way. I guess this means techniques like Domain Amplification(what Hanami and Jogo used to get past limitless) and Falling Blossom emotion might be superior, as they can defend from sure hits and curse techniques by responding directly to the technique itself regardless of a barrier. DA is better than FBE in my opinion because it also has the potential for nullifying defensive cursed techniques all while keeping your hands free for cqc

So to explain a simple domain it’s not a domain expansion. A domain expansion uses a barrier technique to usually seal a target inside and using that, the cursed energy in the domain is freely controlled by the sorcerer who casted it so he can use his technique more effectively. A simple domain is essentially a fire blanket in an inferno you’ll get burned but it will help reduce the chance of every flame hitting you.

sadly reggies last words don´t hit as hard as they did in the manga. One of the big topics in JJK is sorcerers mostly dying with regrets or pettiness. The last words spoken by a jujutsu sorcerer have the power to LITERALLY curse others. We have seen that happening with Yuta cursing Rika or Principle Masamichi cursing Yaga (although that was kind of a special case imo. just felt different to me but essentially is the same thing). Then we have cases such as Nanami, who is refusing to curse Yuji, literally saying "I can´t say such things . This could become a curse on him" or Nobara chosing pleasant last words. So Reggies last words "Let fate toy with you a bit, and die a fool" are a curse put upon Megumi. It´s something that u just read over and pay no mind to it but that shit is serious.

Just to explain in case ya'll didn't go back and watch it. The reason Hollow Wicker Basket didn't protect Reggie from Megumi's domain is that Megumi's domain doesn't have a barrier. What HWB does is basically create a bubble inside of a domain that is in itself a simple domain to protect the user. But on it's own out in the open it does nothing. So basically since Megumi didn't put up a barrier, meaning Reggie could leave if he could find the exit, Reggie's HWB was like trying to protect with a shield while being stabbed in the back

Idk if you remember, but when Megumi & Itadori entered the barrier, they got separated. Itadori was able to go to Colony 1, where he found the person they were looking for, while Megumi ended up in Colony 2, where the Angel they technically were looking for is at.
