I hope you guys react to Fate/Grand Order at some point in the near future. It will give you a lot of much needed lore. And overall just a great watch. I will post a watch order for it in the last episode.

DIOR

I really appreciate yall pulling through and finishing this show. I know it’s borderline impossible to comprehend.

DIOR

Yall need to stop asking them to watch FGO 😭 it would be an utter dogshit reaction, nobody wanna see Fujimaru lame ass, especially out of context. They’re better off watching Kara no Kyoukai than a glorified commercial.

Silverhawk

Some key info: Tsubaki’s servant, now revealed as one of the horseman of the apocalypse, is a concept of nature rather than a person. As such, it doesn’t have a personality BUT because it was summoned by the comatose Tsubaki, her wishes reached it and is trying to make a world where she is happy. The only way it knows to do that is through death, as shown by everything turning black. If everything turns black inside the reality marble, it’ll reflect onto the real world and kill everyone on the planet. Jester knows this and egged her on to be a “magician” to kick off the apocalypse and torment fake assassin by presenting her with impossible decisions By magician, it is meant to be different from a “‘mage” rin, Flats, waver etc are mages. Anything phenomenon thst also uses science is called magecraft(Rins gems for example) HOWEVER, anything that straight up defies logic and physics is called magic, and only Zlwech(butchered the name but the guy in the chair from the 1hr long special of Strange/fake) is the known magician. So basically, jester is leading Tsubaki to break the laws of physics and do something so horrid and crazy only magic can make it come true(holy grail is also using the “Third Magic” to grant wishes) The godfelling crossbow is likely the catalyst that was supposed to be Tsubaki’s servant, but the bacteria accidentally activated and summoned Pale Rider instead. Hence why they are ephemeral. That’s all I got so far, I hope this helps I know it’s been rough the past few weeks lmao

Oni Legend

We’re not gonna sit here and act like the FGO animes themselves aren’t notorious for trimming a bunch of shit and going with the flow just for the sake of more hype and aura moments of god tier animation

Joni A

Not impossible, just basic fate knowledge. The rest gets explained in the show itself so far, just a matter of paying attention.

DIOR

btw the fansubs yall used for the edit is actually 100x more accurate than whatever tf Crunchyroll shat out. Same ones I use to watch the episodes. It would actually be slightly easier to understand certain things if yall didn’t watch the CR version they butchered multiple things weekly.

Tyrese Marshall

Lost too, still my favourite animated Fate series

DIOR

No the fuck it is NOT “basic fate knowledge”. I hate when yall say stupid shit like this, it just makes it very blatant you dunno wtf you’re talking about. “Paying attention” isn’t going to fucking remotely fill in any missing pieces of the puzzle for literally anyone with rudimentary knowledge of anything TM related.. basic fate knowledge in itself equates to having seen FSN and Fate Zero. Niggas just be sayin shit for the sake of it fuckin goofball.

Xemnas27

Lmaooo fr all the Fate references are going over my head here. I’m just here for the ride ngl

Helpy

Random bullshit GO!

Imari

Lmfao this show is insane

Oni Legend

You know Roshi you a real nigga man i appreciate you for being straight up and honest about being lost because there is a lot of moving pieces and Strange Fake is known for not holding hands about all the universe lore stuff(makes it a great read if you are familiar with it tho) So for what its worth, here’s as cliffnotes stripped down version of the current events as possible: -Tsubaki’s parents hoed her and experimented on her Eri-style to make her a good mage(and were content harvesting her body while she was in a coma), her parents also got their methods from Zouken(the old bug nigga from Zero and shit) -Because they used bacteria science to hoe Tsubaki, whenever she accidentally summoned a Heroic Spirit, it resulted in her having better chances of SOMEHOW summoning a Horseman of the Apocalypse -Said Horseman(Death/Pestilence) is not a conscious person. It is literally an autonomous system carrying out a list of duties as dictated by its Master. “Make my parents love me” equals “Bet i’m gonna possess them” -Jester being the bitch made nigga he is takes advantage of this and tricks Tsubaki into saying “Make me a Magician” which to Pale Rider becomes “Bet i’m gonna kill everyone so you can get the Holy Grail and become a Magician” -Right now Flat is working with Waver and Enkidu to create a path out kinda like when Megumi was trying to make an escape hole in Dagon’s domain during Shibuya. This is only possible because Pale Rider’s lil domain is an exact copy of the real world and in the real world Tine and Enkidu are currently using magecraft to bring back Gilgamesh so its like a beacon to make their way back -Don’t worry about the whole random spirit thing Tsubaki was talking to

HaruhiDream

You probably don't understand the seriousness of Tsubaki saying she wants to be a Magician so I will explain it for you guys. All of the mages is Fate are Magus. Tohsaka, Shiro, Waver. All of them. They use magecraft. Magicians however use True Magic and there are only 5 users in existence in the fate universe. It is normally impossible to obtain True Magic, but it can he accomplished with the holy grail. That means that Pale Rider is most likely going to be on demon time now. Tsubaki just didn't want to be alone up until this point, so he was filling her world with animals and people. But now she said she wants to be a Magician. I think you can picture what will happen next.

_monjiro

I love fansubs when they are done right. This episode is a damn good showcase of them being better than whatever CR shits out...

Lash

The woman talking to tsubaki is not her servant. She probably was ment to be, but due tsubakis parents being on bullshit she summond the pale rider instead

Water

Nigga u mad ASF for no reason shut ya mouth

_monjiro

We had the same idea twin 😂

DIOR

It’s kind of unsettling how inaccurate the CR subs are for this show. I usually watch them before the fansubs drop and I started noticing the decline got worse and worse since the episode where Ishtar first appeared so I went back and watched the first couple episodes and these mfs are straight up mistranslating shit just for the sake of it. 💀

Itanna

Jeez relax it’s just a tv show lol

Zeke

There's 1 more episode left for this season. Season 2 has already been confirmed. To clear up the confusion: >The reality marble is reflecting the real world periodically. >The reality marble is like an artificial underworld. That + them standing in the same spot Gilgamesh's corpse is being treated is why they can contact the outside world. >The little girl's servant is revealed to be Pale Rider. One of the 4 horseman of the apocalypse which explains the artificial underworld. >Tsubaki (the little girl) saying she wants to be a magician can only be done if she wins the holy grail. Basically, she unknowingly ordered Pale Rider to kill everyone to win the grail.

sip

Fujimaru's lame ass is not important, but babylonia is worth watching just because of gil tbh

sip

Tbh, going only by the fate animes, the "i want to be a magician" line will not be registered as the ridiculous statement that it is

Shockzz1234

Brother I've only seen Zero, Babylonia and the Stay Night stuff (original series, Ufotable one and the movies) and I still get most of what's going on. Idk why people are acting like it's super confusing lol.

Shockzz1234

What fansubs are they using? I need those now lol

Zeke

Right? The kaleido subs make the story far easier to digest. The official subs are making things way more confusing than they need to be.

DIOR

Don’t nun piss me off more than a retarded muhfucka on the internet saying shit that’s not even remotely true lmao! Get yo stupid ass tf off my comment spreading misinformation. If the shit is so basic then gon head and write an explanation of who Jiao is and their closest related character in Fate. Doing that alone would expose how fucking retarded you are, considering you need to play at least 400 hours of a mobile game to get that information.. It’s pitiful how fucking low some of you niggas IQs are and I hate that I have to exist in a world with you scum.

_monjiro

Oh ong they suck. I get that they pretty much have an hour from the time it drops in Japan to subtitle it for release overseas, but some things are just straight up incorrect and shouldnt be. *COUGH* *COUGH* MALEVOLENT KITCHEN *COUGH* Most times dialogue from a show is just ripped from the manga so the fact they they still manage to fuck it up sucks to see. It honestly pisses me off how much they get away with due to their monopoly on streaming rights and the fact that most fans will have no idea what details are omitted or speech pattetns outright changed bc they dont speak JP and they have to trust the translation is accurate. Its way too common place nowadays. Not saying translating and localizing is easy by any means, but they def have the resources to produce something better. Fansubs are goated in their own way and I wish they were more common. Anyways rant over lol

Zeke

They're the kaleido subs

Victor

About what happened to Tsubaki, it is difficult to remember because some of the events happened in episode 0, but basically her parents planned to summon someone else as Servant. Things went wrong during the summoning, and Pale Rider was summoned instead, and her parents were affected by the diseases from him. Because Tsubaki is in a coma but she wishes to be able to live normally with everybody, Pale Rider aka Mr. Black created this Reality Marble mimicking the real world, pulled creatures and her parents into this world; Flat and co. were sucked in this world during the fight. About why Pale Rider went crazy at the end, it is because Tsubaki wished for her parents to become "Magician". The wording is very important here. Magician are people who are able to use True Magic, which have been almost extinct since the Age of Gods. What everybody else in the series have been used is not "magic" but "magecraft", so they are called "Mages". It is similar to Rengoku from Demon Slayer when he is adamant about calling his breathing technique "Flame Breathing" instead of "Fire Breathing". So, if Magician is extinct, the only way to fulfill her wishes is winning the Holy Grail war and make a wish. At the end Pale Rider wants to wipe out everybody here, and then the rest of the masters and servants outside of this bounded field to fulfill her wish, and that poor girl has no idea what she has just done.

_monjiro

The text effects with noble phantasms when the reality marble (or cerberus?) speaks is also a nice touch. Adds just enough flare without being too distracting. Kinda old example of a time when fansubs were more of a thing and a bit too over the top is the SAO OP "Ignite" by Eir Aoi. Im p sure you can find it on YT still. Its fun to see what passion looks like every now and then

Coatl45

In other words, this is GGs. Ain’t nobody walking away from this one.

Isaiah Maldonado

WHEN IS YALL GONNA WATCH PEAKY BLINDERS THE IMMORTAL MAN!!!!!!!

Coatl45

That thing that Waver said about dreams connecting with the afterlife is a real belief in folklore. In the Hellenistic Greek pantheon, Thanatos, the God of Death, and Hypnos, the God of Sleep, are twin brothers, making the realms of Death and Sleep inextricably intertwined. It’s not just a Greek belief, either. Most cultures’ earliest beliefs said that the dead can speak with the living through dreams. Maybe it was just born of wishful thinking, or maybe there’s some truth to it. Only the dead and the gods can say, and they’re currently not telling anyone.🤫

BZD

By the way Makiri are the Matou’s. The dad was idolizing the family that threw Sakura into the pit of worms back in Fate/Stay Night

BZD

Where did we get told that if everything turns black in the reality marble it’ll kill stuff in the real world?

BZD

Also, Jester isn’t trying to make her do something so horrid and crazy that only true magic would make it come true. He’s trying to give her the goal of reaching true magic, and because that goal requires the grail, Pale Rider is going to go all out and try to win the war.

Denn B

Mentioning Fate/Aprocrypha day 567

BZD

FGO is probably the part franchise that has the least amount of pertinent info for strange fake. Especially since it was released after Strange Fake already started. Though the fight scenes are pretty cool in the movies and show.

Anzor Wilson

Fate strange fake actually has a direct tie in to fgo Babylonia. It caused a very dangerous and funny situation to occur.

Coatl45

What lovely people the Kurugis are. I would say that they got what they deserved, getting killed and mind controlled by their unknowing daughter and her semi-divine servant, if it didn’t guarantee the death of the entire gods damned planet.

matthew

I think the hide n seek lady (Jiao) was originally supposed to be fake rider but because tsubaki’s parents infected her with that bacteria it must screw up summoning ritual and end up summoning pale raider along with her. And when that happened she was trap here deep within this reality marble and couldn’t form physically body or communicate with tsubaki because pale rider was around tsubaki all time that it blocked there connection

P. A.

- The original plan of the parents is to use that bacteria they found in order give a push to her magic circuits. It's similar to the dick worms used by Zouken Matou from Fate Stay night (as refferenced by the father). Once they achieve that, they were going to use Tsubaki to summon a servant. Preparations were made in the underground laboratory. - When Tsubaki met the chick/dude in the laboratory, he/she pointed to sigma towards the crossbow. The crossbow was sitting on a small table, atop a summoning circle. They were supposed to use the summoning circle, together with the crossbow as a catalyst to summon a different heroic spirit. The spirit who peaced out is most likely an echo of what was supposed to be summoned. The spirit told Sigma to show all of this shit to a magus for more clarification, so most likely we will find out later who was the servant that was supposed to be summoned. - Tsubaki entering a coma because of the bacteria, as confirmed by the father, was an unforseen accident. - Tsubaki woke up in a "dream world" where she was alone. Her situation, together with the command seals and prolly other details as to how it works triggered the summoning ritual and summoned Mr. Black, which is actually Pale Rider (one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse). - The dream world created by Tsubaki was initially something that was happening in her consciousness, but because Pale Rider was there, it got expanded into a reality marble which engulfed reality to a small scale initially, expanding further because Tsubaki in the beggining episodes said something among the lines of "i wish to have more friends here with me". So Pale Rider just followed her wish and "contaminated" the surrounding wildlife and humans as it was shown as the story progressed. Animals started to get infected (report that was checked by Faldeus), humans ending up in hospitals with bruises and so on. - Pale Rider is able to do all of this because this reality marble he created is one of his noble phantasms and is very akin to Tsubaki's dream world, except it is a pseudo-underworld. The only reason it looks like Snowfield is because Pale Rider is influenced strongly by Tsubaki's impression. Otherwise, you would prolly have a hell landscape instead. - If you are asking why there are multiple Cerberuses, it's because of his other noble phantasm. To keep it simple, Pale Rider can do w.e. the fuck he wants in his reality marble. And because this is a pseudo-underworld, the Cerberus is actually alot stronger due to its lore, hence why the police homies and Saber are having a hard time killing them. - Why Jester is in 2 places at same time is probably one of his abilities. He is a vampire, so i assume it's a familiar taking his child visage in order to give a push to Tsubaki. Maybe someone else in the comments has better knowledge on this. - The reason the reality marble is going crazy rn is because initially Tsubaki didn't really express what was her greatest wish. Because of that, Pale Rider didn't really act aside from what i mentioned above. Now that Jester tricked her into expressing her dearest wish, that basically triggered the start button for Pale Rider to participate in the holy grail war and manifested himself. - The reason Pale Rider acts like this because technically Pale Rider was not a human, but more like a "system" or "curse" as said in previous episodes by different characters. It acts more like a program than a human with critical thinking or emotions. That's why the voice lines or the subtitles were unnatural. - Now everyone has to find a way to get out, because them just being inside the reality marble will eventually kill them. - About the part of Saber not taking it serious, maybe i am wrong, but i think he did use Ayaka's mana. 2 episodes ago, when Hansa (the priest) and Ayaka were inside the church, he was asking her if she was ok because he knew Saber was spamming excaliburs against Gilgamesh. She was chill about it which surprised him and led him to ask her "what in the world are you?". Normally a magus shouldn't be chill when his servant spams noble phantasms all willy nilly. - The most likely reason as to why Tine is able to supply alot of mana to Gilgamesh is because she is able to tap into the Snowfield Leylines since she is a native resident. She is basically like a conduit. Otherwise she probably would've died in episode 0 when Gilgamesh went wild against Enkidu (and used EA aswell). - One of the reasons as to why Richard is holding back is because of Ayaka, fearing of running her dry on mana and kill her eventually (even though she has more than any normal human). The other reason is tied to his backstory. We got few hints on this: he idolizes Arthur Pendragon (aka Saber from FSN) and him wanting to live up to the legend of "king of knights". He wants to become something as grand as King Arthur but he never managed to achieve that, ending up believing he is not worthy of even being called a "king". The same goes with his Noble Phantasm, where he can imagine anything he picks up as being Excalibur. He has no sense of real identity like most heroic spirits do. Most of Richard's powers are drawn from his admiration for King Arthur, making him a "Fake". Hence why Gilgamesh was reprimanding him 2 episodes ago, and we know Gilgamesh hates fakers *wink wink Shirou*. - The other part was pointed out by fake assassin (the chick), back when Richard was fighting Enkidu to create an alliance. When Fake Assassin showed up, she mentioned how Richard was a brutal warlord and took part in the crusades where one of her predecessors was also part of. Richard killed thousands of muslims at the time and this was depicted also through several mural frames displayed throughout the anime. He has alot of blood on his hands and he only feels guilt because of it, leading to the mental shackles he imposed upon himself so he doesn't repeat same mistake in Snowfield with all the civilians involved. - There is also the part with the music mentioned by Ayaka, but maybe that will be explained later. - So yea, King Richard has an inferiority complex, so hopefully Ayaka will pull him out of it so he can go all out. - The cookies created at the end of the episode by True Caster actually has a meaning. They are most likely honey cookies, because in the Cerberus myth, the trojan hero Aeneas used a honey cake with sleeping medicine to feed Cerberus, making him fall asleep, allowing Aeneas to pass the dog and travel to the Underworld. So most likely the Cerberus dogs will be falling asleep next episode. - There should be 1 more episode left, which i guess is how they get out of the reality marble.

Shockzz1234

Tears in my eyes, you must be the easiest person to ragebait in the world. Anyway, firstly, I've watched Case Files, I forgot to include it (because it was mid tbh). For the Ayaka stuff, the show fills you in on enough details to clue you up - there's two of them, one is real, one is...FAKE like the title implies, guessing the blonde one is the fake, they'll probably explain more later on as most series do. For the Red Riding Hood stuff - Nah, I don't completely get it but I get enough that it's a ghost/spirit haunting Ayaka (and the city as a whole). Your problem is thinking you need to understand every little reference and nuance to enjoy it or understand most of it. You think you need to know everything to get the basic plot of the series. You don't. A lot of these things are just easter eggs for hardcore Fate fans, but the core story is mostly easy to get from just...watching the show lol. Just having basic Fate knowledge is good enough. Also, your problem is thinking the series won't explore, hint at or ever flat out explain what's going on. Like every other fucking Fate series does. They KNOW this shit needs context of a few other things to make complete sense, so they're gonna eventually explain it for people who haven't read/watched/played other stuff. Again like every other Fate series does. Do you think everyone knew everything about all of FSN when it first came out? Or Babylonia? Or any other Fate anime? The answer is no, but the anime eventually explained it. Because that's what series do. And this one is no different. I get most of what's happening, and the things I don't get, I'm having fun theorising about and most of it will be explained. It is not "borderline impossible" to understand lol. So relax, stop cursing like a 10 year old who just discovered the words, and stop crying lol.

Tom Elias

holy thesis 😭 buddy got a degree in Fateonomics

Kevin

I thought the HGW had rules in place that kept you from summoning too strong of a servant. How is it fair she could summon the Pale Rider? It should essentially be unbeatable…no?

PhaedrusRumple

It’s a shame they probably won’t read your comment, but it definitely puts things into a better perspective!

PhaedrusRumple

Doesn’t help that they’re cutting so much supporting details

Pan Cakes

since they broke the rules and broke past the limit of servants u can summon, that doesnt apply anymore. normally when the limit of 7 servants is broken a ruler also gets summoned to observe the war and make sure no fuckery happens. but they were able to bypass having a ruler summon due to the fake/true thing going on so no more ruler class servant.

DatKid_Kaneki

bro they said since the beginning this is something beyond a regular war. anything can happen. i mean for gods sake a servant and the master is the same person

Zero_0

Just to save you guys from a little bit of more research since i havent sees anyone comment who Pale Rider is. Pale Rider , Tsubaki's servant is Pestilence/Death thats why everyone on the series before getting sent to the reality marble got sick and had blisters on their skin. Tsubaki literally summoned THE BLACK DEATH as a servant.

Xemnas27

I aint reading allat bud

maseken

Pale rider is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse from Revelations in the bible

Hi How are ya

not death just pestilence, two different horsemen

Hi How are ya

ok i get it when u guys wanna add extra left out info but it gets to a point bro

del

hold on, the episode playing has the fan subs, but I’m pretty sure they’re reacting to the og aniplex subs

Kris Barnes

Thank you this was helpful! I noticed on my second watch that she said magician and not mage but I didn’t understand the implications

P. A.

Yea, i get it. That's the thing with shows like this, the studio tell the story by spreading info across multiple episodes and letting the viewer assemble the pieces. Most of the written info is from the anime itself though. Problem with this kind of storytelling is that it might not make good react content since there's alot of info to pack up, and the trio doesn't really have that time on their hands to do so. Every episode will end up with "what just happened?", as it did with the latest episodes. The same applies to other like Re Zero, Bleach and other animes that on the spot i can't recall.

Silverhawk

The visual novel tells us this, but it was skipped over

JustThatOtherDude

And here i am thinking i can get by this series with half remembered trivia i learned from an autistic haze i had in grade school

Silverhawk

True, which is why by its nature, the only way of doing so is to spam death until it is the sole winner. Jester wants chaos and to usher in that apocalypse, so he’s using Tsubaki for his own goal, and torment fake assassin, as you see he brings up every time they meet, especially during this episode.

Silverhawk

Also I can’t edit it for some reason but to add on, it was explained last episode by flats a Waver, that the reality marble is “copying and pasting” the real world in intervals. If the death curtain descends on the reality marble, it will burst and spread throughout the world, killing everyone, civilian, master and servant alike

Silverhawk

It no longer applies because of them doing a fake grail war and holy grail war concurrently. Pretty much anything goes now

Silverhawk

I hit some of the high points earlier but this is a good detailed version. Also yes as Fate goes there’s a lot you have to pay attention to and catch but also it being a Visual Novel, so much content will be stripped out 😩

NumiGhost

Thank you I needed this

P. A.

Depends how u want to look at it. Personally, i've always felt the creators designed the fate series to encourage fans to look for more info into the real historical figures portrayed in the animes. In this particular series, more or less Gil - Enkidu and Richard are the ones that kind of encourage fans to look into for better understanding of their characters. If someone were to read "Epic of Gilgamesh", readers will have an easier time understanding what's the deal with Ishtar and another particular subject that i cannot spoil. To some degree Fake and True Assassin aswell. Problem here is that there is twist here that idk how these 2 can be explained to newcomers while making sense. People who have more knowledge on Fate will have an easier time.

P. A.

If anything, summoning strong servants is ideal. The point of the holy grail war is that its a ritual where the more power the grail cup gets from the 7 dead servants, the higher the probability of the winner's wish can be granted. One of the most likely rules is not to summon servants that could become a problem to society's safety or knowledge, since magic isnt supposed to be known by common populace. But this holy grail is filled with anomalies from the get go as pointed above. The american organizations didnt recreate properly the ritual from fuyuki, which was perfected and approved for a long time.

sol jam

Wow actually thank you because most of this information wasnt processed by me

P. A.

Great explanation, as it highlights why tsubaki's dream world and pale rider's reality marble are so closely intertwined.

Oni Legend

Cool idea, just physically wouldn’t be possible without ignoring of a lot already established in universe things. Main reason being is that “Ishtar” isn’t ACTUALLY Ishtar as much as it is a faint remnant of her anger/hatred left behind and activated solely becaue Gilgamesh and Enkidu were summoned and exist at the same time. Basically the beef is so seasoned and aged it left a physical mark on the world but its in no way actually the full extent of Ishtar’s personality or abilities Artoria wouldn’t be able to do anything like this on account of not being a goddess and also all types of Throne of Heroes Counterforce Alaya bs

Anzor Wilson

Ok now that I know he is just some Dumb Angry Asshole, I need not pay any attention to his future comments. Bro has lost all respect from me.

Anzor Wilson

Thank you for your comment but I think it is wasted on the likes of him.

Unknown

Mmm yes i see. I see.

del

I see a lot of essays. I’ll try to tldr this shit. - tsubaki’s parents injected her with the bacteria to see if it would give her op magic circuits. It did, the coma was on the house. They don’t care that she’s brain dead because they’re typical mages (aka assholes). - the bacteria in tsubaki was the catalyst to summon pale rider. Usually you can’t summon one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse in a grail war. You can in strange fake because of how badly they fucked up the system of the war on install. - pale rider doesn’t have a personality or thoughts outside of trying to grant tsubaki’s desires. When she says she wants to be a magician (aka use true magic, not that dollar store magecraft bullshit), pale rider switches up and starts trying to get the grail for her. - Jiao isn’t important. they showed up to introduce the actually important godfelling crossbow. fwiw Jiao was the god felled by said crossbow. tsubaki’s parents were going to use that crossbow to summon a servant but mr black gobbled their asses up instead.

Coatl45

While all this about the standard rules not applying is true, this isn’t the “true” Pale One. It’s just the closest approximation of him that the Grail and the Throne of Heroes could create. It’s also not autonomous, and acts more like a machine being piloted by Tsubaki than an actual servant. So it’s not all powerful. That said, it’s still a major threat to the world and it would probably be very bad if it got put into the Grail, or allowed to make a wish.

Chimera134

The Vampire guy in two places at once was just him using an illusion like how when Assassin tried to lunge at the kid, the kid disappeared in fog. He even says "You think I would show up in front of you in my real body?" / similar in different subs. So the real body is currently with Tsubaki and Sigma, while everyone else is dealing with an illusion again or a familiar.

Shockzz1234

Just to add on too - I guarantee one of the reasons Roshi and co are getting confused by it is because of the long ass comments explaining everything. Which, those comments are fine btw, it's great to have extra context, but i bet Roshi is seeing those lengthy ass comments, giving up and just buying into the "idea" of the show being "complicated" when it's not. I guarantee if he ignored the comments and just took the show as is and took it in as it explained things itself, he'd actually understand more lol, instead he and the others are just watching the show and going "well the comments will explain" and not intaking things for themselves, but most of the things they're explaining aren't necessarily needed to understand the show. I'm proof of that, and I'm sure I'm not alone there.

DocGreen

Doubtful. Depending on the timeline artoria can't even be summoned anymore and if she could she wouldn't remember anything considering she died in the heavens feel route

DocGreen

It's pretty mid in comparison

Joni A

Bro, calm down. I expect this Jiao character to be explained in a later episode. If that doesn't happen, I might look it up when the show is done. The same happened with Lord Of Mysteries which is one of the best shows to release but people give up because they can't think for themselves.

Krohv

Sheera people in a coma are still conscious keep your child murdering ass away from hospitals.

Kd

Nigga summoned the mfkn horsemen whattt?

Polygon

Apocrypha is pretty meh for the franchise. It’s fine for what it is, but the story and characters are nothing special.

DJ Muldrow

*insert Speed nodding and smiling gif*

DJ Muldrow

This show is a much more eye pleasing cluster fuck than Lord of mysteries or whatever it was called a few seasons ago

DocGreen

Yeah the only really interesting servants are mordred Jean and maybe alstafo. Fsf is just a better apochrypha. Because they gave almost the same amount of servants and masters but far more interesting characters

Anon7524

Just a reminder here towards the end: The author/creator for Fate/Strange Fake, Ryogo Narita, is also the creator for Baccano! and Durarara, 2 of the best ensemble anime of the past half century. This type of story is their bread & butter, so plz let them cook into S2 even if it's hard to follow who you might want to focus on 🙂

Fizzy 🐉

Loool I heard the lord of mysteries is actually fire

Shockzz1234

Also did some really good Bleach novels!

DIOR

Mind you there’s a nigga in here right now who thinks he understands all this because he saw DEEN FSN and Heavens Feel and Fate Zero so he has “basic fate knowledge”

P. A.

I don't understand why you're trying to be so antagonistic in the comments. Mind you, i was actually thinking of replying in the first comments and help you and the others who replied to u understand each other's view because the wording of each viewpoint was off. But i stopped because it blew off too much for my liking. So, let me make you understand this: the trio is confused as to what is tsubaki's deal (at least that's how i understand it). Literally, from episode 0, fake rider's identity was pretty much revealed in split second frames. Combining it with the the literal dialog afterwards held between Enkidu and Gil, together with Tsubaki's situation, any person with an above temperature IQ has in its mind fake rider's identity until the show reveals it for you. Throughout the show since episode 1, the first 5 mins iirc, u get even more info on what's happening with the surounding wildlife. U get couple minutes infos throughout the whole series about what's happening in Snowfield because of Pale Rider and Tsubaki's circumstance, which further enforces what's their deal. And i am sure you and probably other people are going to argue how can that black shade with a swirly effect at its head be pale rider. This is the only part where from watching other Fate series u can have a better understanding. In the throne of heroes are recorded heroes who had human/ demi human bodies. Pale rider is a curse/ phenomena/ concept/ system, hence why he has a shadow goop/at times human-ish silhouette because humanity cannot perceive it as having a human body. And the swirly effect at its head resembles very closely to how a tape recorded spins, that's how the producers most likely envisioned Pale Rider to be recording and obeying Tsubaki's wishes. That is why he is influenced by her personality at first and isn't really being hostile from get go when the crew got caged in the reality marble. I can keep going but then people will moan again about this thesis bs when all it takes is reading less than 5 minutes. Point is, everything has been laid down (verbally and non - verbally) and i don't expect the trio to understand everything because they never pause mid reaction to get a better view at everything that's been shown. And i don't expect them to research either. The trio's first and foremost problem is that they don't have a basic understanding of what a holy grail war is. If i were to ask Lupa what it is, he will answer with it being a war between magi. Which is wrong, at it's core basis it's a ritual masqueraded as a war. Mind u, this info has been laid down also in previous fate series, but yea, can't expect them to remember that either after all these years of reacting. If you've read until this point, thank you and i hope you'll understand my points. Otherwise please stop acting like this, it doesn't help your case, it doesn't help others and it just makes it unpleasant to scroll through the comment section.

pretty sure it was only roshi talking about icing tsubaki if it meant a free escape from the reality marble 😂

Don't know if its already been mentioned in the comments but the bacteria Tsubaki's parents found and injected into her came in with the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. They also are pretty much what gave form to the Meso American gods since they would inhabit a host and pretty much make them a god to the point that alaya(the world consciousness) granted them divinity. So tsubaki was injected with god making bacteria and her saying she wishes to become a magician not a mage is a major distinction. A magician has magic that can do some crazy stuff, In episode 0 we saw one. It was the old guy at the end of the episode. So Pale rider (pestilence) one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalpyse is now on the move to win her the war instead of playing house.

Only the source material though. The anime screwed things up from what I heard.

Am I the only one annoyed by how the police officers keep changing? Only a handful are the same ones that we started with.

Mage families and mages in general often don't think like normal people or hold themselves to the same moral standard. Often focusing on furthering their magecraft and not only insuring, but potentially strengthen their bloodline. Grandparents, parents, and siblings treating each other like stepping stones in order to reach their goals is the norm. Basically, what Tsubaki's parents did is nothing special in the world of mages and as long as the general public isn't at risk of finding out then the mage association won't step in.

Pestilence and death are the same one, the other three are conquest, war and famine

There's 28 of them and A-1 wants them all to get screen time apparently lol

It comes down to the wording of a kid not knowing any better in fate Mages and Magicians are two different things Magicians use true magic which went extinct when Gilgamesh and Enkidu defied the gods back when they were alive and ever since humans had to use the regular magecraft which is no where near as powerful as true magic. The kid not knowing the difference wished for her parents to be magicians and the sure fire way to that is winning the grail so now the pale rider is going scorched earth to make that wish come true.

Still think Zero is the only one that worked on every level (especially the ost). The tone shifting from looneytunes cutaway gags and mary poppins moe girl to serious violent scenes isn't working for me in this. The writing is...well its hard to really follow and probably made for people who might know a bunch of esoteric Fate lore. I don't blame the crew for not knowing wtf is going on.

They're there to show the diverse ethnic makeup of an American city, or something.

Lowkey hard disagree. I can see the appeal in fake but it doesn’t trump apocrypha just cause there’s more history to the characters(I think the entire red faction is filled with bangers). If anything I think it’d be a better react cause it’s definitely easier to follow than fake all the way throughout. Roshis and em get tripped up every 5 seconds😭
