(It really doesnt take as long as people think to pick up on phrases and meanings if you've been watching anime for a while. Just try to make an effort to match the subs to what is being said. After only a year of practice I was able to watch the Demon Slayer movie without subs!)

Stoked on this show so far, Especially knowing the author is i have all faith it will be fire, But absolutely nobody explaining anything relevant to our main boy is frustrating. And i get that its just the show trying to hook you with the mystery of it all, but Both asa and merchant dude coulda explained SOMETHING to him. Like asa obviously cares for him, she should've made some sort of effort at all to explain why they showed up and murdered everyone.

Interestingly, Dera and Hannah use English loan words a couple of times, as the majority of modern Japanese people do, but Yuru has no idea what they mean both times and they have to go back and explain with Japanese words because he doesn't know anything outside his village, and this is another perfect example of something I don't think they would be able to properly convey this through a dub, so thank you very much for watching the sub.

I disagree because Yuru grew up in the village and he has an emotional and mental attachment to his home. And his people not only that but they came in and started killing his people who he has known for 17 years and the real Asa killed the fake her right In front of him. Which he didn't knew that she was fake until later on but even then It would be very hard to believe. Especially since they came in guns blazing instead of at least being corvet about it.

Imo it’s not that easy to take in considering his circumstances, he thought the fake sister was his real sister for the past 10 years and her real sister comes back to slaughter the village he lived in. This story is real interesting tho, makes you really question who’s good and who’s bad

I am interested in this series. My only gripe is the fact they bum rushed the first episode in terms of world lore. I would've liked at least 2-3 episodes spending time with the village then at the mid point of the 3rd episode they get raided by modern day soldiers. This is just a byproduct of anime needing to grab your attention on the first ep sadly and having a 12 ep per season limit. Still kinda excited to see what's next.

The lore is going to be spread throughout the series with the mystery of the twins and the village. Hell they only recently just conclusively finished all the village mystery stuff in the manga, and Yuru finally deciding his allegiance and his thoughts about the place he once called home.

If his parents and sister had to run away from the village, the problem is most likely with the villagers themselves. Then they impersonate his sister to prevent Yuru from leaving the village? Yeah, I don't know about the other side, but his village is surely problematic. My only question rn is why they left Yuru behind while running away.

my guess is that the parents went to rescue asa but something gone wrong and they had to escape without yuru. Maybe that was an attempt to rescue him ? But i'm really curious to know what's wrong with the village because they all looked nice.
