Mythical refresh pull

Fewill

Creepy ahh wizard

King of New York

This show is dooope! Freaky ass witch jump scared me.

Daniella

Sheera's hair is looking so pretty!! She the birthday 🤭

LaTesha

An important tree to witches. It would be shame if something happens to it 🔥 😆

Gravity

i think the brim caps are gonna be a mix of "magic is free, magic is for everyone" BUTTTT they are super extreme and don't care if that means people die and use super crazy forbidden magic

naa

Yay peak is here

doto

peak

Vinne

The scooby doo chase is so good I honestly think this anime is a gem

Helpy

I'm about to drop kick Agott into a wall, JJK style. Nah jk Gabi made me immune to rude little girls, she will grow...surely

Kisuke01

I love this show Frieren and The Owl House vibes for me

N

she definitely will!

Sam

coco is emotionally intelligent because after tetias freakout and agotts remarks i would’ve started yelling for the dragon to come so we all can feel bad! 🙃 also idk abt color seasons but this warm brown color scheme suits sheera so well!!

Helpy

I believe she will lol it's just rough right now

Chanceg983

Show so good I’m debating reading the manga. People on Twitter siding with the Brimmed Caps got me intrigued

Vinne

To add onto sheera's point coco's first thought about using magic again was to use it on the soles of her feet but also decided to do something more creative with it i think thats what the brim caps want

Fuji

nah man agott woulda had me dapping up the brim hats and seeing whats up she is better than me

Joni

i'm happy that this doesn't seem like the anime nowadays where the animation quality is only amazing during episode 1 n low budget in every other episode

Alex zander

Speed running getting killed by your "friends"

Alex zander

Agott is justified in her crash out

Muliphein

13:02 that was the best scooby doo imitation i ever heard.

Imari

They are kinda forced to keep up the quality cause the mangas artstyle, clothing and aesthetic is too specific you’d have to curate an experience where people feel like they are reading a storybook. Which I think they did perfectly so far.

Helpy

Definitely not 😂 But spare me the argument, you do you!

Devin B

It's sad but I can understand why Agott doesn't like Coco that much rn, she doesn't hate her overall character but the one thing she doesn't like is how she's rushing into things without considering how it can affect others around her like her mom and this situation. That mindset is especially dangerous when it comes to magic.

ERRORCODE616

God I hope Coco improves and has a showdown with Agott. She’s only gonna respect results and only gonna look her way by force.

Wild

Well that’s probably not the only one and from how they spoke of it there’s multiple

Rare

Yeah, the situation is really complicated. If you had the means to solve all your problems(even if it’s forbidden), it’s harder to argue to not use those means. The problem is that those means set a horrible precedent.

Gilthwixt

That's the vibe, yeah. Magical anarchists who aren't above acts of terrorism to abolish the restrictions. The fact that even healing magic is forbidden means there will likely be sympathetic elements to their cause, even if everything else about their cause and its consequences end up abhorrent.

Gilthwixt

As a fun bit of translation trivia, when Agott said "Let's leave this dead end", the original Japanese was "Let's get away from here", with the word for here being "koko". So it was even more explicit that she was dissing Coco in the original Japanese.

Xemnas27

With this power system it’s really interesting how combat will actually work in real time with casting spells. You’ll definitely need sigils prepared beforehand for quick casting

Kris Barnes

Happy to inform you that you are incorrect about Qifrey. It’s not a King Bradley situation here

Earphone Jack

I was so mad when this episode ended in a cliffhanger lol. I was so into this episode.

sip

i have to confess that i read like 50 chapters of the manga without realizing that tartah was a boy, it's half me being dumb and the other half it being genuinely hard to tell with the manga's style imo (which i guess it's fair, since they are like fucking 10' and if they all are dressed similar it's genuinely hard to tell), but the anime doesn't seem to have that issue lmao

Xenoprism

Bug Films did a great job with the dragon!! My only "nitpick" is that in the manga, you turn the page and the dragon is just THERE, looking at the girls. Whereas in the anime, it takes a moment to walk into frame. It's scarier in the manga imo. Still, I loved it.

Bria A.

Somebody actually edited a clip of the alleyway chase to the What's New Scooby-Doo theme song and I laughed for like five minutes lmao

Adamas

The animation is so good dude

Bria A.

Genuinely not even trying to debate but putting aside the fact that she's a kid (which already gives her a lot of grace in my books), Agott...is right lol. Coco's recklessness got her mother turned to crystal and all four of the kids trapped -- she doesn't really acknowledge impact over intent at this point, and idk if that changes? Coco's innocence can't really be used to defend her while not holding other kids, esp. Agott, to the same standards, though I agree she shouldn't be treated *too* harshly.

UniversalBeauty

I would have joined the brim caps after that not gonna lie, bring on the forbidden magic.. jk 😅

Helpy

Coco was messing up, I am moreso talking about the way Agott responded in the moment. What good does admonishing her like that in a tense situatio do? At one point Coco genuinely noticed something of possible importance but Agott got so worked up yelling about how she's a failure that she didn't even get to hear it. There was also no need to bring her mom into it, and her expectations of Coco are WAY too high considering she is brand new to this culture and way of living. They are all kids though and they will grow, but Agott is the worst offender for me, that's not how you express yourself in a productive way...

R

The manga definitely did a better establishing shot for the dragon, but it seemed like Bug Films decided, "yeah, we can't top that, so we'll just flex in the subsequent beats." And honestly, they did. The tension as the apprentices backpedaled, and the shots of Agott unleashing the fireball...solid stuff IMO. Bug has done a great job of recognizing when to mimic the manga, and when to lean into animation's strengths instead of trying to chase manga's strengths.

Bloodcrusnik

Honestly really enjoying the dub of this one. Love that they are giving the characters different accents.

R

The manga does a great job of making you catch yourself every time you start to identify too strongly with one character/faction/idea/etc. Absolutely worth a read, though I wouldn't blame you for at least waiting until this season is over.

Imari

There’s barley any fights in this it’s mostly plot

Xenoprism

Couldn't have said it better myself🙏🏼

aubrey

I watched the first two episodes and immediately binged the entire manga in like three days. its AMAZING and the moral dilemmas esp with the brimmed caps and forbidden magic are so intriguing

ViralCorgi

Not the Brimmed Hats looking kinda fire 👀 Why the villains gotta have that drip 😩😂😂

Coatl45

It’s got to be all or nothing in these kinds of situations. Making exceptions leads to leaving loopholes. For one thing, the slightest mistake could lead to catastrophic consequences when the human body is involved. For another, there would be people who would exploit those loopholes mercilessly and cruelly. There’s nothing wrong with healing someone’s broken bones or restoring a lost limb… unless you’re planning on rebreaking those bones or resevering that limb. Over and over and over again. The only reason memory manipulation is allowed is so that the witches don’t have to kill any innocent whose only crime was having the misfortune of discovering the secret, and I’d bet my lifesavings that the Pointed Caps spent weeks debating and arguing over that. At the end of the day, the Points are pacifists, and would prefer to not have to hurt or kill others.

Nico_Robin13

I respect Agott's crash out, say what you will, but Coco already knows how important the cleanliness of drawing the sigils is and still touched her while she was drawing it. Granted she wasn't looking, but she knew the plan and obviously what that involved.

Coatl45

I heard someone say that the Brims don’t necessarily want Coco, they just want A Coco. They want a mundane who didn’t grow up in that world, and thus would let their imagination wander and experiment with things that the children raised by the Points would never dare to. Coco was just the first seed that managed to sprout from Cyclops’ planting. And now he’s come to tend to his crop. It’s possible that if she had showed up alone, Cyclops wouldn’t have bothered with the dragon. But, since she brought a bunch of Points with her, he might as well take the opportunity to drive a wedge between Coco and the Points and make it clear that she still isn’t apart of the magical world yet, as far as the Points are concerned. It’s what I would do in his position.

ViralCorgi

The background of the tree was interesting because it implied that witches existed before the conjuring ink, not the other way around. So it makes me wonder if there are a small group of people who are actually born with native magic abilities.

Vinne

I think youre right he did say "a seed" and we still dont know what happened to the other 3 books

sip

tbf no one told them to follow lmao

Coatl45

I can understand why people would side with the Brims, but I have a very vivid imagination, and can clearly see what kind of shit I’d do with magic, just cause I could. The Points are very much correct in that there need to be rules and limits. Like, I’m pro Second Amendment. But I very much agree that gun permits, hunting licenses, and the classes and background checks necessary to get those are essential for society. And magic is so much more dangerous than guns could ever be. So I’m very much a Point in this debate.

Coatl45

Great! Now I’m gonna be hearing that in my head for hours! Thanks, bud! 😑😆

Magnis

sheera hair 👌🔥

Bria A.

LISTEN. I DIDN'T MAKE THE EDIT. ...but i did start humming it once i saw where the timestamps lined up.

Chanceg983

From what I see most people don’t like that the witches restrict the use of magic to some people, but forget that before the restriction people were blowing each other to smithereens in war. Also the Brimmed Hat gave a child a nuke manual with codes with no instructions, which is my issue with their faction

Coatl45

They couldn’t just run from the dragon when you were saying they should, Lupa. Predators like that would immediately bolt after a runner, making them the priority target. You said that it was like staring down your cat, and that’s exactly what it would’ve been like. Running from a big cat is screaming “I AM PREY” at the top of your lungs.

ShaquanVirse

Imma be honest, She deserved to be cursed out like THINK COCO THINK. She could've been nicer about it but yeah Coco did just get them all fucked in this situation even after being warned. Agott gotta be my current favorite character cause I feel like she is gonna warm up eventually to Coco

Liliana

Yeah, a ton of preparation and also some quick thinking. They can also modify prepared spells to suit the situation better. The brim caps on the other hand can just draw on themselves or others and do all sort of forbidden shit that's way more powerful and has no limitations. Really looking forward to when the anime covers some fights.

JustThatOtherDude

I get what roshi is saying about Agot being backhanded nice, but dub Aggot is HELLA aggressive XD

Ivan Tsu

Tbh thinking from Agott's POV, Coco must be terrifying. Like, this girl petrified her mother out of ignorance, doesn't fully know the dangers of magic and now i have to share my working space with her? Yeah, i'm going to die 100%. It also doesn't help that the first spell that Coco drew there shot water at Agott. If that spell had a fire or maybe an earth sigil, Agott would be severely hurt. Still, it doesn't justify treating Coco like this, but i see why Agott tries to drive her away.

Coatl45

I think giving 4 sets of grimoires and wands to random mundanes is a rather conservative estimate. And wishful thinking. Who knows how many time bombs Cyclops scattered around, waiting to blow. Again, if we’re going by what I’d do, I’d definitely spread as many as I safely could without attracting attention from the Points. If you want to increase your chances of finding someone that stumbles upon the secret, then that’s the way to go.

Coatl45

If we’re being adults and giving Agott the benefit of the doubt about blowing up at Coco, then we should do the same for Coco. She saw the witch that gave her that grimoire and panicked, knowing that he was her only chance at saving her mother immediately. So of course she’d follow him to an obvious (to us) trap.

PhaedrusRumple

For some reason people expect these 12 year old kids to be emotionally mature. No shit they’re freaking out. We’ve already seen how tetia reacted when she first met Coco. We already know Agott doesn’t her. Nobody should be surprised that they’re lashing out on her in the situation they’re in

PhaedrusRumple

Next episode is gonna be crazy though

Clasher

i really don't see how it can be their fault that they were the ones who chose to follow coco of their own accord. No one knew they were going to be teleported into a death trap.

Bria A.

Honestly, I think there's a difference between saying something like "when I was twelve, I wasn't a racist" (an extreme and blatantly wrong situation) vs. "when I was twelve, I wasn't an asshole like Agott" because...Agott honestly hasn't been that much of an asshole? She's abrasive, sure, and not pretending to be buddy-buddy, but she's not excessively cruel. Her one drawback was sending Coco on the unsupervised test and setting her up to fail, but...that's the key, kind of: she was setting Coco up to *fail*, not die. We (with the exception of manga readers maybe?) don't really have a scope of the danger levels in this universe, even for magical tasks like that. It was said that the kids typically take the trial before they even go to an atelier to apprentice, so Agott clearly saw it as something trivial but something that Coco specifically wouldn't be prepared for. Every step of the way Agott has been teaching Coco lessons and offering help when she makes mistakes, without even being forced to, even if she doesn't like that Coco is at the atelier to begin with. She's just not nice about it, which is a justifiable reason for viewers to be annoyed with her, in all fairness. Otherwise, I'm sorry...I love Coco, but everything Agott said was correct, even if she didn't say it kindly. And I don't think anyone can say "it was their fault for following", because then the other girls would be called assholes for *not* chasing after and checking up on Coco lmao.

ShaquanVirse

Again you thinking as a viewer and not her new friends who are "Responsible for her as a friend" Coco was fucking warned about stuff like this yet she chose to chase instead of telling home dude in charge or any of the girls what she was doing. They dont chase her and guess what, she probably dead

ShaquanVirse

Agott the best character - ease off the only responsible 1 this episode

ShaquanVirse

She told nobody who she was chasing after, let alone her new master. So yeah, Coco deserves some blame and I hope she learns from what Agott is trying to tell her. The lesson is simple, think of your actions before you do them because magic is dangerous. Even Coco realizes she sort of fucked every one of her new friends over rushing in like this

Teejay

Not an asshole but pretty stiff, honestly the only one thats a dick move from argott is that test. What if the kid died, how can you make an excuse for that.

Teejay

It could go both ways, coco is too jumpy at the moment but I see a mountains worth of potential in that. Argott yelling at coco is valid but also kind invalid, it might sound crazy or cruel but nobody asked them to follow along so it’s like them being in danger is unintentionally their fault. Argott is not a bad person but can easily make enemies, simply because she’s not trying to understand the other person’s perspective

hydrxngxx

agott in the previous episodes were mean af but i think her outburst in this situation is completely justified, i would curse coco tf out too if i were her lol

Anto

I need people to understand that these kids are written as kids and as such, they'll fight for dumb things and make stupid mistakes. Coco should take this more seriously and Aggott should calm down a bit and be more open, that's it.

Severus Alaerth

Nah fam did you see them hats? Those guys got crazy drip

Jonathan Hart

On my life we switching sides😭😭😭

PhaedrusRumple

If she did die, it would be an entirely different conversation.. but she didn’t. We could do “what ifs” all day

Teejay

Normally I would’ve agreed to the point that what if are meaningless but imagine I toss you into the world of Harry Potter and I said I know you don’t know magic but I that was exposed to magic my whole life did this 2 years earlier than you with ample preparation so therefore you should be able to do it. There are so many things that could go wrong and on the subject of what ifs is that these are kids unless she was an adult that knew the dangers properly of the test I could agree. So although I see where you’re coming from, I think that’s a pretty odd angle to look at it from but you do you fam

Coatl45

Again, she panicked. She’s 12. Yes, she was shown a path towards undoing the petrification on her mother. But how long would that path take? Not only does she need to gain the right to take and pass the test to the library, but she will need to find the correct grimoire with the spell she needs, and figure out how to reverse the spell itself, which will take further research time and practice perfecting. She would naturally want to get it all done as fast as possible. So asking the witch that caused all of this would obviously be the optimal solution, yes? Panic, inexperience, and youth would say so. I’m not saying that she was right, I’m just saying that her mistakes are understandable given the circumstances and people involved. Just as understandable as Agott making the situation between them worse by constantly taking pot shots at Coco. Coco saw something that might’ve been important. But because Agott just assumed that she jostled her for no reason, none of the ones who might be able to do something with that information are going to learn about it because Coco will be too scared of getting told, “Shut up, outsider!” to say anything about it. And that’s if she doesn’t just decide to go off on her own. When somebody does what Coco did, you don’t blow up and throw every mistake they’ve ever made in their face like that. At most, you speak tersely as you ask them why they interrupted you. Because you know that getting emotional and blowing up makes a bad situation worse. The other three made just as many mistakes as Coco. Well… maybe not the blue haired girl. She hasn’t made as many as the rest and managed to keep her head on straight. Anyway, we either hold all of them to the same level of accountability, or none of them.

ShaquanVirse

Again I understand but at the same time you have to understand Agott and the other girls POV - Like Coco literally caused this bro, so yeah Coco deserved to be told about consequences of her actions. Agott should've been nicer but don't act like Agott and the others aren't coming from experience ; Coco put them in this situation so Agott telling her to think about her actions is the right move

Coatl45

Or the dragon could just be a way to drive a wedge between Coco and the Points that tagged along. Either way, it’s a good plan, as we can see by how alienated Coco obviously feels at the end.

Phroug

Ngl Agott cussing Coco out was the only valid thing she's done. I woulda been pissed too

Dj_Mori

The brimmed Caps need to pack Agott up. or Coco should just hit her with that ice spell.

Anarchy

Oh yeah I just realized if that first spell wasn’t water that would’ve been realllly bad.

Clasher

@ShaquanVirse I don't see how you can see that I'm thinking as a viewer when you quite literally agree with me. You misread my comment. I said that it's not their fault that they followed coco.

Denzelwya

Ahh yes take aggot the one who’s been saving them a

Denzelwya

Well in agoots case she got dragged along and had she not been there coco would’ve got cooked ☠️

Dj_Mori

Ahh yes, Aggot the one that push her in a window dimension without any prep so that she could get clapped. Yes that one

Flowery

shes a kid shes not going to be morally perfect give her time

meguminis.

Coco had the choice to say no and wait until Qifrey was around to do the test. Let's not forget these are children and can be liable for some of their actions.

meguminis.

She didn't follow Coco, she was dragged. And she has helped Coco in several ways, let's not forget Coco is pretty ignorant and still has learned how dangerous magic really is. She's a liability at this point until she realises what magic can truly do.

meguminis.

Coco has been given a lot of grace tbh. She knows of the foundation of magic and she has knowledge of the existence of forbidden magic. We've been shown she had a pretty chill upbringing and doesn't know about stranger danger. Bolting after someone you met one time and not telling anyone when they are around is reckless. Agott has been very harsh but completely justifiable this time (except mentioning her mother).

meguminis.

One of the extremely scarce correct views on this. We've been shown Agott trying to help her but Coco is too enamoured over using magic to see the dangers of it.

meguminis.

And you would've blamed them for not being there helping her. That argument makes no sense.

meguminis.

I love how WHA, Frieren and Delicious in Dungeon are bringing GOOD fantasy anime back. I feel a lot of these type of fantasy themes ended up only being used for isekai slop over the last few years and needed a breath of fresh air.

jordansamuel

Yeah people already said it, but the drip on these brimmed caps is ridiculous. I’m switching sides immediately! Loved how epic they looked too, they look like a whole problem

DopefIamingo

They pulled up to Hueco Mundo

Brandon Leiva

you guys should check out the dubbed version, i personally love it since they all have different accents

Sam

Plot thickens

Evan Muhn

Ya accept it’s a wig

Oliver

Kinda friend that says I HOPE YOU DO COME TO SCHOOL TOMORROW (⚈₋₍⚈) XD XD

Jordan Postle

Wait wasn't Qifrey at the shop with them?

Lauren B.

Yeah, but she didn't have ti say shit about her momma. Valid or not, the minute you put my mommas name in your mouth we fightin

nick

wish i could comment pictures here cus theres a fun drawing the author made of coco as a brimmed cap (dw, no manga spoilers) and she looks soooo cool dude

Alexander S

Agott is completely justified btw

Offw0rlder

Coco just need to swing on her smh

Arkan Matlub

She got dragged into chasing coco when she didn't want to, AND she was unwillingly forced to teleport somewhere dangerous BECAUSE of Coco, ANDDDDD Coco accidentally ruined Agotts drawing in a CRITICAL moment. It's understandable how she's had the last straw when literally trying to draw an escape route from a dragon and lose it due to some factor that could be controlled (Coco not touching her shoulder). Not to mention, when you were 12 you weren't an asshole but I promise you, there were other kids who thought you were an asshole at some moment before they met you or during until you actually became friends with them.

Tae

Literally lol idk how they mad at agott in this situation. Like now is not a time to be clumsy

Tae

Nah imma say exactly what i want cus you wanted to be reckless and play with magic😭

thatNEET_

20:49 Oh no, she realized what she said could have sounded like an insult which gave her pause, but then clarified that that's absolutely what she thinks of Coco too. There is no encouragement to get better in being called a "dead end". It's used to signify a waste of effort, ie, following Coco hear was a waste of her time, and having Coco as an apprentice is a waste of Quifrey's effort because nothing good will come of it.

AzureSiegfried

happy book salesman used magic freely in episode 1

General Grevious

Lupa’s wand would be made out of pure mahogany😂

rickie woodson

i actually think Qifrey is missing an eye altogether

nic

You guys are acting like her master would let that happen, he was standing right there watching her lol

nic

Bruh even the master said “I wouldn’t even think of sending someone to the range during this time of year” lmfao the fact that you play off her sending coco there with zero training is hilarious. All you have to look at is the master reaction, he literally says “you could’ve died” on top of us LITERALLY watching coco almost fall to her death multiple times. Even if she thought the test was easy bcuz she did it at 10, she fully thought coco would fail AND she gave her the flying shoes, which btw was the only reason she even almost fell to her death. If she really just wanted her to simply fail she wouldn’t have given the shoes.
