People just forgetting abt the jedi doesn't really get explained, Luke is 19 at the start of the original trilogy and this takes place well before that, so it's only been a couple years at most since the Jedi were killed off

Already a couple minutes in and y'all mix up Ahsoka's background with another group of people lol SO funnier story, and unless you guys feel like still not watching the Clone Wars (maybe Rebels & the Bad Batch as well), you'd be missing out on the animation improvements from the CW S7 + The Bad Batch, but also some extra info about how the Jedi aren't so known in Rebels, as well as from the "5th Season of Rebels" (aka Ahsoka, the live action show). Other than that, this show also is becoming kickass, so being able to watch this alongside you guys is also great fun!

Plenty of people still know about jedi, nobody expects to see them or the force being used. Also, in the last episode the reason they said laser sword isn't because they don't know about lightsabers, its simply a less formal name for them. Everybody is fully aware of the jedi, the force, and lightsabers.

People don’t realize this, but even at their peak in Star Wars, Jedi were rare as hell. It’s like 10,000 of them in a galaxy with trillions of people and millions of worlds. most people were never seeing a Jedi in their life. So in Darth Maul: Shadow Lord, it makes sense why people either barely know about them, or straight up never met one. Jedi weren’t just walking around either—they only showed up for important situations. If your planet wasn’t in some big conflict, you just weren’t seeing one. So by Star Wars: A New Hope, people acting like Jedi are myths isn’t crazy at all… most people barely knew anything about them to begin with. Also Lawson probably has seen one before, but he isn’t gonna know exactly what a lightsaber is. It looks like a laser sword

It hasn't been THAT long since the Jedi purge. It's only been a few years. And even Anakin as a child calls a Lightsaber a Laser Sword when he first saw one but he still knew about Jedi. It's just a very less fancy description of it. So ppl still are aware of the Jedi and who they were even after order 66. They're not a forgotten group of people but by the time of a New Hope which is 30 years later after the Jedi Purge SOME ppl believe the Jedi are a myth on some worlds because the Empire tried very hard to erase their history.

Ok so to clear up somethings about the timeline and a bit with the ages of the characters (specifically maul here), Maul and Obi-wan were what I assume were in they're late teens, most likely early twenties in Episode one, the years between episode one and three are like a decade or so and where this takes place is like a year or so after episode three (ordee 66) Anakin was an adult in Episode three (most likely late to early thirties) and a Jedi Knight (almost appointed to Jedi Master that being before he got cut clean) so by this time MauI and Obi-wan are probably in they're mid thirties to late possibly early forties. Just my little speel about it

So you’re almost correct. Anakin was 22 in Episode 3 and Obi-Wan was probably around 38 or so. By the time of this show, Anakin is like 23-24 and Obi-Wan is around 39-40, making Maul relative to his age.

In all honesty, as a massive star wars fan, yes it is totally ridiculous that the jedi were completely forgotten about in the span of about 20 years between order 66 and Luke starting his journey. But the original trilogy was set up with the jedi being unknown, and the prequels with the jedi being at the heart of the Republic, so everything else just has to work around it. And this show us set a year after order 66, so them being unknown is even more ridiculous. Like I can suspend my disbelief after 20 years, but the very next year after The Clone Wars is crazy

I'd suggest watching the bad batch, just because it really shows the degradation of the Republic and how everything sort of fades from the minds of the Galaxy as propaganda takes hold

They understand that there was this random ass religion that for some reason was well connected to the major government AND they had a a random ass temple with a bunch or random ass followers. Most people will never EVER see a jedi in person (knowingly). They just hear random stories of these wizard like swordsman. and laugh it off as exaggeration. The only difference now is that the Jedi don't have government backing or protection. Just these random old temples where maybe there was 1-2 alleged wizards to every couple hundred cult like followers/ non-wizards were situated. There was probably just 10s of thousands of Jedi (if even that many) in comparison to 10s of TRILLIONS of other intelligent beings in the known star wars galaxy. For scale reference, there are 400,000 Amish people (40x the amount of Jedi) on our Earth

"Laser sword" is also just a term that *is* used for lightsabers, in-universe. Anakin calls them that in Phantom Menace, Luke says it in the sequels, and it's used in Rebels and elsewhere as well.
