As much of an ass Professor Serfence can be, I can respect that his whole mentality is knowing your role. He knew that on the battlefield him and the other mages couldn't make much of an impact compared to the dwarves so he tried to give the important role of protecting the people while him and the others did what they can to help them.

I also think that all the hard work Will has put in up until this point paid off. Had he not trained as hard, and spent as much time in the dungeon, I don't think the limiter release would've had as much of an impact in his current power. It feels like a bunch of different factors: growing up around a powerful magic user like Elfie, getting into fights with powerful magic users in school, spending a lot of time in a magic-rich environment like the dungeon. All of that probably had a hand in his development. But we also know next to nothing about the Finn tribe. So we'll seeee.

So me not being a manga, my only guess on workner is that he has some kind of self healing spell/innate magic that allows him to come back. Based on what we saw and the fact that dude used his blood to start the light I feel like it’s something akin to resonance, like the power will hasn’t learned to tap into consciously spurred to action after feeling a similar presence. Dope episode and will go and read the manga for sure

I think the fact that sheera pointed out where mages tend to specialize into specific elements is on track, the dwarves evolved to be naturally strong whereas elves and humans developed their magical abilities. Mages in general tend to find a natural affinity with a tree of magic, but can use the others if needed. It's likely that will just has a self buffing kind of magic that's he's been using subconsciously, pushing himself to be stronger whenever he's spurred into action, whereas here we're seeing him fully channel the spell into its stronger form, especially seeing that he couldn't answer the "what does casting a spell *feel* like" exam
