Sure, but as this episode demonstrates, different circumstances may require small adjustments to a spell that a stamp would limit. Signs or sigils that are too big might be useless or even counterproductive to the situation. Sure, having general set of generic casting seals would be fine, but learning to draw is a valuable skill in order to understand the fundamentals of the system.

I'm with Lupa: put a WHA game on Switch and sell it with a wand-pen shaped stylus. Or you could put it on PC and add drawing tablet compatibility. I'd kill for some drawing-based puzzles and combat. Fill a notebook with spells as you progress through the story.

ehhh, I guess I'm a bit cynical bc -- while I definitely don't think he's an evil person -- I also don't share y'alls faith in Qifrey based on these glimpses we keep seeing 🥴 I feel like Olruggio is supposed to be the Yang to Qifrey's Yin. While he's very gruff on the outside, inside he's GENUINELY a kind, considerate and caring person....on the flip side while Qifrey is seemingly very sweet and charming and great with the kiddos, I believe deep down he can also be very cold, calculating and even manipulative when he needs to be. I think he knew exactly what to say to get Olruggio to give in. And I think while he is protective of the girls, more than having direct loyalty to Coco, he's very much married to his mission to find a connection to the Brimmed Hats and will do whatever it takes to do that.

Disagree about the dub scene being better, it was just a wider vocabulary, but the tone itself was considerably worse than the sub. You can get anyone to say words, but to say them a certain way, to deliver it, that's difficult. I like the mystery of sub Qifrey since he leaves it open to interpretation for the dude of what he'll do to him if tells the order. The dub described the threat too much. It's like describing a scary and dark forest, in a book. A few more words, for this example, could be justified. Like: Shadows dancing or smth. But once you go to in-depth about, ex: There were apple trees and lemon trees, some bushes, and the shadows they cast, and, and, and and and and. It ruins the mystery, the fear of the unknown.

This show is soo good and soo beautiful! Sheera had a good call on the dark places test i think, it would make sense to learn a light spell with your eyes closed because the times you need light most is when you cant see, very smart.

For those asking for dub version, these guys watch all shows in its original language, even when people complained a lot that chinese is hard to listen too. I also only watch subs cuz i like to appreciate the "originality" of a show.

I mean that’s literally what the person you were responding to said lmao like yeah having a general set of basic spells would be good but in the cases of things like Coco’s first test or even having to subdue the dragon, it took very specifically tailored drawings and set up that you realistically would never be able to prepare for with stamps and premade spells

I will say out of all the ongoing manga i’ve read these past few years, Witch Hat Atelier was easily one of the my favorites and Qifrey specifically was one of the most interesting characters i read out of all of them But i appreciate that WHA does something i always really appreciate in fantasy and stuff with power systems where they give the magic…physics. Not that it abides by our rule physics but the abilities as mythical and life altering as magic has its own set of rules and physics that can learned, mastered, innovated on, and developed and WHA has one of my favorite showcases of that

That show is a whole mess. Maybe the original work is alright and deserves its props but the animated version is too incoherent and obviously skipped a lot of stuff to get to the good part to grab the audience.
