I know some people are saying this is like Game of Thrones Season 8 but as someone who watched that shit live lets be real its not that bad. For those curious the cast THEMSELVES hate the ending all of them have been clowning on the finale before it came out they aren’t happy either. In the original comics everybody dies but starlight and hughie for those wanting to know. Its a very rushed mid finale they should have had this season be 10 eps or make the last episode longer. Another criticism of the boys is that they rely a little too much on practical effects I love practical effects but superhero shows that aren’t about street tiers like daredevil or peacemaker NEED big special effects for the spectacle. During ep 1 I thought thats what this season would be but again its very low budget amazon has a thing for being stingy with super hero shows I guess. I’ll be real the homelander fight kinda sucked its just guys fighting in suits in one room barely causing damage. In the comics they DEMOLISH the white house and its a big battle between the boys and an army of supes. No soldier boy is lame he should have been the one blasting homelander it felt like he was going through a redemption arc. Gen V got done dirty absolute waste of time sent them off to Canada and their show is cancelled so thats it for them. In the comics vought does survive and so do superheroes but they’re more like cops and firefighters no longer celebrities they answer to the government. Just a very underwhelming ending, still love the show though Seasons 1-3 were HEAT season 4 was good but not great and season 5 had a great start, peetered off, had some great moments, then poof thats it. There’s the soldier boy spinoff and the boys mexico but man does this finale hurt those spin off chances. Then again Dexter had some shitty last seasons then rebounded and the boys comics do continue after the main story following hughie and starlight so maybe thats their redemption. At least marvel is producing some heat and DC has some stuff on the way and for amazon they still have Invincible. I’m not gonna punish the series for the lame finale but it does hurt its rating for me this show was a 10/10 but now all together? 7/10 now sorry for the yap fest tl:dr too rushed and underwhelming to pay off all the set up and the fights lacked the spectacle needed for a superhero show not about street tiers. Tons of characters got done dirty soldier boy, gen v cast, etc. Still love the show but its a 7/10 instead of a 10/10

I didn't hate the finale. It was severely underserved, I would say, it's underwhelming what they did to Gen. V was unforgivable for all the jokes they make about Marvel. They fell into the exact same pitfalls, and for a show that's supposed to be really progressive. They did the people of color really dirty in show.

Decent yet somewhat underwhelming finale to a pretty disjointed season. Lot of weird decisions they made that hurt the show for no reason. There were good parts for sure though. The Butcher stuff got me emotional🥲. Can’t believe it’s been 7 years. I hope the future projects they do in this universe are good and don’t fumble.

8/10 ending. It does not whatsoever make up for the astronomical shitshow that was the first 7 episodes, but aside from a few very annoying caveats I think the overall payoff from this episode was good enough. This season still will rub me the wrong way though.

I didn’t mind this final episode. It felt very rushed and paced quite quickly. It was also quite safe. But things did come full circle. Home lander begging makes a lot of sense. Butcher not being able to let go of his hatred and having to go makes sense. Was a safe finale, but wasn’t a terrible one. Would probably have worked better if this finale was split into 2 episodes

This episode is weird for me, i feel like the character writing/narratives are fire but everything else around it is kinda dookie. I did expect a larger scale crash out from HL(like taking out a city block or at least just the crowd laser he has been dreaming of), and it feels kinda shallow for a climax fight(also taking the deep to an ocean and trying to appeal to dudes sensabilities again when it's the deep is just kinda wild to me). But it wrapped up really well for the characters, everyone got fitting and imo solid endings(even if i think the way it was done isn't the best) and all in all i'm satisfied where the plot/characters settled in the end. Which is not always the case tbf.

Deep didn’t die harsh enough. Starlight never really leveled up (she’s be flickering the whole show and halfway floating since season 3). Ashley and Sage just get away with shit. Gave the Gen V squad the Wayward Sisters treatment iykyk. Oh Father going out like Black Bolt when MM should’ve had his arms blown off trying to hold the gag on his mouth. And talk about a no stakes finale like Stranger Things. Only people who died were bad guys and an old dog. Even the people who switched sides last second got off easy. All in all, a great season finale of Supernatural. Kripke really has a way of adding so much to a plot he does nothing with 80% of it

this wasnt GOT but it was on Stranger Things level. Some parts were ight but overall very underwhelming and the entire season 5 felt rushed or incomplete. Homelander I get he needs a pathetic end but the final fight shouldnt be pathetic as well. Scorched earth? They werent even scorching the building. It felt the same underwhelming fight with the Mind Flayer where the final boss just didnt feel as strong or catastrophic as it shouldve been. I was waiting to see cities burn, countries in chaos. And all I got was a watered down fight of S3 EP 6....

I think the funniest part about this ending is: what's stopping Vought from creating another, albeit weaker or easier-to-control, Homelander? They still have Soldier Boy on ice and more than enough research to create a sup. Not to mention the sup babies from all those seasons ago? Edgar made it clear to MM that capitalism will ultimately reign supreme, and it seems we just ended up in a similar, but slightly different, place from where we started.

Jon begrudgingly saves the world even after Dany proclaimed she was going to wipe out more cities and refused to be king. He killed Dany and was exiled for it. Also, Butcher’s fate makes so much sense. It reminds me so much of Thorfinn in a way where he spent so many years trying to kill this one guy to avenge someone else. But after achieving it. What’s left? Butcher wasn’t really planning to kill all supes because he thought it was best. He was empty and always needed a place to aim his anger and grief towards. Whether that’s homelander or anyone else. Becca really was Butcher’s anchor. Someone holding him back from hurting himself and others. Keeping him grounded. She herself mentions in season 2 that despite loving him, she knows his violent outbursts. He’s a guy, heavily abused as a kid who hates bullies. Ryan and Terror were the only things left of her to him and Ryan didn’t want to be part of his life and Terror died. What does that leave him with? His original goal of vengeance against supes

The issue was not only that they take away his super speed though. Does V1 enhance Supes' abilities or does it just make Supes immune to the virus and gain immortality? I could have sworn Homelander was stronger when he fought Soldier Boys and Temp-V-ed Butcher back in season 3. Now, even before Ryan came, Butcher was capable of overpowering Homelander alone, albeit momentarily, and he and Kimiko have no issue taking on the lazer blast??

After GOT and Chainsawman I honestly don't think I could be disappointed with an ending above 5/10. I enjoyed this entire season for what is was, plot was ass but pure entertainment and fun for me nonetheless. Had fun with the show and it isn't completely ruined to me like GOT.

My biggest problem with the finale is honestly how Homelander lost. Butcher and Kimiko shouldn't have been able to contest Homelander for nearly as long as they did. They did the same thing in season 3's finale. But, seriously... if this was the case they just needed to add Annie with season 3 Butcher and they could've BEEN jumped Homelander. SB even made a point that neck snaps are still viable options with supes this strong. Butcher's death seemed kinda shoehorned. Why wouldn't Hughie tell ANYONE what was happening? Also, when did MM and Ryan become so close?? Kimiko got the Bonnie Bennett treatment. All that G force Annie putting on that baby through 🫠 She was getting rocked ALL SERIES... NONSTOP... and is going back for more. This time pregnant as hell... baby toast

The deep and Ashley were pretty much the only good thing about this. Too little too late for a show that really should have ended two seasons ago. Remember when Homelander flying around searching for the characters was a major point of tension for the main characters in season 1? They managed to kill the tension so hard even Homelander groveling wasn't really enough to make up for all the wheel spinning they did.

hot take apparently, while a bit rushed, i liked the episode. People were saying that it was some GoT level ending which made me really worried but they were reaaaaally underestimating how bad GoT was. Most of the season was pretty weak after the first episodes but i do think they sticked the landing pretty good with what they had. A bit sad that they didnt give time for Homelander to kind of go beast mode and that he stayed in the white house for 99% of the episode, this is probably the biggest issue with this ending. EDIT : damn i wrote this before listening to the end talk and they kinda said the same shit fuck me this just feels like repeating LMAO

They hyped Marie up as being a Homelander tier threat and then we never saw anything come of that or really anything from Gen V. All this to say, there were a lot of flaws and it felt multiple plot threads kinda just fizzled out but the ending with Homelander and Butcher was amazing and I’m glad to have been able to experience this journey😂

He was STRONGER than Deep. They talked about him flying IN THIS SEASON just for him to pretty much not fight back at all when Deep killed him. I’d take GOT S8 over this. The hound vs the mountain was great, the visuals (the ones we can see at least) of the battle of winterfell were great, the dialogue and interaction between characters as they were held up in the castle were great, the dragon lighting up the streets of kings landing looked really good, the rest was pretty bad but at least it felt like a final season. This season of the boys was just a series of fetch quests, giving kimiko the anti super laser in the second to last episode, kill all the opps in less than 5 minutes in the finale. This shit is so ass and the worst part is that it isn't even complete ass, like clearly there is a good ending there if they just would change somethings. Somethings I liked: Homelander's death scene was done really well. Deep being killed by his old ocean buddies was good, letting starlight be the one to kill him was good too. Hughie killing butcher, Kimiko getting soldier boys blast, Homelander's death being televised. Things I hated: the entire final fight scene was garbage, we were teased that something interesting would happen, that Homelander would snap but he never did so. Somehow Kimiko surviving Homelander's lasers after previously in the season he easily cut her in half. Also sage being useless. Also the cast from Gen V being useless too. What I would have preferred they did this season. Commit to making Butcher a villain. We should have had scenes of butcher going around killing supes doing his own thing. Homelander should have become much stronger after injecting V1 you know make it seem like he is actually a threat. We should have gotten scenes of protesters going against Homelander and he decides to kill them all, maybe even have entire states rally against him and he goes around destroying cities that are against him. Just imagine a scene of Homelander asking which states are against him, he then flies up into the sky and goes on a rampage, and then flies into outer space and we can see the damage he is done. The final fight against homelander should have been much longer, it should have included more people and more of the boys should have died in the end.

They certainly pulled together a workable finale, but due to them canceling Gen V and spending a lot of time this season setting up Vought Rising, this season suffered a lot and so they had less time and material to work with on the finale. I think having Kimiko be the anti-Homelander weapon was a miss; it should have been Marie so that way Gen V wouldn't be completely useless. There's a lot of characters who could have gotten something more meaningful to do in this episode specifically, let alone the entire season.

It’s probably be my last comment on this, but Ryan losing his powers make no sense considering the whole premise of Soldier Boy’s ability fries the V serum out of your blood but he doesn’t have V in his blood. He’s a natural born supe. Also butcher going “Scorched Earth” on the world because his dog died. It’s not that great of a reason considering you set up in last season he was planning to do it, seemingly changed his mind, and then his dog died, now he wants to murder all of them but outside of that Excellent acting between Jack and Karl 10/10 fitting end. Show as a whole 7.5/10 last two seasons and parts of S3 outside of the acting, was horrible.

The opposites of their starts were their ends. The first noir died from not talking enough (sharing the soldier boy info to Homelander) while the new one died from talking too much. The Deep was loyal to the creatures of the sea and Homelander and was outcast by both. Later when he fights with Starlight (who he assaulted at the start of the show in their first encounter) he ended up in the water where an octopus violated the opposite end as a means of killing him being starlights last encounter with the deep. Homelander hated the idea of being human and feared dying and that’s exactly how he died. It was an alright finale. I just wish it was more crazy because at this point I’m questioning how Homelander didn’t escape because Huey, soldier boy and Butcher couldn’t hold him down in season 3 but Ryan and Butcher can now? Not to mention Kimiko not immediately having the rage to activate it in front of the guy who took Frenchie from her, was kind of dumb in my opinion. Also, shouldn’t Ryan still have his powers since he wasn’t given V and was born with them? Anyway, I think it definitely could’ve been worse but it definitely could’ve been better so I’m stuck in this middle ground.

The only reason I continued watching this show was because of Antony Starr, and at least he always gave 100% despite how awful everything else was around him. I was honestly surprised at how well the Butcher/Hughie was done, even though it felt a bit forced. I respect the message the show tried to convey at times, even though it was terribly over-the-head and lacking all nuance, it's something that has to be said at times, but it's not enough to save it from being a disaster of a show since S4 (and honestly large parts of S3 get smoothed over because of how much Homelander/Soldier Boy/Butcher carried things at times) It's not anywhere close to GoT. I think that's absurd to say. I will miss seeing Homelander and a little bit of Butcher but besides that I really don't give a shit about anyone else in this universe, but obviously I'll enjoy watching Lupa, Roshi, and Sheera react to Vought Rising. The show used to be a solid 8/10 up until the last episode of Season 3, then it completely fell off afterward. The plot became messy and all over the place. The fight choreography was never amazing to begin with, but it somehow got even more repetitive and lazy. The dialogue also became way edgier and more forced, like it was trying too hard. Don’t even get me started with the crazy amount of power inconsistencies the show had. It went from being a show I genuinely enjoyed watching on my own to something I could only sit through with patreon, otherwise I probably would’ve dropped it. It was never on the level of Game of Thrones, so I don’t really get why people keep making that comparison just because the quality declined. And honestly, I’m glad I skipped Season 2 of Gen V, since apparently none of it really ended up mattering anyway.

Waited 5 seasons to see a continent-level crashout from Homelander, instead we get a lame final fight with a single calling card to the comics, being the crowbar. This series is right up there with Game of Thrones-level disappointment. So tired of badly written slop taking over cinema. Oh well. Time to watch an actual masterpiece next, Project Hail Mary.

Both of them thinking they're God but once backed into a corner the yell and whine like babies because without their powers theyre just mortal men who aint shit. I have a deep disdain for endings that nerf the main villain to the fucking ground so that the show can wrap it up. Went from Homelander keeping pace with A-Train and easily beating characters much more powerful than Cancer Butcher or Kimiko, to him only barely being stronger than any other individual in the room and moving so slow that Butcher's tentacles could grab him when trying to escape, the same ones that appear to move in slowmotion when Homelander and A-Train are moving at their full speeds. Bro flew to space and back in a few seconds but couldn't fly out of the room before Butcher's Tenta-Tumors could grab him.

And then, Homelander ended up in a similar situation. His exact words about Jesus were, "He was tortured, stripped of his dignity, and then killed." That's some serious foreshadowing, kids.

I liked what they did with Butcher, glad he was the one who took down Homelander. That was just mean killing off Terror but I understand why, obviously. Plot conveniences aside (Homelander not using superspeed), the way he was ultimately killed and all the whimpering and crying leading up to it was satisfying, I thought. Hughie being the one to stop Butcher was good, I liked that, and that Hughie stayed himself. Everything else I didn’t like very much. Why would Starlight take Deep to the ocean, she didn’t know about the fish beef, WHY would she take him to the place where he’s in his element and can call for backup? Having Kimiko be the one to take away Homelander’s powers, uninspired…she didn’t even want to do it, she was just a plot device. And that whole anime moment that freezes time, where she sees Frenchie, took me out of the action, made me roll my eyes too. Love Kimiko though, glad she gets to live in peace. I would’ve preferred it if Marie was the one who took Homelander’s powers away, with her blood powers—she could’ve stripped the V out of his blood. Jordan could’ve helped with the fight and it could’ve just been Emma who looked after that truck full of people (or she could’ve helped Hughie and MM with Oh Father). But yeah, left too much to be desired for me. Season 5 was overall a disappointment. Hopefully the Gen V crew gets to appear in a spin-off and actually do something.

Nothing will ever match the disappointment I felt when I watched the last season of GOT. And I watched it YEARS after everyone else did. I knew it couldn’t get that bad lol BUT, I thought the finale was meh. 6/10. My biggest problem was the super long setup of the season just to amount to a low-budget fight with Homelander. I wish they had put more money into the scenes and had Homelander actually cause the amount of chaos the posters were indicating when he got the V1. That said, I do think they wrapped the characters up well, aside from Gen V and Soldier Boy of course. They’ll definitely bring them back though, so that’s a plus I guess. Antony Starr did amazing as Homelander. His begging and pleading felt accurate to me. Shit had me dying 😂 but still my least favorite season. I need these Amazon shows to step up their production budgets. That ESPECIALLY includes Invincible with its animation

For me the franchise fight like eating fresh out pizza it was great in the beginning but then you put in the fridge for a few days and you come back to finish off that cold pizza, its not the best but it’ll do for now. Personally i think it was only saved by the actors everyone did amazing with their characters, would i watch it again probably only the first 2 seasons and make up the rest from there, too many plot holes left behind with them trying to scramble to wrap up the story. Am i annoyed?, yes, Am I satisfied enough to move on from this?, also yes. 10/10 would not recommend this show to people who love to deep dive into films but would definitely recommend to light hearted watchers who don’t mind hitting pot hole on the road. 💜

Why didn’t they give Ryan the Crank-that-Soldier-Boy-chest beam? He actually has super speed and would be able to hit Homelander, while staying consistent with Homelander’s powers. Also, Ryan should’ve kept his powers. He was the only natural supe.

I am OK with the ending but disapointed how we got there. I will just get into this final episode as we all know this season dragged on with pointless shit just to stretch it out to 8 episodes. Previously Homelander takes on Butcher and soldier boy and he was still winning but now for some magical reason Butcher pretty much deals with him with a little bit of help from Ryan who is weaker than soldier boy and this is before Kimiko takes away his powers smh. With how massive a threat Homelander has always been, I felt in the end he would need to get jumped by mutiple people some of which would die bringing him down. I was hopeful for a bit thinking they brought Gen V to help take him down but NOPE!!! This whole season could have been saved with an epic Thanos level fight scene but instead we got this. A lot of people expected them to GOT the ending with how bad this season has been but dont bail them out just because they lowered expectations and the ending was OK.
