Maybe. So currently the manga is on chapter 96 and this ep left off at the beginning of chapter 16. That's about 2 chaps per ep, though I know more beefy chapters will likely take up an episode on their own or even be split into separate episodes.

I think you need to pass the fifth test before even claiming apprentices, so I'm fairly sure Qifrey has already passed all five, and isn't just on his fifth one. Agott's about to do her second, and...I assume Olruggio might have only done four? He has no apprentices / doesn't particularly seem interested in getting any besides co-parenting lmao Also I don't think Eyeball Brimmed Cap has two more twinned seal medals, I'm pretty sure that's just their original one and the one they retrieved from Coco's bottle so Qifrey couldn't study it!

I feel like it's less fully evil and more hyperfixated on not allowing any magic of certain kinds that they'd willing let people die of curable diseases than risk someone taking healing magic too far. If healing magic works the way everything else does in this world, it's not hard to imagine a "witch biologist" could make Super Ebola or something.

I mean yeah that's the crux of the setting. You could pretty much boil the conflict down to Knights Moralis on the side of Fascism and the Brim Hats on the side of Anarchy. It's like one degree removed from that trope where every Church in fantasy anime is fighting a war against demonkind and somehow innocent beastfolk get caught up in the magical racism.

I wonder why are there no stamps being used? Is drawing/crafting them the only way to make spells? Cause I would have one set of stamps for circles and one set of stamps for letters that way I could use spell more easily and it could be easier to modify from a starting point. Also if typography exists in this world, I wonder how different styles and fonts affect spells? A graphic designer would go crazy in this world🧐

Off the top of my head, there are a couple problems with stamps. Stamps aren't exactly uniform in how they apply ink, so once pressed on paper or whatever, you might not get a complete spell, or have potentially dangerous errors in the spell. Also if the stamp were in the shape of a complete spell, the spell could activate immediately from the stamp once dipped in ink, which may not be ideal depending on the spell. Overall, it seems like anything that could be done with a stamp, could just be accomplished by having incomplete spells already prepared, or having a set of rings made with the desired spell on them, both of which are a guarantee since you just need to complete the circle, or put the two halves of the rings together.

This was actually brought up in a sense by an acquaintance of mine -- they're an apothecary with a wealth of medical knowledge, but they can't recommend particular treatments that they know would help certain ailments because legally the business they work for isn't a medical service. That's the problem with one size fits all broad prohibitions like the Knights Moralis do; innocent people end up suffering or being inconvenienced and having to take the long way around because of it.

Them deciding to memory blast an entire line of witches dedicated to healing is actually SKETCH af. Deciding magic is meant to help people, but healing sickness and disease can't be apart of that help makes little sense. That type of black and white mentality is likely what gave rise to the Brimmed Hats. Like in the previous ep when the guy was begging for them to fix his son's (or brother's?) legs. Imagine learning there's a spell for that but you can't use it simply because higher ups say so. I could see people easily turning to the extremist side if it meant saving their loved ones...

Thing is I don't think Qifry can wipe Tartah's memory because we don't know how specific the memory wipe spell is. For the grandpa it could be he was scrubbed the past 30 mins Qifry was there or who knows how complicated it is for a precise wipe. It's probably a very intricate design to just draw off rip.

Lupa, Coco said two episodes ago that the her paper wasn't big enough to draw a spell strong enough to lift the boulder, and the ink man last episode mentioned that the flash of light was way too bright to be caused by a spell circle that small. So yeah, they have mentioned that size matters when it comes to spell circles.

First of all, I don't think what Qifrey is doing about the Brimmed Hat's is immoral in any way. I think it's just not above board. Maybe Qifery will even take on Tartah as an apprentice in exchange for not looking into Qifrey's business any further. It clearly hinting that Tartah would love to learn magic by what he was saying when he was running to catch the ferry.

They specifically tried to catch Coco, everyone else was because they chased after her, and it seems implied to me that he has no intention of intentionally harming Coco but just using very heavy handed teaching methods (though I'd be stretching it if I claimed they'd be bent out of shape if she was harmed). But Aggot literally did the same thing to her lmao. Also, giving her the forbidden book isn't itself evil. They didn't goad her into doing anything in specific, lest I remind y'all that healing spells are forbidden. I ain't saying they aren't antagonists, just saying they haven't really done anything like properly evil.
