Kreutz’s spiel about “discovering the unknown within him” was the real reason for all of this. The rest was just sophistry to keep everyone from being able to argue against him. If this had been a normal year and he’d had six months with Will, he would’ve disappeared Will and had him strapped to a table to be taken apart within the first month.

His talents are great, but his personality is problematic. Someone who insists on being antagonistic to others for no real benefit or gain, simply to feel superior to others, deserves to be passed over. Letting them join is guaranteed to make a workplace too toxic to get anything done. If the end result is that they’re going to be fired anyway, then there’s no point in inflicting the asshole on others in the first place.

Also Julius didn't get picked by any other faction because he is an ice user so the other factions can't train him only elfie. The only people who get chosen by multiple factions are those who can use multiple elements which they said in this episode but Julius only uses ice magic

thats the thing about these "bullied mc becomes actually strong" shows. They really go the length to make these bullies extra annoying and villainous. Its one thing to have it in the beginning but after each and every thing Will does, its still not enough? And Will just takes it too. It just a silly ass premise and the more I watch these shows, the more cringe it gets. This author did something similar (if not the exact same) with Danmachi. Will and Bell are basically the same person and he really went the length to make Bell the same underdog position where everyone was calling him names and shit. I liked Danmachi cuz of the side characters and nice world building but god that trope gets way too annoying at some point.

I thought this when I was read this part in the manga, but seeing it in the anime really emphasizes again that these magicians are RACIST. Like bro they put their science and resources into MAKING a monster that can’t be beaten with hands but only low level magic to suppress the dwarfs, who have already been established to be weak to magicians in any sort of fight. They can already hold them down with no issue and the dwarfs are peaceful why waste resources doing the most for no reason.

I think the reason Kreutz somewhat "overruled" the Magia Vander is because he is the director of the upper institute, so he has a bit more sway over decisions for general entry
