Clara stuff is so satisfying cause I been saying since season 1 why the hell is she always in every scene. Anytime anything of importance happens, she’s there. But she is never more than a background character with a few speaking line. Now we see why. I think the finale is gonna be good. We have the Henry stuff coming to an ahead so either Henry or Victor will die. Elgin likely dies and potentially the man turns into him since right before he said he can only turn into people who died here. Clara probably dies. Fatima looks like she is turning into one of those things jade and tabby in the tunnels with the creatures. We still know at some point Julie goes back in time to when her dad dies. So that still has to happen. The finale has a lot of potential to be a banger, but only concern is there is another season. Things are shaping up like a series finale a little bit to me. But the fifth season will be the last confirmed. So what do they do to stretch the plot another season.

Any time someone tells me this show is dragging on, it just says to me that they don't actually like the show. They just want the answers to the mystery handed to them so they can move on. Which is real dumb since the mystery is the whole point of the show, and that is obvious from the first episode. It's like not bothering to read a mystery novel and just flipping to the end. Yes it’s slow but the episode DID accomplish something. The main key reveal is that the RITUAL specifically required Tabitha and Jade to enter the tunnels; otherwise, it was never going to work. That’s why the MIY was so annoyed that Clara didn’t tell him sooner. Up until then, he was confident their plan would fail because they were ‘doing it wrong’ by sending multiple people into the tunnels instead of the two who were actually needed. We never knew this information before.

Because I'm absolutely loving this so far, I will agree the pacing has slowed down but I like what we have gotten, the side plots are interesting(at least to me) especially since I feel they will converge into the main plot down the road, my favorite plot right now is Sophia/MIY and it's whole thing but some others I saw said that it shouldn't be going on this long. Just interested in what others think since I would give this season a 6.5 so far which is actually a little high for me, but in terms of other seasons it's probably in 3rd or last place of I'm being honest, still enjoying it a lot though.

I fully agree with roshi at the end. And imo its ultimatively why lost is better, you actually get answers progressively and we see the characters backstories, this show has so much more narrative wheelspin which instead could be used to actually make the characters compelling. Not that all of them are bad but most of them you dont care about. Also when the woman in blue was at colony house when tabitha was leaving and they kept showing her had me thinking maybe shes gonna do something to ethan, killing him off would be a wild twist

Thats a hell of a lot of things going on, of course theyre not gonna conclude all the story lines before the end,, why would they..? It seems like people just want answers right away, if thats the case, and you dont like any characters this show isnt for you. So, I am about to contribute to Roshi's "Donna is management" congregation, it popped into my head when I was rewatching season 1. So, the creatures at night tear their victims apart but they always leave the face, we've seen multiple times now. Now, Donna, her story doesn't correspond to the nature of these creatures, she said in season 1 that the creatures ripped off her sister's face but why only her? Every other kill they've done since the death of Megan and Lauren, they always leave the face. So either the writers forgot or Donna is lying and is actually management or at least tied to this place. Someone probably already pointed this out but I thought I'd share it anyway.

Idk if i would say dragged but i get the sentiment, shows like this are a slow burn in general. The nature of mystery with all the distractions and shit you wouldn't need to incorporate normally being necessary to throw you off(even if it doesn't work for you individually, you as the reader/anyone else). Lowkey i feel like this season has had one of the better pacing of all of them outside maybe the first.

I feel y'all are going WAAY too hard on Elgin in this ep. It really does feel like you guys expect the characters within the story to have knowledge that there's no way that they'd have. Him showing yellow man the picture makes sense, I'm sorry. No one knows that the yellow man can shapeshift, no one knows that the yellowman HAS shapeshifted and entered the community, and there isn't an ounce of suspicion on the girl. To him it was literally just as simple as "Haha she kinda looks like you" and that's completely valid considering the fact that he has absolutely no reason to think any more of it. This is just a broad example of confirmation bias. You're picking up on small hints because you KNOW the truth, but to a person that doesn't already know the final answer, things like this will slip by.

I honestly don't understand the complaints. Genuinely. People keep saying it's dragging or they need answers but this season has literally given us a ton of answers and they had a plan and put it into action. The one exception is the whole Julie side quest thing but that's probably going to be important in the final season because we still haven't seen her go back to when her dad died. The show was always going to be 5 seasons so what are you guys expecting to hurry up? They give you all the answers this season and then what? This show never had an end goal to begin with, they didn't even know if leaving was a possibility. All they've been doing is trying to survive, I think y'all forget how long some of these characters have been here, for victor it was damn near his whole life. So yea I genuinely don't know what you're rushing towards, we don't even know how it will end.

Like Roshi said they started digging up the bones at the very end of this episode, but we learned they had to dig up the bones last episode. To me that’s intentional dragging out of the plot. What new info did we get this season that we didn’t get last season? Fatima learned she got some type of effect on Smiley, we learned that then they just completely dropped it. Why? Probably cuz they’re gonna drag that huge potential plot point to next season, possibly the finale.

A hot take that nobody asked for, directed at some of the people in the comments section. There are not many hills I'm willing to die on, but I think the "let them cook" hill for this show is one of them. The writers wrote this show start to finish with a grand design in mind. We have so many examples of this with plots being seeded multiple seasons before given any confirmation by the characters. E.g. they seeded the story-walking/time-travel plot in S1E2, and it took us until S3E10 to confirm that was possible. Even that S1E2 interaction between Julie and the Nightmare creature hasn't been paid off yet. I don't think the point of the story telling in this show is to give us story defining answers every single episode or even for most of a season. A LOT of people in the comments seem to forget that the average amount of time that passes per episode relative to the characters is ~ 1 day. Between Jim crashing the RV and his death was less than a month. The fact that the characters have found out as much as they have in 4-5 weeks since Tabitha and Jade have arrived is INSANE relative to Victor, Donna, Boyd etc, who have been there for literal YEARS. Given that we have had 39 episodes thus far with our characters, in which they have experienced about 39 days, accounting for sleep that is like 600hrs since the start of the show that the characters are awake to do stuff and in that time they also need to cook, clean, eat, drink, shit, shower, walk to every fucking character they want to talk to (that's even if they are where they think they are), they can't just use phones to call and text each other... Most of their time would realistically be spent doing these basic primitive things, it is logically consistent that inter-character drama and character development is filling the rest of the time in a normal day. I understand how this can be perceived as "dragging on" but some in-show days span multiple episodes, for us the viewer, yeah it might feel strange to watch the show over 3 weeks and wonder why they haven't followed up on something from 3 episodes ago, but relative to the characters it was something that happened yesterday, or the day before, not 3 weeks ago. What would your critical thinking and mental health be like after 39 days with no modern technology, the constant threat of torture, not being able to leave or do anything about it, having a curfew from sunset to sunrise or you'll be tortured to death by being ripped apart by monsters, like fuck me. All while some cunt in a yellow suit has been actively sabotaging or ensuring this "game" is staying on track behind the scenes since the very first episode. Don't even get me started on the fact that this cunt can draw people into town from the real world at any given moment because it suits the game/story he is playing/telling. A side quest if you will from another POV. The show obviously has Mystery, Folk, Psychological, and Supernatural horror themes which I absolutely love. However, at the same time it is also written as a Drama and Thriller, the arguing, the friendships and relationships forged, trust gained and lost, I love that side of the story too with these characters, it's not just about the heros and villains fighting it out, it shows you the strengths and flaws of these scared, tortured and frustrated people, when they gain hope from some progress, just to have it ripped away a few episodes later. What's the fun if this show just gets right to the point and answers everything all at once? That wouldn't feel earned by the characters, and that's even if there are answers, whose to say that this isn't some fucked up place with no way home that makes for an interesting story between flawed human beings.

Yeah the season started strong but the last 2/3episodes have been kinda slower (excluding the endings) But cant lie i dont blame the writers because even with the slow repetitive dialogue i still see tons of comments either not understanding certain convos or asking questions that have been clearly answered (not under these reactions just online in general) so i think as the shows is getting into its more complex phase (re the rituals and uncovering how the nightmares work etc) I think the writers are trying to take it slower to of course build tensions, suspense etc but also make sure ppl understand but yhh means for everyone else it starts to get boring overall this season hasnt even been bad i think it just had less immediate death and destruction like in other seasons but i guess if were at the stage where its more MiY sowing seeds to make them turn on eachother that kinda makes sense

Don't get me wrong right from is enjoyable I like it but the way they give new information and more stuff that this place does is not helping their case at all. This is like what roshi and many other people have said before this whole season. They've been constantly bringing in new plot lines that lead to no where it feels like they've barely done anything in this season until the last few episodes. And you right we did get some answers but it's still not enough and I do agree with you that they might bring back Julie's plot line for next season but if they don't then that further helps my point.

And I also agree with roshi with what he said about how almost for this entire season all they've been doing is just talking and then something big happens in the last five minutes of the episode. Just for it to not be brought up again the next episode now don't get me wrong. This doesn't happen every episode but they still do it too much and just because they have one more season left doesn't mean that they still have to withhold this much information for the next season. Somethings did get answered this season but it still wasn't a lot now if they continue to do this same thing for the final season than it's going to be a problem.
