I highly recommend reading the manga from the beginning regardless. The art style is highly detailed and it has incredibly creative paneling. The anime added some wonderful new content in places but it also lost some of the magic of the original in others.

As a manga reader, you’re not wrong :/ this is literally right before shit gets so good in this arc Unfortunately, production for this season was hell to even get off the ground. So, from what I’ve heard, they ended up having to cut one season into two just to afford the first season at all. I really wish they sped up some of the earlier episodes tho bc like while the animation is clean as hell, some scenes took sooooo long and ate into the time for this arc :/

They didn't connect that the Brimmed Cap wasn't affected by the Romonon spell. They thought that he got shunted back to the entrance. None of them thought they were in danger until Agott remembered that he was flying the whole time

That Brim was probably aiming to turn Eunnui into a shadowy amorphous blob, but because the enchantments on the cloak were suitable for shadows, then the magic he used incorporated the cloak into itself, turning Eunnui into a shadow scaled wolf.

The reason the brimmed cap transformed Euini is to force the girls to USE forbidden magic to change him back. That is their point, they're trying to convince Coco that forbidden magic can be useful so that she, someone who have not grown with the morality of "all forbidden magic is evil" like the other girls, will be persuaded to use it to save a friend.

I also think they're targeting Coco specifically because of her true love of magic. Unlike people born into the witch society who either see it as a matter of fact, a given, a means to make money, societal status, something to be guarded, a given path in their lives, or even ordinary, Coco has a deep love of magic completely untainted by all of that. Even witches who do love magic probably don't love it as deep of a level as Coco let alone share her outsider perspective. Her growth and speed of her learning spells is exponential compared to the other girls who've lived with magic all their lives. This and the former things I mentioned are things I think the brimmed hats aim to exploit. To make a brimmed hat unlike any other to usher in new age of forbidden magic.

Lupa-san, cut them some slack, they are kids and they are in panic. Just like Agott thought saying Coco isn't here could convince the Brimmed Cap to retreat, they thought knocking him off the road = the Romonon road spell take effect and he would be suck back out to the entrance. They have been running nonstop since seeing him and have no time the process the fact of he is able to fly all this time. P.S. Agott was also flying when she was pushing the slide, but since her hands were on the handle made by Richeh from the road, she technically never left the road. They probably thought the Brimmed Cap did something similar too, and only Agott realized the fact that he was being able to fly normally the whole time when he lifted her off the road completely.

Euini modified the spell on his cloak, so while Agott and Richeh still look like 2 myrphons, the myrphons can see his human form when being inside his cloak, hence why they were panicking.

I think that the fixed format of 12 or 13 episodes for an anime each season clearly punish some anime more than others. Some manga just have unique pacing and the anime adaptation would end the season in the middle of a boss fight or somewhere extremely random unless they condense more chapters into an episode or add filler contents, which may lead to different problem for the studios and negatively affect viewers' experience.

Not having any part of your body on the path causes the labyrinth to suck you up and spit you out back at the entrance. Iirc, the labyrinth used to just kill people after they fell off way in the past, but it got changed to the way it is now.

True, I fuck with lupa heavy but he tends to have that perspective of this isn’t what I’ll do in that situation when in reality us viewers are looking at it from a third party’s perspective and not from a first person perspective, which also kinda makes him be very harsh to people who don’t act perfectly or rather according to what he thinks should happen. Yup that's Mayuri's VA xD About what the Brimmed Cap was saying, he's basically casting forbidden magic on the children (the "sacrifices" he was talking about) that can be only saved by the casting of more forbidden magic. Currently, magic is forbidden to be performed on people, so by transforming Euini, he's forcing CoCo and the other kids to want to save them by breaking this cardinal rule. He was originally going to do this by tattooing a seal on Agott, which was mentioned by the Knights Moralis to be an illegal thing to do as well.

This story is just so interesting man. I love these duel perspective stories. Obviously Forbidden Magic looks evil because it has less restrictions so there's more chance of horrible stuff but at the same time...it also has that same amount of chance for good since there's no limits. But then you get to the argument of playing God, or needing to experiment to find the good things. There's good/bad sides in this but there's a large gray area too imo

They've been wearing cloaks that make them look like those penguin things. They showed us that at the beginning of the test but for the audience we only see them as normal. However, Euini modified is cloak to make it a cloak of shadows instead of a cloak of mirroring, so people can't see him under the cloak. That's why when he brought the girls and the penguin things under the cloak with him, the penguins saw the girls as penguins because they still have their cloaks on, but they saw Euini as some random human that just appeared. That's why they freaked out

I dont think they are recruiting, I think they are forcing them to use forbidden magic to save their friends. This world is so rigid, even if its to save someone, they will still try to eradicate you. Which I guess is a form of recruiting perhaps.

We actually have no idea when S2 is coming. The studio hasn't said anything at all, but other sources have posted that it's currently in production, and predict that it will be 2027 before we get it. I personally would have preferred if the first season was delayed to make it a full 26 eps, but apparently even creating this season put them way over the timeline (this was supposed to come out 2025). They're choosing quality over speed so we're just gonna have to be patient 🥲

What a nonsense place to end the season. The cave test is like another episode or two at most. And we have no idea when the next season is coming. What exec made that decision? They don't need to touch this show any more. Otherwise, this was an amazing show, top to bottom. Art style, animation, VA, narrative...absolute gold.
