To be fair, this anime was set to have 24 episodes. So for a 24 episode show, I think the pacing is fine. You can tell this was meant to have a long story

They’ve cut themselves off from the outside world for generations, and not only told themselves that they’re better than the people living down the mountain, but once they get Break and Seal, they’ll conquer the whole ass world. They don’t even know what guns are! Honestly, I’m with Old Man Kagemori’s assessment on these Higashis. I understand why Yuru doesn’t feel like they’re that hopeless, but those are some nostalgia tinted glasses that he’s looking through. The Higashis are bum ass bitches. Granted, I don’t think they should all be killed, but they need a reality check before someone really comes along and has them choking on their aspirations.

Mimicry is a common thing in Japanese folklore Roshi. It could be via shapeshifting or voice. The tanuki or racoon dog, fox spirits, the Yamabiko which is a mountain spirit that echoes back what someone screams, just to name a few. Also, am I the only one that thought those daemons the shaman had looked like the Pringles guy and his wife 🤣?

That dude really could've just given them deep cuts or leave them badly injured and attack only the ones that fight back hard. This episode reminded me of my hate for Gabby cause she didn't have to finish that girl's mom like that or the other adults previously, someone gotta clap her kneecaps expeditiously. Also, I'm with Roshi, that big dude's deamons suck cause not only did they completely fail to defend him but they over here doing complex stuff like serving tea but not telling me there's whole dude in my guts. Those two deformed pikmin are just spectators, send them back to smash bros.

The way they were talking about how they should have acquired Break sooner and the Shaman basically confirming that the Village sent the "bandits" after Yuru, they are definitely involved

The show literally told you they arent common folk. They wanted to kill Yuru and manipulate him to fight the Kagemoris. The children are the only one being fooled and told some bullshit it seems, the adults know about modern tech.

One reason why probably a lot of Daemons can transform and mimic people/objects is because folklore monsters just can. A lot of stories of them parading around as people in some way , shape or form to blend and lure in humans. Kitsune and Tanuki are the most commonly known to do this.

Im over here wondering why I didnt notice that, but then I remembered I've never seen the sub for FMAB. Its the one show where the dub is so good, it doesnt hit the same without it.

Yeah same, the dub is really thar good. Funnily enough, both versions in sub have almost all different voice actors aside from a few like Ed while the dub for both keep mostly the same voices.

Mimicry is fairly common all across the world. The faeries in Europe are just as good as it as the yokai in Japan.

The common folk explicitly talked about how they "should have gotten seal", and shown no surprise nor outrage at the fat guy telling them that they had send 5 people to kill yuru through the years. The children are other things, but the adults are simply getting what they deserve

Personally, I find it most agitating how many people keep dying before we can get any more proper answers for like the whole warfare bullshi and the secret factions we still haven’t learned much about yet, at this point theres probably only like handful of adults and kids left in Yurus village like bro 💀 seriously if bros not LIVID once he comes by just to check up on it, idk what kinda mentality our mc supposed to be leaning towards…. don’t get me wrong. He’s certainly and usually a stoic boy, in the sense that his mountain life has helped strengthen and harden him, but he’s not emotionless and he still has a big heart

It's not a common ability. The only reason the Kagemori clan has so many people that can see daemons is because they actively recruit daemon-users. Plus, the Higashi Village faction is implied to have more people on the outside who live in the modern world. The people in the village are only there for the purpose of maintaining the masquerade and birthing twins.

Unfortunately, the grandma wasn't a mimic. Old lady's trapped in a genjustu of some kind. Remember, the mother's side of the family are just normal people making them susceptible to situations like this cause they can't see daemons. Someone probably made a move on them first and the Kagemoris weren't able to get to them in time.

Except for the children, the adults know about the situation and it's worse than we thought. It gets explained little by little as we go and even in that particular point, we are fed breadcrumbs of how the entire village is in on getting these powers. I'm with the old man from the Kagemoris when it comes to the village because how you're going to "control" the world when you can't even see daemons??
