This is a really important distinction to make. An adaptation is meant to re-imagine a story, not just recreate it frame-by-frame. Big emotional arcs like Appa going missing and Aang's despair will probably happen, but the execution has to change for live-action. Ultimately, the original ATLA is a flawless masterpiece, and it’s okay to admit that nothing will ever beat it. Because we love this universe so deeply, our standards are incredibly high, which makes it tough to accept a new version. But if we stop expecting a perfect clone, we might actually enjoy the new spin on the story.

I will say that one thing I wish was approved upon or maybe I will see it later is Iroh’s character. I don’t get the same experience like I did with ATLA animation, but I will say I like the added lore they give to him on his past.

I suffered through every episode trying my hardest to give this season some grace, and I'd rather watch "The Great Divide" on repeat than whatever tf they did this season. Season 1 took stuff from Books 2 and 3 and even Legend of Korra, and now Season 2 is taking from Book 3, so at least they filmed back to back, but WHAT WILL YOU HAVE in Season 3 in terms of material? I knew they would location blend and was irritated when the trailer dropped, so I just know Season 3 is about to have elements from Korra because the timeline is messing up key character development moments. no, TLOK is much worse because it permanently stains the IP because its canonically part of this. This show can be ignored just as much as shamalamadingdongs movie so it being bad doesnt hurt the IP anywhere near as much as TLOK. Theres a reason why there was 2 years between ATLA and TLOK and eversince then we still havent gotten anything new excluding the leaked movie that is also ASS on all levels except visuals. And true fans understand live actions and never wanted one because the original was perfect as it was and any new adaptation implies that the original work didnt live up to its own potential (which is genuinely batshit insane considering that ATLA is the highest rated animated series of all time and people really looked at that and went "i can do WAY better than that") live action is not suited whatsoever for a univserse where people can bend the elements, even the animals arent normal from our perspective so we cant just take a pig chicken and put it in the background. They end up using cg elements, even cg actor replacements. Just re animate it if you hate the original visuals this much or go watch something else. Honestly this live action “adaptation” or whatever it wants to be called was not wanted or needed by anyone. We were all perfectly fine with our top-tier animated nostalgia. This just waters down everything that made the animated show great.

Lets start with the blending of episodes that dont make sense. S1 they had kyoshi telling aang about the Comet instead of roku, they did the lovers cave episode in S1 instead of S2. They mixed jet and bumi story lines together. Also in my own opinion, alot of these actors SUCK ASS. I didnt even finish S2 to tell you everything wrong but i will say they did SERPANTS PASS IN THE FIRST EPISODE AND IT DOESNT MAKE SENSE. Serpants pass episode only makes sense because appa was missing and they had no choice. Also toph was there for that and they did it without meeting her😂I also heard they “tried” to do Zuko alone while still focusing on other characters😂💀AND APPARENTLY ZUKO AND KATARA WERE ON SOME BATMAN AND ROBIN SHIT????? Why is the painted lady a vigilante? Why is zuko acting like batman in the middle of Ba Sing Se? I wouldnt be surprised if Zutara actually happens by the end of the netflix show. Just utter trash. If you enjoy it then you are a disgrace to the original show.

If they really cared about the source and cared about us the fans, they would have dedicated time towards production of all 3 seasons in a specific time frame to keep the image of a 12-13 yr old boy fighting to save the world.
