Nina didn't cheat. At least, it wasn't her idea. You can see one of the sword masters giving her a heavier wooden sword, and then nodding once she notices and looks at him. It was just an additional layer they added to test Eris, because they must've noticed that in her fight with Gino, she knocked the sword away immediately. When she tried doing the same to NIna, she wasn't able to, and her sword broke because there was an actual sword underneath (the cracked part came from making contact and breaking Eris' sword). Seems like the whole point was to show that Eris was relying on her brawling skills instead of honing her actual sword skills. They said that Gino kid is actually really good in sword fighting, but didn't get the chance to show any of it off because Eris jumped him lmao.

I actually don't know how a practice sword with the actual blade, or rods are made. However, my guess its probably a practice blade carved in two stages, both being one half of the other. That way you can hollow out the center to slot in the metal, then you just use a strong adhesive to combine the both pieces of wood.

But in reality, you wouldn't even get to see it with your own eyes. There's also some science behind this that if you reach the speed of light, color starts disappearing and couldn't catch up to you, which is why every time they use it, color disappears.

How are there still people that think Rudeus isn't a pedo? The entire point of season 1 is that he's an adult in a new body, and has all of the memories and maturity that he had in his previous life. Which he uses to his advantage constantly. We even see in later on when he's talking to the human god that he still views himself as an adult trapped in the body of a child. Only thing i’ll add is that it was less about brawling vs sword skill (she’s very skilled as a swordsman at this point and as next episode shows her real issue is her unbridled hostility) and more about her just barging in as a newcomer and making a big fuss in general.

True, but hostility was just one aspect that pertained specifically to the Water God Style - the one used by Isolte. That one seems to focus more on defense and parrying. Eris was used to being able to manipulate the opponent’s initial movements using the style taught to her by Ruijerd. That doesn’t work with Water God style because they’re explicitly taught not to be affected by that. They also made a point of mentioning that Orsted had mastered every sword fighting style, which is why they called masters from the other styles to train Eris. She’s good at sword fighting and the overall strongest fighter out of the students but definitely not the best in terms of sword skills alone. That’s why the master had her doing practice swings for years. Her ferocity was definitely an issue, but I don’t think it was the main lesson. When she fought Auber for the first time she once again lost her sword and started fist fighting. But the second time, she learned Blade of Light and beat him. She was equally ferocious both times. I don’t know if the overall lesson is as simple as brawling vs sword fighting, but I think the point is that her sword skills definitely need more exposure to different styles and thorough training without using her hand-to-hand skills as a crutch.

Oh yeah no she for sure needed the extra experience against other styles. I was moreso just pointing out the rationale behind their first encounter specifically. Her need to learn more regarding other styles doesn’t really become an issue until after the first day. Beyond that though, the story actually acknowledges her willingness to use hand to hand combat as a good thing rather than a crutch. I can’t remember if that was an issue back when they were adventuring with Rujerd (been a little minute) but from this point onward it’s not treated that way. Instead Gal and the others are basically teaching her (beyond exposing her to sword skills themselves) that it’s not enough to just be ferocious, although they fierceness is an asset. So less the brawling and her willingness to go hand to hand being an issue, and more her mindset in battle and being able to control her bloodlust/hostility. Yes she

Bruh I'm a fucking alzheimer's researcher. Trust me, this hypothetical is more complicated than a 40 year old soul in a child's body. Memories and experiential chronology is important. If a 10 year old child goes into a coma, experiences another 10 years of life over the course of a few days unconscious, is it 20 years old when it wakes up? If someone loses all of their memories at 80, are they mentally an adult? These things are a lot more complicated than you think. Do you remember what you ate yesterday? What about a week ago? A year? It easier to remember the newest and/or most meaningful experiences. The older ones exist and become foundational, but the newer ones build on - or in some cases overwrite them / cause recontextualization.

Not really, the other sword saint gave nina a wooden blade with an iron core because they all legitimately wanted nina to kill eris, nina included for what they thought was disrespecting the sword god and for surprise attacking gino. The point was to show that the sword saints were too soft compared to eris - gino wasn't ready to fight as soon as he got the sword, nina thought destroying the opponent's blade was enough for a sure victory, the sword saints in general thought too highly of the title of "sword saint" and thought eris was being disrespectful to the sword god gal despite neither gal nor the 2 guys beside him and ghislaine thinking so as well as even using an iron core wooden sword when eris had a normal wooden one. It shows that Eris isn't soft as she is willing to do anything she can to win and doesn't give up simply coz her sword broke.

I think it would be normal for a dojo to have wooden practice swords with metal cores so the swordsmen can train with the weight of a real sword. It's just a normal practice sword that's been hollowed out and a metal rod inserted into it, not an actual blade.
