I'm waiting to see what they do with it because it's less "memory loss" and more someone else deliberately tampering with her memories. Also apparently, they are doing this for a reason. So, I'm going to let them cook even though amnesia always makes me apprehensive.

I heavily doubt they are inhibiting her memory, oxygen deprevation is an incredibly serious thing. For her to be out of oxygen for 2m 30s she's lucky to be alive, let alone without major long lasting disabilities. Only having severe memory loss is a MIRACLE

Eh. I don't care for amnesia arcs either, but this isn't random. We've known that they had memory drugs since the first season. They reiterated during the second season that memory drugs exist too, and they were already feeding them to the general Silo population. I just hope that they are using this to serve the larger narrative and not just to pad the mystery.

The A.I. has to insure that no one from this silo ever attempts to make contact with any of the other silos. Since Juliet knows about the other silos, they are suppressing her memories to prevent her from revealing the truth, otherwise there would be loads of people trying to leave and make contact. If Camille fails to suppress Juliet, the A.I. will literally terminate the entire silo in order to preserve the integrity of the other silos.

Teenie book Spoiler (since you read the books) . . . . . . . I only just started book 2, so maybe more gets mentioned later but I feel like this is taking place a little before the events in book 2. The cloud might have something to do with both the nanotech stuff Senator Thurman was using to prolong aging and warned Keene about how it could be misused in the war, as well as the sisters accident that Keene mentions in passing when asked why he won’t send her to see a psych. It feels like new territory so far, since his sister had already gone through an accident at the beginning of the book but the expansion of the lore is cool.

Episode2 is already out but I want to just put this here because it explains everything. Sooo there was creative differences behind the scenes between the show runner and Apple TV. The show runner wanted to follow the books where this season would have been fully in the past as that what happens in the books but Apple TV said absolutely not because that would mean a full protagonist change. Since in the books we don't go back to the silo until the 3rd and final book which would be the next season they had to fill this season somehow and we got the amnesia plotline. So basically this season is half filler and half backstory of the silos

Nah they're doing it because the AI will kill everyone in the Silo with poison gas if the people find out there are other Silos, that's "The Safeguard" they keep talking about. So Sims and Camille are doing everything they think is necessary to prevent Juliette from regaining her memories and revealing the fact that there are other silos. They obviously don't know that Juliette already knows about The Safeguard protocol and most likely will not just casually reveal that information to the whole Silo, so they're working under the assumption that she will reveal it if she regains her memories.

It only works if you either start a main character off with memory loss at the beginning of a show/movie, or introduce a new character with memory loss. When you give the main character memory loss three seasons in, it's just annoying and time wasting for the audience when we know everything they've forgotten. So boring and lazy in terms of writing.

Also when did they write this Iran plot line? If this was based on a book written years ago no way that military operation plot line should be so closely dog whistling actual world events so closely.
