There is a lot in this episode that benefits from seeing the original series. More so specific episodes about gambit and his guild. Also Gambit always talks a lot in 3rd person. The only hint of apocalypse was the flash of him that sheera mentioned Apocalypse can transfer bodies.

Xavier is known as the strongest mind, but he’s not actually Omega level. He’s just the most SKILLED which allows him to stand toe to toe with powerful minds. Jean is an Omega level telepath so she can brute force her thoughts to get the same effect as Charles. Not to say that she’s not skilled, but she doesn’t need to be due to the sheer power of her telepathy. (He recently became omega level in comics recently due to a boost he got from being resurrected.) Apocalypse is also a powerful telepath (one of his powers from the Celestials, his natural power is Super strength and personal genetic and mass manipulation)

the creators said in season one val is just val and not mystique. they got new writers so this can change but i dont see the reason why. val is a real character in the comics who ran x-factor and has a frenemey relationship with mystique. dont need to combine when they are distinct separate entities

I really wish they fleshed out the X-Ternal more than a 5 second flashback and an immediate kill. They showed her when they were in Egypt and she was in an episode in the OG series she should have been flashed out more

we comic readers cant help you since 1. none of this happened in the comics 2. they didnt show us the fight of apocalypse vs gambit. did he transfer his conciousness into gambit? or did gambit kill him and apocalypse's essence went to the nearest body? (happened in season five of x-men tas. apocalypse was dead physically but his spirit was still floating around in the ether while his acolytes searched for a body powerful enough to contain him). until the show tells us, we will never know. the closest to a comic storyline this is would be "the search for cyclops", a mini series following "the 12" storyarc. cyclops jumped in the way of apocalypse merging with x-man (nate grey aka young cable from AOA universe) and got possessed by apocalypse. he was able to keep apocalypse at bay for a few months minus some slips here and there. jean and cable went to find him (hence the search for cyclops title) and through the power of all three, they were able to "kill" apocalypse and get him out of cyclops' body. this is one of the many stories that have me confused when people think an apocalypse empowered aka celestial bka omega level gambit couldnt be him on his own or you would need a full team to defeat him. nah, you just need the right ones with the right powers. storm, jean, and jamie barddock could take him down no problem.

there is nods and references and there is straight up plagarism. that mind fight was just a retread of the mind fight xavier had with dark phoenix, just replaced dark phoenix with apocalypse and jean with gambit. he even used the same verbiage, attacks, and astral armor. the morph episode, when wolverine said "this isnt our first alien invasion"? thats a nod. this is just some lazy ass writing. "corrupted by cosmic being the xmen must fight a loved one but not wanting to kill them, professor x tries to surpress the dark entity" now am i talking about jean or gambit.....................

professor x is an omega level telepath and as much as you think he is losing, he 1. knocked remy out 2. kept him busy and injured him enough for apocalypse to show and for rogue to come save the day. but also, the show nerfs and reups their powers as is needed for the scene/episode. mad annoying. let op mutants be op. its ok. just means you have to bring on the heat with the villains. not that deep

As a comic book fan, I’ve enjoyed this season but I do think that this season has felt rushed when it comes to the various plot lines that they have gone through. For instance, what Wolverine went through in terms of dealing with his bone claws which are his original mutation I feel like they resolved that way too quickly with him getting his adamantium back. In the comics, Wolverine while he was dealing with his bone claws became more feral as a result and I believe he had to leave the team until he got his shit worked out because he became a danger to others. I feel like we’ve somewhat sidetracked a bit too much from the main Apocalypse plot and I hope the finale doesn’t feel rushed or try to resolve Apocalypse in 30 minutes. I don’t know if this is it in terms of Horseman Gambit but if it is then that’s another thing that I feel like was resolved too soon. Again these are just my thoughts. Still having fun with the show but season one in my opinion was better in terms of consistency

Tarot card for The Tower has dual meaning, where 1) It represents the collapse of any structure that was built on unstable ground, a relationship, a job, a belief, or an identity. 2) it reveals what’s already unstable. It clears false structures, so something real can be built. So thinking of the show it could mean the “family” dynamic they have tried to create from the Professors perspective is not truly stable due to being on an uneven base, where the foundation of their relationships is going to be drastically changed.

tbf, no one in the show has really gotten a clean dub yet. most victories have come through teamwork. more often than not, professor X gets overwhelmed because he's fighting opponents who are far stronger than the ones the rest of the team usually faces. I do wish professor X get his own dub tho

I think it could be a mix of factors. The pacing has been lightning fast since Ep 1 of S1. They did all of Inferno in 1 episode. They're doing this interesting blend where there are still ongoing arcs, but each episode is also a complete story in an episodic way like how older cartoons used to be. S1 was more of an overall story that hooked people into the series, and now that it's been renewed up until S4, I think they're using the time to flesh out all the characters, plotlines, and revitalize this universe's cast. I don't think much of it is due to Beau DeMayo being fired. When he left, all the scripts and storyboards were already done for S2. S3 will be the real test to see the difference in quality his uninvolvement brings.

Emma is in a similar league as Charles. When they first battled she won, but every other clash Xavier has won but he acknowledges her being in his league. Psylocke is another one but her powers wax and wane a lot more than the others based on whether it’s the British Psylocke, or Japanese Psylocke.
