Yeah was actually surprised to learn, a couple years back, how extremely drugged up the German troops were during the war. Apparently the Blitzkrieg thing applied to the soldiers too. Either they REALLY imagined the war would be wrapped up quick or they really didn't account for the long term side effects.

Rudersdorf in this anime = Erich Ludendorff from Imperial Germany during WWI. He first coined the term "total war". A total war is basically a gamble on the country's future. And that's exactly what he's done here. He was a militaristic genius, but a terrible diplomat/politician. He won many battles for his country, however, in the end it was his ambition that ruined the Reich. [edit] Also he was a coward who resigned before the end of the war in order to put all the blame on the Parliament. I'm curious to see how Tanya's involvement in this universe will affect him.

It is INCREDIBLY anathema to engage in combat while disguised as enemy forces, for the same reason it's illegal for soldiers to pretend to be civillians. If forces can't differentiate who they're supposed to be fighting, much more unnecessary death ensues than normal for war.
