Day 40 of asking yall to react to berserk 1997

Chixy Off

I JUST FINISHED THE 2 EP, LETS GOOOO

PAM

21:30: I witnessed a thoracotomy in real life. It was not a good night.

NiToTheNah

Forgot Mika Abdalla was in this lmao, two Off Campus actors including the nurse

Atlas Creation

Imagine like 8 or more hours of this work environment everyday. Holy.

Raven Tugwell

Im a nursing student in my last semester (yayyy) and I got to say that patient interaction can vary from “omg you’re so nice!” To “ get tf away from me or I’ll drop kick you” and you always just smile and wave lol. I also LOVE fast pace environments but if ever work in the ED I’d only do the 8hr

Fred

My new favorite reaction ngl I love this show

Spike147

Let’s go!!! I love y’all’s reactions to this, one of my favs

Bria A.

The only things I have ever really heard medical professionals criticize about this show (on the technical aspect of things) are the depth of chest compressions (which are obviously going to have to take some compromising to avoid literally breaking an actor's ribs lmao) and the handling of a specific case. Which is honestly kinda impressive.

KenyBeans

Every time I watch this I have to sit with the idea of how I would handle it if my child passed from overdose and I see their friends alive and joking. I fear I would have reacted the same way as the dad. But as a person that had to watch my mom during hospice, knowing we are at the end and being at end are two different emotions. If I could pay yall $200 just to binge this I would. Great reaction

Cool The Wrathful

Ngl if I was working in an environment like this, you’d see me laughing hysterically in a bathroom by hour 5. Doctors, nurses, and every medical professional in between are heroes fr

Anthony Dias

I LIVE for the Pitt reactions

Loadedfrenchfry

The happy music as the credits roll 😂

A. P.

f*ckin' haaaands please! 😂

Bria A.

I actually want to push back a little on something Sheera said this ep: the thing about Samira Mohan is that she's *not* worried about statistics. She still very much sees patients as whole people with stories that need to be listened to and addressed, while some doctors have started seeing them yes as people, but moreso in terms of turnover and numbers. Which does not make her the most "efficient" doctor, sure, but it does in my opinion make her one of the best. She is the doctor I would personally want watching over me. (Also, for the vet thing, Abbot works night shift; he's just not here right now, so that's why he left the letter for her and Robby. Without spoilers, they mentioned in the first episode that he also has a teen patient eventually coming in for the day shift doctors to take care of.)

KittensandMotorcycles

Quick clarification re Abbot - Abbot actually works the night shift, so he was clocking out when Robby found him on the roof. They essentially hand off on shifts - Robby is the daytime attending, Abbot is the night shift. So he is home hopefully getting some well deserved sleep!

Diggs

We all love Mel over here

Kreed

Facts, been waiting for this one show all day. Was like torture

LaTesha

As a counselor myself we have to find another counselor to support our mental health as well😭. It's an endless cycle of counselors needing counselors. It's a rewarding job with many stressful situations. There are some joys but it can be draining. Can lead to burn out pretty quick if you do it wrong.

LaTesha

Fun fact the actor that plays Dr. Robby (Noah wyle) was also in the successful medical drama ER

girlygirl9983

DR. ROBBY needs to alert the police and that medic that got hit by ambulance needs to get checked out LOL that ambulance bump was hard and they were too calm about it

LaTesha

After season 2 I need to see more of my night shift crew and more of the ppl from Ortho and upstairs if we can. I'm liking the nightshift they need to overlap more before shift change for next season. The only way to do that is like an awful accident with all hands on deck probably 😭

Eric

I'm CERT trained, and man watching Whitaker do chest compressions is painful. It's like he's giving him a massage 😂

Mervyn Larrier

Just to clarify, it was a Xanax dusted with Fent. Which is essentially the same as just taking Fent since Fent is dosed in micrograms (one milionth of a gram) instead of milligrams (one thousandth of a gram).

Jamilla Abdullah

On my first watch, I hated her. But on re-watches, she is one of my favorites. She's rough around the edges, but endearing in her own way. She has given hints that she's gone through a lot because of her use of sarcasm as a shield.

Jamilla Abdullah

Sheera and Roshi, y'all are starting to learn that Dr. Robby has some biases about him when it comes to people. Pay attention to how he treats Whitaker versus Mohan (aka Slo-Mo) or McKay who tried to convince him to report that kid for his list.

NightRunnerrr

oh yeah yall cooking with the uploads

alexis

chop chop i need more rn

I'Zanay Rogers

After watching this episode I immediately guessed what the most popular ship is in this show and I was fucking right!! Loll it's Robby x Whitaker!

Fano

Dr. McKay is chucky’s daughter

Bria A.

To this day I do not understand it and do not partake, but all the more power to the Hucklerobby people lmao

Bria A.

Unfortunately they gotta be lame unless they wanna shell out for prosthetics for every patient that needs a CPR scene (which is basically all of them) 😭

I'Zanay Rogers

Loll I get that, like it's a cute idea and fantasy, but I don't know. I need to see more of everyone's dynamics and stuff first.

KittensandMotorcycles

She's grown on me too, but I don't blame anyone that hates Santos haha, she is objectively a dick, a bully, and a pick-me for most of S1. Which is what makes it so funny that Roshi immediately liked her 💀

Jamaal Ellison

Ah and so it begins getting annoyed with Santos.

SecondChances96

Seems like you guys haven't quite picked it up but I'm like 99% sure Mel is supposed to be high functioning ASD (autistic). As someone who was diagnosed very late (28) and went through life being labelled shy/awkward instead of autistic with ADHD it's a way more grounded portrayal and far more relatable than the stereotypical stuff like Attorney Woo or Good Doctor (which I have nothing against, personally). I don't wanna stand on a soapbox too much about it, just wanted to spread a little awareness that there's a lot of autistic people that don't present as "super blunt/socially clueless savant".

Eric

Yea, you don’t gotta crunch him, but at least get that proper form lol. Get on top of a stool, lock out those elbows and get to 90 degrees!

Gilthwixt

You're so real for this. I love Mel's portrayal because it helped me come to terms with my own diagnosis in my 30s. Not enough people outside of certain circles are aware just how damaged your childhood can be when you are *clearly* different from other kids but don't get the help you need because you do well in school so there isn't a problem. The Gifted Program to AuDHD burnout pipeline is real.

Gilthwixt

Not only that, but Noah Wyle really wanted this series to be a direct continuation of ER with him playing the same character just 25 years older. They couldn't negotiate rights with the owners (Michael Crichton's estate, of Jurassic Park fame) so they said fuck it we'll do it ourselves as a new IP.

LaTesha

And it's amazing without it being a direct continuation. Nothing was lost with production.

GorpPenguinz

Lmfoa i loved seeing Dr Mike on youtube lose his absolute shit over the CPR

AmityBloaf

damn thought sheera would fuck with Santos.. Santos remind me of Tasha in they travel VLOGS

Youssef Loubnan

IF YOUTHINK THESE FIRST EPISODES ARE STRESSFULL, YOU JUST WAIT FOR THE LAST 5. JUST QUIT MAN,

Willy Wonka

Do doctors really do open heart surgery with their hair out and no mask when its that dire? Or is that just the show wanting us to see the actors 😅

Fuji

the pure stress on roshis face when a new patient comes in is killing me, this show is great lol

xLithion

I love that Robbie has no time to pee and is constantly racing around but still takes time to comfort people like the sister of the dead guy and spend however much time is needed to make sure people are feeling ok mentally

Carlos

College kids lucky Mr. Bradley didn't calibrate their asses, Vakarian style.

Danielle

I’m sorry but I’m getting annoyed with Robby clearly having a soft spot for that incel kid and just boys in general. How disrespectful he is when interacting with Mohan

Lurkingposter

C'mon that's not fair. Whitaker is a first day student doctor. Mohan is an R3. It makes sense that he is tougher on her. Especially if this is a recurring pattern.

Lurkingposter

You want them to break the actor's ribs? Lol.

Gib

I was similarly the captain of the Santos hate train, and tbh was on it far into the first season. Definitely a credit to the writers and Isa that I fully turned around on her.

Gib

I will also say that my impression is that most ERs do not get quite the breadth and rarity of the cases the Pitt shows, which makes sense since it's TV.

Lurkingposter

Nah, you need wildcard like Santos to keep things interesting.

Devin reid

Intubation is not a chest tube intubation is a tube down to the throat with sedation to help the individual breathe

Khayta (Hi-tuh)

Roshi aint ready for the rest of the season...

Khayta (Hi-tuh)

Roshi clocking out but we still have 12 hours left...

Devin reid

Mel is neurodivergent if you couldn’t tell lol

MyDude SnakePlisskin

Noah Wyle was such a perfect choice for Dr. Robby. He's a damn treasure. The Librarian, Falling Skies; he's a gem. I'm really glad to see him playing a role like this where his range really gets to shine.

Tre

Dr. Shaun Murphy wouldnt have let that happen

maurizio piras

santos is the worst character almost unwatchable

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

imo he wasnt that disrespectful with mohan - its somewhat tough love cuz shes been there longer, but he specifically says he knows shes good at what she does but is also capable of more. how he is with the whole david situation is rly irritating to me tho 😮‍💨

KittensandMotorcycles

To be extremely clear, Isa Briones is a fucking icon and I love her, and totally agree that it's a testament to her charisma and acting ability that I've turned around at all on santos as a character haha

PJ Rivera

I can’t believe they managed to get a wire-like show to work in the modern day. Everything in 1 day

Delinda Arts

Mo can talk my head off all she want, fuck robbie 😂

Saki 🏴‍☠️✨❤️‍🔥

maybe im just used to characters like santos in med dramas, but i rly didnt realize just how many ppl truly dont like her at all 😭 some of her comments r a bit far (like the whole 'dont kill anyone else' thing this ep) and i dont exactly love everything she says and does, but overall i enjoy her!

voca

the parallels between dr mohan and dr robby are starting to show

jospagbol

and I’m eating it up 😜

Mika

Tbh i can actually kinda see it in season 2. The whole apartment thing and they have some eyebrow raising interactions lol

A

Moral of this series is "Life goes on". That message will be driven in more with each ep. But yeah ...life goes on. The worst day of a person's life is a bump in the road to ultimately saving more lives. And I do appreciate the focus on the social workers here. Like usually they'll pop up in TV shows mainly for kids and whatnot but here we see that their normal cases are also rough. Aaaaand yeah. The custodians have to clean up everything too. Like when there's a death, they're there too.

Bria A.

I mean I've watched a handful of those irl medical ER docudrama shows (dramatized with actors though, obviously) on like TLC and Discovery Health and whatnot, and... they do tend to get some insane cases. Although yes, I also acknowledge them cherry picking the most notable ones for entertainment value.

Jamilla Abdullah

I don't disagree with you when it comes to Mohan being at a higher level than Whitaker. That's not my point. The point is, he cuts his male peers slack compared to his female peers. He had zero reason to blow off what McKay said about reporting that kid. He was projecting his feelings and wasn't the list bit worried about the girls on that list. All in the name of some kid's "reputation." It's quite apparent that he has some bias towards women due to his past.

AJ Shihouin

Let’s count to see how many times Roshi says “it’s time to go home” 😂

Wes

Fun fact: Some of the nurses on the show are actual RNs in real life, I had a conversation with one of them and she mentioned that quite a few of them are nurses on cast and there are actual real life doctors on set which lends to the authenticity of the show

Shaquille_Oatmeal

Love Mel so far....And for some reason i don't really hate Santos. I find her funny too.

Brynn Ashcroft

steveioe reaction got me giggling to. Roshi got me watching all the other reacters reactions meow.

I'Zanay Rogers

Ohhh?? Really? I can't wait to see that!! I just started watching this show with them lol

Hybrid10Prime

I used to work in a hospital in their Environmental Services (EVS) department (we handled moving waste [ALL types], linen and did the bulk of cleaning). They had an automated scrub machine somewhat like the one in this episode, I've emptied and filled it out many times before. I don't know how the credit system works, but I know it scans the scrubs deposited by staff and can grab and dispense the ones loaded into. Cool stuff, a tad bit noisy though - the again I have sensitive ears (✿^‿^)

Hybrid10Prime

It's for the show, they'd put on full PPE (including hair coverage) IRL

Alejandro Rodriguez

But I mean that also kinda Robbie's main point, she's a great doctor but you're only getting that if you ARE her patient so all the people who aren't her patient yet cuz she's taking longer are more at risk, its not a great fit for an ER without more balance but like private practice or maybe a diff specialty instead.

Big I

I'd gladly pay damn good money for y'all to just binge this show. It is SO GOOD. Although, as others have mentioned, this show is HEAVY. It touches on a lot of things, from death, to life, to the corruption and misuse of the medical systems set in place. There's a lot of fun moments, a lot of stress, and it can be pretty GRUESOME too, as y'all have experienced the surgeries and broken bones and whatnot. I'm looking forwards to more of these episodes!

dthorizon

I never watch stuff like this but I'm on the verge of binging this series lol but imma wait

sandoesntexist

i’m a bit partial to kingdon (mel x langdon) myself 🥱

Teacupcats

They rarely pick up on autistic characters lol but she’s very obviously autistic to me especially after her reaction to that mom saying what if her kid ended up autistic

Brobi-Wan Kenobi

I'm watching the show along with Roshi and Sheera for the first time so I guess we'll see but I would not have guessed that at all.

Brobi-Wan Kenobi

It's not completely surprising to me. Roshi tends to appreciate characters who are upfront about who they are. He can respect the honesty at least.

Angel Colon

Bruh..quite a few nepo babies in this show and honestly Im loving it. Dr. Cassie McKay is played by the daughter of the infamous CHUCKY 🩸🩸🩸🔪

faeries

Who is the second? I’m sorry I only recognize Mika

L.A. Kalman

Nah, they get a lot of random stuff wrong, but if you aren't trauma or ER trained you aren't going to pick up on it. Dr. Mike or whoever reacting isn't going to notice. The OD case last episode in particular was egregious to me. There is a lot about their assessments, testing, etc that was very weird and there is a major continuity error regarding the patient's pupils. Also off to say that you're a ways off from calling organ donation for him, when the initial GCS of 3 is enough indication. In this episode, there's also the old intubated man with his restraints tied to the moving siderails. There's plenty to nitpick, but 99.9% of the audience won't notice--including even ER healthcare workers, because the reality of the job is stabilization and shipping out, not in-depth neuro assessments and the like.

Kris Barnes

“He be getting me through the episode” literally like if Dr Robby weren’t so chill I don’t think I could watch this
