BL

Lmao can’t believe you’re doing this show

Chris B

Let’s goooo 🫰

J Man

WeedSMR

Robert Smith

Ngl, I don't think the newlywed is dying. I think it was a misdirect. Now, if you ask me who is dying? I don't know but maybe Olivia kills her friend cause she's definitely gay and her friend is absolutely not. She's just using her for the free trips. (if I'm right, don't tell me man. I'm loving this show, I don't want it to be spoiled! If my prediction is clown shoes just ignore me lol.)

J Man

WeedSMR

Danny

I'm most hyped for these reactions. White lotus was such a unique experience for me during COVID. this show, especially this season has such a special place in my heart.

Nick Vaughn

Man I got this one massage in New York a few years ago and it was so uncomfortable. That Asian woman was legit whooping my ass like I was pizza dough. I woke up sore as fuck the next day

ultraviolet

idk nicole and olivia seem VERY alike to me. the minute nicole figured out who rachel really was and she switched up and got snotty just bc she didn’t like what she wrote even tho rachel was being kind. the way she talks down to her husband and olivia too (i get it with olivia bc she is an asshole) but they do treat each other the same. nicole raised olivia we’re not gonna act like she didn’t get it from SOMEWHERE

ultraviolet

quinn does NOT have a disability sheera WHAT???💀💀💀niggas can’t be quiet, shy and weird?

Malik

yo pack everybody on that island up! I'm sick of all these muthafuckas. Belinda run!

blvckriot

he could be on the spectrum it’s not way off to assume

Sam

This is such an interesting thing. I'm currently watching another reactor who's in the service industry and he thinks Shane IS being an Ahole.

ultraviolet

sure but they never alluded to that on or off screen

Jesse Diener

I was not expecting so much Shane defense, but it is interesting to see. I do appreciate that you guys don't fuck around with your opinions tho

YaBoyRoshi

Thats insane because budddy gaslit him and said he wasnt being charged and he was. That warrants turning up even though I think hes relatively reasonable in trying to get it resolved lol. I think to some degree people have an immediate hatred toward “rich people” doing normal things for whatever reason. When my uber eats comes and im charged for food I didn’t get I dispute it 🤷🏽‍♂️

LeFlaneur

I think the manager is lying about the room situation because he knows the husband is an asshole.

Manny

The sister has made jokes about him “stimming” which is something many people on the spectrum do to self soothe or regulate stress. Granted neurotypical people also stim, but it’s probably part of the reason Sheera made that assumption.

Robbie

Sheera’s face of disbelief throughout this episode is killin me 😭

Mangomoon

her sister also an a hole saying hes gooning when hes not so idkk

Z.A.C.H

Roshi you’re absolutely right when you said Armand’s created an issue for himself by not apologising sooner and offering credit, when the situation was brought to his attention. That’s his job, as manager of the resort. It shouldn’t be a class issue when it comes to getting what you exchange your money for. That’s the basis of exchanging money for services/goods. Personally, I think what the series is trying to convey in this tension, is that the newlywed husband is very entitled and Armand isn’t supposed to win or even get a one up on him. You can see how he views money, and the little hints of “I’ll have my mom call.” Like even if Armand did own up to the situation and took the blame, I feel as though there was a possibility that the husband still wouldn’t have been satisfied because, he’s entitled. By the pool scene, you see how quickly he makes it personal, after talking to the Germans, “I think he doesn’t want to /me/ to have the room” - meanwhile, it’s just a 9-5 worker trying to cover his ass for the mistake him made, and keep his job. Albeit, Armand was getting a little short/stressed with his guest.

Z.A.C.H

But the heart of this show, is how Sheera described it. You can see the arguments of everyone. The writer does a good job at showing how human situations are not black and white, but grey!

J Man

As a hotel manager myself (and as I said before, I used to manage a Fairmont), all this stuff pretty much happens on the regular (notably with "entitled" resort guests. Celebrities tend to be easy). Armund kinda handled the whole booking mistake wrong. He was right in offering a possible alternative, but as Roshi and Sheera mentioned, there should have also have been a Food & Beverage and Spa credit in there (which costs the hotel essentially nothing and handles "guest recovery")

J Man

Ladies like the crazy ash lady actually exist a lot in real life. They be talking to a staff member of mine for hours sometimes (like some weird borderline parasocial thing). To the point where I have to start shooing them away.

Mike A

Roshi siding with Shane over Armond and Olivia over Paula. My guy forgot what it's like to be in the mud with the rest of us common folk. smh

Bria A.

i think the immediate jump to defending someone not having a disability isn't really necessary, especially when the way quinn's family treats him (not just his sister being an asshole, but she could be an asshole to him entirely separate from his disability as "normal" behavior / not "giving him special treatment" or whatever) does decently imply that he could be on the spectrum lmao

Lily Rose

racist for mentioning race so unnecessarily

Mxri

I fucking love Jenn.

Nick Vaughn

How is it racist when I’m just saying what happened to me? I didn’t even say anything derogatory so you can chill

Lauren B.

I commented on the last episode that he was on the spectrum based on me personally being on the spectrum and based on the sister's weird "stimming/hand flapping" jokes. Also the comment by Roshi about about him being "weird" in the conversation with his dad. I do think it is implied that he's on the spectrum. But I can also understand people not liking the word "disability" being applied to autism. I personally fully embrace both words (autism and disability), but I understand everyone's comfort with those terms is different

Lauren B.

And I also agree with you that all those things don't necessarily mean he is on the spectrum.

Solemnity

Why didn't the dude on the phone just tell him he didn't know how his dad got AIDS bro lmao

Juan G.

I had heard about this show and how good it was for years but didn't think it was for me 🤦‍♂️. Now I'm about to go binge the whole series 😁.

Garrett skinner

This show so gas one of my favorite shows of the last couple years

Mxri

That bomb drop about the dad GAGGED me. Not the twist I expected.

Chan

Shane is in the right for the room thing, even though he comes off as entitled. I feel bad because Rachel kinda bothers me and maybe I need to unpack that lol but it's almost like she sees herself as a helpless lamb that got trapped in this relationship when in reality she has had control over her decisions. She chose to marry Shane knowing full well what the dynamic would be. I completely understand wanting financial autonomy to protect yourself but I feel like that should've been discussed before marriage--and I find it hard to believe not accepting that piece would've set her career back significantly, even if she didn't tell them that she was on her honeymoon. But I could be completely off base.

Futuristic Girl

I get both sides. Being upset about a room mix up is normal. I think what rubs people the wrong way is how he acts like it's going to ruin his trip when he's still in such a luxurious suite. If they were scrapping pennies to get that room then I don't think people would view him that way, but his family is extremely wealthy so the obsessing over it can come off as irritating to people who don't come from that kind of background. The real mistake he made was when he dismissed his wife wanting to build up her career. That's more so where he's kind of an asshole. As for Armand he definitely did mess up. Likely due to stress. His annoyance has less to do with Shane specifically and more to do with his resentment towards his job.

Futuristic Girl

The point about Armand's resentment of rich people is spot on.

Futuristic Girl

Armand and Belinda are meant to reflect a general perspective on how service workers view the wealthy.

Futuristic Girl

I get what you're saying but olivia is a lot more snotty and she's intentionally trying to be rude and standoffish whereas nicole was genuinely offended she was direct but she wasn't rude

Joni

@Futuristic Girl I disagree about how he shouldn't complain cuz he's rich. Just bcuz he's born rich, didn't work his ass off to earn the money, n already got a luxurious suite doesn't mean that he can't complain he didn't get the room he wanted. So if u r rich u should just ignore their mistake n be chill about it? He has all the rights to be complaining about this issue. I do agree that his way of talking n treating his wife is bad though.

Futuristic Girl

That's interesting. I see a lot of viewers who feel that way about Rachel. I'm curious on whether this will change once we get to this season's finale.

Joni

Shane's treatment on his wife is wrong n annoying but i can't believe people r mad he's complaining about his suite. Yes he's rich n its his mom's money n he already got the 2nd best suite but that doesn't mean that he can't complain he didn't get the suite they booked? So if u r filthy rich u can't complain u didn't get the appropriate service? Not to mention the host keeps lying to him that's very unprofessional if u r tired of ur work n annoyed u should just take a break.

rickie woodson

of course he wouldnt take the side of the customer lol super bias, totes obvs

iibreezy2x

Bro so much was happening in these 1st two episodes that I forgot the wife died

rickie woodson

its totally possible she doesnt know what weed smells like. thats not everyone's life. i didnt know what it smelt like til someone told me at work. this dude walked in and smelt like hot garbage to me but to my coworker it was fine "ha, its just weed bro. dont you know what weed smell like" of course not. i go to libraries not drug filled clubs. but i know what STANK semlls like and thats HIM. yuck. mom just smelt smoke just like i just smelt funk

rickie woodson

its not just a ladies think. some of us are emotionally vulnerable, available, and open. the curse of being ready to love

Robert Smith

Selective empathy pisses me off more than unempathetic people tbh. The dude isn't a good husband but he has every right to complain about being shafted out of a room he paid for. I don't understand how he should be okay with it because he's "rich". No one should accept being fucked over once they pass some arbitrary wealth line.

rickie woodson

kinda is. its normalize NOT diagnosing people. i dont even think he's weird or different. he's a teen boy addicted to his screens. totes normal especially in america. its not like we are seeing him in an enviornment where he has his friend group around. you got dismissive parents and dismissive sister so he has no one to really talk to so he has formed a bond with himself and thats his normal and will take a lot to break him away from that comfort zone.

rickie woodson

i had a totally different read. armond went "yeah, imma need these drugs later. into my personal desk NOT the lost and found cause i want these babies for myself once the stress gets too much to handle". it lays the ground work of someone dying from an over dose as well.

Rafael Pabon

Armand is an addict, although sober for 5 years. They're trying to present how the pressure of his job is messing with it when he has that temptation

Futuristic Girl

with the shane and armond situation I don't really side with either I think they're both fascinating characters and they're dynamic is fun to watch

mercury_black17

are u that sensitive? how u make this far in life and be this weak about someone mentioning race? and I'm Asian to btw and i don't think nick was being racist

Lauren B.

Those were my thoughts exactly. Like it's very rare for someone to turn out that mean and uncaring when they have 2 fully loving, sweet parents that they were raised by. Chances are she got it from her mother. And it's totally normal for women like that to be more explicitly vindictive when they are younger and to get better at hiding it when they age.

Lauren B.

"your dad actually died of a virus". I mean,...

Futuristic Girl

the way that's not what I said...I was talking about how he comes across because of his background and I said him not being happy about the room mix up was valid. for him particularly because he's used to getting everything he wants so when it doesn't happen he's bound to flip out. what made people not like him is the acting like it was just gonna ruin his whole honeymoon. that's a bit ridiculous. he was being a bit obsessive. especially when his wife was not stressing about it. and the whole point of this is them celebrating their union. not some room change. he can complain all he wants to regardless though he will still have more than enough. sometimes you have to zoom out and have some self awareness. like is this really going to make or break him? no. so just take the free perks and have a good time. and it may be the worst thing to him but these other people are not accustomed to this lifestyle so they can't possibly under him crashing out over being in one of the most high end rooms in the hotel. and that's understandable too. in their eyes, he has everything and he's worked up over something so Inconsequential. it's not about right or wrong. both are coming from real places.

bloo.raspbrry7

An addict with substances and he also has an addictive personality in the sense that he can’t really let things go. I think Armand is such an interesting character!

Futuristic Girl

being fucked over is a bit strong. in this case, shane is the one with the power to actually fuck over armond. we literally saw how he can use his connections. shane could not get into a room exactly when he wants. meanwhile armond could lose his livelihood. it's almost like that's what the storyline is about. the power and entitlement that comes once you reach a certain class. also not everything is about picking sides. it's much more nuanced than what you all are making it out to be. we can acknowledge mistakes on both parts. and he didn't pay for that. his mother did.

maui

im tryna see what that feels like lol

Derpin

5 years of sobriety and he has a bag with all the drugs. He stood no chance.

Futuristic Girl

I hope what people gather from this season and the shane and armond storyline is that no matter who does the right or wrong thing is that ultimately the people of higher class will always "win" and the service workers will always be more vulnerable and at risk because that is how the hierarchy is designed and no that's not an individual person's fault but that's the fact of the matter it is a constant power struggle

lordofcheeks

i think the aramond vs shane thing is just to give us a better understanding of why aramond cracks in the first place. Even if shane is in the right concerning the room Aramond is tired of dealing with guests like him(the rich entitled kind)

NSP

I think the only thing I would say for the Shane situation is that I wouldn't say he's entitled to the bigger room at all. He's entitled to being refunded, and he's also probably entitled to some complimentary services or extra compensation for the booking mistake, but he's not entitled to the room. But I feel like that Shane is not gonna be satisfied with that. Like the fact that he went out of his way to talk to the German couple to confirm that they're leaving 1 day earlier indicates to me that he cares more about getting into the bigger room even if it's just for 1 day than he cares about getting his money back.

Samsaknight X

Roshi it’s not that he complained, cuz that’s completely valid, it’s the way in which he complained that makes him unlikable. His wife keeps saying she doesn’t care about the room, but he keeps insisting it’s ruining their honeymoon. I think there’s a better way to go about it then acting like how he did

A Guy

I do have to say Rachel should just talk to her husband about it. The neurotic semi conflict that she’s setting herself up for already talking about a possibility of divorce is an incredibly dumb way to handle it. The same way the husband is cutting into the honeymoon by obsessing over the room situation, even if they are in the right. Man so far the only ones I like, are the son and father.

Kristen

I really hope Lupa jumps in when he's back, s2 and s3 have some crazy moments

LeFlaneur

I like Belinda (the massage therapists), she seems the most well adjusted. Don’t like the father, he has this whole midlife crisis and dumping a lot on his family. Son, I could see having the best arc of the season. The girls I like, just for the roasting and trolling, but they are terrible as people.

A Guy

I actually agree. Belinda has been pretty good too. God knows what kind of mess she’s going to get dragged into.

LeFlaneur

And what is funny, is as terrible a human being Shane actually is, he’s actually trying to be a decent person in his interactions with Armon. Shane could actually grow from this and be less of an a hole if Armon saw him as more than just a rich a hole.

Divinerights

But he did complain, but wants to keep on complaining. He needs to learn not every battle will be won

chris

Armond for some reason is taking responsibility for something he wasn't responsible for and avoiding responsibility for something he IS responsible for lol

Kreed

3:35 5:12 These girls are hilarious bruh 🤣🤣

Lauren B.

The only thing that makes me think it's *not* as simple as that is because the sister was actively making autism jokes about him in the first episode. Also, I personally would say instead of normalizing *not* diagnosing people, let's normalize it not mattering one way or the other. Like if I said someone was tall, it wouldn't turn into "let's normalize not labeling height". It could be both things - he's tall and let's normalize different heights. Like he can be autistic *and* a normal teenager engaging in normal teenage behavior. It doesn't have to turn into "no he's not". Like a lot of us are autistic *and* we were normal teenagers and I hate that people feel the need to defend that someone might not be autistic. Maybe he's autistic. Maybe he's not. Based on the information we have so far, it could go either way honestly.

Bria A.

people say "normalize not diagnosing people" all the time, and yes there's a time and place for such things...but also...normalize the mere concept of having a disability or disorder being fine? a neutral observation? automatically taking such things as an intentional insult is a large part of the reason why there's so much ableism and negative perception towards disabilities in the world. (and ngl it's annoying as hell when people have the mindset that's essentially just, "*my* child / this character i like / etc. could NEVER be disabled...oh, sorry about you though, good luck with that! :(" lmao)

DemonKing626

the duality of man for you lmao

Jo Jo

also someone on the spectrum he deff has similar mannerisms esp sleeping on the floor fr

Jamarion Rich

I can completely understand her wanting to work. But working during honeymoon is a no, if you do that, it kind of sets a standard about where your priorities will be in the future. And the thing is, she doesn't even need to do it, its a want. so she wants to do this thing instead of spending time with her husband. But to be fare she didn't take the deal, which does show her stance on the matter.

ultraviolet

she didn’t think bc of what olivia said she thinks that bc she thinks he weird

Kermit

Bro I'm on Roshi's side. Show and people chat straight up gaslighting calling the husband an asshole or a rich snob for just wanting what he booked. Manager and the wife are the weird ones here.

xLithion

Why did the super rich family not buy enough rooms for all the kids? Like we know u have money, just get adjoining suites or across the hall lol

Kris Barnes

Man this is reminding me how much I love White Lotus. Nothing makes me anxious like this show

Futuristic Girl

well he actually is a rich snob that's kind of his defining character trait and that's okay two things can be true

acosta

normist

Fred

One scene I didn’t like too much was with Nicole and Rachel that a seasoned journalist whose been doing this for years gets nervous when pressed about her work. She should be used to this at this point with peer reviews and other people who read it responding to her articles

Hybrid10Prime

I'm a nightly ASMR connosieur and I never thought of a weed varient. Interesting 🤔

Dyastro123

Well......"she's a bad journalist"

AbstractDread

To be clear dude talking about being his wife double her rate for her time definitely wasn't the right move but I don't think anybody would be happy about the wife working during their honeymoon.

AbstractDread

I have only watched up to this episode so far so I I can't talk about how he may be like in future episodes but so far I don't think he's done anything to warrant him being caught a terrible human being

AbstractDread

I agree with you that he probably shouldn't have to complaining about it to his wife after she expressed that she didn't care but I feel like people are completely disregarding how he feels about it, just because the woman doesn't care about something and their honeymoon doesn't mean that the man should be disregarded if he does, a wedding and honeymoon isn't only about the wife, people tend to forget that. Some people went celebrating even if it's expensive want the best of everything for the celebration, he might be one of those people and there's nothing wrong with that.

AbstractDread

I'm so glad I found your comment, so far you're the only person bring this up apart for myself, working while on your honeymoon should universally be seen as a bad thing to do, like if the dude was constantly picking up calls but work you know for sure people will get on his ass about that.

AbstractDread

Whether or not he's an asshole doesn't matter, if he paid for it he should be getting that room and if he isn't he should be reimbursed for the difference and at least be given a perk or two and not gaslighted

AbstractDread

I agree, one thing to the people haven't really factored in is that she should have known the type of guy this dude is and what he expects from his lady before marrying him, I mean he didn't even say that she needs to quit her job, he actually said she could do whatever she wanted to do, I just feel like doing that on your honeymoon is mad disrespectful.

AbstractDread

Anyone getting season 2 of Beef vibes so far?

Panashe

She wasn’t being snotty at all. This is why media literacy is important. It’s implied that something happened at Nicole’s business (I’m assuming a male CEO took advantage of a female employee). Nicole probably exposed the situation amid the #MeToo movement and subsequently elevated in the company. From Nicole’s perspective, regardless of whether she exposed the situation that occurred, she worked hard to be in her position. But I’m sure a lot of online trolls and red pill commentators argued that she only got there because she exposed a powerful man and the company (wanting to do damage control) put her in a position of power that many believe wasn’t rightfully earned. So I’m assuming Rachel’s article likely echoed some of those criticisms because she repurposed someone else’s work instead of actually writing something unique. And from Nicole’s perspective it’s like “not only did you subtle diss me, but you didn’t even use your own words to do it” so it feels like she’s being fake to her face

Spricey

I love it bc the surface issues are stupid and could be solved with actual help/effort like from parents for the one family, the newlywed couple actually listening to each other, and the massage person could just refocus her 'I want to help,' energy on the guy she literally works with who is sharing he might relapse. It's just wrong energy on wrong people. Son don't got social skills and ashes lady grieving (and need some boundaries or support or something), but they would both be good with some therapy (incoming addict that or back to 12 step program). The daughter and her friend are the weirdest dynamic by far imo, Weed ASMR is crazy I'm still not over that.

Teejay

You right

Phoenix Pienaar

Their character profiles feels off. Like they are trying to show that they are human and have conflicting emotions and behavior. It feels overwhelming and underwhelming.

vesra

I kinda feel for Armond - he's probably beating up on himself about the situation with Lani, feeling defensive about Shane and the room mistake. Five years of sobriety is a great achievement but with the environment and situation he's in, plus having a bag full of drugs at his disposal it's a recipe for relapse.
