naa

first! (lol)

naa

Armond is pissing everyone off, but the actor's doing an amazing job! The actor, Murray Bartlett won an emmy for this role

Sam

I feel like you could've excused Armond's behaviour before but this episode might have been where the line was crossed. Dillon was completely out of it when he was unbuttoning his shirt and that's on top of the power imbalance.

naa

Yeah no I’ve completely changed my mind lol

naa

Nvm I’ve changed my mind on Shane being the worst, Armond is the worst character.

Eduardo

i think quinn is meant to be like 15-16, the mom's comment was just weirdly written/spoken

Renni .

I didn’t even know this got posted

LeFlaneur

The father said he was the same age as Quinn when his dad died of AIDS, and that he was 15. That means Quinn is 15. Nicole said Olivia and Paula are sophomores, so they should be around 20.

Phonzi

I can’t unsee Tobey now

LeFlaneur

The writers show that Shane is not a good person, so people have the instinct to pick the side of the opposition; Armond. The thing Armond also is not a good person.

Aks 321

😂😂😂

ultraviolet

young straight white men are feeling alienated in the culture right now????? and we just move past that??😭

Śtórmí X

Aii I was with Armond cause f Shane but what the hell man 😭

Mrlanie

Everyone apart from the teenage boy sucks to some degree

LeFlaneur

Yeah, Quinn is probably the most innocent character. I think Kai and Belinda are fairly decent too.

LeFlaneur

I think that it’s either Shane’s mom or Armond who is going to die, and in a super ironic and comedic way.

Phonzi

Whole face buried in it 🤣

Śtórmí X

My guesses until the reveal was blue lives matter, bald lives matter, and boat lives matter 😭

rickie woodson

the kdrama super villain theory of "yes i shall make these rich people pay for my trip so i can meet you at hawaii" lol. obvious they were just eye flirting and they snuck away a few times but all that was off screen as to what they did when they snuck away. just wonder if her friend has a crush on her and its not just a "im rich and you belong to me" thing

blvckriot

It was meant to show her as racist 😭I understood it perfectly

Ernie

She's purposefully tone deaf and she's basically implying Dei has ruined for white men, while totally ignoring previous employment criteria where it solely benefit white men.

rickie woodson

oh no. i used to take that med. klonopin is for panic disorder. she should be freaking out by now with 2 days off her meds. someone is about to crash out!!!!

rickie woodson

i figure the girls are 24-25 cause they are working on post grad degress (the friend said she is writing her thesis)

Jon Greywind

These episodes is fun to watch with you guys, I noticed that episode 5 and 6 is on the collection is there a way to watch them

gw130782

If you buy the collection you will have access to all the episodes

andi

yeah Rachel is definitely struggling with being suddenly wealthy and having completely different viewpoints in life than them. it really is like she's trying to give them opportunities to say what she wants to hear just so she would feel better about this marriage. because the key is what she said last episode, that she only dated shane for a few months before getting married and that he pretty much "wore her down" to start dating in the first place. their relationship was definitely not built on the kind of comraderie, trust and shared values that years of dating as two independent adults would have, and that's why it's already cracking. (well that and shane not being able to get his way, which must be something he's not used to and that's why he just can't let go of it for the sake of enjoying their honeymoon.)

Ernie

Also i don't know if it was intentional but. Quinn dropping profound quote about animals dying in Australia's fire and immediately the girls focus on the hotell boy. Basically implies that their activism "end" when boys are in the picture.

Jamarion Rich

Some of these comments are ridiculous. Nothing Shane has done is anywhere close to what armond has been doing. So no, I was never on almonds side, Shane's first introduction with him, is him lying straight to his face.

Robbie

Totally know what you mean about Rachel. She keeps looking to everyone else to tell her what she lowkey already knows

Rafa

I can’t 🤣🤣🤣😭

Fuji

manager is irredeemable for me at this point

John sekiro

How do I get the next episodes🥲

Dontsop Keran

Ngl I seen a video on Hawaii and it’s still crazy till this day how slimy America is

slayydo

Literally his performance is what keeps me liking Armond lmao

Futuristic Girl

the thing is both characters are interesting and viewers can be entertained by both it shouldn't be about picking sides white lotus is not that kind of show

Tyrese Marshall

She's definitely more out of touch, maybe tone deaf given her standing, but racist, nah

Ekko08

IM GAGGEDDD! 🤣 I thought it would be the dad not Dillion. But Armand I was with you in the beginning but the downward spiral and the coercion of a subordinate has cemented him as the worst character. Everyone is trash to be honest, but Quinn. I'm loving this series though

Ekko08

My mind went from Bald Lives Matter to Blue Lives Matter 😭

revolves.round.AVA

if I hear one more person say "straight white males" are under attack, I'm gonna pass out😭. yes ik this is TV, but irl people are actually saying this bull. it was hilarious to hear her say that tho.

Kam

Am I the only one that loves Armond lol

Futuristic Girl

they obviously explain rachel's mindset on why she married Shane and is just now having these realizations but yall know that now

A. P.

Rachel isn't so much struggling to understand that they're rich she just doesn't believe that money is the most important thing the way that Shane and his mother does. That's the main reason Shane and her don't work -- two different value systems. She's consulting Shane about her career choice because that's her fucking husband and she wants validation from him, but Shane doesn't show actual care for anything she talks about because it's all beneath him in his mind and she can sense that. Rachel isn't wrong for how she feels, she's picking up on the little ways in which he's insensitive and aloof and just wants her to depend on his money and be a trad wife. I'm biased, I can't stand Shane because lack of empathy is a choice at his big age, but bottom line is that they shouldn't be married. Shane is a polite dick, Rachel is a bit of a kind coward.

LeFlaneur

What?? No. A lot undergraduate degrees (honors bachelor degrees and dual bachelor-masters degrees usually) require students to complete graduate level coursework and submit a thesis. In those types of programs, you typically start your research or project in your junior year or the summer of your senior year. Nicole said the girls are sophomores, and that’s why she was surprised that Paula was already working on her thesis. Anyway, the thesis was likely a lie to not have to admit that it was drugs that were in the bag and not a research notebook.

LeFlaneur

Most of the prescription drugs Paula brought are for recreational use. If she was really supposed to have them, her and Olivia would have asked Armond that one specifically or contact a pharmacist already.

Ginger Dwarf

Everyone is so fucking insane. This is hilarious.

LeFlaneur

Not getting any sapphic vibes from Olivia. It really looks like she just feels (unconsciously) entitled to everything Paula has. Olivia needs to see herself as very different from her family, and her relationship with Paula serves that. Paula, everything that she has and is, serves to prop up Olivia’s sense of superiority and uniqueness. Olivia is essentially a personality vulture.

mysterioussfox

like mom like son lol. money money money

Saylor

No she’s definitely racist, racism doesn’t have to be overt

LC

My dad was talking to me about this show a few months ago, and he was complaining about how there's a lot of attractive women on the show but no female nudity, but they have a scene of two guys eating ass. So I kind of knew what to expect when Belinda and Shane walked in the office. So uh, thanks dad. Maybe this is why I sympathize with Quinn so much 😅

Angel Colon

LMAO Sheera I thought the same exact thing @11:29, I thought the son was having a BI-wakening

Malik

Bro I legit have to take long breaks when I'm watching this cause of the second hand embarrassment I get from it lol

Fabien

The daughter and her "friend" Paula are so incredibly stupid and bigoted I swear I find them worse than the crazy hotel manager.

Laylay

😂😂😂

Sydney

With Rachel, it sounds to me like she's looking for reassurance that she'll be supported in doing her own thing despite marrying into a wealthy family. But because they don't seem to understand that perspective (”why do you want a job, you have money now"), she's worried that her sense of self is at risk and questioning if marrying Shane was the right decision for her

Frederick

Armond turned into Diddy 😂

Mea

I remember first watching this and also being confused by what age Quinn actually was too lol. It has a lot to do with his parents, especially his mom, infantilizing him. Not to mention at the same time leaving him to his own devices(pun not intended) most of the time. He is a kid but is at an age where he should be more independent but isn't'. And the things you guys discussed about Rachel I also agreed with. I didn't realize until rewatching this that she is really similar to Nicole because both refuse to acknowledge the privilege they have along with their husbands (although Shane happily flaunts his in comparison to Mark). Rachel acts as if she's being held against her will but she chose this life.

Joni

Lmfao people commenting that armond is NOW worse than shane. But in fact, armond has always been more trash than shane since episode 1 n roshi has been saying it as well.

Joni

How was armond's behavior excusable before? Bcuz he has to deal with rich people being a d***? He's the one who started lying to shane first. This is literally his job n he has been ruining his customers' experience by being a d***. If u can't handle it then take a break or quit ur job cuz this job is clearly not for u lol.

Alexis Sullivan

I think what Roshi seems to be getting at is that yes, Shane is insensitive and wants her to just depend on his money but Shane did not morph into that overnight. He has been that, so its weird that she seems to just now be figuring that out. Thats why Roshi was confused on how long they'd been dating cuz with the way she appears to be completely shocked out how money obsessed Shane and his mom are, its as if she just met them yesterday. If Sheera hadn't said that they'd been together for like 8mos I was prepared to think they had some whirlwind affair and married after just a week. But it was almost a year, so wtf was they doing for 8mos? Its like all they did was fuck all day everyday for 8mos cuz it does not appear as if they ever once had a single conversation about who they are as a person, what their values and goals are, what kinda life they want to have, etc. If she had had even one REAL conversation with him prior to marriage, she wouldve known how surface level he is. Its clear they fundamentally do not understand each other's character or values at all. She is now in a situation where she sees the relationship might not work and she signed a prenup that leaves her essentially with nothing because she chose to marry a man that she clearly did not ever at any point spend even one second of the last 8mos trying to actually get to know. If the marriage doesnt work, Shane will be fine but she wont. And yes like Roshi said, that is EXTREMELY EXTREMELY irresponsible on her part.

Raymond Terry

I'm actually happy that BLM wasn't the cop shit. Armond quickly turned into the worst when he fell off the wagon. The addictive tendencies turned him up a level and now he's on his own tier. Shane is an annoying, incredibly persistent rich asshole, who has a legit complaint. He doesn't respect his wife, but he's no Armond.

Alexis Sullivan

Yes lol. Absolutely nobody did anything to Armond to make him crash out the way he is. Even Shane did not wrong to Armond at all

Alexis Sullivan

How were you with him in the beginning lol. Armond admitted to Lani that he double booked the room and lied straight to Shane's face. Even when Shane showed him the email confirmation of the room they booked, Armond still looked him in his face and said "you didn't book that room and you're not paying for it" when he knew it was a lie. All he had to do was apologize for double booking and refund the difference in cost between the rooms and be done with it but he genuinely wanted Shane to just eat the fact theyre being overcharged for a room they are not in. Armond been wrong from jump

NJM

Rachel got caught up in being wined and dined then planning the wedding that she didn't think about what would happen after. I felt sorry for her until the end.

Alexis Sullivan

Paula said in the 1st episode the only med she actually does need are the Klonopin, all the rest they were taking recreationally

Alexis Sullivan

Armond is predatory asf. Hes been trash from episode 1

A. P.

No doubt, I agree with all that for sure. It's entirely irresponsible (on both their part), but the biggest criticism they seem to have for Shane is that he brings up the room/Armond situation at the wrong times, yet for Rachel she's the irresponsible & spineless one who won't validate her man. Like, yeah that's true, but Shane is also an a$$hole, and we see the apple didn't fall far from the tree. Not saying they don't criticize him at all for other things but it's just a lil too uneven imo. Also, the room situation seems more symbolic than something we're supposed to think of as a one-off situation/ on a micro level

Michael Kaiser

I was eating watching that oh man 😭😭😭😭

Michael Kaiser

Rachel needs to divorce this guy nd get herself a hustler they come from two complete different worlds that doesn’t compliment each other

Kris Barnes

Olivia and Paula are sophomores in college. Quinn is probably like 16-18

Sam

I'm saying it because he still had people batting for him, however there are some lines.

DemonKing626

Ngl, I'm surprised this thought is coming up now. Only because they said they dated for 8 months (even though that is NOT long, very short time indeed). But even then I do find it kind of weird that she didn't question this while they were dating. Like your telling me Shane never once brought up that if they were to marry that she wouldn't need to work anymore; He seems to prideful not to. Also if Shane is like that, I would think to reason that his family is similar as well and they would've shown signs or told her that too. But either way Shane is probably the worst person to seek validation and emotional connection from, when he himself probably never had to worry about sense of self when (from what we have seen) he has most likely lived the rich lifestyle from since he was born.

Kris Barnes

Paula is really trying to distance herself from Olivia and her rich, white family, but ironically she’s also as entitled as they are. Like she’s literally on the trip Olivia’s parents paid for and is acting almost as bratty as Paula. Has she expressed gratitude even once?

Jonathan Hart

I think it's more so that they are fake activist overall and do not stand for anything. Like the mom said, her daughter is cynical. She doesn't favor capitalism nor socialism, so you can't "critique" systems ans structures without alternatives pretty much. They're pretty much fake activist

Lauren B.

Armond and Shane are both a-holes honestly. Armond is gaslighting Shane, Shane is ignoring his wife. They both suck

Rcola25 Jr

Freaky Booty Boy! In this episode.lol

Kermit

Pretty sure that part of their character is a play on performative activism like you see from people on social media platforms like reddit/twitter...etc. They're just in it for the social brownie points and shaming others while not truly caring about the causes they argue about.

Kermit

Rachel's character is super weird to me man... If her end goal was to set herself up financially incase the marriage tanked, she could have just taken whatever high paying position the mom was willing to reference her for and built up her nest egg 100x quicker. She didn't seem all that good at or passionate about her job if she was just 'repurposing' other people's already written articles. Also she's a whole grown adult...instead of figuring out her shit or asking established people in her industry for career advice, she's asking some random rich lady and her husband who doesn't have any knowledge in her field and thinks her industry is shitty(which he's not wrong about). This is how highschoolers as for career advice. Even when Shane's mom, who works in a field she's interest in gives her advice she's upset because she doesn't hear what she 'wants' to hear like Roshi said.

Kermit

Armond is lowkey the glue that holds this show together...there would be no plot without him and we'd just be watching a bunch of rich people on vacation. Dude still need to get fired tho, lol.

Kermit

I didn't see no baby oil

Kermit

I mean...he's an asshole but she sucks at her job and plagiarizes other people's articles. If anything she'd drag the hustler down with her too. She needs to find a regular 9-5 worker in her own field if she wants to keep asking her partner for career advice instead of just going to industry meetups like a normal adult. I rarely see a grown adult lean on randos this much to figure out their life while throwing a hissy fit when they don't hear what they want to hear.

Kermit

Nah it actually started after he got off the wagon. At best he was an asshole from ep1 while he was sober.

Kermit

Shane's assholery is pretty mild in comparison to everyone in this show and his crashouts are justified most of the time. It's their honeymoon and those hotels ain't cheap, lo. 99% of couples would BOTH be pissed. Also your honeymoon isn't the time to be figuring out your career goals or hustling...no surprise he's ignoring that sht.

LeFlaneur

Armond was eating too. Everyone was eating 🌝

LeFlaneur

He’s still law enforcement, but for nature.

Maleny

God damn, I thought he was about to say blue lives matter too, holy shit lmao. My heart was in my chest, I thought that was about to go real bad real quick.

Maleny

yeah so was Armond lmao

GojosHoho

I don't care about the plot of the show im talking about him being a fucking creep. And just because he's the perpetrator and the problem egging on some of the story lines right now doesn't mean he has to stay there forever.

Michael Kaiser

Yall wilding 😭😭😭😂😂😂🫪🫪🫪

Fizzy 🐉

shane was never the worst loool

Fizzy 🐉

rachel just weird to me man like she not right in the head

Fizzy 🐉

team shane for sure armond needs to go

N

shane is actually so hilarious i cannot

janelle

i disagree that shane’s mom is offering rachel options… she said point blank “do not get a job” and equated nonprofit work to “throwing parties”. it feels pretty clear to me that both he and his mom are telling her to be a trophy wife😭 it wasn’t presented like one of many paths she could take, it was definitive. and the conversation would not have went down like that if it was a son-in-law. though i agree that rachel is annoyingly wishy washy and naive about a situation she knowingly put herself in

janelle

i also agree with sheera that she’s just looking at shane for validation😭 not to oppose her or solve her problem. just to validate her conflicted feelings like a partner. she did the same thing with the girlboss woman. but it kinda speaks to her inability to be active in her own life, which is what makes it hard to sympathize with her sometimes😭

janelle

well 1) i don’t think it would be unreasonable to ask your husband and mother in law for advice😭 but 2) she actually DIDN’T want advice from shane and his mother at dinner. based on their conversation at breakfast, she already knew where it was going. shane forced it back into the conversation.

Lauren B.

Nah. He literally walked out on his wife while they were arguing about his mother coming to their honeymoon. That is absolutely an important marital discussion but he cared more about arguing with Armond.

Mike A

Rachel and Shane definitely got married too early. Rachel obviously comes from a much different background than he does and probably got seduced by the lifestyle. Now they're married and she's struggling with figuring out who she wants to be now that she's not just trying to survive. And probably coming to realize that Shane doesn't respect her at all.

Saphthings

Kinda confused why episode 5 and 6 are stuck behind a paywall. I'm the highest patreon tier, are we gonna start pay locking past the tiers?? Or was there some special circumstance where they posted them all at once so it's just slowing them down a bit??

Fabien

Funny because that's not particularly the worst he did from my point of view. He was consistently a huge dick, stealing from guests, being on drugs at work, and actively trying to ruin the honeymoon of someone in a situation in which Armond was in the wrong from the very start (and still acted as if hé was justified to be annoyed, crazy). And now fucking at work with a young subordinate (agree with the power imbalance, but he still chose to stay (so obviously, fuck) and to take drugs). Armond is just a juge dick consistently.

Fabien

There's truth to it (to a degree), you just need to be reasonable, informed and honest to understand why. And also to understand it's the very reason young men have been increasingly leaning conservative in USA for the past decade, which is a statistical fact. It's a reaction, blondie is a reaction to what some of them faced, and blondie will benefit from the people stubbornly choosing to ignore it. To get rid of people like blondie, it's a better strategy to include the perspective of everyone.

Sydney

Yeah, they definitely rushed into marriage and Rachel's been questioning it ever since the first episode. I think earlier she even implied she was pressured into dating him. For Shane, he probably just assumed she'd be happy regardless because of the glamorous life he could provide, in exchange for having a beautiful woman by his side. But she isn't that shallow, and so there was always gonna be a disconnect

NumiGhost

The pay wall is for impatient people that don’t wanna wait for the usual schedule since they’ve been watching ahead

Sam

Quinns arc is so peaceful

Atlas Creation

Shane’s crime is being an asshole, Armond’s crime is being villainous as the vampire Armand

Saphthings

Ah ok, so it's because of ahead of schedule. Hmm, don't love it bc when I pay for patreon I want anything available, especially since price DID even go up. But honestly the other option is they'd just hoard it until the date anyways, so there's no real loss. So all good.

ilovmadsx

dare i say one of the most iconic performances in ALL White Lotus seasons

kai. 🩶

wtf is happening

Oni Legend

Rewatching the season with y’all, its a lot of fun see how good of a “villain” role, Armond fills just by virtue of causing chaos for no reason for the cast But i think it’s interesting that Sydney Sweeney’s character ,for how annoying, pretentious, and fake woke she is, made a comment to her mom a couple episodes ago about how her mom NEEDS to something at every moment to fill the void because thats exactly what’s driving Armond. He said it to Belinda, he’s burnt out of the job and the stress of being sober has worn him down to the fact that the slightest bit of chaos has him readdicted to just pushing the lines as much as he can. He’s not addicted to drugs or alcohol at this point, he’s addicted to the chaos of everything he’s wrought

Śtórmí X

I think what it is, for a long time they’ve made it so poc point their fingers at each other when it came to their struggles. Now way more people are more aware of what’s really been going on and what specific group has been gaining the most.

Śtórmí X

Also no one likes it when a mirror gets held up to them lol. It’s kinda funny because to us when straight white male complain about how they are being treated now it just likes “how dare you single us and makes us feel bad for our actions wahhh” my b I’m yapping

Amos

Jamaal Ellison

Armond is crazy he blew up Shane's honeymoon by inviting his mother secretly. He's gotta get paws put on him and rightfully so.

Nick Vaughn

Caught with the “I eat ass…” face in real time 😂

Bria A.

Paula very specifically mentioned the klonopin this episode when Olivia was worried about the other recreational drugs -- also, they're not from Hawai'i or even staying long-term. I doubt an emergency pharmacist call could do anything.

Panashe

This is the first time I really disagreed with you guys. As parents, it’s your responsibility to get to know your children’s friends, not the other way around. Most kids already find it intimidating to talk to adults. It’s on the adults to initiate the conversation and ask “what are you studying?” “what sports teams do you root for?” etc. these are people who spend hours with your children and have the ability to alter their behavior, you should be getting to know them.

Panashe

Tbf if Rachel was smart she would just open a separate account and slowly start putting money there. I’d ask Shane for an allowance and just put away 70%. If he gives you $10k a month, put away $7k. After 4-5 years together, she’ll have nearly $500k and that money can be diversified and put towards other projects that will make her more money. The issue is that she’s being so vocal about her grievances and putting herself in a position to potentially lose everything before the marriage has even started. How would Shane even know if she takes a few jobs on the side and doesn’t say anything.

ultraviolet

DID THIS NIGGA SAY THERE A DEGREE OF TRUTH TO IT?

That1LeeBruh

Rachel was searching for her purpose beyond frivolous parties and rich people activities that they did all for show. She wanted a career and the mother in law was being dismissive of the very idea

Teejay

Armond will always be worse than Shane even if Shane is a dick. Armond is a dick based in prejudice and feelings, sir you’re a manager

Fabien

Yes. By avoiding to see things through activism or tribalism, we get a better view of the full picture. And then we can demand the same from the other side, it creates reciprocity. Doing otherwise just creates more enmity, a bigger divide, and a mutual lack of understanding.

GigaDirt

Refusing to see things from another point of view is how mistakes are made again and again In The effort to make everything more inclusive we have also started to alienate certain people, straight white men. I'm bi, and I can acknowledge this It's not as prevalent as alienating people of color or lgbtq people, but it does exist. Saying it doesn't, outright denying it, is a mistake, because doing that will just make the problem worse.
