That also sounds dope to me; he put the right people in the right places to do the right jobs. The maturity level would lean more towards The Legend of Korra rather than Avatar: The Last Airbender, and that's cool with me. The audience who watched Avatar are probably parents with children by now.

After watching those first 3 episodes this was how I felt. I liked it a lot the premise is interesting. I don't mind the art style but you can most definitely tell the budget isn't there. I do think that the bending looking weak fits the story cause bending isn't so easy now.

I think some of my problems stem from feeling like some of the decisions that have gone into the show were chum poured into the waters solely for the nitpickers and the nostalgia baiters; I think I am going to have to approach this similarly to the way I approach Marvel movies: I have to digest it, get over my expectations of what I wanted and accept what I was given, and then analyze how I feel about it with my expectations removed.

I will say the dialogue definitely is a noticable downgrade from korra/atla. It's very hand-holdy and exposition heavy. Atla exposition worked because it always had depth or was written intelligently, but here I constantly ask "was that piece of exposition really necessary?".

We’re going to get an unbelievably heartbreaking backstory about her final days, and the world turning against her will be tied to whatever she had to do back then. This is a great story the animation isn't so bad and I'm interested to see why they think it's korra fault. It's possibly not her fault whatever happened but it would be a nice redemption story if we had one avatar that did do more harm then good even if it wasn't intentional. Avatars aren't perfect and after thousands of years it wouldn't be surprising if one avatar made a huge mistake. Especially if it had something to do with the spirit world being thrown out of wack. There were a lot of factors that contributed to the spirit world having issues from korra, to kuvira, korra's uncle etc. Something was bound to implode Also Red lotus was the group for zaheer since you have the answer to to white lotus being the group iroh was in.

So far my only gripes are the dialogue which is a bit heavy on exposition and on the children speaking like adults, and some of the scenes' animations. I really like the concept, the world, and the characters. Also, it's clear that Pavi is gonna be the spiritual half and Nisha is gonna be the hands.

If I'm being candid, they kind of speedran the whole "these two sisters don't get along, say mean things to each other, and one runs away" in like...2 minutes of runtime? And they made up like a scene and a half later! Really hope the pacing isn't like this for the whole show, I feel like we've barely had time really get to know any of these characters.

2 of my biggest gripes with LOK was 1. I didn’t like how industrial it got even though Ik civilization evolves I get it but I preferred the small village aesthetic and 2. the bending was reduced to punching and kicking elements I didn’t like the pro bending shit at all I fell in love with martial arts being incorporated into the bending forms I just think LOK lost that but it seems bending is gaining back its beauty as an art I mean I’ll have to see more fights and what not but so far I’m satisfied

Red Lotus was the splinter group, Zahir's group were all WL at first but they were much more radical so they went off on their own. Also, I like how much this season pulls from Hindiusm because like the fandom already found out like half the mysteries just based on that lol.

Truth be told, if the primary focus could only be on one or the other, I wish we'd gotten the reverse. There's no denying that the Avatar Aang movie looked incredible, but I wasn't a fan of the story. Meanwhile, I feel super distracted by the Seven Havens visuals, but the story seems promising. If only we could have gotten the best of both worlds. 😭

Leading theory is that in the trailer we see Korra dealing with a lot of spirit energy which causes Vaatu to grow quicker, one of them is Raava one of them is Vaatu. The seven havens represent the seven chakras, Raava and Vaatu might combine at the end to make a perfect cosmic being. (Look at chakra colours, red and blue make purple which is the highest)

Korra season one is definitely leagues above in dialogue but your memory is a bit off on atla s1's early episodes. Gran Gran, Katara, and Sokka all exposition dump pretty heavily in the first couple episodes, because, well...it's a kid show. Korra I don't think had that much of a problem because it was a direct continuation and they played it more like a sequel rather than a stand-alone story. The main problem is that the dialogue feels very forced. There's no locality to it beyond characters saying Haven or Ellora every other sentence and no real identity to the location since its been secondary to Pavi and Nisha. So far the world's culture seems irrelevant to the story because the world itself is the threat, whereas the first two shows were politically driven

I think Sheera is definitely right. Without the Avatar the world is out of balance. They mention the world is losing benders, maybe it's slowly going back to the world before. Before the Avatar was a thing, when humans didn't have bending, and the only way to get it was to receive from the Spirit Lion Turtle. Like how the world restore the Air Benders after Harmonic Convergence, trying to balance out all of the elements. I wonder what happen, didn't Korra leave the two spirit portal open? I remember she walked into the Spirit World with Asami, and we know Iroh manage to stay alive pass his moral body by existing in the Spirit World. Can Avatar Korra do that to? She's the least Spiritual Avatar out of all of them. I wonder if the next Harmonic Convergence happen already? Vatu and Rava are cycling dark and light spirits, Vatu did say he will eventually reincarnate to balance out Rava at the next Harmonic Convergence.

Hating the Avatar isnt new because the old show had Avatar Day which celebrated hatred for the Avatar but Korra has a whole tradition / legend / festival aimed specifically toward her failure and i just gotta know. It seems like the only good things she did was bring air benders back into existence. On the fence if it was a good idea to reconnect the spirit world to the living though...

One of my theories about how/why the cataclysm happened is because in TLOK book 4 when Korra and Kuvira were fighting in the spirit vines, Kuvira shot that spirit beam and Korra ended up saving the two of them and creating a third spirit portal in it's place. I think the spiritual balance of the world was thrown out of whack because the two spirit portals at the North and South Pole were still opened when the third one was created. That likely led to the downfall of civilization. I also think that after Korra died, there wasn't an Avatar for an extended period of time which led to further imbalance and chaos. Shot in the dark - but maybe in order to save the world Korra had to fuse Raava and Vaatu together and then become a dual Avatar herself, she died in the process and now Pavi and Nisha are the dual Avatars, one for Vaatu and one for Raava.

So the location of Ellora is in the south eastern part of the Earth Kingdom as mentioned by the creators in an interview they did with Teen Vogue. They chose it because it was relatively new since most of the Earth Kingdom plots and locations have revolved around Ba Sing Se (north east), Omashu (south west) or Republic City (western coast). I think the dialogue being a bit exposition heavy is fine for the first three episodes - it's introducing a lot to a wide audience. I'm willing to let them cook a bit since we have ten more episodes this season plus books 2-4 already greenlit.

Raava typically immediately inhabits another body as soon as the current Avatar dies so for there to be 200yrs since the last Avatar is confusing (they said its been 200yrs since the cataclysm that Korra caused). My guess is either every Avatar since her has been in hiding and not revealing themselves and just living their life in obscurity until they die or something prevented Raava from being able to inhabit another body until now (the cataclysm maybe?)

Im hoping that it comes out that Korra actually saved the world again. Like it was either this current existence or no existence at all cuz the whole world wouldve died but no one knows that so they blame her. I just hate that the in real life unjustified deep seeded vitriolic hatred of Korra is being used to fuel the new show so I just want her to come out vindicated somehow. She wasn't perfect and she made her mistakes but literally every Avatar did. Roku is quite literally responsible for Sozin's take over of the entire world and his 100yr oppression of the planet and the deaths of millions cuz he didnt wanna hold his psychotic fascist friend accountable for his fascism but yet he doesn't receive even a fraction of the hate Korra gets.

@alexis these interpretations are straight up not even based on factual information. it was rokus best friend and even went as far ahead as to warn him that if he keeps going he will die. sozin stopped. are you really blaming roku for not knowing that the same friend would come to help him when a volcano errupts only to betray him? the deaths of millions only came after roku died. And my point isnt even that its not rokus fault, he surely carries responsibility which he literally says himself. Now imagine one of korras best friends betrays her and she would fall for it... but lets keep things straight if we solely blame roku for the 100 year war, then we can also blame korra for these current circumstances. in reality both failed stopping it which makes them in part responsible and that is undeniably true for both cases, the big question now is if korra will show the same remorse and accountability that roku showed. Roku literally says "you inhereted MY problems". So honestly i think they wont redeem korra by reframing her actions but rather by explaining why people blame her, which is most likely vaatu reviving within raava, just like raava self revived within vaatu, then vaatu probably took over and caused this calamity using korras body hence people blaming her. Either that or its because of the new spirit portal somehow. If anything its sad that korra who already had 4 seasons to herself now shoehorning herself into potentially being more important to this story than the twins which is sad for them. i literally heard a tlok stan say their only purpose is to redeem korras reputation, not even actions...

This doesnt seem like some shit that could've happened in one lifetime. Like civilization had to collapse all the way and seven individual havens had to be built. Even in Korra's time there were still remnants of Aang's time as Avatar, but here we see none (so far at least). Wouldn't it be some shit if these two were not the next after Korra, but after another full cycle of Avatars? After Korra who supposedly set this off another of the earth, fire, air, water avatars then these two. (I'm only about 7 minutes into this episode and dont know if theres any source material so it goes without saying that this is purely speculation on my part)

I think a lot of people have missed the obvious concerning Korra and the apocolypse. Korra was the first avatar to contain both Raava and Vaatu following the end of her season 2. I fully believe Korra did everything people think she did because her Avatar state was no longer guaranteed to be powered by Raava. You can only imagine the things Vaatu was pushing while in the drivers seat. I say this with certainty because Raava had just been reformed right before Korra "destroyed" Vaatu. With that he would have been remanifesting inside Korra with almost equal power to Raava since she was still new herself. With Korra's death you now had 2 Avatar spirits that would reincarnate as seen with Pavi which ironically means light and Nisha which means Darkness.

i think it's that pavi's more connected to her spiritual side, nature and transcendence while nisha is more grounded with the temporal world and practical skills as well as the pacifist/fighter thing. i think also even if karthik is well-intentioned his belief that "usually the opposite [of truth]" keeps people safe makes him at least somewhat of an antagonist. i am really interested in where the story is going with that because the theme of lying has come up a lot so far, notably as well with nisha telling pavi that she's so bad at lying and pavi's response being to ask why that's a bad thing, on top of jae repeatedly pleading with karthik that he doesn't want to lie. and of course overarchingly, the narrative about korra and general understanding about avatars in general is presumably a result of many centuries of disinformation (lies). i wonder if it will go a route of lying begets lying o what tangled webs we weave or delve deeper into the politics of secrets or what. because it does make sense in a world where the avatar is demonised to lie about their existence to protect them. but karthik seems to have it be his whole philosophy that authority (at least his) must lie to protect in general

Yo 😳 I had to cross reference a LOT of episodes with maps and revisit Book 2 Episode 19 "The Guru" and I think Nisha and Pavi have to face 7 energy beings, each one I'm assuming manifests through each haven's view of the Avatar. Ellora having the "fear" part, and the energy thing being red had me thinking. But putting the world's view of the Avatar back in balance I think is the ultimate goal. And I feel like it's similar to ATLA where we knew the fire lord was the the final boss but in this case it's the chakras. So Korra would be roughly in her 30s when the cataclysm happened. So now I wonder if she died trying to fix it, but in Avatar fashion the next one takes up the responsibility of the previous. I need to see the fits of the other havens because, the benders in the Bending Brigade look like Motal Kombat Power Rangers 😂

I dislike Korra because of the way she was early in the series, her hot-headed and arrogant personality led to poor tactical choices and strained relationships, she never really learnt from her past mistakes until it was too late and never listened to her teachers she never brought real peace to the world she brought periods of stability and stopped major global threats, but her choices also led to deep, long-term friction. Regardless, I can recognize her good qualities, her resilience and her growth at the end we shall see what became of her .
